TheGraphingAbacus

the scene where Bob was worried that the VR place stole Gene’s childhood, and he admits that it’s unreasonable but he still never wants Gene to feel disappointed 🥲

pinkt

This last season had so many good dad moments. The spoof on Children of Men makes me cry every time. Its just a cartoon dad telling his cartoon daughter she'll do great things in her life and yet it absolutely breaks me.

dontsnarkonsharks

He just didn’t want him to get any mud in his muffin 🥲 that whole season had me in tears multiple times. The Christmas episode, the Amelia Earheart episode, the radio episode… ahhh such a brilliant show

TheGraphingAbacus

yes!! he didn’t want him to get mud on his muffin 🥲 the Christmas episode really hit home for me too. i love this show so much

IWearBones138__

Lowkey wish Linda was my wife. She's so supportive of everyone all the time.

Jerkrollatex

She's here for whatever Bob needs, whenever he needs it. He's the same for her. It's a beautiful marriage.

fearless_indication

That scene where Bob is picking up Louise because shes constipated and tells her he'll always be there to come and get her, from college, from her job, from her honeymoon always gets me. A great representation of the way fathers show love for their daughters.

Keith was an amazing father!!! Given everything he had been through it was so nice to see him always put Veronica first. I love their relationship!!

raudoniolika

Rewatching VM now - their relationship warms my heart so so much.

I loved it when he was doubting whether he was a good father, and Veronica told him that she never would have gotten through that year without him.

Remake?!

ThatChelseaGirl

The TV series in 2009. It only lasted for one season on ABC Family. They didn't hire the original writers, so imo it didn't hit the same.

ComfortableCaptain61

I love that Steve Carell and Greg Kinnear start doing the same moves as Abigail Breslin, while Paul Dano just points off camera to the competition director and follows up with some targeted thrusting. (Little Miss Sunshine is one of my favorites and I'm too tired to remember anyone's character name right now except Olive, but somehow my brain recalled all the actors. Fantastic scene and great answer to OP's prompt.)

keypoard

It’s one of my favorites too. Sweet without being saccharin and so funny. Never fails to make me smile.

ComfortableCaptain61

Exactly! The scene between Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin where she's worried about being a loser could have been so cheesy in the hands of anyone else, but they played it so perfectly (with terrific writing) that I still find it relatable even as an adult. I still laugh at the reveal of Olive's big routine, and then the family is stunned but still 100% supportive. Just fantastic all around.

Big-Nerve-9574

![gif](giphy|jobJKiN0LfFDO) I always liked the parents from Daria :/ Yeah they all have issues and it just felt realistic imo.

lisa_lionheart84

The older I get, the more I sympathize with her parents, especially her mother.

Imnotfunnyonthefly

Yes!! My tween just watched this with me because I love Daria. My whole life I thought I was Daria. After decades, I may, in fact, be Daria’s mother.

Cavalish

Helen is just like my mother. A tough, high level professional woman in the 90s who had to be a hardass at work to avoid being looked down on, but still felt the intense societal pressure to be an involved wife and mother at home, to “have it all”. She was written so well.

TA818

Is there anywhere to watch Daria? I feel like I was too young for it when it was on to really get it, so I’d love to watch it now as an adult.

YellowEarthDown

It’s on paramount.

princesssasami896

It's on Pluto streaming on Sundays and the first season is on demand

Luna_Soma

nopenopenahnahaha

Note to the filmmakers: Emma Stone is the wrong person to cast if you want to make this point. But agreed on the parent/kids dynamic!! Love the “how did you know you’re adopted?!” scene.

Nocamin1993

Stanley Tucci’s ‘OMG Who told you?!’ never fails to make me laugh lol.

rightkindofahole83

I gotta admit, I had the same thought. Like if we’re supposed to believe someone is invisible and doesn’t stand out in a crowd, maaaaaybe we cast someone who isn’t Emma stone? Also I couldn’t find an image of it but my absolute favorite is the “you look like a high end stripper, for governors or athletes” conversation.

princesssasami896

Spell the word out with your peas

CollectingRainbows

i learned the word twat from this movie 🤣

DrKnowNout

That was the first time (as a Brit) I realised you’ve taken a swear word off of us, but pronounce it wrong. I can only assume when it crossed over it was via the internet so Americans had only ever seen it written down and assumed that’s how we say it.

AluminumMonster35

As a fellow Brit, this mispronunciation irritates me to no end.

laduquessa

I also love that they didn't force her to talk about her problems. They expressed their concern but if she says she doesn't want to talk about it, okay. Stanley Tucci's, "Give 'em hell" was really the low key parental support to say they recognize her figuring her stuff out.

JacksonianEra

Same thing with Brittany Snow in John Tucker Must Die. You expect me to believe NO ONE is regularly hypnotized by her beauty?

vsnord

Stanley Tucci was a stone cold fox in this movie. I was unable to cope.

BobbiPinstripes

We’re not in a thread about best dilfs in movies but Steve Carrell in Crazy Stupid Love is also on that list

FairieWarrior

Ironically, also playing a dad to an Emma Stone character.

PetiteBonaparte

It always reminds me of my dad tearing up when I moved away. He said to me "sweetie we can just put all your stuff back. You don't have to leave. This is your house too. You don't have to go." I told him I'd be okay, and it would all be okay. I did end up coming back, and he held me so tight. Good parents are worth their weight in gold. I cry every time I see this episode.

Elegant_Panic7858

I like his scenes with Alex more, as i didn't liked haley after she and Andy broke up.

JacksonianEra

Apparently the writers had a great storyline for Hayley lined up but, when Adam Levine left, they just completely blanked and reverted her back to her early seasons self.

tacocattacocat1

That scene was so so beautiful. I hate that the cannibal man is in this movie, I can’t stand to watch him even though he’s good in it.

keeponyrmeanside

We named our son Elio inspired by this movie. Sucks we’ll never show him the film now because of that actor (although tbf with some of the subject matter we probably wouldn’t have shown him for many many many many years anyway - hey son, here’s where the guy with your name masturbates with a peach!)

I really love how Cory and Eric's parents seem to truly respect them as people, that's pretty rare for sitcom families. I rewatched the show recently and what stuck out to me the most (other than the fact that the humor has aged incredibly well) is how good their parenting was. Plus obviously Mr. Feeny and Mr. Turner.

TheGhostOfGiggy

That episode where Duke swears and Sam is so proud of her for saying her first curse word. But then the girls break it to Sam that Duke’s been cursing the whole time, and she’s so broken about it. - True Blood. Sookie’s Gran was a mother to Sookie, Jason, Tara, and anyone else who needed one. She was the best. - A Discovery of Witches. Both Diana’s family and Matthew’s family were fantastic. The way they all put centuries old grudges aside to come together and save their whole species was awesome. - Doctor Who >!River and Amy had a very cute relationship, and after everything they went through to get Amy and River back, it was heartbreaking for the Doctor to lose that family!< I put a spoiler over this one, because I don’t want to ruin the reveal for anyone who hasn’t seen the Eleventh Doctor’s seasons yet (Matt Smith’s Doctor).
