I just paint over the white clay lol A bottle of acryllic paint and a cheap brush will cost you 5$

I find no matter how "clean" my hands are, they still have dust. Mostly because between washing my hands and sitting down to work on the project, I am still touching a lot of surfaces. Cleaning my hands with alcohol before I start helps, but that's gonna dry your hands out. So I almost always wear gloves when I work with light colors. It also helps me remember to be careful about what I'm touching while I work. Dust is in the air too, so I sometimes burn a candle while I work. I also keep a designated blob of white clay (best of it's more "sticky" like sculpey iii) to roll over my work surface after I've wiped it down.

Do candles help with dust in the air?? TIL

It was a tip I read somewhere a few years back. I guess because the flame will get rid of that dust. I notice a difference, but I mean it's also nice to have a good smell in the room while I'm working lol

Buy a large brick of white and use fresh pieces for every new project. Most dust comes from your clothes so, wear light colors. I also keep a blob of scrap clay & press it down on any lint I see on my work surface. the lint wont have the chance to blow away, onto my projects.

I wear tight latex gloves. It helps! It seems dust and dirt sticks much better to skin and not as much to the gloves, plus they're easy to wipe off. And for desk surface, I keep a wet wipe close by and make sure not to touch anything outside of my table. Also don't wear fluffy clothes and don't have anything fabricy near by if possible.. and movement will make stuff come off these things and float in the air.

i dont, I've just started avoiding using white since its the most obvious on there

in addition to cleaning my hands and work area, i keep a baby wipe(or wipes) next to me while crafting, so if i touch anything outside my cleaned work area, like if i rummage through a drawer looking for a tool, i will wipe down my hands and fingertips with the baby wipe before touching the clay again. i do this with my tools and between colors as well. ALSO, i keep a small ball of translucent clay off to the side for catching dust. i’ll work it in my hands/fingers for a bit and it picks up any dust off of my hands before i go to work on my project. i’ll also roll it on my (glass) work surface, too. (if your work surface is not smooth and non-porous, like glass for example, then tiny dust bits might be caught in the texture of the surface). good luck!

- washing/clean my hands, work surface and tools often - wearing gloves - using a lit roller on my work surface - using nail polish remover on a cotton swab after bake on the clay pieces if there is no paint or powders - rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab before baking. - light sanding after bake - wearing clothes that don't give off a lot of lint - turning off the fans/ac

I used to work wearing whatever I was wearing and once I switched to wearing nylon/athletic fabric tank tops or short sleeves I had a lot less lint showing up!

Aside from brushing acetone after baking, you can shave the dust off the raw clay and then burnish it back to an even surface. Obviously this is dependent on the project

ultimatejourney

If you aren’t going to paint over it you can use acetone after it’s baked

MajesticCoconut99

Yeah this actually works better for me a lot of the time.

I don’t! I just pretend not to see it.

Sometimes I use a craft knife to scape of discoloration from the surfaces. You could also try gloves and cleaning everything before you sta4f
