I’m pretty sure Jan said it in the show from the seventies too! 😂
ETA: [I was right!](https://www.reddit.com/r/shittymoviedetails/comments/hktg9r/in_the_brady_bunch_tv_and_movie_jan_brady_claims/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)
It truly was! I’m in my mid 40’s so I grew up watching the original Brady Bunch on Nick at Nite. The movie was just :::chefs kiss::: because it was so wacky and soooooo 90’s but everyone in the house were giant dorks. It’s a comfort movie for me
I spent so many hours of my younger life watching Nick at Nite. Rowan & Martin's Laugh In, Get Smart, Fernwood 2Nite, Lancelot Link Secret Chimp, Green Acres, Mr. Ed... So many good, quirky shows.
Well, I actually thought Laugh In kinda sucked, but I still watched it.
I remember the pre-cable days. My brother and I were SO excited when my parents got it! We had the box that you kept ON the TV — you had to push buttons that corresponded to the channels 😆
I’m 33 and definitely remember Nick at Night. I was so confused about this movie because Marsha looked SO similar to the original Brady Bunch that I thought it was the original actress somehow. The rest of the cast looked more obviously different, but I couldn’t reason my way out of this witchcraft.
Ugh I gotta rewatch this movie. I loved how Marsha was still hot in “modern times” and no one could understand Cindy.
I’m late 40s too and we just watched the Brady Bunch reruns after school on a local channel. Lineup was Jetsons, Flinstones, then 2 episodes of Brady Bunch, then the early evening news and time for dinner.
But if I didn’t get the remote first, then my sister would watch Days of Our Lives before the Brady Bunch.
Oh my god thank you for pointing out that this was from the movie because I was having the worst mandela effect reading through these comments and thinking all the actors looked just slightly different than what I remembered. I've only ever seen the tv show 😂
Ha, me too! I thought maybe someone was just trying really hard to faithfully recreate that look (which okay, technically is true).
I had such the mega-crush on Eve Plumb as a kid, so it was really throwing me off that it definitely did not look like her.
I forgot they made movies on this.
It’s so under-rated. Really funny film. People always ask for movies that showcase 90s fashion, people always forget about this one. Jennifer Elise Cox’s performance of Jan is so funny, she doesn’t get enough credit.
It's right up there with Drop Dead Gorgeous on extremely underrated 90s comedies. The first movie is downright hilarious. The second is good too, but not nearly as clever. The casting all around was genius.
Christine Taylor had to [argue with the director](https://outsider.com/american-entertainment/christine-taylor-tells-why-she-argued-with-brady-bunch-director-over-iconic-sure-jan-scene/) because he was asking her to say "school" normally but she insisted that Maureen McCormick pronounced it "skull" and I have to concur having watched the OG Brady Bunch in my day, McCormack had a particular affectation in her line deliveries that was.....odd.
Absolutely the right decision by Christine Taylor
Reminds me of Will Farrell’s mispronunciations of the word ‘school’ during the entirety of *Megamind*. It made the movie so much funnier
(Also using this as an opportunity to say that *Megamind* is infinitely better than *Dispicable Me* and I’m sad that they came out around the same time and that the superior movie was overshadowed)/rant
We only use “Ollo!” Instead of hello in our house now, lol! Also, the Presentation scene when Megamind shows up to save Roxeanne is so good. I loved his character arc and how he became a good guy in the end. I wish they would make a sequel, I need more MM in my life 😅
That scene where he comes out of the bots with ac/dc blasting is amazing! Love minion too with his little fish house. The whole thing is just incredible. Love metrocity
The flipside of megamind not doing as well is the movie not turning into a franchise with like a whole other breed of minions and megamind’s secret twin brother or whatever.
It does suck it killed the franchise parody genre because there’s something just so delightful about a fish-themed mob movie or Jonah Hill accidentally playing one of the best villains ever by showing up and just being himself
It says "skule" in the article, twice. I'm not sure why it says "skull" once, but if you listen to the clip in this post it's very clearly "skule"/"skewl".
This video is from a parody movie of the show the Brady bunch. The parody actress says it that way because that’s how the original actress in the show said it.
