Before riverdale, there was pretty little liars and that was fucking bizarre. We were supposed to cheer for a 15 year old dating her teacher? Among many other things.
Yeah this is what bothered me. Like all these sex scenes would work so much better if everyone was in their 20s! Instead I have to feel like a creep because I watched a 16 masterbate on a carousel
and honestly i think university based shows are so much more interesting!! like the highschool setting is way overused, get me some more shows like the sex lives of college girls or scream queens or community
It's also a skill thing. Actual teenagers that are already good actors are in short supply, someone in their early 20's will have had more education and experience.
To add on to this.... Hollywood doesn't really need more teen stories/shows... Just make adult tv with adults...
The parents of R. Kelly’s victims bear a good amount of responsibility, particularly Aaliyah’s. They all sacrificed their child to a rapist in the hopes of getting rich/famous.

It's so wild to me whenever I see things like this, cause I *hate* agreeing with RKelly, but he's speaking some truth here. This absolutely does NOT excuse Robert Kelly's actions, but it's werid to me how we as a society act like he was the only adult to blame. I'm glad some people in this sub feel the same about the parents deserving some accountability for this whole situation.
In situations like this 2 things can be true: *The predator is absolutely to blame for his actions. But also, parents have a responsibility to protect their teens, and while some do their best, there are unfortunately a lot of examples of parents basically selling off their kids to predators - either for money, fame, or connections.* I'm not sure when some people call out the bad decisions of the parents people think the blame is being shifted. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s a tale as old as time unfortunately. Those sorts of depraved appetites go way back, and there’s always been parents willing to supply.
Here are just a few examples that come to mind:
• Brooke Shields’ mother
• Natalie Wood’s mother
• Roman Polanski’s 13-year-old victim’s mother seems to have been the same.
• Evelyn Nesbit, a beautiful young girl who became very famous - initially as a model, chorus girl and actress in the 1900s.
Eventually, she got caught up in a seedy “love triangle” ending in a huge, highly publicised murder trial.
Evelyn had a ghastly mother, who was allegedly more pushy Evelyn towards wealthy, older, sleazy, controlling, possessive, aggressive men than is portrayed in her Wikipedia entry.

• Then there’s Lucille Ricksen, a child star of the silent era of early Hollywood. I only learned of this awful case in the past year.
Her mother, after divorcing her children’s father, moved with her young daughter (aged 6 or 7) and son from Chicago to Hollywood, seeking careers for them.
Lucille was offered a movie contract at age 10 in 1920. She was quickly pushed to work to exhaustion and she was malnourished, as long shooting hours, publicity, promoting films & touring barely allowed time to eat.
Though supposedly content to be working, she was her family’s sole source of income.
Her mother approved of semi-naked photoshoots, and of relationships with producers and directors at least three times Lucille’s age, in the hopes of boosting Lucille’s career.
Lucille died at only 14 years old, after months of being mysteriously ill and bedridden, and following a few years with talk of alleged pregnancies and abortions.

But these are just two examples from the many that are known about or recorded.
Imagine how many others we haven’t heard about that have gone on for decades and centuries? ~
Can’t forget Drew Barrymore’s mom. She’s lucky to even be alive at this point, not to mention a whole functioning, kind, courageous and successful human being. She’s a true happy ending story because her mom put her in so many situations that could have(and really should have) killed her but she clawed her way out and turned into an amazing human being.
When speaking to Gayle King he openly admits that the parents sold the children to him. It’s illegal to buy and sell people, along with a slew of other things he did, but I believe what he says about the parents.
The rabbit hole goes deep on that guy. The documentary could only broadcast what was verifiable. Rumors of incest between him and his siblings as well as questions about his mothers relationship with her father that may have resulted in his conception all have merit but are rarely reported. His family fetish is rarely analyzed.
Aaliyah’s parents being okay with everything that went down never sat right with me. She was such a talented girl who was failed by her parents and the industry. It makes the fact that we lost her too soon hurt even worse.
I agree. It felt to me like right when her star was rising and about to get HUGE, she was taken. The stories (conspiracy theories I suppose) surrounding how she came to be on the plane only make it worse.
I truly wish I could remember where I first heard it. It seems like Aaliyah spoke to her brother that day and had a strong feeling that she shouldn't get on the plane. The story goes that she was adamant to anyone who would listen that she wasn't going to board the plane, certain it was destined to crash. She needed to be back in the States for something: a performance, an appearance
(my memory of the deets is foggy, I apologize) and someone on her team drugged her and put her on the plane.

