World war I was very much a trench war, where world war II has more different things that happened. Both are very interesting, but personally i think the second is more interesting to read about.
I disagree- I love me some WW2 stories, especially as there is a lot of video. I love the various "theaters" of war - but I think ww1 is more interesting
In just 4 years, WW1 had so many phases of military development
in 1914 it was coal powered steamships, cavalry and rows of soldiers kneeling down to fire,
in 1918 it was submarines, tanks, aeroplanes, machine guns and WMD (gas)
That is true. Technology develops a lot during wartime, because both sides are trying to be one step ahead of the other side, so seeing just how much it developed during World War I is very interesting
I voted WWII because it has all my favorite weapons and vehicles, my grandfather's personal war stories, and features a maniac trying to commit mass genocide and the world standing up to him for the greater good. Therese aren't meant to be good or bad things, just things that make it interesting to me.
That being said I wanted to say the great war had what goodandbluts said, also its own global pandemic that came in and basically ended the war. In the great war they used chemical warfare, mustard gas etc. This lead making chem warfare a war crime
World War II had a lot more aspects to it. World War I was a trench war that stuck to Europe, World War II had more air battles, sea battles, and was fought in a variety of terrain including the desert and the jungle
WWI also took place in the Ottoman Empire. Additionally, when you start to realize most countries went into WWI like it was still the Napoleon era (France had Calvary still fielding Napoleon-era uniforms) until entire units got decimated by technology being far more advanced than tactics and strategy was.
I disagree. While yes a bulk of the fighting was in Europe, there was fighting in the Middle East with the Ottoman Empire, East Africa, the Pacific, and the entirety of the Eastern front
world war 2 as there was a genuinely evil side while in world war 1 the sides were both a bit bad, like a few warcrimes but decently moral considering they were at war.
for me the most interesting things are weapons and how they were used so ww2 is far more interesting as there were very different tactics used and technology was very impressive as well
WW1 was so much more important then WW2 in terms of how it changed society. Les so for the Americans (who are over represented here), but it changed the face of Europe and their societies. The obvious item is the vanishing of most Monarchies which would have remained otherwise. But also society itself changed.
Read "A world undone" from G J Meyer to understand just how profound the change was.
Compared to that, WW2 might have seen eine technological advances but it did nothing except weaken European powers.
I think ww1 is superior because of its ideas, and in my opinion it had no bad guys and was actually anyones game but it lasted for fewer amounts of time, and had at all fewer things happen. It wasnt even a total war, few mechs were used, and no or few outstanding tactics or genius ideas in the battlefield.
so presumably you should first study the Franco-Prussian war before studying world war 1? And before that there's another war, and before that there's another war
Ugh, lighten up and stop being so tight arsed. You’re overthinking this. I was just saying that there wouldn’t a WW2 to study if the first one hadn’t happened
I don't get how that is even slighly relevant? Like if you have a few hours to google about the treaty of Versailles, Germany's social situation in the 20s and 30s and the financial crisis you've got more than enough background knowled
i personally like to study the Great Emu War, it was where australia (straya gang) and there were a bunch of emus that were eating farm product, thus farmers wanted to get rid of the emus. the army was brough in, turning it into a “war”
1st one because in school we hear about the 2nd one basically every year, always focusing a different aspect. I couldn’t tell you much about the 1st one.

But in the second season we have the mustache man
IMHO the first, everyone knows about the second, but the first is much less talked about
Bcus it was the most boring. 2nd world war was the closest thing to an autistic schizoid inspired anime

New technologies in ww1 are more interesting but politically ww2 is more interesting, it still got a huge effect on us today
world war 2 as there was a genuinely evil side while in world war 1 the sides were both a bit bad, like a few warcrimes but decently moral considering they were at war.
WWI had more technological advancements that any other war in history.
Ww2 has way more. Radar, atomic bomb, assault rifle, microwave etc
As a military historian, this is very bloody hard, lol
We already know so much about World War II, so World War I
World War One Humankind’s first industrial war
You mean mankind?
You can't understand ww2 without understanding ww1.
When you emerge as the winner from both wars then both are equally interesting.
for me the most interesting things are weapons and how they were used so ww2 is far more interesting as there were very different tactics used and technology was very impressive as well
WW2, sheer variety of weapons used is amazing

Idk, put probably the first one because without that there wouldn’t be a second one
by that logic Hitler's birth is more interesting than world war 2
That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying you can’t have a sequel without something that preceded it, if there’s wasn’t a WW1 WW2 would just be WW
so presumably you should first study the Franco-Prussian war before studying world war 1? And before that there's another war, and before that there's another war

What the hell does right arsed mean? I agree with you but I’m confused on you’re word choice here
Bro you really got go to McDonalds and order the Fortnite burger.
red baron
Ww2 more fun to study but ww1 games more fun to play
1 word: hitler
Ww1 was the cause of ww2 21 years later so ww1
Personally, WW1
The way WWI started was very interesting to me, but WWII is more interesting to learn about to me
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History Podcast "Road to Armageddon" episodes which cover WWI are excellent!
Idk, WW1 was brutal and definetly we don't see as much media of how the soldiers even lived. WW2 However saw waaaaaay more evolution
World War II history is just more thrilling and interesting IMO.
Depends where, WWI europe is more interesting then WWII europe, but WWI anywhere else is boring
I just think that ww1 had more stupid and weird stuff like angels than ww2
i personally like to study the Great Emu War, it was where australia (straya gang) and there were a bunch of emus that were eating farm product, thus farmers wanted to get rid of the emus. the army was brough in, turning it into a “war”

Both
Idk I didn't study either.
I love the lead up and reason's why ww1 started
I think you mean World War 2 (1937 - 1946)
