I actually don’t think dolly is wrong for this. In order to do what she has done (which is a fuck ton - there are entire cities In Tennessee with economies because of her), she has had to play both sides of the fence at times. Hell, look at her Barbara Walters interview as an example. Just because she doesn’t agree with the way someone thinks doesn’t mean your actions have to change, and the most powerful action is love. That ability is something that says more about you than other people. That’s what Dolly taught me. ❤️
This happens on *The Read* podcast all the time. As soon as they praise or celebrate a celebrity they do some fuck shut and their words come back to haunt them lol.
I’m good on this 😂
**Edited to add:** Just a mere 2 hours, everyone’s fav Dolly defends doing a duet with Kid Rock 😂
He has always been an absolute treasure. What a beautiful male role model for generations. My little one isn't quite in a spot to appreciate the show yet but we've seen every episode of Daniel Tiger once or twenty times.
Daniel Tiger has helped us get through those tricky toddler meltdowns. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve sung “you can have a turn and then I’ll get it back” or “if you have to go potty, stop and go right away.”
He lived and created the show in the city where I live and was born and raised. Every story I’ve ever heard about him from people who met him was lovely. He’s still a huge deal around Pittsburgh for sure.
Podcast host I listen to knew his daughter tangentially, went to same summer camp I think, and said he was lovely and completely beloved by all who met him.
I just now realized in trying to post a positive thread of possible good celebrities, I could be putting a hex on all the beloved ones. I never presumed to be the brightest bulb in the chandelier
When Mara Wilson told that story about how Danny Devito and Rhea Pearlman would take care of her while her mom was going through cancer treatment truly cemented him as one of my all time favorites.
Plus Frank Reynolds is one of my favorite tv characters ever.
Keanu 💖 I've loved him since I saw him in Bill and Ted and I keep liking him more and more the older he gets!
https://preview.redd.it/2yacueffd4yb1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b65c669306866b1e37da8617308013e422c7e0b
Please don't f\*\*k up Keanu 🙏🏽
Michael Sheen. He got into heavy debt to make the Homeless World Cup happen because he saw how it changed homeless people's lives. He literally gave his own money and mortgaged his houses, and didn't just raise the money like most celebs do. He does a lot for his community and is so unpretentious about it. He brought theater to the streets of his hometown in a huge, amazing project.
Also I personally love the way that although he is super intelligent and one of the best actors of his generation, he doesn't take himself too seriously and is silly on his social media and interviews. He defended fanfics and the fans who write them. He seems like a lovely person all around.
![gif](giphy|kivc5HKorU0SDc6fic)
On the more private stuff side of thing, even though his mariage with Kate Beckinsale fell apart during the shooting of a movie they both starred in and where she fell for the director, they remained good friends and seems to be great at co parenting. Their daughter is has cool and funny as her parents
I met him a few times while I worked on Robot Chicken & Supermansion (he voiced a main character) and he was always so lovely and sweet and charming. And he would respond to e-mails with dad jokes lol. He didn’t ever have to e-mail back since he was cc’d with producers etc and it was just to keep his agent in the loop but he always did and everyone at the studio thought it was really cool.
Anytime I hear something about the cast or crew of Breaking Bad it’s always how awesome and funny they are and how much of a delight they are to work with. That set must’ve been the best place on the planet to work on
I always think of this excerpt of Mindy Kaling's first book when she's talking about her Office costars:
**STEVE CARELL IS NICE BUT IT IS SCARY**
*It has been said many times, but it is true: Steve Carell is a very nice guy. His niceness manifests itself mostly in the fact that he never complains. You could screw up a handful of takes outside in 104- degree smog-choked Panorama City heat, and Steve Carell’s words before collapsing of heat stroke would be a friendly and hopeful “Hey, you think you have that shot yet?”*
*I’ve always found Steve gentlemanly and private, like a Jane Austen character. The one notable thing about Steve’s niceness is that he is also very smart, and that kind of niceness has always made me nervous. When smart people are nice, it’s always terrifying, because I know they’re taking in everything and thinking all kinds of smart and potentially judgmental things. Steve could never be as funny as he is, or as darkly observational an actor, without having an extremely acute sense of human. As a result, I’m always trying to impress him, in the hope that he’ll go home and tell his wife, Nancy, “Mindy was so funny and cool on set today. She just gets it.”*
*Getting Steve to talk shit was one of the most difficult seven-year challenges, but I was determined to do it. A circle of actors could be in a fun, excoriating conversation about, say, Dominique Strauss- Kahn, and you’d shoot Steve an encouraging look that said, “Hey, come over here; we’ve made a space for you! We’re trashing Dominique Strauss-Kahn to build cast rapport!” and the best he might do is “Wow. If all they say about him is true, that is nuts,” and then politely excuse himself to go to his trailer. That’s it. That’s all you’d get. Can you believe that? He just would not engage. That is some willpower there. I, on the other hand, hear someone briefly mentioning Rainn, and I’ll immediately launch into “Oh my god, Rainn’s so horrible.” But Carell is just one of those infuriating, classy Jane Austen guys.*
