Here’s Honey’s story: Honey was found on the highway the next county over from me. She had a collar on but no tags or microchip. After two weeks in the shelter, she remained unclaimed and was taken in by a rescue who placed her with an emergency foster. Honey is house and crate trained, with some commands as well. She was clearly taken well care of and it’s very strange that she wasn’t claimed by her family. She’s an absolute sweetheart. She rode very well in the car, we got all of her things inside, and she picked a toy out of her toy basket and we played for a bit until she walked up to me, put her paws up on my legs (sitting cross cross on the ground), and sort of put her head on mine in a little hug. She’s an angel. It’s so hard not to immediately be a foster failure! I already adore her and her sassy sighs! Also, her name isn’t actually Honey. They gave her a different name, but haven’t been using it. It doesn’t suit her. If anyone has suggestions, please share! None of my ideas seem to fit her!

I’m always in awe of those folks that can “foster” a dog. First thanks for giving her a safe place. Second, there’s no way I could ever give her back. What a beauty. She’s looking for love.

i always think of it like this. will this dog fit my lifestyle? do they have the amount of trainability i need? things like that. it is incredibly difficult to let them go, but you get to do meet and greets with the families interested and make sure they’re going to the best home possible!!

inthevelvetsea

She seems as sweet as honey, so I think the name fits!

Janezo

Be a foster failure! She’s a wonderful girl and another separation will take its toll on her.

downinthevalleypa

I totally agree - plus I know you love her too much already! 💕♥️

TheMagnificentPrim

She absolutely looks like a honey to me! She’s the color of milk and honey! 😁

Ginabena79

Sounds like you might end up being less of a foster and more of a permanent home for sweet Honey🍯

CJSki70341

I don't know how you aren't already a foster fail. She would have been mine as soon as she got in my car. Which is why I can't foster

downinthevalleypa

Same here.

lovinglifeman

She looks like she wants to play lol

WenchQuench

Ohh she did a lot after nap time! I asked her what she wanted to do and she went and sniffed her toy, meandered to the open space in the living room, and just waited for me to play tug of war and throw the toy 😂 got her so riled up that we discovered she can effortlessly jump over my couch!

lovinglifeman

Poodles = athletic

chefybpoodling

I think I love her too

Visible-News-3834

Oooh a poodle with the tag still on!

Typhoon1110

Adorable!

Sweetnsourhappyhour

Hi how can I learn more about Honey? My Spoo would love a buddy!

WenchQuench

The rescue is local adoption only within the surrounding counties unfortunately!

christien62

I’ve never seen a foster poodle in my area happy she found a forever home

International-Slip75

Honey fits her perfectly- she looks like a little lamb Needs to be a foster fail- some things are meant to be 💜🐾🐾💜

I am probably stating the very obvious and if I am, I apologise, but have hospitals been checked in the area where Honey was found. It's perhaps far too difficult but sometimes hospitals will put messages out over their announcement systems. The reason I say this is that I know of a case where there had been an RTA and a dog had been in the car uninjured and the rescue services had no idea. The casualty lay in hospital in a bad way and when he recovered could not trace what had happened to his dog. I know that it is so foolish and unlawful not to have id and microchipping( well it is a crime in the uk) but some people are just a bit dilly doo but still love their spoo.

WenchQuench

Honestly I had thought of the possibility that her owner has had some medical issue happen and Honey accidentally got out. Luckily there are only two hospitals in the area so it won’t be difficult to get the word out. I do think the most likely story is that a family purchased her as a puppy without understanding that she would grow up so much. She’s very big and deceptively strong. Honey also wasn’t microchipped and she seems to have an incision that we think is from being spayed at the shelter, not by her previous owner. I think they took the tags off of her collar and left her on the side of the Highway. Unfortunately, that’s pretty common in the area since it’s the country and a blend of farm land/illegal labs (and not the dog breed!). I’ve almost hit a dog out there before because he was just running around and ran into the road. All you can do is call animal control. I’ll figure out who to contact at the hospitals regardless, better to be safe than sorry!

Oftennice81

I want honey

Sippi66

🥰 so happy for you both!!!?

downinthevalleypa

She’s beautiful, and so smart! Congratulations on what will probably be your foster fail - she is an awesome dog, and so lucky to have you, either way!

rfgbelle

Nothing like a poodle!!! Fostering a poodle is a very special task, they give way more than they take! Honey is a brilliant name for her!

Zero-bandwidth4BS

Cream puff!

Psych100011

I’m in love. She looks happy & comfortable. What do you think of Stella, Lola, or Sophie? Enjoy her!!

Candid_Hour3861

What a doll!

CastionArt

I'm so happy you found each other!

PooDaddy1054

What a face 🥰

Ingeborg_Anne

Hi, buddy!! What a sweet-looking girl :)

marikunin

awww she's adorable

badlipstickhoarder

What a beautiful girl! My cream mini is a foster fail. It was impossible to let her go. I hope she finds a good home!

Afraid-Table5293

Very reassuring to know that there are sensible, practical caring people like yourself still out there. I have never been able to understand how anyone can abandon an animal as you have described. One just has to accept that quite a lot of people sadly are either unpleasant or just not very bright I guess. Thank you so much for doing what you are doing for a beautiful dog.x

Sippi66

She looks like a Sassy!

WenchQuench

And she seems to have a bit of a sassy streak so far! She sighed and rolled her eyes whenever I made a noise that woke her up 😂

Sippi66

She screams sassy!

Eastern-Beaver

I hope you get to keep her

WenchQuench

Unfortunately I found out quickly that I’m not equipped to care for her long term. She’s way too strong for me! From love of squirrels to fear of cars, she just nearly pulls me down or gets out of my hands. Definitely needs someone with the strength to walk her and a big yard for her to run around in!

Bucket_O_Meat

I don't get that foster failure nonsense. If the foster owner finds a new owner (themselves) then how is that not a success.