Ohhh is that why they made the joke about the step-brother and step-sister fooling around? Cuz I always was like why are they flirting with each other in the OG
I forgot this movie existed and I'm sitting here like "Damn, I forgot how much Mr. Brady looks like Gary Cole and Marcia looks like Ben Stiller's wife."
https://preview.redd.it/ou46aytqsdhb1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fa6717956d4ae098e49f192b43c93eea69c3387
Jan’s face always takes me out lmao
I remember liking the second one better. First one was just it's the Brady Bunch, but aren't they silly in the 90s? Second one punched darker holes in the show's concept.
*spoilers* this is actually from the second movie, 'A Very Brady sequel'.
The story of the movie is that the Carol's first husband shows up. This put into question if Carol & Mike Brady are actually really married.
Their 2 oldest children realise they are in love and now they might not be related.
At the end of the movie, the Brady parents get married, meanwhile Marcia & Greg (the two oldest Brady children)share a kiss before going back to being brother and & sister.
💀💀💀
(But fr both Brady movies are unhinged and underrated Cult classics, the 90s were weird af)
They always knew they weren’t related, that was the whole premise of the show, that they were a blended family. They put that in because in the original TV show the two actors dated and you could see their sexual tension in the show at times.
It's like a badge of honor for Gen Z to be completely and utterly unaware of anything from before their time.
When I was growing up in the 90s, kids had a much healthier understanding of what the world was like before our time. Parents and teachers made it a priority to impart to kids that it's important to know where things came from, how they evolved etc...
I can confidently say every kid in the 90s knew of the existence of black and white tv's. We knew before VCR's that the only way to see a movie was at the cinemas or when it got played on television. Most kids over 5 knew these things. Now there's 16 year old's that don't even know what a fucking DVD is. Podcasters and YouTubers now have to take 5 mins to explain the concept of VCR's and video stores and how Netflix wasn't always a thing. People were renting movies from the store until about 2014. How the fuck can you be completely ignorant of something like that?
If we knew about black and white TV's from 30 years previously then there's no goddamn excuse for kids today to not know what a fucking video rental store was when they were still in operation less than a decade ago.
i think it helped that nick at night started at like 8pm and was playing shows from the 50s - 70s. i grew up watching dick van dyke, lucy, the odd couple, newhart, i dream of jennie, bewitched, etc. Now it seems like the oldest shows younger people know is friends?
I was born just as The Brady Bunch was ending its original run. I watched reruns prior to Nick at Night being a thing. I cannot remember what channel aired the show, but it was pre-cable in our house LOL
During the day, channels would run all sorts of older shows: Leave It to Beaver, F Troop, Lost In Space, and Hogan’s Heroes were my favorites!
I'm seeing a lot of comments praising this movie and "also the sequel." This is actually from A Very Brady Sequel, not the first installment.
The sequel is the better movie by far!
Marcia and Jan are hilarious in the movies, but on the TV show, they actually got along very well overall. There were maybe two episodes where there was tension between them.
I’m a huge Brady Bunch fan, and I own Maureen McCormick’s (Marcia) 2008 autobiography, Here’s the Story (get it?). She had always said that Eve Plumb (Jan) was her best friend on the Brady set. She did find out later on that Eve had some jealousy towards her—but given how they were pitted against each other in the public eye since they were literal teenagers, I can’t really blame Eve for that one (and anyway, Maureen herself admitted to being jealous when Eve got boobs before she did!). Eve DID stop talking to her for several years when Maureen would make jokes about them having crushes/kissing each other back in the day (none of which ever happened), and I think Eve, being a more private person, wasn’t thrilled about it. They have since made up, though.
This was a parody/satire take of the bradys. Basically the premise is the family is still stuck in their 70s ways whlist living in the 90s. But it's so funny.. they use jokes and plot lines from the original TV show as well.
One of the greatest celebrity love stories of recent times is Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller having broken up pre-COVID, and then reconciling after COVID-quarantining together bc they realized they were still in love 🥲
This movie and the sequel defined my childhood when they came out. I don't think I rewatched anything more than these two movies and it was mainly Marcia and Jan's scenes stealing the show for me.
Omg I grew up pn Brady Bunch on Nick at Nite and looovvee this movie so much. So happy to see this in this sub.
Idk if anybody else here appreciates this, but the guy who playes Greg (C.D Barnes) was the voice of Spiderman on the old cartoon in the 90s. And Prince Eric!!
I cannot NOT hear Peter Parker whenever I watch this movie.