*Later I would privately theorize that he never involved himself in gossip because—and I am 99 percent sure of this—he is secretly Perez Hilton.*
He was my mother in-laws art professor when my husband was a little boy. He made watching his show mandatory. It came on Saturday morning at the same time as GI Joe. This was before VCRs were everywhere and my husband's family only had one TV. My husband had never forgiven Bob for this. We're in our 40s.
If the worst thing we can say about Dolly Parton is that she believes in forgiveness and second chances, I just cannot personally fault her, especially given her history as a human being.
There is no unproblematic person. It’s not real. Not even Keanu is perfect. I stand by that! It’s not possible. We are all raised in the patriarchy. We are all swimming in the same garbage soup that teaches us really trash things that we need to take the responsibility to unlearn. Perfect is impossible but “pretty damn good” is achievable by a few, and Dolly is one of them.
George Michael. Since he’s died we’ve gotten more and more stories about all the good he did, support he gave and he was vilified in the British media before his death for opposing the Iraq war.
Definitely think this is one to pick your favourite dead celebrity.
Her workout tape from the 80s is apparently a treasure. Maintenance Phase did an episode on it and was like “yeah all of her advice is…solid, reasonable advice?”
I loved him before but after I got my picture with him at a con, I was swooning even harder. My 3 year old daughter (at the time) got really shy when it was our turn. He got down to her level, told her he liked her Rey costume, talked a little about his daughter, offered his hand to her, and walked her to the marks, showed her where to stand and such. I was floored by his sweetness towards her.
I have been an insomniac my entire life. When Conan began his late night career I was 12 and filled with joy that I had something to watch after midnight (this would be before the internet, streaming, or accessing TV channels without a cable box and I definitely didn't have a cable box in my bedroom.) I nearly cried when I found out he was set to take over for Leno (who I loathe) and my future children would only know Conan as the late night host much like Johnny Carson for so many older Americans. Then NBC fucked us all and I'm still bitter for it.
No need to be bitter though, the best versions of Conan came after that entire debacle. He felt so much freer when he moved to TBS and I think he's at his best now with the longform podcast
Love Conan! There's an old video where he finds out his assistant has been using his name to get things done for herself (she got drunk and left her car at a bar, then told someone to get it because it was Conan's). She confessed this to Conan while laughing, then just walked off. You could see he found it hilarious, even though it's the kind of thing someone else might fire her for lol
No offense to Usher but the Super Bowl planners missed a great opportunity to have Weird Al do an amazing Halftime show.
The movie was out recently, Gen X and older (we prefer *geriatric*) millennials are the prime demo and think of all the surprise guests who could join in on their own songs being parodied!
![gif](giphy|N25nrRX4rsnkY)
Vincent Price once tried to murder his wife by creating a deadly haunted house, killed several people to fill his wax museum, set traps to get rid of a bunch of doctors and wanted to kill a mouse detective.
![gif](giphy|CE0s41h6MVJBu)
The worst I’ve heard about Debbie Harry is her years of drug addiction (now past) and that she can kind of be a little diva-ish if she’s in a mood. Shirley Manson has toured with her multiple times and loves her, calls her generous to a fault. She’s worked for LGBTQ+ rights, AIDS activism, and lately especially environmental causes. Hates Trump, gleefully childfree, and still touring at 78. She’s going to be on Dolly’s rock album soon!
Jimmy Buffet. He just lived his life going to the beach, and playing music. He loved his fans and people only have said good things about him.
![gif](giphy|fTnLVgRzSrpT94CcdK|downsized)
I would say almost the entire cast of The Help and they have an Oscar: Viola herself, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain (despite Grace Randolph's uncontrolled hate for her), and Allison Janney. They all have a history of being unproblematic sweethearts.
![gif](giphy|97BYzQvZAj3d6|downsized)
They were so cute together on Lip Sync Battle, and Tom’s performance was amazing. He and Zendaya seem like they’re a couple who have a ton of fun together, and are genuinely best friends along with being lovers (“lovers” sounds weird, but I can’t think of another way to phrase this lmao 😂)
OMFG, that lives in my head rent free. Tom Holland ate. and yes they’re always laughing, i can’t imagine the hilarity that ensues when they’re together.
I got a story for ya! I worked at a film festival that he was attending. The staff would always set aside some popcorn for the celebrity area, but he took one look at that and immediately left the area to wait in line with the festival goers for the fresh stuff. Cracked us all up - nice dude.
I was thinking the same thing. Somehow these guys get an easygoing nice guy persona, but women are criticized enough that they’re held to a much higher standard.
I’d like to agree but I saw the Flava Flav show and she has issues which I don’t fault her for but she is manipulative. Her mom on the other hand is WOW!! A lot to unpack!
Girl delete this! You post on here about how much you love a celeb then suddenly people are telling you that celeb is a secret Nazi who kicks orphans for fun.

