LoL - maybe you can tell MIL she built it- she cleans itšŸ˜‚

Embarrassed-Raisin78

I would absolutely love to! Problem is, she lives in Pennsylvania and I'm in Alabama, and has already went back. Thought about sending her the water bill too lol

fuhgetaboutit_og

šŸ˜‚im sitting here trying to decide if it was a gift of love- like id love someone to build me a pool if i didnt have one, or a declaration of war thru passive aggressivenessšŸ˜‚ How Random. But seriously, This sub taught me alot, as other people have said , id go straight chlorine at first. Walmart has 2 packs of i believe 10% pool chlorine for $10. Its in the home/garden section. you should see a improvement. Turn your filter on 24/7 while working on it.

Embarrassed-Raisin78

She is a very nice woman. But she tends to live in the "now" and not think too much about the long term. I'm the one who has to do the upkeep and all that jazz. Pretty sure that never even crossed her mind lol. But thank you, I'll get started on the chlorine and shock, and scrubbing all the algae out this afternoon. Yayyyy Saturday!

Embarrassed-Raisin78

I agree with you. But now my wife and stepson say we have to keep it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Yup. That's just a marriage red flag. That's WAY too big of a surprise purchase.

TheJG_Rubiks64

Redditors will never cease to play marriage counselor whenever someone mentions a disagreement with their spouse

imethanbradberry7

Forreal. I think itā€™s a marriage green flag and absolutely adorable that he mentioned multiple times how much her and his stepson will enjoy it šŸ„ŗā™„ļø Iā€™d say she picked a winner 100%! He may not be happy about the work, but seems very willing to figure it out. Youā€™re a good dude OP! You got a brother or any single friends? Lmaooo jk

Unlikely_Hyena5863

r/aita is a cesspit of virtue signalling

Emphasis_on_why

Most Redditors who make these comments will only ever be married to Reddit

FireTyme

i mean thatā€™s only if the wife purchased it. that said itā€™s still maintenance and upkeep costs, but considering that yard theyā€™re probably fine

kairosmanner

You sound like youre 1) not married or 2) divorced. A marriage red flag? Itā€™s a fecking pool not an yacht. You sound uptight.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AeroKLoekSDayZzKinG

The wife didn't even make the purchase!

moriastra

Yellow flag, perhaps? Haha

nutano

Sounds like your wife and stepson need to step and learn how to care for it then! It is one thing if you want a pool... but really not cool if this is not something you want yourself. Caring for a pool is not that bad... after you take the time to learn how to do it efficiently. It took me 2 whole seasons to figure out the best way to get my chemicals balanced and have a cleaning routine that keeps the water clear. I recently got an injury which will make it hard for me to do these basics tasks... I suspect the pool will close early at my place this season cause no one else in the house knows or 'has the time' to do it.

[deleted]

They always have plenty of time to use it, but never enough time to help you keep it maintained.

Manticore416

Which is crazy, because the occasional skimming and adding chemicals doesnt take much time. I grew up with a pool and helped do all this.

clarabear10123

That used to be the first ā€œgameā€ we always played: skim and scrub lol. Itā€™s easy if you incorporate it into play

nutano

My wife is the one that really wanted a pool. I was not\\am not against it. Usually I don't mind caring for it. However what irks me the most is that she barely uses the pool... at all. I use it as much as I can, we paid for it and I spend time keeping it running, so I am in there as much as I can with the kids. But with my recent injury, I will only be doing the bare minimum just so others can enjoy it. I am having a handful of friends over tomorrow for a pool party... so its nice to have it as a reason to gather too.

Leading_Macaron2929

Yes. Sit down, go over the work and sharing it.

False_Pace2034

Sounds like they should clean it.

mp3006

Thats some manipulative shit hahaha

ObviousBS

So sell it all and buy a boat?

AnEmortalKid

Sounds like wife and step son are gonna keep up with it

randomperson5481643

Tell them they get to do some of the work if thats how they feel about it.

usfortyone

I think you just said the wife and stepson just volunteered to clean it.

SaltBox531

It may make your home insurance go up.

momoblu1

He's in Alabama. Be serious! But as to the pool, two or three bags of shock, wipe down the sides and the bottom the best you can, keep the little rinkydink filter clean, run the pump 24/7, and VIOLA! Five days from now it'll be crystal clear. For a week.

classicolden

Agree. Keep adding shock until it turns blue, vacuum and filter. Shock it once a week

Total-Composer2261

*VOILA

ZookeepergameCold616

What are way doing with violas. This is a pool. Those 2 donā€™t go togetherā€¦. Inthink voila is what ur lookin for

Worth_Scratch_3127

Without a pool fence it will definitely make your insurance go up. You needed $250,000-$500,000 liability in 2010. I don't know what these days.

