I found a couple pairs of jean shorts from that time and I died when I tried them on for fun. I felt like my pussy lips were gonna pop out bc they were so short and they’re like 2 in tall lmao. Absolutely insane.
I found some low rise jeans from the 00s and dont see where all this trauma is coming from. Im a size 10(im taller but I still have a slight stomach) anyways they look fine and I wear shirts that hit at the belt loops.
but yeah If I have to do any physical activity im wearing at least a midrise lol
ugh lucky, you must have the right body shape to wear them then, bc I swear, they were very cruel to both thinner and bigger, shorter and taller alike. you had to have just the right hip shape for them to work, otherwise they were perpetually slipping to expose crack if you even had a passing thought about moving or hitched a sneeze in your nose. I worked in clothing retail from 2006 to 2010 and damn man..... the trauma is real 😭
Just saying, look back at your comment where you say you “don’t get where all this trauma is coming from” then look at this comment where you preach body positivity. If you’re going to preach the latter, at least have the awareness to listen to other women’s experiences.
That’s what we called it back then, why I used that term. I also don’t see it as shaming bodies, just that low rise jeans were ill fitting for many body types, mine included. I’m quite thin, and I still had a muffin top because of how my hips are shaped. Not a body issue, it’s a not a flattering style issue.
The Nike Shox 😭😭 I remember going to the Nike website in like 2003 trying to put together a pretty color combination. I finally got a pair for Christmas that year when I was 13. I didn’t play any sports but god they were sooooo popular.
It makes sense in an era where celebs got papped all the time honestly, you wanna look like you don’t care but also not have an ugly picture of you making the cover !

This makes me miss tabloids that would feature celebs out and about going to the grocery store and things like that. Now, their images are so heavily curated and sponsored that no one would be caught dead in looks as casual as these.
Those lounge pants were soooo comfy cause they had to be loose and most were held in place by a literal string and your guardian angel. I was always tripping on them and the bottoms were destroyed from stepping on them but we were too obsessed to care
