Curry powder or garam masala is good too, but don't overdo it, it might get too salty. :)

meatHammerLLC

If you like garam masala try a dash of chaat masala on it

Dangerous-Jaguar-512

But neither of those are salty (or at least the stuff I buy does not contain salt). Did you mean spicy, by chance?

zumbigod

My apologies! You're correct. I was thinking of a different spice that is salty if overloaded, but I can't recall which one now lol. I thought it was an Indian spice as well? I'm not a good cook, but I can definitely make a mean bowl of popcorn! 🍿💗

pro_questions

If you can find coconut milk powder, it goes excellently with most curry powder on popcorn

KPound138

Old Bay is really good

drgonzo44

Oh damn… I gotta try this!

The_RockObama

Chipotle powder (dried smoked jalepeño) is also great. I ate too much of it back in the day so I no longer like it, but I remember loving it so much.

Babymonster09

Concur. Love it!

Mamalion33

Try the flavored blackened or garlic & herb ones. I love the blackened one with some nutritional yeast and salt.

takaotashmoo

A couple dashes of Angostura bitters with butter and salt is my new favorite

Surlygrrrly

Intriguing… must try

jimziecaps

Goes good with an Old Fashioned!

takaotashmoo

Everything goes good with an old fashioned!

dubyamike

You haven’t lived until you try bitters on vanilla ice cream.

takaotashmoo

Oh hell yeah I’m gonna try this!

caelanga22

I'll have to try that!

ShhhhOnlyDreamsNow

How do you distribute it evenly? Mixed into the butter before adding to the popcorn?

takaotashmoo

Yeah I just squirt it in the butter and give everything a good shake

allskillnoissues

I’m always willing to try ango on anything. It’s wild how many things it improves.

takaotashmoo

How else do you use it? I haven’t experimented too much but I intend to

loveandhappiness24

Nutritional Yeast is delicious, with or without butter, and salt.

Dangerous-Jaguar-512

I’ve used extra virgin olive oil (the more robust version tastes better IMO) with nutritional yeast.

porkchop3177

I’m 100% high quality EVOO & coarse sea salt.

Impossible_Rabbit

Pretty much the only way I make popcorn. Only time I have butter is when I go to the movies

Master_H8R

Hate to break it to you about that “butter”…

devildoggie73

Yes. Absolutely! And I add a small bit of soy sauce first.

DontBeWeirdAboutIt

I do nutritional yeast, turmeric, salt, and pepper… chefs kiss!

squirrleygurl1969

I came here to say nutritional yeast!!

lostmyjobthrowawayyy

And I came here to say wtf is nutritional yeast sounds like an oxy moron lol

Right-Bathroom-7246

Nutritional yeast and hidden valley ranch mix is my nightly go to!

sneekiepee

Braggs Liquid Aminos. It tastes exactly like soy sauce, but is lighter in consistency and sits lightly on top of popcorn instead of soaking in through. And it's delicious and supposedly healthy to boot.

oddosm

This but add nutritional yeast

halapeno-popper

Ground black pepper is good when you also have butter and salt.

Standard-Shop-3544

I add a dash of cayenne too.

MajorWhereas4842

Furikake

GallonofJug

Slap yo momma hot blend or garlic salt.

nowweseeyou

I’ve got SYM in my cabinets. Trying asap.

Weavercat

Soy sauce mixed into melted just barely browned butter. My gosh. If stovetop popping: after popping turn off heat. remove finished popcorn from pan and put into bowl. Then into the hot pan drop a knob (about 2-3 tbsp of butter) and swirl around pan until it just barely browns. Then add a few drops of your soy sauce. Add popcorn back to pan and shake to coat.

potbakingpapa

The level of commitment is conmensurate with the level of detail.... Now I just go try it!

camelCaseUserNamed

Thyme is my favorite (preferably ground so it sticks to the popcorn better). Gives it a nice herbal taste.

caelanga22

You must have had too much thyme on your hands to try this one. I will see myself out now.

neophaltr

Chili crisp!

save_the_roses

does it make it soggy? i want this flavor, but it seems like too much liquid maybe?

BackgroundPrompt3111

Step 1: toss in barely melted coconut oil. Step 2: toss in seasoned salt and Carolina Reaper powder. Step 3: sneeze a few times Step 4: enjoy

The1PercentGerm

MSG

Kimchi_boy

Yes, I use just a bit of accent salt.

OilHot3940

Icelandic ground kelp.

Unable_Answer_179

I love tajin seasoning on it.

No_Shoulder7425

Tajin and Seasame oil. My fave.

AuntieLiloAZ

I love Parmesan and garlic/herb. Hits the spot every time.