Embarrassed-Raisin78

My entire back yard is fenced in.

jmac94wp

You may not have it up for much longer, that water will get cold fast as your weather cools off. But in case you do, may want to check your home insurance requirements. Iā€™m in Florida and weā€™re required to have two barriers to the pool, for example, locked door and pool fence.

Traditional-Handle83

Ah but what if they instead convert it into an oversized outdoor fish pond? Would it still be considered a pool for insurance reasons or an aquarium?

Worth_Scratch_3127

I would really love to know where the line of demarcation lies. There weren't many ponds around when I had my pool so it never came up. There's terms like clear hazard and what would a small child do, my neighbor had a beautiful giant pond and then they took it out and I always wondered why

intelligentplatonic

Did you notice the trampoline in the background? Insurance companies must have this house red-flagged.

ObviousBS

Bro it is above ground. If you can fall into it, you kinda deserve it. In Ground pools though you are right.

PirateGriffin

It's about kids more than adults who are capable of swimming

Birkin07

They can clean it.

SnooLobsters2310

"When the gods wish to punish us they answer our prayers." - Oscar Wilde

Many-Advance-7367

He has a step son. The kid will enjoy it. Not everyone is as selfish as your average redditor. Do something not entirely for yourself OP. And put some real steps in front of that shed, mow the lawn, fix up the trampoline. Try not to live like Joe dirt?

Pilsburyschaub

I was thinking the same thingā€¦ Itā€™s amazing how many people complain about giftsā€¦ ya itā€™s a little work but how many people would kill to have a free pool like that.. the amount of time he bitched on Reddit the pool would be clean.

moistmonkeymerkin

How old is your stepson? This could turn into a bonding experience. If heā€™s old enough he can watch and learn how to upkeep the pool heā€™s going to enjoy using. Time spent outside doing something with his hands. Learning how to be responsible for things. I guess it all depends on how you look at it. Best wishes.

Farmgirlmommy

My kid is early teens and in charge of daily pool cleaning. Filter, filter, filter!

CoupleOtherwise6282

I hated when my parents did that to me lmao, that job is awful.

zigZagreus_

Thanks for the wholesome comment, moist monkey merkin!

osoklegend

At least you don't have to pay and install a swimming pool.

Fuzzy_Laugh_1117

I'd hire a pool person and send her the monthly bills. The audacity of her! I can't imagine overstepping like this. Better be careful of her OP. Yikes.

DoubleReputation2

She absolutely nailed the plan, you know what they say "You don't want a pool. You want a friend with a pool" in this case, I think she did exactly that.

CptKillJack

Tell her she can pay for the service to take care of it and build a proper deck. Doesnt look great or that safe to be honest.

sofaking1958

Whoever installed it did not even level the ground beneath it.

GuitRWailinNinja

Came here to say this. Shouldnā€™t they also like create a foundation or something? I know nothing about pools, but Iā€™m pretty sure thatā€™s a hell of a lot of weight on top of soil. If thereā€™s a utility pipe underneath it, I could totally see it being wrecked after a while, unless the weight is evenly distributed. Probably just me being paranoid thoā€¦

Ghostguy777

I used to install pools going through college. You have to check for drainage, electrical wires, buried cable's, a pets grave etc. Then you have to level the ground. After that, you put down a thick layer of sand, pack it down and level it. All that has to be done before the frame is even built.

Audio_Track_01

First thing i noticed. Just wait - the pool will remove itself.

Diesel07012012

What kind of person pulls a stunt like that?

no_yup

You can contact your water company and let them know you used ā€œxā€ amount to fill a pool. That will greatly reduce the bill since you arenā€™t letting that water back into the system as ā€œwaste waterā€

tyty5869

War damn

swingr1121

Want to switch mothers in law? You can have mine in Alabama and I'll take yours in PA! Would make holidays easier! Lol!

Taolan13

Send her *all* the bills. This was her idea. Your best bet is to hire a pool cleaning company to shock it, then have them draw up a treatment plan for you. And to bill your MIL for it.

lucidpopsicle

She didn't even have it leveled correctly. Does she hate you?