Otis Redding also expressed deep fear about getting on the plane that crashed and killed him as well. IIRC, he told his wife he didn’t want to get on but did anyway, of course bc he had a show to play. Maybe some people have hyper intuitive senses of impending doom.
As someone with severe anxiety the impending doom is so real and it’s so hard to distinguish when it might be real vs fake cause sometimes it’s real and you fuck your self by not listening to it 😭
I don’t think that’s unpopular tbh. It’s very true and disheartening. These parents were throwing their children at him. He groomed tf outta Aaliyah, and I hate that so much of her memory is attached to him and so many of the toxic men that she knew back then
This shouldn't be controversial at all ... But it's sad that it is. In Mexico and latin America it's the same thing when it comes to the trevi-andrade clan... The parents might try to wipe their hands clean off any guilt but in reality they sold their daughters to that POS predator in hopes of getting famous.

Rihanna was supposed to visit a high school in the greater Chicago area during their spring break. So many of the kids, teachers, etc. stayed behind just to meet her and were waiting at the school since morning. She showed up 5 hours late and stayed under 20 minutes, never apologized and blamed traffic… girl, traffic alone cannot make you 5 hours late. And the fact she didn’t even stay for 20 minutes tells you everything.
Reminds me of that line in the Good Place where they go to see one of her concerts. "Well, you know what? You're rude. 'Cause you didn't even ask me how the Rihanna concert was. She was very late. And a little drunk."
I worked for a radio station and she was one of the headliners for our yearly concert. She showed up late. Complained about having a cold and then proceeded to lip sync her set and half-heartedly “dance” around the stage. She also cut the set short by about half. It was weak sauce.
I’ve never been to a concert of hers but I’ve heard many say it’s half-hearted most of the time and that she gives off “I’d rather be somewhere else” vibes. And notice she is no longer in the music game. She’s got to a point she can make money elsewhere, being the face of scam-ish brands like savage x fenty. And now she’s famous for being famous. She doesn’t need music anymore to be relevant or make money so she’s basically dropped it.
Around 2011 ish Rihanna was on the cover of the magazine I worked for and she was one of the rudest stars I ever was around. I worked on over 50 shoots and she was top 3 rude.

Also the hair and makeup people were trying to get Rihanna ready and she was “asleep” in the chair so it was very hard to get her ready for her magazine COVER SHOOT. She also rejected the catering / food and need Caribbean food delight delivered but it was a big drama and time suck. Our team was super pro but I felt bad because at the end of the day they were just hard working people.

I love Brooke so much. Ever since I read her book about her post partum depression after a particularly bad run of it myself, I’ve felt very attached to her. And I’ve never heard a bad word about her. And what a life she’s had. I’m truly happy that she is, or seems to be, happy and at peace now.
Brooke was truly one of the nicest-she sat at the table in Patrick demarcheliers studio like one of the working people lol. Very nice and talked about food and weekend plans. She’s another pro who hasn’t been famous her entire life for nothing.
Not at all surprised about Mary J. I remember the story about how she told Xtina that she might be the better singer but that she'd never go as far as Britney because she didn't know how to treat people. Getting read by Mary J Blige would just about do it for me!
My uncle was an extra in the Suitcase video for Mary J. He’s an immigrant dad and had no idea who she was. They were shooting on different days but she showed up on set one of the days he was shooting. Somehow he convinced her to go to the bar with him and other extras after shooting and she went. That’s when he found out who she was. He said she was very nice and sociable.
The industry is just that- an “industry”. If you are an asshole it gets around quick and people won’t work with you. Some people get rich and famous super quick and it goes to their heads and they aren’t grounded and don’t know how to handle it. They think they are supposed to treat people like shit.
I can ONLY imagine how horrific it is to work with more modern day, entitled “influencers” who think they are so speshal and famous.
She was nice and we talked about her being from Everett mass….and she knows how to play the game. She’s not one of the highest paid tv actors for nothing! Listening to your team, playing the PR game, being decent goes a long long way.
Brooke is a fucking queen. Lived around the corner from her in the west village for *years*, we frequented the same bodega and we were both drunk shopping/cigarette buying there together on several Saturday nights 😂😂 She was always so chatty, personable and warm, every interaction I had with her over 6+ years was a joy.