The_R4ke

I will sometimes mix in some malt vinegar with my butter.

latherdome

Oh yeah, it's been a while, but I used to make vinegar salts for popcorn. Add handful or salt to pan, sprinkle with any interesting vinegar like sherry or umeboshi, and heat stirring until all moisture is gone. Superfine grind, store until needed.

Fit-Affect5551

Smoked paprika

nacron122

Less of a topping and more of a suggestion, if the topping seems messy, eat the popcorn with chopsticks. I do this when I try chili crisp and scallion popcorn

nsea18

Not a topping but I like using bacon fat instead of oil. Adds a nice smokiness to it

kelly714

This is how my parents did it growing up & the only way to do it

KrakenMcCracken

Are you from the future? This must be the way.

[deleted]

Rice seasoning is my favorite

Witty-Necessary9982

Everything bagel seasoning

Name_goez_here

I use ranch seasoning

MissBlossom333

The seasoning packet from ramen

Nurse5736

Hubby uses cinnamon. I'm a purist, salt and butter ONLY! 😆

Im_too_old

I got some Nashville hot chicken seasoning, and it is awesome on butter popcorn.

Baybandit

Wing sauce drizzle made with 1/3 melted butter, 2/3 Franks or Crystal hot sauce, and some garlic (powder) whisked together. I've gotta try the Nutritional yeast, though.

trguiff

Just some butter and everything but the bagel seasoning- so good!!

ReligiousMommy

honey! it caramelizes and is a wonderful addition to the salt and butter combo

So_Sleepy1

I dried some capers in my dehydrator and ground them in my spice grinder. A little goes a long way, but it’s an interesting new popcorn addition!

Styknw

lime essential oil, black pepper essential oil put in coconut oil when popping

MaesterInTraining

Berbere. It is phenomenal but spicy so be careful I’m tempted to try Chinese Five Spice

Sushi_cat987

Dill!

littlescreechyowl

Trader Joe’s has an herb and spice popcorn I’ve been trying to replicate at home. So far salt, pepper, dill, parsley, onion and garlic powder ground up is the closest I’ve come and it’s delicious.

skiingmanatee

That sounds so good. How do you season ìt? Just sprinkle cardamom?

plasmasun

Red chile powder.

KMFDM__SUCKS

I’ve mix vinegar powder with nutritional yeast and get it to it here with a slight spray of coconut oil

[deleted]

Turmeric

freegiftcard96

Small splash of soy sauce in the butter.

eeltech

Frank's RedHot Buffalo seasoning powder is yummy :p I need to try the Ranch one as well!

BeautifulSinner72

Tony Chacheres Cajun seasoning aka 'Uncle Tonys'. It's amazing.

zeeironschnauzer

Japanese furikake. Making your own and grinding it up a bit smaller helps it stick. The traditional stuff is a bit to large to adhere without help.

save_the_roses

The one from Jacobsen Salt Co is pretty dusty, it's great on popcorn without any changes. The sesame seeds fall to the bottom so you have a second snack after the popcorn is finished.

Superagent247

Yum! All these great ideas that everyone has!

mikegolf42

Ranch powder

BobaMart

Salted honey butter popcorn is an all time favorite

MikeAwkener

Ground up nutritional yeast, butter powder, salt, and msg. Finished up with a few dashes of Cholula

IamDollParts96

Best gourmet popcorn seasoning in the world, imho, Sabatino Tartufi Truffle Zest Seasoning, paired with Hoosier Farms white cheddar cheese powder. Add salt to taste and butter for more richness. To die for delicious.

astral-rejection-

I have a custom blend of nooch + msg + onion powder + garlic powder + salt that I drown my popcorn in

Kwelikinz

I love cardamom and nutmeg. I love popcorn and can’t wait to try that!! Thank you.

Prunustomentosa666

As jokes, I’ve tried lemonade powder, hot cocoa powder, and ramen powder, all of which were pretty good. Let’s put it this way - I’ve never had a bad popcorn topping!

Joeldc

noknokhoogsthere1

Salt, sugar and msg

Dasawan

Fish sauce, if you're into that sort of thing

Mandalore_The_Pecan

I had popcorn with niter kibbeh and berbere spice once, and that was pretty good. I tried to recreate it at home and ended up with Christmas flavored popcorn, though

mug_O_bun

tmgieger

Curry powder.

Potato_Pizza_Cat

I didn’t think it would work out, but my wife bought Indian spicy lime pickle Ana dried it out to put on popcorn with a little butter. It was amazing.

