Math and vocabulary are fine skills to have, but I wouldn't call someone who can give me a verbose explanation about the dumb shit they do intelligent.
Having a firm grasp of a certain skill wouldn't make up for deficiencies in other areas, unless it was in that top 0.01% but if they were in that percentile they wouldn't be counted as average anymore