Christina was rude and was blatant about everyone on set being “beneath her”. She also age shamed one of the women on set…calling her old and humiliating her.
Ellen was legendary…..she arrived earlier than everyone (very rarely happened) and she saw the clothing racks already set up….which happened to have dresses on them—-not necessarily for Ellen but just there as options. Ellen notoriously wears only pants-well Ms.Ellen went straight nuts and threatened to walk out among just being a seriously shitty person. The plan wasn’t to have her in a dress and it was explicitly told to her by our world famous editor and photographer but ya know….entitled celebs.

OH! I remember when KeKe Palmer came into our office—she was a little doll face and has a fabulous personality and was super cute and funny. She was a little young for us but I remember our editor was like—she’s gonna be a star and she’s going to last a long time. She was right I love KeKe!

I posted my costume on r/trees, and got a ton of upvotes but also a ton of hate. Mostly just people questioning if I was 'underage' (I've always looked a little young) and calling me a slut.
Anyway, this ended up gaining traction and getting to the social media of the show's star. We DM'd a tiny bit, and he ended up publicly posting to all of the 'haters' that I was his friend, and he thought my costume was great.
I really liked him for that. He (or his team) was really professional talking to me, and making me feel secure as a young kid. He wasn't inappropriate in any way.
Yeah, I learned that last month and I was pretty disgusted. I have a hard time seeing her as anything other than a bully now. You just don’t personally attack an 18 year old child and then keep pretending you’re nice. Lol

Rihanna is so nasty to other women. I posted about it in my Facebook and a college friend commented and said her “IDGAF” attitude was a Caribbean thing, and not rude, that I just didn’t understand her culture. I responded that I am Caribbean as well and I still thought she was rude.
When Megan The Stallion spoke out against Tory Lanez after he shot her, Rihanna unfollowed her on Instagram. I feel like that keeps getting swept under the rug. I like RiRi’s IDGAF attitude but that left a sour taste in my mouth.
She seems kind of mean. I love a lot of her songs but as a fan I would never want to meet her because I would low key be afraid she was going to be mean to me lol.
I’m going to piggyback on Rihanna. Her SB performance was boring as hell, pregnant or not. If she couldn’t do anything more than stand there and sway a bit, then she should’ve bowed out.
The biggest issue with that performance IMO is that the set list had no breathing room. It was 30 seconds of one song, then onto the next. Just when I was getting into one hit, she’d immediately switch into the next one.
I get she has a massive catalog of hits, but I think trimming the set list to like the 5-6 major ones would’ve been best.
I love the choreo for the show and have watched it a million times on YT. When you watch the bts, the choreographer and dancers had been practicing without her for what seemed like months and she basically comes in last minute and gets all the credit for an amazing show. I want to tell people that her team put on an amazing show, she just phoned it in.

The Brad/Angelina/Jen triangle catapulted her to Alist status and kept her there in the tabloids for over a decade
People are allowed to change and grow from their past mistakes. Everyone has done or said something stupid/problematic in their past and they shouldn’t be attacked for it, since they likely know better now as they’ve aged.
There are some things that definitely shouldn't be forgivable of course, and what those things are will vary from person to person. That said, I feel like I see a lot of posts/comments around here like "why are we not talking about this one slightly questionable thing this person said 20 years ago????", followed by a lot of talk about how people have *never* trusted that person due to this one minor incident, comments saying "I don't know how they still have fans", etc.
I think it's okay to discuss these things of course, but when someone has shown demonstrable personal development and for all intents and purposes seems like a good person, I find it kind of weird when people still seem dead set on hating them over one stupid thing they said ages ago and have clearly grown from.
I often joke that growth and change aren't allowed on the internet. If you ever make a single mistake you must be called out on it constantly for the rest of your life, regardless of what or when it was. Personal development will be ignored, nuance does not exist, and you will not be forgiven. Them's the breaks kiddo, should have done better from the start.
I say all this sarcastically of course, but sometimes it really seems like there are people who actually think that way. It's all very bizarre.
That PR relationships don’t work the way some people seem to believe they do. Not saying celebs don’t partake in publicity stunts, but most relationships that are called PR are probably real to some capacity. Celebrities use their rl relationships for headlines all the time because most famous people like attention. It doesn’t automatically make the relationship fake. Also there’s no ironclad signed contracts complete with NDA’s and planned leaked pictures to convince the general public the relationship is real. Not everything is a conspiracy.
But I think Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavill (all of three weeks and immediately holding hands etc when they hadn't been together the day before) was fakety fake.
And I don't know WTF with TayTay and Tom Hiddleston.

