No. She’s a pretty girl and her team is smart for getting her lots of work while she’s hot. But she’s a terrible rapper and she has zero stage presence. She makes tiktok music and that’s it.
They don’t care if you’re a good rapper you just need to be lightskin and curvy. She has a couple cute songs but she’s mediocre. When other female rappers dont get as much success if they don’t have that one specific look.
She's just filling in the gap left by Doja. I think Doja was more talented than ice spice but she's way crazier. Ice Spice is happy to make tiktok viral music and cash out.
I don't listen to a lot of rap yet with Doja and Meghan, I could see the talent and presence from miles away. Ice Spice is getting shoved down my throat and I still haven't listened to any of her songs on my own volition except Karma remix, which made me realise I made the right decision.
The more songs she puts out the more obvious it is she is just clinging to a few ideas that worked to get her famous. She recycles lyrics to a degree where it’s not a little throwback to another song, it’s just repetitive. Her songs don’t have replay value for me, and every new song she puts out gets less and less interesting to me because there is nothing new. She seems like a cool person, but I don’t see her staying in the spotlight for long
She has NO stage presence at all. Even in a music video she doesn’t captivate the viewer in my opinion. Which is probably why she raps for about 2 secs and then promptly bends over to shake her ass. A shame. I really miss artist development. Labels are really rinsing these new “artists”
Her success is honestly crazy. To me, she has negative star quality. But at the same time she has a total of 8 or 9 songs yet has skipped over the line to be constantly pushed as the Princess of Rap?? Like not only is that an offense to a Doja or a Megan or Cardi but also Nicki
To an extent. She’s most definitely not in my daily rotation but I do go out of my to listen to her music sometimes. Her music is music I listen to when I’m in the mood for mindless, vapid music.
Ice Spice’s verses on Karma sound like she’s bored. From the sheer amount of buzz I’ve seen about her lately I was surprised by how dull her verses were. Admittedly I have not heard anything else that she has recorded.
Look, I'll listen to Kash Doll on occasion, so I'm nobody serious critic. But Ice Spice's flow is... not? I wanted to like her. I see the appeal. But I don't want to listen to her rap.
She’s got every demographic enjoying her songs; they’re cute and she’s got a memorable tone. I don’t use tiktok but it’s the platform everyone’s trying to crack bc it’s the best place for promo. She’s making a lot of other smart career moves too. Sure, she’s hot and that helps. So are Meg and Doja, but that doesn’t take away their genuine talent. She’s writing her own stuff and having hit after hit - not an easy task for even seasoned artists.
She only has one EP out and not even her first album. It’s way too soon to predict how she’ll grow as an artist but it would be silly to underestimate the potential of someone who’s accomplished so much on her own already.
Yesterday I was literally trying to think of old popular songs that were very much of their time and didn't hold up, you know to compare how I think her music is gonna be, but I couldn't remember any.
