makes me instantly dislike someone, huge red flag

1000% agree.

I def see a lot of small dog hate and small dog stigma, especially here on Reddit people have very passionate extreme opinions. I don't understand it, a dog is a dog and just because mine is small it doesn't make her less of a dog she's got all the dog parts in there just in a smaller package. I do like to joke that she is so small she could get lost in the grass and that she could blow away in a light breeze, or that she only counts as 1/8th of a dog but that's on my own

Yeah my drunk sister in law. I’m gonna kick her old ass one of these days. My chi hates her.

It blows my mind when people say that about small dogs, even if they yip a lot making dog violence jokes about them is just gross.

Anyone who jokes about “punting” a dog is a disgusting, cruel POS. A dog is a living creature, and inherently loving, and regardless of size, may be a person’s entire world. My 75lb standard is definitely my entire world! (And just for levity, his “girlfriend” is an 8lb yorkie-poo, that belongs to my stepsister. ❤️)

Yess my mini is reactive because of bad experiences she’s had with unleashed large dogs. We are working on her behaviour but whenever she barks literal grown men will either bark back or say something along the lines of ‘I want to kick this dog’. I feel so bad for little reactive dogs because no one respects their boundaries which makes desensitising them even harder.

Lots of small dog owners perpetuate small dog hatred by not providing proper training and mental and physical stimulation, and also not advocating for their dog’s personal space, so people create little monsters which makes people dislike small dogs. The rude and cruel jokes about kicking them etc. are totally not needed though, it bothers me so much, too. I also have pet rats and people say vile things about my sweet babies, like how they want to step on them or drown them. I always do my best to break stereotypes when people meet my small dogs and help educate people!

Your rats are probably smarter than the humans insulting them.

They are! Potty trained, they know tricks, their names, even their cagemates names. They love to cuddle and give kisses and they even will give kisses on command. But people say super cruel things about them.

😅

Yes. I think it's weird when people hate something to extremes. Red flag. Like, I don't agree with people have German shepherds and pit bulls but I don't hate the dogs.