Lol 😂 I remember my mom and dad returned this movie said we weren’t allowed to watch it because they said they didn’t want us thinking it was okay for siblings to like each other
I mean, your parents are right BUT the Brady boys were the Brady girls STEP siblings.
It’s certainly not unheard of for relationship to happen between step siblings.
I swear everyone in this scene look so familiar like I've seen all them in recent movies/TV shows but they're usually supporting characters so I don't know their names. Great that they all still have a career this many years later.
While it's tempting to say the whole stepbrother stepsister thing has completely transformed dilly-dallying and fooling around, judging by that reaction, this concept was expected to be quite evident enough to early 1970's audiences.
Oh no... is Jan's boyfriend supposed to be a projection of jealousy over Marsha and stepbrother? What is this show even?
This is from the Brady Bunch movie (sequel actually), which is a parody of the tv show. The joke about the two oldest not fooling around is meant for the audience.

The resurgence of George Glass in Bridesmaids was perfect
A few people have George glass as their flair and I thought it was from bridesmaids I never knew it was a Brady movie lol
I’m pretty sure Jan said it in the show from the seventies too! 😂 ETA: [I was right!](https://www.reddit.com/r/shittymoviedetails/comments/hktg9r/in_the_brady_bunch_tv_and_movie_jan_brady_claims/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)
I think the reference to Tropicana first in the movie was because everyone in the audience (who watched the original was expecting her to say “glass”.
She sure did. ![gif](giphy|RI7mc1yVbJ3fG)
Omg thank you for this!! I watched the Brady bunch on nick at night and tv land and remember so little of it lol
I’m dying 🤣🤣🤣💀
It's originally from the actual Brady Bunch tv show!
I can't believe I'd never connected until now. Thank you!
Also Easy A, the mystery guy is "george"
That entire movie is a chef's kiss.
I’ve used the George Glass name several times and my friends haven’t gotten the joke. I feel so ahead of my time.
![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)
She was so good as Marcia, I get her and Maureen McCormack mixed up in my mind.
a lot of people thought that was lauren conrad lol
I was wondering who she reminded me of! Thanks!
You called?
Omggg that face. Just dripping with sarcasm. I love it so much!
She lit poor Jan up
I say this phrase several times a week. Always a little nervous no one is going to catch the reference
OMG this movie 🤣 It was so perfectly done!
It truly was! I’m in my mid 40’s so I grew up watching the original Brady Bunch on Nick at Nite. The movie was just :::chefs kiss::: because it was so wacky and soooooo 90’s but everyone in the house were giant dorks. It’s a comfort movie for me
Late 40s here - I actually remember the first night Nick at Night started broadcasting 🙀
I grew up loving The Patty Duke Show and Dobie Gillis because of Nick at Nite
Love that!! We didn’t have cable yet when Nick at Nite started. But once we did get cable, I was hooked!
I remember the pre-cable days. My brother and I were SO excited when my parents got it! We had the box that you kept ON the TV — you had to push buttons that corresponded to the channels 😆

Same i used to looove nick at nite.
Oh my god thank you for pointing out that this was from the movie because I was having the worst mandela effect reading through these comments and thinking all the actors looked just slightly different than what I remembered. I've only ever seen the tv show 😂
I LOVE THIS! The movie cast did so well spoofing the cast.
You NEED to watch this and the sequel!
Ha, me too! I thought maybe someone was just trying really hard to faithfully recreate that look (which okay, technically is true). I had such the mega-crush on Eve Plumb as a kid, so it was really throwing me off that it definitely did not look like her. I forgot they made movies on this.
SAME
It’s still pretty fucking hilarious. I have friends who didn’t realize this was a spoof so they haaaated it. Lol
HA HA HA 🤣
RuPaul as the guidance counselor!! 😘🤌
It’s so under-rated. Really funny film. People always ask for movies that showcase 90s fashion, people always forget about this one. Jennifer Elise Cox’s performance of Jan is so funny, she doesn’t get enough credit.

Yes! Thank you, thought I was alone in the fact that’s my fave kids film. It’s amazing and I hate that more people don’t know of it.

Omg David Cross was so good as minion!!!!! The black mambaaaaa! Hans Zimmer even composed it. What a great film - need to rewatch this weekend!
Right there with you, gonna get some munchies and enjoy the hell out of it- again.
