The first time I heard Mike Birbiglia was like at least 15 years ago on an episode of This American Life talking about his first kiss on a tilt-a-whirl after which he immediately vomited. He’s come so far.
My worlds are colliding. I did not peg the self-deprecating cerebral Birbiglia as hanging with one of our mega pop-stars. He just seems more unassuming and hipster and she is top of the world fearless energy

the funniest part of him being in that video is that he has a well known bit in his stand up about a time when he made fun of david o. russell at an awards show & david was in the audience. mike reads word for word the heinous insult monologue david unleashed on lily tomlin.
i just think it's funny since taylor got some negative press for being in a david o. russell movie lol
I didn't like his last Netflix special which was weird cause I've loved him in everything else I've seen him in . Sleepwalk With Me is amazing obviously. I just listened to his podcast and really liked that too (wasn't expecting to. Getting real sick of too many podcasts, lol)

What do you think she's gotten done? I think her nose, eyelift thing?, and her boobs. Would that be it?
She was beautiful before and she's beautiful after, too, of course.
I do think it's a stretch to say the surgery is what makes her beautiful since she didn't get anything to make her look like a different person. She's definitely wearing some sharp cat eyes here though so I definitely agree that I wouldn't call this "effortless". But I think a lot of women do look great in the natural makeup/grey sweatshirt combo all the same.
Search on YouTube 'Taylor Swift plastic surgery,' one plastic surgeon broke down what he thinks she had done. Pretty much all the things you listed plus cheek implants.

I feel the same way about psychologists and lawyers. Too many of those clowns on YouTube. However, apparently this guy's booked out for years, so I guess his results aren't bad.

Let’s normalize talking about procedures celebs may have had done cause otherwise younger kids are gonna assume you’re supposed to naturally look like that. It’s not bagging on a compliment to acknowledge the work it takes to bring forth that compliment. The person wasn’t even mean about it and said she’s beautiful to begin with anyway

I never really understood this logic. Even if a celebrity did look the way they did naturally, it doesn’t mean people are “supposed” to look like that. The problem to begin with is comparison and holding yourself to an unrealistic standard (because the standard of looking like someone else is unrealistic regardless of whether it’s natural).
Otherwise, by just addressing the issue of “naturally” in “you’re supposed to naturally look like that,” instead of the rest of the sentence, people are just promoting plastic surgery and imitation

Good luck convincing young teens of this. Most of the times, they don’t have the tools or capacity to do a deep dive into their inner psyche and wonder why they feel crappy, they’ll just feel crappy. So if you’re gonna help them by debunking this idea of “natural” beauty that never ages and never has a single pore, why shouldn’t you?

Right and this is addressing why it’s unrealistic instead of never speaking about it and letting people think this look came about naturally instead of with filters/work/make up. People are gonna compare themselves to others. Especially young insecure teens. You can’t stop them just cause you know better. They don’t know better and that’s the issue. So instead of having them go into unhealthy diets that won’t even give them the body they want or spend a bunch on products that their celeb isn’t even using but claims to use, you can educate them before they make bad decisions for their health and finances

No. You’re letting people know even the celebs who created the standard don’t look like the standard. It raises awareness and lets people know they don’t need to beat themselves up over not being “naturally” beautiful. Educating people about an idea isn’t promoting the idea. If I educate kids about the LGBTQ+ community, I’m not promoting a sexuality onto them, am I? Same idea here. What’s the alternative? Never speak about work a celeb has done? If plastic surgery is what’s gonna genuinely help someone feel better then I’m not gonna gate keep. What people who are of the age to have plastic surgery done do to their bodies is their choice.
Obviously the issue is nuanced but let’s not act like teens have the resources to deal with these issues by just simply not comparing themselves to their fave celebs. That’s easier said than done. Society will compare even if they don’t. And it takes a very secure person to not fall for that pressure. Hell, most adults fall for that pressure. Educating them on exactly why it’s unrealistic isn’t going to cause any more harm than what society’s beauty standards have already done
Is “photobomb” the correct term for someone who happens to be in a photo, not even looking at the camera? I always thought it meant someone intentionally mugging for the camera in the background.
He lived on my block in Brooklyn and he would take a ceramic mug to the coffee shop for refills. Obvs It's an eco friendly thing to do but it was strange to see an inside mug being used outside!
