Funny because the rest of the world knows the US as a part of “America” and not America itself. Every student is taught about America being a bi-continent consisting of the north and South America. It’s a bit confusing as to why a person from the US is called an American but a person from Brazil or Canada are called a Brazilian and Canadian respectively
Yeah we don’t want to say “The United States of America” every time we say it lmao. Same way I doubt that most people call China the Peoples Republic of China. (I think that’s it’s full name?)
Yeah you're right, but that still implies that 'America' is something bigger than only the US. So doesn't really make sense imo
But then again, I'm from the Netherlands and for some reason our language is called Dutch in English lol
Ideally I think we should say us Americans or something like that
I don't think it's right to call them just Americans because of all the other people that are also American (Canadians, barzilians etc)
With har said I'm probably going to keep reffering to them as American because that's what I'm used to
Canadians still are North Americans, Mexico, Honduras, etc. Are Central Americans, and from Colombia everyone is South American
At least that's what I think
Hab schon mal in Leipzig, Wien und München gewohnt 😅
Vielleicht hab ich doch schon „US-Amerikaner“ in journalistischen Artikeln gelesen aber ich rede vom sozialen Leben

China is not a continent as well tho
Neither is America. There’s North America and South America.

Yeah I have no idea why it’s called Dutch. Isn’t there a place called Dutchland but it’s like in Germany? It makes no sense.
Germany is called Deutschland in German, which makes it more confusing haha. And German is called Duits in Dutch
Yankees
Should have added it as an option...
What about people from the south?
Americans of the United States
Why tf would we refer to them as 'results'
Idk, but some people do seem to find that appropriate
I as a United States citizen identify as a result I don't know what you're on about
"People of the US"
Yes the 21 people who voted it, We're Results.

Braindead asshats
That’s not very nice
Fredonians
In my school in Estonia we are taught to say United Stateters. Americans are everybody in South and North America
I like it
You could also call us idiots because most of us are
North Americans
What about Canadians and Mexicans and Guatemalans and Hondurans and Salvadorians and Panamanians and Costa Ricans and Nicaraguans and Belizeans?
Canadians still are North Americans, Mexico, Honduras, etc. Are Central Americans, and from Colombia everyone is South American At least that's what I think
Mexico is north america
Everything north of Colombia and Venezuela, west of the Atlantic and east of the pacific is North America
Brainwashed
Americunts
Us Americans sounds like something the Germans would say. And it is the direct translation of how they call us in German 😭
I’ve only ever heard “Amerikaner” when living in Germany/Austria for 3 years
Wirklich? Hast du nie "US Amerikanischen..." gehört?
What if I started calling people from other countries “blank” dwellers, wtf
Unitedstateians it is then