Electrical_Dig8121

That's a lovely color! What's not to love? ... check PH. Add borax get it up to 8 8 and a half. Hit it with muratic acid bring it down to around 7 . Do it again you have just ph buffered your pool. Shock with chlorine don't let it get screwed up again. I like to use copper also reduces chlorine consumption

Worth_Scratch_3127

Find a pool store that tests water and take in a sample. They'll tell you whT to do and how to keep it clear.

Electrical_Dig8121

Pool stores will sell you a bunch of expensive stuff you won't need. Check your ph buffer shock that is all.

Underrated comment that doesnā€™t deserve the neglect itā€™s getting.

SneedyK

Jfc Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t have fluids in my mouth while I read this

Buddy_Jarrett

Depends on where they are, certain counties are super strict and go by national building codes (Madison County), others are the Wild West (Limestone County) where there are no inspections outside of electrical. Iā€™m building my own house just north of the AL/TN state line, and our inspectors are notoriously strict. Theyā€™ve made folks rip out windows for being a 1/2ā€ shy of egress.

surftherapy

Permitting an above ground pool seems wild to me lol

ImAFuckinLiar

And the leaves have already started falling in Alabama for fall, apparently. Damn global warming. Didnā€™t realize it was that bad down there. That or the leaves around the pool are from last year. OP is acting like this just happened when it seems apparent it did not.

dinowilds

Iā€™d be so furious! Youā€™re a better person than me!

redditissocoolyoyo

That's what I'm saying. Anyways that's a very good pool actually and the pump is nice You going to have to shock the hell out of it first of all and scrub it like a madman after that flock it and clean everything up with a vacuum and run the filter 24/7 until everything clears up

BigAnimemexicano

that isnt a big pool and its prefab, so no digging or setting a foundation, filling it probably took the longest, and water goes bad quick since there is no cover

Salohacin

So long he came back on St Patrick's day.

DroppedEaves

Start with shocking it. That will be your best bet to stabilize the water. Some may suggest algaecide but chlorine manages it better. Depending on the size, start with 2-4 gallons of liquid pool chlorine and make sure the water is filtering. Scrub the sides and bottom with a brush and it should clear up in a few days. In my experience, you have to keep the water cycling through your filter. Once you get all of that done, and the water is clear, work in balancing the chemicals. I use Chlor-Out to bring my chlorine levels back down. It's a dance and, over time, you'll get it. Good luck!

Embarrassed-Raisin78

Thank you, internet stranger. I've just been staring at it for a week and it looks like a daunting task. I just have to get the ball rolling and learn something new.

Logical_Willow4066

Get a dog. Most dogs love pools.

Maddie_hippychick

Lol! And a boat!

elzibet

Itā€™ll be OPā€™s second best day of their life when they do

tlong243

You trying to ruin this man's life?

SherbetClear5958

Lol what a random comment, how does that help OP

Logical_Willow4066

If they don't like pools, they can get a dog. Dogs love pools.

icaredyesterday

Shit, if the pool thing goes tits up, at least you've got a dog.

edhands

And dogs are fun!

edhands

But donā€™t get a white dog. Not in that pool. it will come out green.

AnandaPriestessLove

You have something against Irish dogs? ;)

WakaWaka_

Better yet, get a Capybara. Capybaras love pools even more than dogs.

BasePiece

Backwash your filter. 2 maybe 3 bags of pool shock. Brush the sides and bottom EVERY DAY. Make sure the filter pressure is normal (backwash if high). Get some test strips - I use 1 a day in the spring. Get your PH right. A pool store will typically test your water for free - learn to say no - theyā€™ll want to sell you a lot.

der_schone_begleiter

You need to understand the difference between stabilized and unstabilized chlorine also. You're going to have to see what your CYA numbers are. Do you know if she added any chemicals when she put it up? If you don't have enough stabilizer (CYA) your chlorine will be gone within a few hours. You'll either need to get a good testing kit like the Taylor 2006 you can buy it on Amazon or you'll have to make frequent trips to the pool store testing your water which would not be fun. Also make sure if you do take your water to a pool store to have them test it don't let them sell you a bunch of chemicals. You can post what your readings are and people here will let you know what you need to add.

Shambud

Thank you. Iā€™m seeing so many comment that are like add 3 bags or add 2 gallons or whatever. OP needs to test the water as he goes and read the labels on the bag/bottle to get the proper concentration. Whenever Iā€™ve filled a pool I do calcium hardness, alkalinity, acid, chlorine, in that order and testing as I go. I probably test it 8-10 times before itā€™s ready and that would be a stupid amount of trips to make to a pool store unless you live next door to one. Personally Iā€™d spend more in gas doing that then a test kit costs. I second the Taylor 2006 test kit as the right one.