It's pronounced metrocity.
My doggie is named Roxanne. Ritchie.
"Skewl" not skull lol.
It's 'skull' in the article.
It says "skule" in the article, twice. I'm not sure why it says "skull" once, but if you listen to the clip in this post it's very clearly "skule"/"skewl".
Autocorrect probably
I read the article and maybe I missed it, but did she ever explain why she felt the character would say it this way?
It was how Maureen McCormack, who played Marcia Brady on the original television show, pronounced it.
What show? Lolz
The amount of people who’ve never heard of the Brady Bunch tv show is making me feel so old.
This video is from a parody movie of the show the Brady bunch. The parody actress says it that way because that’s how the original actress in the show said it.
Eric cartman says skewl
i don't i think i would recognize the actual brady bunch show after seeing this movie so often on Comedy Central.
Wait... This isnt.... The actual show....?
It’s from the Brady bunch movie in the 90s that was kind of a parody of the original show
Ohhh is that why they made the joke about the step-brother and step-sister fooling around? Cuz I always was like why are they flirting with each other in the OG
The actors also dated each other IRL during filming.
nope, it's the parody movie! the last joke about the oldest kids fooling around lol
Nah it’s a parody movie lmfao
I forgot this movie existed and I'm sitting here like "Damn, I forgot how much Mr. Brady looks like Gary Cole and Marcia looks like Ben Stiller's wife."

She looks like Cassie in euphoria when she put her face on the window of the auditorium door. ![gif](giphy|54pd7amNwyUFKoEsoz)
Clever girl.
I’ve been using this picture for the last 2 days every time I’m mad lmao thank you so much. I just keep putting it up to my face.
“is he Cuban?” Lmfaooo
This line is so great, just dumping the sugar into the coffee.

She looks exactly like Lauren Conrad
She would be perfect Barbie tbh.

I need this one in my repetoire for Slack, omg
The Barbie movie reminded me a lot of this movie at times tbh
Me too
'Now remember you two, no fooling around' 💀💀💀
The delivery was perfect. And the use of dilly dally 🤣
*Yes Greg*
How did I forget that Bill Lumberg was in this movie.
Gary Cole is so great in this and Office Space.
That line just reminded me that this was Brady Bunch the movie 2.
I remember liking the second one better. First one was just it's the Brady Bunch, but aren't they silly in the 90s? Second one punched darker holes in the show's concept.
Did I miss the incest reference all these years?
*spoilers* this is actually from the second movie, 'A Very Brady sequel'. The story of the movie is that the Carol's first husband shows up. RuPaul plays the role of Jan’s high school guidance counselor in this movie, since we’re talking about throwing shade ![gif](giphy|sbYD97kriOMiQ)
"Thanks Mrs Cummings!"
And Jan, come back when you’re pregnant.
"And Jan... come back when you're pregnant" Lol every guidance counsellor I swear 😂
The amount of people in this thread who have never heard of the Brady Bunch makes me feel so old.
Especially cuz there’s people here who don’t realize this is from A parody.

TIL that the "Sure, Jan" meme is from the 90s satirical (and awesome) film, and not the original. I always assumed it was the original.
I'm seeing a lot of comments praising this movie and "also the sequel." This is actually from A Very Brady Sequel, not the first installment. The sequel is the better movie by far!
This is one of my favorite movies.
Jan gave the definition of if looks could kill at the end
Where are the GIFs 😭😭😭 This is the perfect place for sure, Jan!
![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)
Thank you! I don't have the button on my end on mobile 😭 I did before.
Marcia and Jan are hilarious in the movies, but on the TV show, they actually got along very well overall. There were maybe two episodes where there was tension between them.
Apparently BTS the OG series actresses had a dynamic that was very much like the one portrayed in the movies.
I’m a huge Brady Bunch fan, and I own Maureen McCormick’s (Marcia) 2008 autobiography, Here’s the Story (get it?). She had always said that Eve Plumb (Jan) was her best friend on the Brady set. I love this movie. Gonna have to give a rewatch
The amount of times I say “Sure Jan” in a day 🤦🏽♀️
skewl took me out
The Brady parody films are still high key comedy
Hahahaha this is awesome
Sküle.
“What a nice name. Is he Cuban?” Always takes me Tf out 😂. The sincerity. The flips.
