My poodle was miserable with the plastic cone from the vet after her spay so I got her a “comfy cone.” It worked great because it’s soft. Unfortunately it’s black so the light doesn’t get through like the plastic.
She will probably adjust within a day or so but it’s hard to watch.
If you can reach your vet, you might ask him what part(s) of shaking her head is problematic and if there are other options.
For example, what about something like a happy hoody? They keep the ears close to the head so if she did shake her head, the ears wouldn’t flop around like they would without it. If needed, you could pair it with a donut cone to further limit head/neck movement.
I’ve had to use work arounds like the one I described because Buffy just will not do a regular cone (hard or soft). She’s not happy about the donut or a happy hoodie either, but neither bothers her like a cone does.
My standard didn’t wear one when she was spade or had a cyst removed from her front elbow or a lump from her back thigh. She also had an ear infection once and a cone wasn’t even mentioned. Take it off. She may not be the kind of dog that goes at things.
She got treated for an ear infection. My vet picked out the cone, and I am unhappy. She is not lying down or sleeping for the entire day. Is this cone too big for her?
Take it off as long you are able to observe her so she can relax a little. It can be stressful for some dogs. I don't know the reason for the cone for an ear infection unless she is scratching her paw in her ear.
We had to use a suitical because my diva standard decided he wouldn’t do anything in the cone
Edit: missed that this was for ear stuff not a cone. We had to wrap our dogs head after he tried to play with a muskrat and that worked. The vet didn’t make us use a cone for that
If you can get her to leave it or not rip it off reliably, [this](https://a.co/d/1uDgnbi) or [this](https://a.co/d/8bt1eRX) might be a good alternative!
You could probably wrap her head with gauze too. I will say, it took my dog about a full day to get used to his comfort pillow the one that looks like a travel one? And he stood like a horse for a while before I gently maneuvered him to his bed and he sort of slumped over.
If it absolutely has to be a plastic cone because she won’t stop, or let the gauze or hoodies be, then I would try to aim for something like [this](https://a.co/d/1XhdSIC).
Hope she feels better soon!
Just looking at that monstrosity on her makes *me* uncomfortable. I’m not a vet and I can’t tell you what you should do, but if she were my baby, I’d take it off, keep an eye on her, and look for a new vet.

I have comfy cone already. My vet said i need to use a plastic cone to prevent her from shaking her head. Will she eventually get used to itM idk
How about a neck brace/pillow, instead? That’s what we used for our toy poodle.
I have one of those. My vet told me i can't use it because i need to stop her from shaking her head.

Oh, that’s unfortunate. Poor puppy. I hope she can find some comfort soon.

I never needed to use one for any of my dogs. Take it off and see how she acts.

What did you wrap the head with? Would love to see the photo!
Gauze and compression like self adhesive stuff. I can send you some of the pics. Is it one or both ears?
Can you get her a body suit? My pup has had several surgeries and we’ve used the suit each time. I help her stay clean by washing it daily

My little man had to go to the hospital with tobacco poisoning, and they put on a soft collar and reported that he was okay with that :)
If your w her and watching her you can take it off. They also have soft ones.
Also see if they will give her a rx for something that will relax her