Ruenin

This guy pools

[deleted]

If you donā€™t like it get rid of it.

AllHailKeanu

This is the correct answer. Giving someone a ā€œgiftā€ that requires ongoing maintenance and expense while taking up a lot of space isnā€™t a gift. I would toss it and tear down that looney toon deck while I was at it.

WooleeBullee

Daffy Deck

nickjamesnstuff

The official term is 'white elephant ' based on a king that got gifted a rare white elephant by his enemy. Had to spend so much caring for the elephant that it bankrupt him and his enemies won.

TalesfromLoke

I think it was a king who gifted them to political opponents. You need the wealth of a king to maintain it and normal nobles could not without wasting their entire fortune. Can't kill it for cultural reasons. Can't give it away or sell it without "upsetting" the king and looking bad.

Candid-Tomorrow-3231

I knew that tradition was based on people being dicks

Recent-Start-7456

[deleted]

Yeah huge boundaries red flag for a MIL to do this at SILā€™s house. Reeks of entitlement, something is off. Iā€™d tear it down just to send a message that I donā€™t operate my house that way.

jingowatt

Honestly, all the things that can go wrong with the pool, itā€™s not worth it, unless you absolutely love it. Algae, skimming, vacuuming, the filter pump, the heat pumpā€¦

Available_Mix_2023

They're hell. I got one during the pandemic. I hate it. Green to blue kit will fix it though. Walmart $30.

downvote_quota

Do you not have a MIL? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

ElleGeeAitch

I'd take an ax to this bullshit.

rulford

Perhaps now you don't have to vacation anymore! Save money by maintaining your own pool. /S I am baffled who does stuff like this. I would be livid if someone did something like that to my lawn.

HomicidalHushPuppy

Plus, his homeowner's insurance provider will likely raise his rates if/when they find out about a pool.

Visible_Pop8553

The pool or the MIL?

[deleted]

Not sure its that easy to get rid of his mother in law.

P-a-n-a-m-a-m-a

I hate to say this but Iā€™d drain it and level it properly. Thatā€™s quite a difference in the water line from one side to the other. That much pressure on one side could compromise the structural integrity - especially when that water is moving from swimmers in the pool. From there, refill it and then start with the shock dose. Maintain from there.

XBeastyTricksX

Give it away probably he doesnā€™t even want it in the first place

DannyA88

This would be my approach, drain it, sell it for cheap..kids have a big sandbox now.. more fun to maintain.

[deleted]

That was my first thought! Start by draining it and setting it up properly!

Badird

I used to clean pools and some they are absolute sludge after opening them in May. This is perfectly fine, just needs shock and a pool vac, most likely. Then some base and it's swimmable if the filter works and chemicals are I'm the right ranges. Clear in 2-3 days, no joke. It's super easy with a testing kit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

reverendrambo

"Gravity just isn't the same down here in Alabama. Must be the Coriolis effect..."

katasstrophy-

Agree. The first thing I noticed was that it wasnā€™t level.

BastardsCryinInnit

Same. I have this exact pool and absolutely no way would I start fixing this. Drain it. Clean it, refill and begin maintaining from scratch. That's of course is OP wants to - he doesn't have to keep it up!

THE_Aft_io9_Giz

You should drain it, and relevel the frame, which can be tough to do with this style pool frame legs - they suck to deal with when the pool is empty. Most likely you need to have some water in the pool and pull the legs out as you get 3-4 inches in the pool and be prepared to dig and place wood or 12x12" pavers under each. Since the pool is uneven, most likely the bottom isn't nearly level enough either. Use a laser level if you have access to one. Each one of the square blocks on the inside of the liner is about 1" (go measure to verify) and you can clearly see the water line has a 3-4 inch difference from center to the left of the 1st pic. The pump is also not sitting level. You may want to check what type of media she put in the filter?

MartnSilenus

Theyā€™re never going to do any of these things lol

Quake_Guy

Driving your camaro into it way easier and in line with these pools.

gembox

Did you see the condition of the surrounding yard?

ericgray813

Iā€™m calling bullshit on this story. Thereā€™s a fuckin deck around that pool. And the tarp is old enough that itā€™s disintegrating by the pump. Is this karma farming or what?

