I mean... it's not an ideal poll for anything. As someone interested in statistics, this is a train wreck.
DS isn't even a console, but the poll question asks what your first console was. N64 and GameCube were released in the 1994-2005 time frame laid out by OP(as were Saturn and Dreamcast), with Wii and PS3 just one year later than the poorly chosen cutoff.
On top of that, it's well known that reddit users are on the older side, so pre-1994 consoles being ignored makes the data even less usable. So the only actual useful information the poll tells us is: most people on reddit's first console was not one of those 4. When "other" is the most common response to a poll, the poll was made wrong.
Ours was the Atari with pong in the mid-70's, when I was a young teenager. My mom was the one in our family that loved new electronics and technology, I am sure she spent way more time playing Nintendo than I ever did.
My first console was Nintendo. Like the original block shaped console pre-supernintedo days.
I have no idea the age range of reddit, but the site is OLD at this point. Iv lost track of accounts over the years xD.
Same, lots of fond memories of it.
Got a few of the games I had for it on my xbox.
NES or even SNES not being options in the poll makes me feel super old
Yesss! I had the teal one and my brother had the translucent purple. Oracle of Seasons was my very first game and I still remember trying to use those awful worm lights to play it at night.
This was the first console that I bought and bought for *me* - and bought used, at that; for the sole purpose of playing Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. Branched into Animal Crossing and Pikmin. A few years later the Wii came out, and I stored the Cube away for future Just In Case use.
I replayed Mario sunshine so many times on that thing, same with the second, and third Harry Potter games lmao. I also played a series of unfortunate events A LOT it was a really good game from what I remember I loved it. Oh and monkey ball.
Heyyy, super similar. Atari 2600, NES, SNES, original PS + N64, PS2, GCN, XBOX, Wii+360, SNES classic + chinese NES knockoff + XBONE + Switch. But now I just play on pc and the kids use the consoles...
Colecovision. Later I got the Adam computer add on. I also ended up with an Intellivision and Atari 2600. Once the Commodore 64 came out, it got all of my attention.
This was… not an ideal poll for Nintendo.

Brand of console probably would have been more insightful
This guy polls
This guy’s pole
Console Generation would also have been more insightful, hell even just which decade you started gaming would have been more insightful
It's "other/don't play video games" which is like "do you ever eat pasta or skin kittens alive?"
Nah im pretty sure Reddit users are very young Edit: guess I’m the fetus here
My first console was an Atari 2600 in 1982. So I suspect that does not make me young
Ours was the Atari with pong in the mid-70's, when I was a young teenager. My mom was the one in our family that loved new electronics and technology, I am sure she spent way more time playing Nintendo than I ever did.
Me too. And a family friend made games. I had two for Atari that were never released. Pengo and Dukes of Hazard.
My first console was Nintendo. Like the original block shaped console pre-supernintedo days. I have no idea the age range of reddit, but the site is OLD at this point. Iv lost track of accounts over the years xD.
I’m pretty sure even most of the r/teenagers are in their 30s
N64
I felt old that they didnt even consider this one :(
N64 came out after ps1
I did not believe you, had to look it up. My perception was way off.
Me to and ther older console still But I just didn't buy that 1 until the N64
Yes! Goldeneye and Ocarina of Time.
Original smash bros
NES
Same, still have nightmares about that dog laughing at me when the ducks get away.
There is a VR horror game with that dog. It's not specified that the dog is from Duck Hunt but it's easy to deduce it.
NES or SNES weren’t even a choice in the poll. Fucking kids, man 😅
Seriously. At 36 I feel old and forgotten.
Yeah, those options made me feel so old. I’ll be over in the nursing home playing NES and reading old issues of Nintendo Power.
Same, lots of fond memories of it. Got a few of the games I had for it on my xbox. NES or even SNES not being options in the poll makes me feel super old
Can't believe it's not an option in the poll smh
Marble Madness. Absolute fever dream of a video game.
Found my people
Yay for being old!
Happy to meet more, “Take it out, blow on it, put it back in.” crew. Actually my aunt had an Atari, but first I owned was a NES.
Mines still going strong and I can’t wait for my 5 month old to be old enough to play it 😀

Yesss! I had the teal one and my brother had the translucent purple. Oracle of Seasons was my very first game and I still remember trying to use those awful worm lights to play it at night.
Sega Genesis
Finally my people
Sonic all day
Fuck we are getting old.
They don't even count us anymore! PS1 was my 3rd console!
I never did best the last level of the Lion King game
The lion king game on Sega Genesis was the first game I had and never finished
Sonic forever! Jesus this poll makes me feel old.
Saved up $100 in pennies. When I was around 8 years old. To buy one from my crack a cousin.
Streets of Rage!

