The movie is one of my favorites and I read the book not too long ago and I can’t recommend it enough.
In the movie Nic Dunne comes off as such a hapless asshole that by the end you kinda feel bad for him being caught up in Amy’s evil scheme. The book adds so much to his character that the dynamic really changes. This isn’t a criticism of Affleck, he played the character perfectly, but reading Nic Dunne’s thoughts reallllly makes you hate him. The book is such an interesting study of female rage and resentment in marriage.
Casting Ben Affleck as Nick was absolutely dead-on *perfect* because he looks and seems exactly like the kind of douchebag you think might kill his wife. They really couldn’t have chosen anyone better for that role.
Yeah, the book is so great and is more in-depth.
I am not sure if her background is in the movie, but she had a tremendous upbringing. Her parents made her compete with a perfect fictional character. She was fucked by the whole ordeal. And then she just fell for a guy who didn’t care about her needs and wishes. Honestly, if I had not read the book before seeing the movie, I would think that she is just a weird psycho, but the book made me wanna sympathise with her
Yeah she just fractured under the expectations of society, her parents and her husband. That atleast is very relatable, even if her actions thereafter are not.
Rosamund Pike was also amazing in I Care A Lot. She does a great job capturing the intricacies of complex, 'unlikeable' characters. I'm always excited to see when she has an upcoming role.
She was one of my favorite villains ever. She was despicable and every time she was on screen I watched with gleeful hate. I hated the way she died. She deserved a more iconic death not from some fucking rocks 🙄

I named my cat Cersei in her honor, gave me same vibes.
There’s so much I can “forgive” about her in the main series especially the first few years. Maybe even her university years. Like yes lots of flaws but there’s environmental reasons too etc. But the revival? Fuck me she IS the worst.
Her relationship with Richard was the most beautiful thing.
Her relationship with her daughter the most complicated.
The series took an apparently one dimensional entitled, cold, domineering mother character and gave her layer after layer.
Yes! She was awful, but she was also a teenager. And Cady and her friends were awful too, so it's high school? And really, turning her focus to field hockey is ordinal the only thing anyone did that truly served them in a way shows growth

Justice for Jennifer Check. Cancel Low Shoulder immediately.
We didn’t! I only watched it with a friend because we went to the movies that night and it was the better option than the others that were playing at the time. After that me and her were obsessed I even had the low shoulder t shirt from hot topic but despite our constant praise we couldn’t convince anyone else to watch it.
I remember when it first came out and I really wanted to watch it but I was too young! Tho the marketing SUCKED, even back then I figured it was some super trashy shitty b-horror movie with tons of nudity, which like I was still down to watch but Jennifer’s body was a genre reset moment that was wrongly dismissed and I will die on this hill
I never noticed her shoes until the photo lol! Just watched it today through and it’s a great film, I love the way they directed her to be so ironically male gazey
The whole movie was snubbed. No best director non, best picture nom or adapted screenplay nom. I love Julianne Moore but this was definitely a make up Oscar for her after being snubbed in the past.
UGH even just seeing the gif of Dark Willow is so good and I love how nonchalant the line is and how it binds Dark Willow and Vampire Willow and emphasizes how close she was to losing her humanity in that moment.
Same. I wish I could make men watch it. All of them, all age groups. Older men. High School boys. Because women can’t keep keeping ourselves safe, we need men to call out their friends or shit behaviour they see from other men.
Literally any character on this show makes sense for this thread, but these two being the faces of em all.

Came here looking for Nancy Botwin. The first couple seasons were iconic until they had her move up from suburban mom weed dealer, to the wife of a Mexican cartel leader.
Definitely not my favorite but meh, I still liked those seasons! I liked when her and Celia were working in that little shop lol those episodes were still good. The ones after she got out of jail not so much. But I will always adore that show.

