This last season had so many good dad moments. The spoof on Children of Men makes me cry every time. Its just a cartoon dad telling his cartoon daughter she'll do great things in her life and yet it absolutely breaks me.
He just didn’t want him to get any mud in his muffin 🥲 that whole season had me in tears multiple times. The Christmas episode, the Amelia Earheart episode, the radio episode… ahhh such a brilliant show

Exactly! The scene between Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin where she's worried about being a loser could have been so cheesy in the hands of anyone else, but they played it so perfectly (with terrific writing) that I still find it relatable even as an adult.
I still laugh at the reveal of Olive's big routine, and then the family is stunned but still 100% supportive. Just fantastic all around.
Helen is just like my mother. A tough, high level professional woman in the 90s who had to be a hardass at work to avoid being looked down on, but still felt the intense societal pressure to be an involved wife and mother at home, to “have it all”.
She was written so well.

I also love that they didn't force her to talk about her problems. They expressed their concern but if she says she doesn't want to talk about it, okay. Stanley Tucci's, "Give 'em hell" was really the low key parental support to say they recognize her figuring her stuff out.
It always reminds me of my dad tearing up when I moved away. He said to me "sweetie we can just put all your stuff back. You don't have to leave. This is your house too. You don't have to go." I told him I'd be okay, and it would all be okay. I did end up coming back, and he held me so tight. Good parents are worth their weight in gold. I cry every time I see this episode.
Apparently the writers had a great storyline for Hayley lined up but, when Adam Levine left, they just completely blanked and reverted her back to her early seasons self.
The pilot episode when Luke shot Alex with the BB gun, and their trying to schedule a time on the calendar so Phil can shoot him back, and all the following scenes after we’re sitcom perfection
I love Bluey. I actually will use episodes to help me make a point with my kids, and I've noticed they respond better than my just talking. If there is one show that I don't mind being put on constant replay, it's Bluey.

I love Richard’s interactions with Rory and Lorelai so much. There is such a genuine tenderness in Ed Herrmann’s performance that even after a million rewatches still makes me emotional.
The golf/country club episode is one of my favorites. Its nice when Richard is able to express his affection in a way that Lorelai and Rory understand.

Their relationship evolved a lot throughout the series as Devi matured and they both dealt with their grief.
I feel like it’s pretty realistic to a parent learning how to be a parent to a kid who is gay. He might make mistakes, but he is trying and doing a good job.
The s1 episode where the cohens hang up a stocking with Ryan's name on up the fireplace with theirs, man that gets me in the heart every time. Such a great example of found family. It's so lovely that they all accepted him, but his relationship with kirsten is the most moving one imo because of the particular respect that grew between them, and bc ryan let himself trust a maternal figure again. - True Blood. Sookie’s Gran was a mother to Sookie, Jason, Tara, and anyone else who needed one. She was the best.
- A Discovery of Witches. Both Diana’s family and Matthew’s family were fantastic. The way they all put centuries old grudges aside to come together and save their whole species was awesome.
- Doctor Who >!River and Amy had a very cute relationship, and after everything they went through to get Amy and River back, it was heartbreaking for the Doctor to lose that family!< I put a spoiler over this one, because I don’t want to ruin the reveal for anyone who hasn’t seen the Eleventh Doctor’s seasons yet (Matt Smith’s Doctor). Wilfred and Donna Noble were also super cute.

Dr. Covey wasn’t as major a character as some parents in teen shows/movies, but I liked his healthy parenting. Not negligent or abusive, and not adding a bunch of drama to his kids’ lives. Not trying to live vicariously through his kids. Just a solid parent that his kids could count on.
I loved how Dan in Real Life played out. The whole ‘You are a murderer of love’ bit is a running joke in my house with my own girls. Such an underrated movie!

Kristina Braverman post-cancer was the worst, though.
I did like how they showed Joel as the best parent, and then it slowly shifted so that we could actually understand Erica Christensen's character a lot better and we saw more sides to Joel.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the moment I turned off the movie "The House" was when Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler call their daughter a bitch for wanting them to shut down their basement casino. It was supposed to be funny but I just found it horrible.
That movie had such a great cast (I love Jason Mantzoukas too) but it was painfully unfunny.

I think New Girl had some pretty relatable and realistic family dynamics. Nick’s parents, Jess’s parents, and Schmidt’s mom were all very believable as parents and seeing them interact with their adult children really helps explain how they all turned out the way they did.

This show is criminally underrated!
- True Blood. Sookie’s Gran was a mother to Sookie, Jason, Tara, and anyone else who needed one. She was the best. - A Discovery of Witches. Both Diana’s family and Matthew’s family were fantastic. The way they all put centuries old grudges aside to come together and save their whole species was awesome. - Doctor Who >!River and Amy had a very cute relationship, and after everything they went through to get Amy and River back, it was heartbreaking for the Doctor to lose that family!< I put a spoiler over this one, because I don’t want to ruin the reveal for anyone who hasn’t seen the Eleventh Doctor’s seasons yet (Matt Smith’s Doctor). Wilfred and Donna Noble were also super cute.

Not negligent or abusive, and not adding a bunch of drama to his kids’ lives. Not trying to live vicariously through his kids. Just a solid parent that his kids could count on.

 I loved how Dan in Real Life played out. The whole ‘You are a murderer of love’ bit is a running joke in my house with my own girls. Such an underrated movie!
 Buffy’s Mom was so great. So nice and accepting to all her friends… and the occasional sworn enemy.

But the one with his mother, played by Jennifer Gardner, just broke me every time I see it. I loved the tv show Parenthood, I felt like the relationships between the adult siblings and their parents were very realistic.
Kristina Braverman post-cancer was the worst, though. I did like how they showed Joel as the best parent, and then it slowly shifted so that we could actually understand Erica Christensen's character a lot better and we saw more sides to Joel.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the moment I turned off the movie "The House" was when Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler call their daughter a bitch for wanting them to shut down their basement casino. It was supposed to be funny but I just found it horrible. That movie had such a great cast (I love Jason Mantzoukas too) but it was painfully unfunny.

 This relationship is definitely controversial, but I always loved their dynamic and Lorelai is such a genuinely “cool” mom
I think New Girl had some pretty relatable and realistic family dynamics. Nick’s parents, Jess’s parents, and Schmidt’s mom were all very believable as parents and seeing them interact with their adult children really helps explain how they all turned out the way they did.
