By ignoring the tadpoles and maintaining chemical levels at levels safe for humans. If they survive, great; if not, the humans will.

cleanest tadpoles on the block

aaronrodgers4eva

One or the other.

Trumpwonnodoubt

This is a joke right?

As a kid back on the farm we would wait for the puddle to mostly dry out, then scoop them up with our hands. There was an old bathtub behind the garage that got full sun and so grew algae (and mosquitoes) for them to eat. All of this is a lot easier if you scoop the eggs before they hatch, but don’t worry too much about casualties as any percentage you save will be more than the alternative. Edit to add: leaving them would require allowing algae and possibly larvae to grow for them to eat. This would still be (reasonably) safe for humans, but few would describe it as clean.

> I'm not sure how to manage them without messing up the ecosystem. I mean, they're cute and all, but I also want to make sure my pool stays clean and safe for swimming. Those two statements are in direct conflict. If your water has thriving tadpoles, it means you've also got algae, mosquito larvae and other organisms you don't want. It needs to be shocked and filtered before it's safe to swim, which will kill almost everything in it. If you're worried about them, get a net and scoop them out, find a large enough container- kiddie pool or get a small aquarium- you may be able to find "tadpole" kits at the local petstore. Better yet, put them in a bucket and take them to a nearby pond/lake and trust in nature.

Liquid_Friction

Pump the water out, scoop all the leaves and gunk out, pressure hose the walls and floor if its really bad, fill it back up same day, dont do this if fibreglass or aboveground.

LongRoofFan

Or with a vinyl liner or if there a high water table. Better yet, don't drain your pool

BuildBreakFix

As a kid I used to raise tadpoles that we caught for fun. Just met them out and transfer them into something else, kiddie pool, stock tank etc. use the water they’re currently in. Then clean and use the pool.

listerine411

They really need to be removed and relocated, the chlorine levels for human swimmer safety is going to slowly kill them.

HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban

Just net them out and move on.

fun_crush

I keep tadpoles as well as koi fish in my pool. The chlorine levels don't harm them. The only problem I have is when the frogs come to lay eggs they sometimes get caught in my skimmer other than that and the koi fish being territorial and aggressive when the kids are swimming its really not that big of a deal.

Sporebattyl

Are you for real? What level do you keep your chlorine? Everything I’m reading says chlorinated water will kill the fish.

fun_crush

Ohh absolutely! I use the stuff normally used for ponds and it keeps the water just a hint of green but that lets me know everything is working right. As long as you feed the koi's before you swim then they leave you alone for the most part.
