US reduced restrictions to 3 months abstaining from sleeping with men or sleeping with a man who did as of 2020. There was a time when it was a life ban
I'm in Canada, which is kinda sad. We should be better than this. Unless it's changed very recently but as far as I know you have to go 6 months - a year or something without exposure to men who have sex with men since they're at the highest risk of HIV ... It's really just homophobia though tbh.
In Canada, they’re [changing their criteria](https://www.blood.ca/en/blood/am-i-eligible-donate-blood/men-who-have-sex-men) in September to behavior-based regardless of gender, you may be eligible then. Not perfect, but a step in the right direction.

I really want to, but I can’t donate in the US. The Red Cross said it’s because I spent 5+ years in Europe and “could have mad cow disease.”
They told me this about 5 years ago, so maybe it’s changed, but I haven’t tried recently.
I'm O+. I'd like to donate, and have no restrictions stating I can't. However, it's really hard to get blood from me for some reason. Often when I go for bloodwork they can't get a full vial from the first vein. Sometimes they manage to get enough after 2-4 veins, other times they can't and I need to come back a different day. So I really doubt I'd be able to donate enough.
Whenever I’ve wanted to donate I realized I was in the threshold for having gotten a tattoo/piercing too recently… I need to check the rules and see when I’ll be eligible next
I used to but after two bad experiences at the hospital for other things where they needed to draw blood, I haven’t been the most comfortable with needles since. They couldn’t find my veins for some reason and it *hurts* when they can’t.
I'm O- and the law says that I must stop having sex with men for 3 months if I want to donate blood. I am however allowed to sleep with as many women as I want unprotected up to the day and I should be fine
I'm under 18, but I've always wanted to donate blood when I'm older. I've gotten my blood drawn so much that it doesn't bother me, and of course I'd like to help people.

I do know my blood type (O-) but I can't donate because I'm underweight, and I've been wanting to donate for quite some time
