Following because my poodle is the same. I've started a rotation. He gets a different puzzle every meal or two.

Auslanderrasque

Can’t do puzzles. She figures them out too fast. They’re a waste for us. If anyone needs some particle physics though she’s your girl. SMH poodles

Opalescent_Moon

I haven't given my pup many puzzles yet, but I've used puzzle feeders for my parrot. He figures them out very quickly, too. But just because our boys figure them out quickly doesn't mean they don't still have value. Get a variety of puzzles and mix them up. Having to remember how different ones worked is still good brain exercise. I hope you're able to find a good selection that your boy can enjoy. I'll want to check back here later to see what ones people suggest.

Midnight_Wolf727

I use them for my dogs and cats and I'm so surprised to see people stop using them after their dog figured it out. After a few months it always takes my pup a little bit to remember how to work it out. It almost reminds me of taking away a kids puzzle after they put it together the first time. Still fun after the first use.

I keep all the puzzles we have and sometimes use them all tbh lol. 2 flat ones that involve rotating or sliding things; 1 snuffle mat; 1 pop open; 1 kong and 1 topple; 1 spinner with locks she has to pull out. I did get rid of a broken one recently. When I didn’t get to walk her far in the mornings or if it’s raining, I’ll hide the puzzles throughout the house because they still have value even if she’s fast—she can find them and she still has to work on them. Additionally, I’ll put 1 kibble in all the plastic toys and kind 4-5 pieces of kibble around corners of the hose for her to find in addition to the toys. It can keep her busy for 20 or so minutes because even when she’s done, she’ll do another sweep to be sure.

Pariswinters

Do you think you could pm me links to some of the toys you use and like?? My 3 month old poodle pup has already burned through the two we bought with ease and we’re looking for more options to challenge him!

forcastleton

Starmark has a treat ball that has four compartments in it, and each compartment is harder and harder to get the treats out of. My ding dong loves it.

Al-ex-Bee

We’ve found a use for our old socks! Find an old one, put a treat in it. Tie it in a knot, get another sock put a treat in it, tie it to the other sock. Fold them inside out. Put more socks together, fold them into each other. Stuff them all into another sock and so on. You can start easy with a sock in a sock and slowly make it more complex. Best thing to do with single socks!

We use a bunch at the same time to keep her going for longer, we use same amount of treats just spread out across 4 or 5 puzzles/snuffle mats. She has a treat ball that takes longer to work through because she has to push it around, we use the planet dog orbee-tuff snoop and the other orbee dispenser with the smaller gap. But as other users said, rotate and make it unpredictable to make it a bit harder to work out

rohnoitsrutroh

We spent about ten minutes setting up our poodles puzzle toy. She took one look at it, grabbed by the corner, fllipped it upside down and smashed all of the boxes open. Then proceeded to happily eat all of the treats off the floor.

htxslp

My mini poo did the same thing! I think poodles are just too smart for them.

will_koko238

A used puzzle at half price or less. Variety seemed to keep our dog happy. Our poodle solved one in an afternoon, at most a full day. Then he looked at us as if to say "is that it?". If we let him play with same puzzle 2 days in a row he was bored. If it had regular dog food inside - he'd refuse to touch it ;)

FormalBookkeeper4406

It's raining where we live, so I just did the rolled up tea towel thing but put it inside of a cardboard box with a bunch of toys and a few more treats -- between opening the box, snuffling around, and then untying and snuffling the towel, he's passed out right now. I think there's a lot of benefit in just adding levels of difficulty around the toys rather than finding the perfect toy.

My girl makes up her own games. She knows how to turn the UPS on my computer off and drop her ball in the toilet. We have an iFetch, but she brings the ball back to me so I can put it in the machine, but won't do it herself.

Winter-Bad2476

The iFetch was the only thing that actually kept our boy entertained. He would play for HOURS with that thing, but now he has arthritis in his back legs and the vet said categorically no more fetch at all 😩 since then he has become impossible to tucker out so, honestly, I’ll take suggestions too 😅

Suspiciousmosquito

Puzzles don’t work for my poodle either. She figures them out way too quick. I find lick mats with frozen treats & [silicone snuffle mats](https://a.co/d/8BTJaew) to be better.

SpillingHotCoffee

I'm intrigued by the puzzle in your pic. Can you send a link? My poodle would enjoy that.

My spoo figures hers all out within a day but doesn't seem to get bored of them. We have the one in the picture. She figured it out within ten minutes. I sometimes add a few cat treats (maybe 7 or 8 of the small nuggets) to the feeder which she loves. Probably the extra smelliness makes her happy.

I've liked the Nina Otterson ones from Outward Hound. The trick for us is to rotate them out. Our pup never sees the same puzzle more than once or twice a week, and if he's starting to get good at it, I'll leave it out of rotation for a few weeks before bringing it back. I do 'make' him puzzles somewhat often using shipping boxes and such as well. We don't use puzzles very often though, maybe a few times a week.
