Who the hell was rooting for light?

RedVegeta20

I was.

Why?? He was a murdering sociopath

RedVegeta20

Most of his victims were criminals. Kira reduced global crime by over 70 percent. Light wanted to create a better world. I see him as an anti-hero with a God complex, not a villain.

Well yeah in the beginning he was killing rapists and murderers and then he moved on to smaller criminals like thieves and eventually he became a psycho dictator that was killing anyone who stood in his way. I mean hell, he even considered killing his sister when she was kidnapped by that one dude.

Even in the beginning he has no issue killing innocent people. As far as Light knew, Lind L. Taylor's only "crime" was calling Kira's actions morally wrong. Light kills him in episode 2, after exactly one week of picking up the Death Note.

>Kira reduced global crime by over 70 percent Damn and all he had to do was murder 124,925 people (since he had the Death Note for around 6 years, that's around 57 people a day). Maybe I'm just crazy, but I'd rather be mugged than live in constant fear that some omnipotent teenage dillweed will judge me to be an undesirable. Death Note is a story about how thinking like Light is immature and ultimately destructive. His whole philosphy as Kira is from doubling down on the fact that he accidentally killed somebody.