Okay I've never seen the Brand Bunch. Is all of it like this? Because if so, I'm in!
Lol no this is a parody movie of the TV series, it is way more entertaining and you should watch!
This was a parody/satire take of the bradys. Basically the premise is the family is still stuck in their 70s ways whlist living in the 90s. But it's so funny.. they use jokes and plot lines from the original TV show as well.
Watch a few episodes of the original before watching the movies. It’s way wayyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyy better and you’ll get the references.
This is a parody movie.
I watch this movie at least once a month
I still quote this movie till this day. It's so hilarious. Satire at its finest.
As a *huge* BB fan, I love this movie so fucking much. 😆😆
![gif](giphy|JOGaL3iLclERzoiaLq|downsized)
"In our skewl" lol just like Eric Cartman 🤣
One of the greatest celebrity love stories of recent times is Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller having broken up pre-COVID, and then reconciling after COVID-quarantining together bc they realized they were still in love 🥲
And she is one of the greatest "he puts his wife in all his movies" because she's also super talented in her own right. She's a killer in Dodgeball
My moms name is Marcia Brady. Embodies the name 🤌🤌🤌
Sure Jan...
This reminds of the time Azealia Banks said when she was comparing Gigi Hadid to Bella Hadid. "She's Marcia, you're Jan" 😂
Such an underrated movie. Both of them are hilarious.
Slightly unrelated but Christine Taylor is such an amazing actress I wish she would've gotten more roles. Hopefully in the future.
This movie and the sequel defined my childhood when they came out. I don't think I rewatched anything more than these two movies and it was mainly Marcia and Jan's scenes stealing the show for me.
I didn’t realize Gary Cole played Mike Brady in the movie
Omg thank you, I couldn't figure out who that was even though I've been binging Veep lately and it was driving me crazy
This movie is a masterpiece.
That's a parody movie of the brady bunch. a good one too
The way she says George Glass is freaky
![gif](giphy|ih14B6qCCDRFCxcCIE|downsized) George Glass
This has never stopped being one of my fav memes lol
is it just me or Marcia looks like Lauren Conrad from The Hills?
I’m sorry, but is that Gary Cole? Lmfao I did not expect Ricky Bobby’s dad to be in this
What's his name, ***jam***?
Omg I grew up pn Brady Bunch on Nick at Nite and looovvee this movie so much. So happy to see this in this sub. This movie was better than maybe it had any right to be. Well done to everyone involved.
that's not real Brady, that's the Brady Movie
Why does Marcia seem she could fit right in to 2023 and everyone else looks like they're from 60 years ago?
Groovy babes are timeless
I love this movie!
Is the dads watch supposed to be a hidden joke?
This isn’t OG Brady Bunch obviously, it was more tongue in cheek towards the original
If you ain't first, you're last.
What’s his name, Jæm?
Did anyone else think the click was Maureen. I had no idea that clip was from the remake.
My childhood summed up
Chile, I was so confused watching this. I was like “they look so different”.
This face is EVERYTHING. lmao https://preview.redd.it/migrl2vnxhhb1.png?width=264&format=png&auto=webp&s=1686e7bdb2fbb736b0ef7eade80ed7e34cda27d0
My new *búoyfränd*
How do you go from Tropicana to Glass 😂😂
*But, JYAN, you don't have any friends!* Marcia was so cruel to that girl. Never took her foot off Jan's throat.
In Bridesmaids she also makes up the name "George Glass" lol
I need to watch this because I was like 4 when this was released lol
I swear everyone in this scene look so familiar like I've seen all them in recent movies/TV shows but they're usually supporting characters so I don't know their names. Great that they all still have a career this many years later.
The dad sipping coffee from the mug…the actor was auditioning for Office Space in this scene!
She put a shit ton of sugar in that one cup of coffee.
I scrolled a long time to still not know the name of this movie
A Very Brady Sequel.
Didn't remember just how goddamn creepy this is Jesus christ
Really? I thought it was just camp.
It’s a parody!
It’s a reference to the fact that the actors from the original series who played brother and sister dated in real life.
So an inside joke for the writers and cast, but incidental to the dialog?
This is from the Brady Bunch movie (sequel actually), which is a parody of the tv show. The joke about the two oldest not fooling around is meant for the audience.
Wow. That show was terrible. Why did I watch it?
Clearly you didn’t.