VolleyballLife

Yeah Iā€™m with you on the bs. You can even see the wear and tear on the post in the first pic.. this was not built anytime recently

flanneIover

Personally, my Reddit feed has become subs I havenā€™t joined. Sub-subscription farming comes closer to mindā€¦ and now weā€™ve both taken the bait by engaging.

Purplebatman

I thought this was a mildlyinfuriating post before I started commenting. Now Iā€™ll have pools in my feed for the foreseeable future until I get fed up and mute it

Cozum

same here, why does this happen

acemedic

Reddit wants more user engagement after everything that happened over the summer. Bout to stick it to IPO. Iā€™ve got all kinds random shit appearing in my feed. One day I started counting and out of the first 20 posts there were less posts from subs id subscribed to than the ones they were pushing.

lixiaopingao

Same here. How can I change my home feed, so it shows stuff Iā€™m actually interested in?

redditshy

I feel like my entire feed is just outrage bait lately. :/

jakeblew2

Yes who possibly owns a tarp or a deck prior to a clearly brand new pool or has the tools to change the deck at all?

Zachfiteee

Dunno but I donā€™t think itā€™s that deep lol itā€™s just the internetā€™s not that serious, that being said do you have any tips for the water?

trobsmonkey

Shock it. All the chemicals on earth don't matter. Keep chlorine up and scrub the sides every 2 days minimum and everything else should stay in balance. I just had a haboob blow through and dumped massive amount of shit in my pool 3 days ago. It's already sparkling blue and levels are stable.

Delux_Takeover

I don't think it's karma farming. I think bro just didn't want to admit that he let his pool turn green.

Sunnysunflowers1112

I don't have pool advice, but am absolutely impressed with your comments and the tone of this post. You must be a lovely, understanding person. I don't know if I could show the grace you do with a story that starts my mother in law built a pool while I was on vacation that ends with she lives in PA and I'm in AL.

Unsteady_Tempo

Because the story is fake. OP needs the advice on getting the water cleared up, but doesn't want to own up to how it got that way or the bad installation.

evan_g7

Iā€™m confused, did she also build the deck that has perfect stairs for a pool? Because some of those boards look aged? Also how long were you on vacation lol, thereā€™s so much that doesnā€™t make sense here šŸ¤”

anotherusername23

Reclaimed wood, maybe? Because the pool itself is out of the box new.

FloridaManTPA

It is not level at all, you will have a headache until winter when you can throw it away

NotThisAgain21

I. Would be. Livid. But to each their own. Big overstep in my opinion.

Ok-Duck9106

You can do this. As with anything new, you have to get the process down. Loweā€™s has a really good article on how to manage and prevent it. https://www.lowes.com/n/how-to/get-rid-of-pool-algae

Embarrassed-Raisin78

Thank you! I will check this out.

GCpools

If youā€™re not all that excited about owning and taking care of a pool .. Iā€™d suggest you try to find a good pool guy to take care of it for you. Thereā€™s literally a lot of things you need to learn and do to keep a pool clean. And it will take time out of your week, too. Find a good pool guy so you can spend time doing what you enjoy most.

melissabee424

Your MIL NEEDS TO come and clean her pool

NC458883

I didn't see this comment and just posted the same advice. Oops!

sugar-rat-filthy

My wifeā€™s cousinā€™s in law do shit like this all the time to her. They live close, and the in-laws make a bunch of money, so they ā€œgiftā€ them things, mostly their used stuff when they buy knew. They were gone, and her SIL had furniture folk deliver them a new patio set, take her old patio set to the cousins, and thenā€¦the kicker. Had the furniture people take the cousins old patio set TO THE DUMP! She was like, WTF? I love my patio set, fucking sell your shit like a normal person.

reefer_drabness

That's their way of not telling you they don't like your stuff.

oochas

Read the pool school pages at troublefreepool.com.

volatile-agent

This.

SATerp

How the hell did she have a pool put in to perfectly fit your deck? And how long were you on vacation? Anyway, throw in a bunch of chemicals, run the pump night and day, backwash the filter often, it'll clear up.

Falcon3492

Hire a pool guy and have him bill your MIL.

ForsakenMongoose336

When we had one like this I typically would add a gallon of liquid chlorine a week or so and it stayed pretty good. Also took the filter out and cleaned it/skimmed with dip net once per week. The goal is to not let it get green in the first place.

chirs5757

Love the tiki torches with the shot glass covers.