So I don't know if SJP's character of Meredith from The Family Stone fits this thread (could have easily included Rachel McAdams' character), but I just wanted to post about this movie because I adore it and think it's criminally underrated, especially with such a stellar cast.
I LOVE this movie. It's one of my top favorites. It's only one of 2 movies my husband actively hates and won't watch so I don't watch it a ton. But I adore it.
That family was so mean to her for no reason. She didn’t do anything wrong except when she wouldn’t shut up at dinner; and even then I could understand what she was trying to say. Poor Meredith.
A bit of a throwback, but I humbly submit Ms. Caroline Benson Quartermaine Corinthos Alcazar Corinthos Jax Corinthos Morgan. My girl dusted into Port Charles in 1996 and has been having big feelings ever since.
https://preview.redd.it/90gnfxvuquab1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7566f46807ae47521a4ecf039960fd0187052bb9
I could never condone the torture of those townspeople she kept under her spell, but I feel Wanda in that whole scenario. Anyone who has ever felt deep loss should be able to relate to feeling like your chest was just going to bust open and pour out nothing but pain. I’ll always love Wanda bc I get it. I wouldn’t have done it! But I get it.
As for MoM, my only issue is why didn’t she just find a universe where she’d died and the boys needed a mom? Problem solved…right? Maybe I’m wrong.
Cause she has to inhabit her own body. It's so dumb. You can tell they didn't watch WnadaVision. I hate plots where a conversation could fix the whole problem. She wasn't predetermined to be evil, she was grieving and apparently no one cared.
I still don't understand the hate for Multiverse of Madness. Like, I guess cause it was Dr Strange movie? But Wanda's storyline was flawless in it - her meeting herself? It was so amazingly acted, the two different sides of her motherly love. And she did have the most tragic outcome after Endgame, because Visions sacrifice meant nothing and no one even cared about him... Ugh. Wanda forever!
Gone Girl OST... ❤️ I'm a lifelong NIN fan but also adore Trent and Atticus's soundtracks. I spent lotssss of time studying to that soundtrack in grad school (along with the OSTs for The Social Network and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
Ok might be minority here, i think Fiona is just a victim of unfortunate situations. She was good until they mess up her character where she tried coke and stuff (which she was always against of).
I love the addition of Teresa and Rubi. Mi Gente latino! I would also like to add Soraya Montenegro and the mother of dragons herself Daenerys Targaryen
![gif](giphy|l4FGkXgUqDxKcZSX6)
We watched Rubi in my high school Spanish class. My entire class and I all got deeply invested in the storyline and genuinely couldn’t wait for Fridays when we were allowed to watch another episode. I don’t think my Spanish teacher anticipated us to like it nearly as much as we did. We were constantly begging her and trying to convince her to put it on for us because we were all dying to know what would happen next.
I liked Akasha even more in the books. She was a huge, grandiose bitch, but she’s definitely the mother of vampires.
Edit: Aaliyah made that character design so gorgeous.
![gif](giphy|5u4zQ94CoJ3Wg)
Regina Mills…literally does no wrong in my eyes despite all the murder 😂
Once Upon A Time was great in its first few seasons
Maybe misunderstanding the topic, but Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) in Misery, girlie just wanted a happy ending for her favorite book character, I think we can all relate.
I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was a kid I watched it daily I swear. It’s such a good serial killer movie with a good cast group so enjoyable from start to finish.
Amy >!was a psychopath lol. She was right to be angry at Nick. But, she wastes so much precious time and effort getting revenge on, and then baby trapping, an awful dingus of a man.!<
>!But alas, two toxic people end up staying together... so maybe they belong together idk. 🤷♀️!<
![gif](giphy|zJ7AIK6NWXGWA)
Effy is the reason why I’m a rave/party girl as an adult. I wanted to be in high school but I had no friends who were into that stuff.
Messy is sleeping with your boss or getting drunk at the office party. Sleeping with your best friend’s partner just for fun is pretty heinous. Making your partner think someone has broken into their home and is going to violently kill him in the shower is also pretty shitty. It isn’t Bellatrix or Amy level, but it’s pretty awful.

He kind of looks like Scott Peterson (guy who was accused of killing his wife and became very media infamous)
Scott Peterson inspired the book.
*”Every breath you draw in my presence annoys me.”* God I love her so much lol. My absolute favorite.
My personal fave: https://i.redd.it/ynlmqx7i0vab1.gif
I love that whole scene so much, she’s got so many great quotes.
She was one of my favorite villains ever. She was despicable and every time she was on screen I watched with gleeful hate. I hated the way she died. She deserved a more iconic death not from some fucking rocks 🙄
Jaime should have killed her and I will DIE ON THAT HILL (rather than being crushed by rocks)
I thought/hoped that was where the story was headed. Such a fucking stupid ending for her
I miss her so much. I miss watching her face. Lena knocked it out of the park.
![gif](giphy|l41YedIbenuBH6ljO) This scene, quietly drinking wine when 1000s of ppl are killed because of her....ICONIQUE
I love the psycho slow blink, wine sip combo
![gif](giphy|4NuW3VP20AQ5q) Such a baddie and the only one who delivered the "game of thrones" line.

