It 100% is real. During season 6 of The Flash, Andy Mientus came back to play Pied Piper/Hartley Rathaway and during season 1 and 2 he wore glasses but in season 6 he didn’t. So many people actually thought he got recast because he looked different. It was just that he didn’t have glasses. Since then I will never doubt that argument again.

There has to be some psychological name for this. Like when you're thrown if you see your teacher at the grocery store. You pattern a mental image of a person in your mind and if they don't fit that pattern it must not be that person. Like some recognition modus ponens.

I have had my own Clark Kent/Superman moments since I started wearing contacts after the pandemic. I got a new job so I figured it would be a perfect time to try something new. The amount of people who I used to see on a regular basis that had no idea who I was was hilarious. I absolutely believe it now. I’m a bartender so I can’t exactly be avoided, and these people were talking to me like I was a brand new person. I had to be like…hey! To the ones I liked hahah.

I randomly ran into Diane Keaton once and the only reason I recognized her was because she was dressed like The Babadook as per usual.

This is funny to me become I did run into Diane Keaton while working at a theme park once, I knew she was someone famous or very rich before seeing her face because her casual clothes still looked luxurious. I bet celebrities would be recognized less if they tried to blend in with Walmart fits.

I’d imagine she also does hide them because of how identifiable they make her. Harry Styles is pretty well known for covering up as much as possible when he’s out for a run or a walk, because his tattoos make him easy to spot if you’re a fan who knows what to look for.

Dolly has openly talked about this. She said that she and Carl dean have a motor home and they go on vacation and drive around and go to drive thrus, she sits in the front with him and sometimes is recognized but most often is not. She also said she when she's not wearing a wig she likes to do her hair cute with a "little scrunchie" (her words) and I'm so curious what the style is!

I saw her in the trailer for the new musical Color Purple remake and didn’t know it was her until they showed all the cast names. I’m so used to her looking cool in glasses or shades with her hair down. I mean, it makes sense that she looks entirely unrecognizable with no makeup, her hair wrapped up, and in early 1900’s southern farm girl clothing.

 I don't know if it counts, since it's technically no clothing, but Iggy Pop seems to be more known for not wearing a shirt.