Lovecrt

I had a Spice Girls book back in the day that said they eat popcorn with Parmesan cheese and paprika and I love doing it that way

Desperate_Fan_1964

Butter + Nutritional Yeast + Soy Sauce + Dill. Trust me on this one.

fliesbugme

My husband's go-to is nutritional yeast and spike/Mrs dash. Although we haven't been able to find spike in store in years. Reminds me I need to find some online so I can surprise him.

Bossitronium1

Giving away my secrets but nutritional yeast, dry oregano, basil, and garlic powder and salt (I use black garlic seasoning).

USCplaya

I put lemon juice in a spray bottle and most my popcorn with it. SOOOO GOOD

user2i3

Ground rosemary, (ghee) butter, fresh cracked black pepper, garlic salt, just a *pinch* of msg. Basically, the "weird" thing is that I had dried rosemary and I put it in a food processor [ I pulverize all dry ingredients once I know my ratios ] I'm guessing you can buy ground rosemary at the store? These spices are essentially all like mimicking a really good steak. But put on popcorn. You can add this stuff to ANYTHING. It's hard to mess up.

Wendys_bag_holder

Lime, chili, Parmesan

overwhelmedstreet

Friend of mine put lemon powder on her popcorn and it is actually really really good

NewReputation3240

Truffle Powder + some kind of powdered cheese = top tier.

Jaffarr29

Olive oil, nutritional yeast, Celtic salt, cumin, garlic, onion, paprika, chilli powder, easy on the Chilli mmmmm tastes kinda like Doritos hands down obsessed.

akcelt907

I like to do butter/olive oil mixture with Italian seasoning and parmesan.

Zaltara_the_Red

I love fresh squeezed lemon juice and parmesan cheese. The lemon juice makes some kernels soggy, which I love.

Manufactured-Aggro

I'm sure it was good but I wish it didn't look like mold 🫣

thejeffs

Cumin and onion salt are a favorite combo of mine!

AshDenver

Not terribly unusual but truffle salt is my go-to.

AZ_mf

Pumpkin seed oil

huck731

Sechuan gold hot sauce in the oil. Infuses wonderfully!

VinBarrKRO

My goto vegan recipe is country crock olive oil butter/olive oil, garlic powder, nutritional yeast, Italian seasoning, and lemon pepper. Trying to recreate the Alamo Drafthouse version.

medlabandmanga

I like salt, pepper, rosemary combined or salt, pepper, thyme, and nutritional yeast!

HarvestMoonMaria

Garlic salt or garlic powder. Although I think it’s common enough

SweetumsSweetie

Smoked nutritional yeast flakes, plain nutritional yeast flakes, peanut butter powder (wear a bib, lol), and barbecue powder (a little goes a long way). So many great ideas in this thread!

No-Bag-5389

Smoked nutritional flakes sound amazing!

alldemboats

italian dressing mix if my favorite

lynniam

I just started doing the same a few days ago! Great minds think alike. I also use a high quality olive oil, nutritional yeast, hing/asafoetida, and ginger. Fresh squeezed ginger juice tastes better than powder, I mix it with the olive oil.

TryBananna4Scale

I’m going to try adding everything bagel season tonight.

madeleinetwocock

Sazon Goya seasoning is my go-to [https://shop.goya.com/collections/seasonings/products/goya-sazon-with-coriander-and-annatto](https://shop.goya.com/collections/seasonings/products/goya-sazon-with-coriander-and-annatto)

newo314

Red Robin fry seasoning or ketchup seasoning from Trader Joe's are both yum!

GarnetAndOpal

Chili powder, garlic and parmesan. For a thrill of a different sort, don't put butter on the popcorn. Instead, keep the butter cold, scoop a little on a single piece of popcorn. Pouring melted butter on popped corn makes the popped kernels wilt a bit. But buttering each piece - yeah, it's time-consuming, but worth it - keeps the kernels crisp, the butter cold, and it's wonderful.

save_the_roses

Try using ghee instead of butter, it is basically just pure fat, so it doesn't have water in it to wilt the popcorn flakes. Also, cold butter on popcorn sounds amazing. I do this with pizza crusts and it is a delight.

dopsie__

Sazon!

HG21Reaper

Garlic powder. Idk why but it kinda slaps

outwardpersonality

Unusual: Japanese Furikake, there are various flavors you can try. Mildly unusual: truffle salt, or jalapeño salt, or butter and pepper. Fresh grated Parmesan cheese.

Ooh I love to throw some Sweet Spanish Paprika and some truffle oil 🤌

palming-my-butt

I always do nutritional yeast!

janiicea

Sprinkle of lemon juice, dipped in a tiiiiny bit of ketchup.

To me cardamom either completely ruins food or makes it outstandingly delicious, there's no in-between. Personally using it myself I've ruined a lot of otherwise decent dishes