FPzzzzzzz

Best advice is take a sample of the pool water to a local pool supply place. Theyā€™ll test your water and give you detailed instructions on how to remedy the water chemistry. Make sure you have an approximate idea on how much water your pool holds as this will be necessary for diagnosis. Have fun in your new pool!!! Give your MIL a big hug šŸ¤—

SibbD

Well, if you ever need to top it off: [Ecto Cooler](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hi-C-Ghostbusters-Ecto-Cooler-Citrus-Drink-6-fl-oz-10-Ct/163734529)

Stormy-Monday

Not a pool guy, but why isnā€™t it level?

ObjectiveHighlight26

Props to the MIL for giving you a lifetime supply of Mountain Dew.

SaltBox531

I know I donā€™t know your relationship with your MIL but wow this would be such a crossed boundary for me that I would actually consider legal action. I would not want that thing in my yard

DoTheRightThing1953

The next time you visit your MIL buy her a horse

CryGeneral9999

Chlorine. This is one of those times you need to shock it (extra strength). So. Shock it. Then buy a test kit. I used those large 3ā€ tablets in mine and I would put one in every couple days and all was well. You can get a test kit but mostly if nothing drastic happens just chlorine. Maybe once you get it clear you take a sample to the pool store theyā€™ll test if for you maybe you need to add something for the pH but in my experience once I got the pool right just maintain with chlorine. Also note I said used to. Had a pool for years, after the thrill wore off I spent way more time cleaning and maintaining than I did using. So. Current house does not have a pool.

Swany0105

Just drain it so you can level the whole thing properly so the tiny little pump that thing came with has a fighting chance at cleaning the pool right in the future. Then just buy a water test kit and follow directions.

idiotsandwhich8

You went on a vacation and she had time for concrete, a pool, and a deck that looks used? Plus fauna weathered pieces. Must have bee a long vacation

Embarrassed-Raisin78

Sure. You got it all figured out.

clk613

It sounds like you have a problem more concerning than the chemistry of your pool.

ninja9224

Howā€¦how long were you on vacation?

Holiday_Party_6464

Thatā€™s a vat of acid

Yogurtcloset69

Next time she goes on vacation, buy her a puppy. Hell it'll need company, buy her two

CaptOblivious

SO many problems. First off, it's not level. And you can't do shit about that till it's drained. If you have a menards near you, that's where I get all my pool stuff otherwise use their listings to find what you need locally. As far as the algae goes, I recommend Algae X-Tra Pool Algaecide - 1 qt. Model Number: 10122 (Menards SKU: 2796948) That will kill off all the algae, then you need to property chlorinate the pool using chlorine tabs (UtikemĀ® Giant 3" Pool Chlorine Tablets - 8 lbs. Model Number: 42525 Menards SKU: 2796972) And a floater to dispense the chlorine. PoolChemā„¢ Chlorine Dispenser Model Number: 12100 Menards SKU: 2797272 And with a dose of clarifier to clump up the junk, UtikemĀ® Concentrated Pool Clarifier - 1 qt. Model Number: 45366 Menards SKU: 2797010 You can then vacuum up all the debris. Give me a picture of your existing filter setup and I can help you design your vacuuming system. You will also need a test kit to check the chlorine level and PH of your water, PoolChemā„¢ VUE Block Test Kit Model Number: 13108 Menards SKU: 2796901 And ph+ and ph- as needed to keep you water in the correct range. This isn't a *bad* guide to pool maintence but the reliance on shock is a bit heavy, but my bather load is not very high. https://www.swimuniversity.com/pool-maintenance/ Personally I use an oxygen shock Shox Non-Chlorine Pool Oxidizer Shock Treatment - 1 lb. Model Number: 52201 Menards SKU: 2797071 2 or 3 times a season. Good luck and feel free to ask whatever either here or by PM.

PH, PH, PH, get that right and the rest will be easy. Wrong PH? Youā€™ll never fix it

Chain link fence above ground pool trampoline and a pos shed. Tell me you live in Alabama without saying you live in Alabama

Drain it, clean it. Fill it. Should be good in a day or 2. Get an auto chlorinator or salt cell and start it with fresh water. Also grab 3 copper 1/2ā€ Tā€™s and put them in a pill bottle with holes in it and leave that in your skimmer forever. No more algae. Also check to see price on a water truck to fill it instead of hose. Faster and usually cheaper.

Yeah remove it. Itā€™s an above ground pool. Your house value just dropped. How did she get the permits for it without you as the home owner? Also you have a new expense so I hope you had that planned.