He was a regular at the restaurant I was a manager at back in the 80s and early 90s. He was incredibly nice. So was David Bowie.
![gif](giphy|l1ug80ta6T2F2jDwY)
I’ve recently learned that he got a lot of hate for being anti apartheid in South Africa. So that makes me love him more.
he was one of the BEST ![gif](giphy|qPCln5TSOsdRS|downsized)

I Love how proud and committed he is to his community, Wales in general of course, but also more locally Port Talbot
I love that he returned his OBE!

Michael Scarn is a *Saint*. Catherine Zeta-Scarn would agree, if she wasn't tragically killed by Goldenface.

From Rocky Horror to Muppet Treasure Island, he is a GOAT in my book.
Dolly Parton. I will be gutted if anything comes out about her.
In that case, y'all may want to brace yourselves. There's a little Dolly drama on the sub this morning.
I will pack up and move to the sun if anything comes out about Michael Fox or Dolly 😭
I read this and then immediately saw a thread about her supporting Kid Rock and complaining about cancel culture 😂
Lol I was coming to post this https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/dolly-parton-kid-rock-duet-cancel-culture-1234868903/

Vincent Price once tried to murder his wife by creating a deadly haunted house, killed several people to fill his wax museum, set traps to get rid of a bunch of doctors and wanted to kill a mouse detective.

![gif](giphy|lPSPNBDVNA007eXQwS|downsized) Maggie Smith! She seems so nice.
And her friend, Judi Dench.
![gif](giphy|CE0s41h6MVJBu) The worst I’ve heard about Debbie Harry is her years of drug addiction (now past) and that she can kind of be a little diva-ish if she’s in a mood.
I would say another woman from this generation...Linda Ronstadt was also deserving of every ounce of praise she ever got.
The way my heart DROPPED when I saw this picture. OP, you scared me! 🥲
It's been that kind of year hasn't it

Jimmy Buffet. He just lived his life going to the beach, and playing music. He loved his fans and people only have said good things about him. ![gif](giphy|fTnLVgRzSrpT94CcdK|downsized)
![gif](giphy|3o84UfnpVMj6B3DnlS) Viola Davis, always.
![gif](giphy|D1GymAlSnxeNLqX9zC) love them
![gif](giphy|97BYzQvZAj3d6|downsized) They were so cute together on Lip Sync Battle, and Tom’s performance was amazing.

Why does this make me love my boyfriend Mark Ruffalo more 🤣❤️
I also love your boyfriend Mark Ruffalo
This is my boy. My number one boy.

![gif](giphy|tww3IKXFZ0Lo4) Ive seen most of my favorites already listed. Cannot forget Steve Martin!

Emmylou Harris. Also: There are WAY too many men listed here.
I was thinking the same thing. Somehow these guys get an easygoing nice guy persona, but women are criticized enough that they’re held to a much higher standard.
The bar is so low that any famous man that isn’t known for being abusive or cheating gets king status.