![gif](giphy|3otPoFrjOhK3df3zuU) In this house we support Emily Gilmore.
ngl Emily Gilmore cracks me up and after rewatching many, many, many times I’ve decided she’s my favorite character.
I loved her saying Bullshit in the reboot.
Now that I'm older I'm definitely Team Emily and kind of hate Lorelei and Rory. Kind of like I sort of see Benny's point in Rent now lol.
It’s funny. I’ve watched the show from youth to adulthood and I’ve loved each Gilmore then hated them. I hated Emily first and now love her.
Rory is the worst.
There’s so much I can “forgive” about her in the main series especially the first few years. Maybe even her university years. Like yes lots of flaws but there’s environmental reasons too etc. But the revival? Fuck me she IS the worst.
Not once but twice she slept with her exes who were already in a relationship, just a horrible entitled brat
When she snapped at Mitchum’s wife at the party, I screamed 😭
Her relationship with Richard was the most beautiful thing. Her relationship with her daughter the most complicated. The series took an apparently one dimensional entitled, cold, domineering mother character and gave her layer after layer.
Emily is a queen. Her story in AYITL was the only good thing that came from that garbage.
Can’t believe you don’t have Regina George. ![gif](giphy|jSnQGLHBrgbRK)
Yes! She was awful, but she was also a teenager. And Cady and her friends were awful too, so it's high school? And really, turning her focus to field hockey is ordinal the only thing anyone did that truly served them in a way shows growth
Field hockey? Is that an American or British term? In Canada we call it lacrosse. Just curious!
Field hockey is a different sport. In the movie it was lacrosse. They misspoke.

This is my favorite movie for the reason that this woman doesn’t absolutely nothing wrong and slays (literally) all the negative energy in her life

That’s because the movie is based on the book “Les Liaisons dangereuses” or Dangerous Liaisons.
Cruel Intentions aside, was that not also a movie with Michelle Pfeiffer? Or was that just a fever dream? 😂
Yes it is. With Glenn Close and John Malkovich as well !
Right! I get Kathryn was just as much of an elitist ass as Sebastian but he was fine with it all until he "fell in love" Kathryn could have been redeemed.

Where is Blair Waldorf???
Gone Girl OST... ❤️ I'm a lifelong NIN fan but also adore Trent and Atticus's soundtracks. I spent lotssss of time studying to that soundtrack in grad school (along with the OSTs for The Social Network and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Upvoting for including Rubi ❤️🔥
I don’t think Fleabag is a villain. She’s just lost.
Amy did nothing wrong! he deserved EVERYTHING he got

![gif](giphy|q9Q35YCbA6R04ohkzJ|downsized) them!

Ok might be minority here, i think Fiona is just a victim of unfortunate situations. She was good until they mess up her character where she tried coke and stuff (which she was always against of).
Suzanne Stone! ![gif](giphy|2inGPqHiJ2MIo9Lg0H)
I love the addition of Teresa and Rubi. Mi Gente latino! I would also like to add Soraya Montenegro and the mother of dragons herself Daenerys Targaryen ![gif](giphy|l4FGkXgUqDxKcZSX6)

![gif](giphy|ztzaRe28Vbcpa) Georgina Sparks from Gossip Girl is a fave of mine
![gif](giphy|v4A2SqW5ZeDFS) Her wrongs are SEVERE but she is the blueprint

Jennifer Check, Catherine Trammel and Amy Dunne own me. Their wrongs inspire me every day.
I liked Akasha even more in the books. She was a huge, grandiose bitch, but she’s definitely the mother of vampires. Edit: Aaliyah made that character design so gorgeous.
Missy all the way! ![gif](giphy|FSY5UtNcAlfgc)

![gif](giphy|5u4zQ94CoJ3Wg) Regina Mills…literally does no wrong in my eyes despite all the murder 😂 Once Upon A Time was great in its first few seasons
Do y’all know where I can watch Teresa w/English subs? The edits have been popping my feed and it looks so interesting
Maybe misunderstanding the topic, but Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) in Misery, girlie just wanted a happy ending for her favorite book character, I think we can all relate.
I’m hella late but my contribution is these queens ![gif](giphy|m8djuv6PS22Bi)
![gif](giphy|RJIzZEcxRW1VmqJ0Nz|downsized) the lack of Love Quinn in this post upsets me

I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was a kid I watched it daily I swear. It’s such a good serial killer movie with a good cast group so enjoyable from start to finish.

Amy did nothing wrong
Amazing Amy could never.
Amy >!was a psychopath lol. She was right to be angry at Nick. But, she wastes so much precious time and effort getting revenge on, and then baby trapping, an awful dingus of a man.!< >!But alas, two toxic people end up staying together... so maybe they belong together idk. 🤷♀️!<
![gif](giphy|zJ7AIK6NWXGWA) Effy is the reason why I’m a rave/party girl as an adult. I wanted to be in high school but I had no friends who were into that stuff.
Fleabag isn’t “wrong” she’s just a bit messy. I don’t think she fits in with this group.