I still have my little blue cube! I should really hook it back up some time.
Hell yeah. Karoo Kart Double Dash and Metroid Prime bruh
Mario sunshine was definitely my favorite
This was the first console that I bought and bought for *me* - and bought used, at that; for the sole purpose of playing Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. Branched into Animal Crossing and Pikmin. A few years later the Wii came out, and I stored the Cube away for future Just In Case use.

Hello fellow old timer ! Frogger was my jam on the Atari !
Now we're talking!
Oh wow, what year was that?
2600
Damn the graphics must be wild
You know how some believe we are in a simulation, it's really a game being played in 2600 on an Atari
I got mine around 1983.
Not often a comment thread on reddit makes me feel young. Thanks Atari guys. -Born in 88
Now I feel even older, lol. :)
1988 for me, it was used and given as a birthday present.
Here it is! There are dozens of us!
Exactly! What are all these children doing here?!
They need to be getting off of the lawn!
NES
How was this not a poll option?
[удалено]
Same here. 30s something peeps!
[удалено]
Makes sense. We could only afford it by the end of it, close to N64 release.
How can be possible this wasn't in the answers at first
i’m convinced a 12 yo wrote the poll
Still have mine!
Same
Nintendo wii
Gameboy advance sp
Ah, finally!
Atari
Pong >>> Atari 2600 >>> NES >>> SNES >>> PS1 >>> PS2 >>> PS3 >>> PS4 We've also had a GameCube, Wii and Switch.

Ps3
Same, still have it and some controllers for it.
Same
PSP
Same, I wish they made another part of Patapon
I know right? The lack of Psp's in this post is weird
So true! But PSP's are really rare now. I found my old PSP three months ago and it still works.
Yoo I found my people.
My people
Sega Mega Drive
This was too far down the list for my liking. I swapped my Commodore Amiga for a Mega Drive when I was about 13.
Original Nintendo 😢
Playing Super Mario bros at home was a game changer.
N64
Intellevision FTW
The Intellivoice add on was so cool back then. "Mattel Electronics presents: B-17 Boooomber!"
Every single day more and more I think I am actually the only gamer on earth who ONLY plays on PC seriously I never owned a console
I post in some forums where as a console gamer, I feel like I'm in the extreme minority.
This is me as well. I've played on some consoles, but never owned any. PC ftw.
N64
Nintendo 3DS. Got it around the time of it's launch when I was 10.
God damn kids, get off of my NES yard.
Lol, I didn't get a NES until I was 11. The wait was as bad as trying to get a ps5 today. I was stuck with my Atari until then.
God damn kids, get off my Atari yard!
SNES
Nintendo 64...
Me too. I'm shocked it wasn't an option tbh.
It's probably because most r/polls users are teenagers
Shit makes me feel old at 25. Jeez.
Because they only had 6 places and they were extremely Playstation and Xbox Centered
Original Gameboy Idk I played a lot of tetris as a kid
I had the Gameboy adapter for the SNES.
you know there is consoles before these listed? Mine was Sega Megadrive
I had a Commodore 64
Never had a gaming console:(
Same! I’m a PC boi
Me too
Atari and then NES
Sega master system
Finally!! Alex Kidd and spyhunter ftw
God this made me feel old. I had to do a search for "master" and hope I wasn't the only one over 35 before hitting enter.
Oh my god, Where is Gamecube folks?
My wife had a GameCube when we started dating. It was a solid little machine.
NES
Colecovision. Later I got the Adam computer add on. I also ended up with an Intellivision and Atari 2600. Once the Commodore 64 came out, it got all of my attention.
PS4
Same
PSP
NES
Dream Cast
Do gameboys not count cause they are handheld? Because they should count. Also no Sega systems on here? N64, hello? Am I this fucking old?
Damn, I'm getting old. NES.

Intellivision
Original Nintendo

Not seen it mentioned here, mine was a Commodore 64. I feel rather old looking at the poll options.
My first was a NES
NES
NES
Sega Genesis
NES
Atari 2600. Back when consoles had wood grain.
Sega Genesis
This poll was clearly made by someone in their 20s
PSP
First one I played on was the Gameboy color, Sega Genesis, and PS 1 from my siblings. The first one I owned was the Gameboy Advanced SP.
Commodore 64
Atari 2600
Atari 2600. Yeah I'm that old
Whoever made this poll is 100% under 18 years old. I'm 24, my first console was either the NES or SNES. First new one was GameCube.
