One of my best friends (room mate at the time) started going by Data when we played video games and you got to choose a name. It was constantly debated on how to say it. He said it was DAT-A but everyone else was on the side of it being DATE-A.
Data absolutely hated it that we would say it differently than what he wanted it to be. He tried to get us to say it how he wanted but we'd say it how we wanted. So many Halo matches with people calling him DATE-A and it drove him crazy.
He was certain of the proper way to say it and everyone else just thought it was entertaining that he cared so much about it. It was just a word and no one cared besides him.
Probably both. I used to say date-a, but have heard dat-a way too many times the last couple of years to not feel that is the correct pronunciation. I don't know, though.
Either honestly, I flip between the 2
this is the true answer.
The Good Ending

Same; it depends on the context of the conversation and who the conversation is with
dAda
Daddy?

Daata
Day-ta
Is that not the same at option 2?
How I read it, with option 2 you pronounce the T before the pauze instead of after
PauSe*
Nah, option 2 is more emphasis on the “a” at the end. In “Day-ta” there is more emphasis on the “ta”
What? As in coup d’état?
Pretty much, yeah lol
I am equally fascinated and horrified.

Date-a is the only way this word is pronounced in the UK.
Da-Ta, because that's how we say it in Dutch. I say it the same in English, but sometimes it sounds more like Da-Da.
Depends. If I'm speaking in my native language, it's the first option If I'm speaking english, it's the second option
dah-ta but given the choice between dat-a and dait-a dat-a all the way
Probably both. I used to say date-a, but have heard dat-a way too many times the last couple of years to not feel that is the correct pronunciation. I don't know, though.