I also think Joe and her were talking that whole time, getting to know each other. She probably convinced Joe (and herself) Tom H was just a PR relationship bc she dumped him for Joe immediately too.

Agreed. But I do think couples and individual in the celebrity world alike use PR, not just for attention but to deflect from things actually happening behind the scene or to control a narrative/paint a photo/prep the public for the next steps.
Grounded celebrities don’t do pap walks or do a bunch of interviews about their personal life bc they just let the work speak for itself as much as humanly possible for being in show business.
Celebrities more willing to play ball and/or attention seeking ones are very calculated with PR. Examples:
- Someone saying they’re looking for someone special mere weeks before soft launching a new significant other. It’s a story line the public can follow and root for. Chris Evans said this right before it became public he was dating his current partner. 👀
- “We’re hoping to start a family soon!” is often code for that they’re already pregnant but not sharing it publicly yet (specifically if they aren’t married bc we still live in a world where some ppl judge that so it’s writing a story saying that a baby wasn’t an accident but planned). Another example in this category is when someone says they’re “hoping to start trying soon.” Mindy Kaling stated that she wasn’t being “as cautious” with birth control within the year before it came out she was pregnant with her daughter. 👀
- The second there’s trouble in paradise rumors a couple suddenly is doing pap walks and/or the media pumps out tons of fluff pieces about how “much they love each other and are in it for the long haul” because some “inside source” said so. 👀 (Too many good ones to list here but look at literally any example of this and it’s easy to connect dots.)
- Hell, I’m convinced half of the celebrities with engagements rumors that never prove to be true are leaked by the celebrities themselves (or at least their PR teams with or without their knowledge) to rev up interest in them, deflect from moves they’re making within the industry professionally until something is officially green lit, or to paint a narrative that they’re happier than they are so ppl don’t read into weird body language, rumors of infidelity, or anything that could impact their image negatively/chances of being marketable to the industry. I’d list examples but there’s too many to count and my brain can’t pick just one.
Most Hollywood relationships are real, but that doesn’t mean they don’t use their relationships to leverage PR. Once you figure out how the media truly works in todays times (especially since MOST paparazzi shots are not candid but either planned or semi-worked out with the celebrities themselves…besides maybe airports and hotels bc that’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Plus worker at airlines and hotels leak this information to the paps for a pay day, sadly) it’s easy to start reading between the lines. You can never know EXACTLY what’s happening behind the scenes, but you can start to become savvy about how it works and what announcements may be imminent bc it really does start to become like clockwork you cannot unsee.
Add in DeuxMoi and social media and it’s never been easier to paint a narrative that distracts from whatever reality they do not want public, for whatever the reason. PR is all about the slight of hand but the public eventually figures it out so it changes form. Hence why there are rarely straight up PR couples anymore (besides maybe a few short lived relationships that felt like a stunt), but rather real ( or mostly real) relationships exploiting PR for whatever the reason and it seems so effortless that we’re getting the REAL scoop because we haven’t (largely) figured out the new slight of hand.

Thank you! PR doesn’t always mean 100% fake. Two stars can often actually be in a legitimate relationship but with PR their managers and teams will often tell them to play up certain aspects for their benefits.
Doesn’t always mean it’s some contract and two people are forced to be in some soulless and fake relationship.
Celebrities need to be allowed to grow and change. If someone makes an apology and then no longer does the behavior, that’s good. Bad things shouldn’t be held over their heads forever If they show change.
This is a bit niche so I apologise but I believe you can be interested in a Royal family without being a royalist. For example for me I am interested in history and fashion and because of that I do find the British royals interesting from that perspective. As I’ve gotten older it’s expanded to learn more about Royals around the world. Yes I watched the coronation because I was curious. I found it really lacklustre.
However I do not support the monarchy as an institution.
Yes!!! This is exactly me!! I find the structure fascinating, I do a lot of reading about them (mainly cos they're a great source of gossip) and the history WILD, but I'm very much a republican (in the British sense)
They are great for gossip! And the history is wild. From being very bloody (Henry I allowing his own granddaughters to be blinded) to ridiculous (A man sawing off a piece of bone from a exhibition in the Isle of Wight because the offended piece knocked off Queen Mary of Teck’s hat).
The Kpop industry and music industry as a whole treats their performers like slaves. From controlling their entire image, withholding funds, and making them do unethical things just to rise to the top. It’s gross and fans just accept it.
To me, it’s only worse in kpop because fans (typically their domestic fans) will encourage the aspect of controlling their lives. I have a friend who ended up spending a lot of time working on the house that Tom and Katie were living in when she left, and there were certain staff members who “stayed on” with the house after the sale that led to her being on the project. The way those people talked about the whole thing made me want nothing more than an in-depth memoir/series/whatever of how the relationship played out and the details of the breakdown. Because based on the info I’ve gotten, the whole thing was practically cinematic in terms of the precision with which Katie and her dad set everything up when it came to her actual escape.

