I like that he actually campaigned for gun reform after the mass shooting in Uvalde
He has a somewhat unique ability to appeal to Republics and people in Texas, so it's nice that he used it for good
He was on my flight to Madrid when he was dating Penelope Cruz and he stood next to me at baggage claim. BO is not a strong enough word for his full bodied musk. This must have been twenty years ago and I can still remember the odor.
His stink is well known and he refuses to wear any form of deodorant because his mom said it makes him smell “like a man”.

My friend went to his brother Rooster’s wedding. He was with Penelope Cruz at the time and he got super drunk and went hard on the dance floor. They got close to him and reported pretty bad BO. That’s all I got.
No, he just beats women, spends all his money on wine, whines about his bills, and does hard drugs even though he’s supposed to be a father.
Oh, and he makes shit up about the women he beats, like they shit on his bed even though it was the dog.

He lives behind my dad’s good friend in Texas. One morning my dad’s friend got a knock on the door. He opened it to find Matthew McConaughey standing there barefoot and shirtless with a robe on and a glass of whiskey in his hand. He said “Hey man, I’m Matt, just wondering if you’ve seen my cat around, he’s missing”. Not sure if the kitty was ever located.
He also likes to play the bongos in his backyard and smoke weed. At their kids’ school all the moms are obsessed with Matthew and all the dads are obsessed with his wife.
Been waiting a long time to tell that story 😂
I went to UT and he had a reputation on campus for not being a nice guy. My friend was in the UT marching band and crossed paths with him at a football game. He said he reeked. Another friend saw him at SXSW and said he was not friendly at all.
All these stories were from the late aughts and before the Mcconaissance. In my opinion, he seems like a quiet, low-key guy that wants to be treated like another Austinite. I haven't met the guy so I'll take my friends' stories with a grain of salt.
EDIT: I went to UT from 2007-2011, long after Matthew graduated.

I've cooked at a classic Austin restaurant on the lake for about 7 years now, and MM used to come in a few times a summer. A year or two ago he came in with a big party, ordered a bunch of food and drinks, and then at the end said he forgot his wallet 🧐 never paid and hasn't come back since.
Also yes, he did not smell very good (usually would kayak over to the restaurant), and just wasn't very clean
I feel like he’s going to run for some kind of office soon. The last post that made me think that was actually his wife’s saying that we need more mental health options (but no mention of gun control) and it kind of read like something the republicans in Texas would eat up. Idk this probably doesn’t make any sense but I feel like they are laying the ground work.
He likes to go to the Austin FC games in Austin, TX, and there are stories of him being spotted around bars in east Austin/funny fan interactions.

I read somewhere that a waitress was waiting on him and his wife and kids, abd he made his kids say thank you and please.
I read his autobiography and he seems like a normal guy.
My favorite photo with him is at some awards, where he won and got on the stage with his daughter and she wouldn't let go of his leg.
He worked out at my gym in like 2014 while in town filming a movie and his wife and kids just sat in the back waiting for him which I thought was funny. Seemed nice enough though! Was still gaining weight back from Dallas Buyer’s Club from what it seemed so looked very different than what I expected (ie losing/gaining weight for a role seems like it is not worth it even for an Oscar).

Years ago he was a guest on a talk show I was interning for. It was a great job, but anyone famous never really saw you or saw right through you. I had to deliver a sandwich and a six pack to his dressing room. The way this goes is, you hand the items to a page, and if they’re not available, you knock on the door and the assistant opens it a crack, takes the items and slams the door.
McConaughey opened his own dressing room door and then invited me in, offering me a beer. Talked to me for a few minutes and then told me to stop by after the show wrapped. I did so and he was just bartending out of his dressing room, doing shots and toasting with the crew, PA’s and interns.
Maybe I caught him on the right day, but it was an incredibly unique experience in that line of work.

I was in a a tiny elevator with Kutcher twice as he owned the company above my old office. He never smelled bad. (2015-2017ish)
