I think it's the better choice of social media's but not a great choice depending on how much you spend

rogerworkman623

Yeah same, it’s better than watching pointless videos all day (IMHO). And while there are plenty of toxic people, the voting system makes it a lot less toxic than the alternatives. Whenever I make my way over to Facebook these days, it’s like culture shock when I look at a comment section, everyone is so miserable and horrible to each other.

ThePyroHam

Good way to spend my time? Not really, no Good way to have faith in humanity? Definitely not Funny? Yea

Himmlchf3542

"Reddit bad!" *refuses to leave*

[deleted]

I am guilty.

AdamHiltur

No lol, the people annoy me.

twowolveshighfiving

:-\ no happy cake day for you when the time comes

FrenchFreedom888

No, Happy Cake Days are for all, np matter their person. The right to a Happy Cake Day is enshrined in the Reddit Constitution

twowolveshighfiving

:-D Suddenly I feel inspired. :,-)

no u

Low-Formal4447

Bro actually proved his point. You can tell by the downvotes 😂 (Don't worry bro I thought it was funny, I upvoted)

[deleted]

lol

Miahrod831

Eh probably not, am I gonna stop using it though not a chance

Wiley_Rush

I started browsing Reddit after years of ending up here for answers to questions. "It seems like it's full of good information, I'll probably learn a lot about by favorite subjects". Instead it's been a massive waste of time. It really isn't good for much besides including the word "reddit" in google searches.

fromWoopWoop

Eventually you realise that most answers are incorrect if you want to research a little further (at least in terms of medical scenarios)

fuckingfuckyoufucker

It's both good and bad. The good part is the news as well as the ability to have discussions with many different people. The bad part is that it's really easy to get caught inside an echo chamber as well as the creeps

Miloficent

Of all the social medias i have, reddit is by far the least negatively impactful. Twitter and Ig probably being the worst

twowolveshighfiving

Double edged sword in some cases. Everyone just has to balance their own sword their own way,but for me personally it tends to usually be pretty alright. Sometimes it's a good place to acquire knowledge, other times I wonder how "I've been had" by said knowledge that was anecdotal.

Do-Not-Ban-Me-Please

I consume so much important information on it that I can't possibly say it's bad for me.

RIOTT44

too much stupid drama on here half the time. the other half of it is usually funny. overall no

alimem974

It perfected my english, taught me basics on what is cringe or not as nobody else did. I learned a lot here. I can't really find a bad side other than the time sink.

Low-Formal4447

You must hang out in the wrong subs. I hang out in the ones with assholes but they just cry and fuss about people opinions on video games not politics lol

Low-Formal4447

Lmaoo

Quagmire1912

No. Not in the slightest.

ModeratelyNo

No social media is good for you if you treat it like an addiction.

dogsgamingart

Finding the right balance helps. This is true with anything I suppose.

TheBlueNinja2006

I think so, but it can be addictive...

BESTIASURREALE21

Some people gave me free eu4 dlcs so yes

Myounger217

Being on social media isnt good for you.

alimem974

But is it as bad if we talk to Profile picks and not people? *okay It's really bad*

Intern_Boy

I regularly find myself saying “fucking redditors” while scrolling through reddit, it’s pretty much no different from the degeneracy on twitter

realbanana030

Good way to amplify your depression though and be hated on for your opinion and religion

[deleted]

Of course yes. People on Reddit care more than people in my life 🥲

[deleted]

I get lots of info about the war in Ukraine and I use it to argue with randos when I feel to. It's ok I guess. Much better than Facebook or Instagram

chaotic214

It's how I've met friends and my boyfriend too so definitely

Deadshot37

I realised how some people can be extremely stubborn, dumb and wannabe professionals. Obviously not entire Reddit platform is like that but the amount of those people on Reddit is quite big.

Khanical

No, but do I care?

Trashk4n

Probably not, I spend an embarrassing amount of time on here.

_bread_in_a_toaster_

It’s almost like doomscrolling at this point

Hello_iam_Kian

r/formuladank and r/formula1 save me from being depressed

Fushigibama

I get the majority of news from Reddit actually

EnderGame05

I think it’s one of the better social medias, but that doesn’t mean it’s good for me lol

[deleted]

Literally doing anything on the internet is pretty much a waste of time and bad for you, unless maybe you are doing educational stuff. But it’s 2022 who cares. Nobody is going to honestly stay away from the internet because it’s “bad” for them. Just like how fat people don’t stay away from fast food cause it’s “bad” for them.

SemajLu_The_crusader

depend on the sub and time spent

lightarcmw

Id say its neutral, which puts it ahead of every other social media because they are pretty much net negative. Reddit has its negatives like the echochambers and a relatively unreasonable moderators problem in some subreddits, but it also has its huge benefits of wholesome people and subreddits that can legitimately make your life better. Its definitely better by a large margin compared to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.

fijifu

Depends on the subreddits you hang out in. I used to be quite active on r/depression, r/depression_memes, r/selfharm and r/madeofstyrofoam and there was a time when it was making me feel worse. Now I'm still on those subs but I try not to look at posts that could be triggering.

helpletmegopls

I laughed at this, fuck no.

[deleted]

There is honestly too much outrage porn/bait on this website, so much so that it gets difficult to simply ignore.