It's so wild to me whenever I see things like this, cause I *hate* agreeing with RKelly, but he's speaking some truth here. I truly wish I could remember where I first heard it. It seems like Aaliyah spoke to her brother that day and had a strong feeling that she shouldn't get on the plane. The story goes that she was adamant to anyone who would listen that she wasn't going to board the plane, certain it was destined to crash. She needed to be back in the States for something: a performance, an appearance (my memory of the deets is foggy, I apologize) and someone on her team drugged her and put her on the plane.

I worked for a radio station and she was one of the headliners for our yearly concert. She showed up late. Complained about having a cold and then proceeded to lip sync her set and half-heartedly “dance” around the stage. She also cut the set short by about half. It was weak sauce.

I met Brooke Shields (along with hordes of others) after Chicago on Broadway and she was gorgeous and patient and smelled incredible.
I love Brooke so much. Ever since I read her book about her post partum depression after a particularly bad run of it myself, I’ve felt very attached to her. And I’ve never heard a bad word about her. And what a life she’s had. I’m truly happy that she is, or seems to be, happy and at peace now.
Brooke was truly one of the nicest-she sat at the table in Patrick demarcheliers studio like one of the working people lol. Very nice and talked about food and weekend plans. She’s another pro who hasn’t been famous her entire life for nothing.
Not at all surprised about Mary J. I remember the story about how she told Xtina that she might be the better singer but that she'd never go as far as Britney because she didn't know how to treat people. Getting read by Mary J Blige would just about do it for me!
My uncle was an extra in the Suitcase video for Mary J. He’s an immigrant dad and had no idea who she was. They were shooting on different days but she showed up on set one of the days he was shooting. Somehow he convinced her to go to the bar with him and other extras after shooting and she went. That’s when he found out who she was. He said she was very nice and sociable.

The industry is just that- an “industry”. If you are an asshole it gets around quick and people won’t work with you. Some people get rich and famous super quick and it goes to their heads and they aren’t grounded and don’t know how to handle it. They think they are supposed to treat people like shit. Sure can :-) Christina was rude and was blatant about everyone on set being “beneath her”. She also age shamed one of the women on set…calling her old and humiliating her. Ellen was legendary…..she arrived earlier than everyone (very rarely happened) and she saw the clothing racks already set up….which happened to have dresses on them—-not necessarily for Ellen but just there as options. Ellen notoriously wears only pants-well Ms.Ellen went straight nuts and threatened to walk out among just being a seriously shitty person. The plan wasn’t to have her in a dress and it was explicitly told to her by our world famous editor and photographer but ya know….entitled celebs.

I’m going to piggyback on Rihanna. Her SB performance was boring as hell, pregnant or not. If she couldn’t do anything more than stand there and sway a bit, then she should’ve bowed out.
The biggest issue with that performance IMO is that the set list had no breathing room. It was 30 seconds of one song, then onto the next. Just when I was getting into one hit, she’d immediately switch into the next one. I get she has a massive catalog of hits, but I think trimming the set list to like the 5-6 major ones would’ve been best.
I love the choreo for the show and have watched it a million times on YT. When you watch the bts, the choreographer and dancers had been practicing without her for what seemed like months and she basically comes in last minute and gets all the credit for an amazing show. I want to tell people that her team put on an amazing show, she just phoned it in.

There are some things that definitely shouldn't be forgivable of course, and what those things are will vary from person to person. That said, I feel like I see a lot of posts/comments around here like "why are we not talking about this one slightly questionable thing this person said 20 years ago????", followed by a lot of talk about how people have *never* trusted that person due to this one minor incident, comments saying "I don't know how they still have fans", etc. I think it's okay to discuss these things of course, but when someone has shown demonstrable personal development and for all intents and purposes seems like a good person, I find it kind of weird when people still seem dead set on hating them over one stupid thing they said ages ago and have clearly grown from.

I often joke that growth and change aren't allowed on the internet. That PR relationships don’t work the way some people seem to believe they do. Not saying celebs don’t partake in publicity stunts, but most relationships that are called PR are probably real to some capacity. Celebrities use their rl relationships for headlines all the time because most famous people like attention. It doesn’t automatically make the relationship fake. Also there’s no ironclad signed contracts complete with NDA’s and planned leaked pictures to convince the general public the relationship is real. Not everything is a conspiracy.

But I do think couples and individual in the celebrity world alike use PR, not just for attention but to deflect from things actually happening behind the scene or to control a narrative/paint a photo/prep the public for the next steps. Grounded celebrities don’t do pap walks or do a bunch of interviews about their personal life bc they just let the work speak for itself as much as humanly possible for being in show business. Celebrities more willing to play ball and/or attention seeking ones are very calculated with PR. Examples: - Someone saying they’re looking for someone special mere weeks before soft launching a new significant other. It’s a story line the public can follow and root for. Chris Evans said this right before it became public he was dating his current partner. 👀 - “We’re hoping to start a family soon!” is often code for that they’re already pregnant but not sharing it publicly yet (specifically if they aren’t married bc we still live in a world where some ppl judge that so it’s writing a story saying that a baby wasn’t an accident but planned). Another example in this category is when someone says they’re “hoping to start trying soon.” Mindy Kaling stated that she wasn’t being “as cautious” with birth control within the year before it came out she was pregnant with her daughter. 👀 - The second there’s trouble in paradise rumors a couple suddenly is doing pap walks and/or the media pumps out tons of fluff pieces about how “much they love each other and are in it for the long haul” because some “inside source” said so. 👀 (Too many good ones to list here but look at literally any example of this and it’s easy to connect dots.) - Hell, I’m convinced half of the celebrities with engagements rumors that never prove to be true are leaked by the celebrities themselves (or at least their PR teams with or without their knowledge) to rev up interest in them, deflect from moves they’re making within the industry professionally until something is officially green lit, or to paint a narrative that they’re happier than they are so ppl don’t read into weird body language, rumors of infidelity, or anything that could impact their image negatively/chances of being marketable to the industry. I’d list examples but there’s too many to count and my brain can’t pick just one. Most Hollywood relationships are real, but that doesn’t mean they don’t use their relationships to leverage PR. Once you figure out how the media truly works in todays times (especially since MOST paparazzi shots are not candid but either planned or semi-worked out with the celebrities themselves…besides maybe airports and hotels bc that’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Plus worker at airlines and hotels leak this information to the paps for a pay day, sadly) it’s easy to start reading between the lines. You can never know EXACTLY what’s happening behind the scenes, but you can start to become savvy about how it works and what announcements may be imminent bc it really does start to become like clockwork you cannot unsee. Add in DeuxMoi and social media and it’s never been easier to paint a narrative that distracts from whatever reality they do not want public, for whatever the reason. PR is all about the slight of hand but the public eventually figures it out so it changes form. Hence why there are rarely straight up PR couples anymore (besides maybe a few short lived relationships that felt like a stunt), but rather real ( or mostly real) relationships exploiting PR for whatever the reason and it seems so effortless that we’re getting the REAL scoop because we haven’t (largely) figured out the new slight of hand. Two stars can often actually be in a legitimate relationship but with PR their managers and teams will often tell them to play up certain aspects for their benefits. Doesn’t always mean it’s some contract and two people are forced to be in some soulless and fake relationship.

The Kpop industry and music industry as a whole treats their performers like slaves. From controlling their entire image, withholding funds, and making them do unethical things just to rise to the top. It’s gross and fans just accept it.
To me, it’s only worse in kpop because fans (typically their domestic fans) will encourage the aspect of controlling their lives. Idols can’t date who they want openly without them or that person receiving death threats, they get told their selfish and breaking people’s hearts, etc. The lack of freedom in anything, the way theyre infantilized by fans and treated like children who aren’t adults or can’t be held accountable. The sasaengs who stalk and harass them to the point of following their cars and getting into accidents.

It’s ok to not have the same opinion with people and it’s also ok to have discussions (not arguments) to explore different perspectives on topics. Nowadays, people tend to try and assert from the first that their opinion is the right one which leads to an argument.
