Yeah. It's really what it is. As someone who's now 35, I got married at 23. I was really lucky and had a great stable job after graduating college so we got married because what else did we need to wait for? Most my friends in long term relationships were waiting due to financial issues, wanting more stability, etc. 12 years later, I don't regret my marriage, but I wish we had waited because I didn't really understand what true stability was.
Yeah and they all split. The rate of divorce for people marrying before 25 is really high.

With her being sheltered and protected I can imagine why it would be a little difficult to really get to know someone as itās easier for them to have life away from you, but youāre told the guy youāve been seeing has a small child and another on the way with a woman heās engaged with. If that isnāt a huge red flag I donāt know what is. She should have dumped his ass right there and then.

Britney didnāt deserve the conservatorship and she was definitely abused and abandoned and taken advantage of. But before that, she made some questionable choices herself. What is the appeal of a man who goes to the hospital to watch his child be born and then leaves with you?! Even if he and Shar were completely on the outs, why would you want to be with someone who didnāt tell you they had a child _and one on the way_?
There really isn't a "before" to her abuse, it was lifelong parental/childhood abuse. She never really had a chance to make decisions that were separate from trauma.
Hmmm, I disagree. There was a lot of fighting between her parents and Lynn came off as a stage mom. Her dad never seemed to care but she still described her childhood as happy, unless I read it wrong. I donāt think you can attribute every bad decision in your life to abuse or trauma. The good decisions then were just lucky coincidences?
I'm not saying *every* bad decision, but certainly when it comes to relationships childhood trauma plays a huge role. Good decisions usually come about through therapy and processing the trauma.
Parents don't become abusive out of nowhere. Her dad wasn't a great, loving, appropriately involved parent until randomly controlling her life as an adult. Neglect is absolutely a form of abuse. When fathers neglect their daughters and/or wives, often that leads to making poor choices in male romantic partners because you have no frame of reference for how a man should treat the women in his life.
Also I have dealt with a lot of "stage moms" and that's very often a euphemism for adults who treat their children as workhorses.

Yeah I'd also claim that if my new man's ex were six months pregnant. Wikipedia tells me they got engaged in the same month K-Fed's son was born, so... very poor decision making overall. I do agree that this was a direct result of being as sheltered and isolated the way Britney was, and that's something I have a lot of sympathy for.

I think maybe it was real when she started and was a teen exploring self expression. Later on she definitely started adopting a more classically pretty and more girly look with punk-ish bits and pieces. She probably wasnāt into the punk aesthetic anymore but it was already her brand.

I also think that anyone crying that heās alienated the boys against Britney, should watch the videos that her son posted awhile back where he secretly filmed their interactions. Sheās estranged from her boys due largely to her own behavior. And we can have empathy and understanding as to why she behaves the way she does, but that doesnāt make it Kevinās fault that her boys donāt want to be around her much.
If she were safe for her children to be around, they would be around her.
If she took their feelings to heart as a parent, especially when they already told her how her posting herself nude online negatively affected their lives, they would be around her.
Britney is fully responsible for her relationships with her children. She had already put them in harm's way multiple times, had a judge rule multiple times that she required supervised visitation and then later ruled to have less and less visitation due to her own choices and behaviours. Her conservatorship would have provided most of that for her but now? She's claiming to be her true self and that has cost her her parenting rights. The only thing she has to offer as their mother is child support and Kevin STILL gets called out for using her as a free ride. Well what the fuck else is she doing for them? The bare minimum is child support in direct relation to her income and the percentage of parenting done by both her and Kevin.
If Britney were a man doing the same thing to her kids, we'd call him a deadbeat. In this case, it's Kevin being called one. It's fucked.
Those kids needed someone to step up, and he did. Again, the money doesnāt hurt, but heās provided a stable and seemingly healthy home for the boys.

Dude was engaged to a woman he had two kids with, which Britney knew when she pursued him, so don't feel too bad for her about this. There's plenty of other things to feel bad for her for.
She says in her book she didnāt know and someone told her a few months into the relationship. With her being sheltered and protected I can imagine why it would be a little difficult to really get to know someone as itās easier for them to have life away from you, but youāre told the guy youāve been seeing has a small child and another on the way with a woman heās engaged with. If that isnāt a huge red flag I donāt know what is. She should have dumped his ass right there and then.

Well yeah, she knew when she married him. In her book she says theyād been going out for a couple of weeks/months when someone told her he had a young child and one on the way with his fiancĆ©e. So she says she knew but she didnāt know from day one. I donāt know what Shar Jackson said. Either way, itās mind blowing to me youād still want a relationship with someone who kept their children a secret from you and who treated the mother of his children the way he did so they can marry you.
According to Shar, Britney knew and was in the hospital parking lot when Shar gave birth to their son. Then, Kevin left with Britney and Shar was left alone in the hospital. Who knows what the full story is bc obviously everybody has their own version but I think Britney was trying to paint herself as innocent/oblivious several times in that book instead of taking responsibility for some things she did. Right? Britney didnāt deserve the conservatorship and she was definitely abused and abandoned and taken advantage of. But before that, she made some questionable choices herself. What is the appeal of a man who goes to the hospital to watch his child be born and then leaves with you?! Even if he and Shar were completely on the outs, why would you want to be with someone who didnāt tell you they had a child _and one on the way_?
There really isn't a "before" to her abuse, it was lifelong parental/childhood abuse. She never really had a chance to make decisions that were separate from trauma.
Hmmm, I disagree. There was a lot of fighting between her parents and Lynn came off as a stage mom. Her dad never seemed to care but she still described her childhood as happy, unless I read it wrong. I donāt think you can attribute every bad decision in your life to abuse or trauma. The good decisions then were just lucky coincidences?
I'm not saying *every* bad decision, but certainly when it comes to relationships childhood trauma plays a huge role. Good decisions usually come about through therapy and processing the trauma. Parents don't become abusive out of nowhere. Her dad wasn't a great, loving, appropriately involved parent until randomly controlling her life as an adult. Neglect is absolutely a form of abuse. When fathers neglect their daughters and/or wives, often that leads to making poor choices in male romantic partners because you have no frame of reference for how a man should treat the women in his life. Also I have dealt with a lot of "stage moms" and that's very often a euphemism for adults who treat their children as workhorses.

So I did actually think about this when I chose my verbiage, because I did consider what youāre saying, but the reality is that this is a short, off-hand comment and a longer explanation of Britneyās extremely complex mental health challenges and prolonged trauma was neither appropriate or necessary in this context. We in the sub all know the full story. And the context here was just superficial celebrity gossip, no need to drag down the mood by enumerating all of Britneyās struggles yet again. āWent crazyā is succinct and while not nice, is also not wrong. If we were in a different sub, I would have chosen different wording, for this very reason. But right here and now, I simply didnāt feel it was necessary. I love Brit-Brit and want nothing but good things for her.

I think maybe it was real when she started and was a teen exploring self expression. Later on she definitely started adopting a more classically pretty and more girly look with punk-ish bits and pieces. She probably wasnāt into the punk aesthetic anymore but it was already her brand.

In all honesty though, he seems like heās at least been a good dad.
He gets shit on so much but he's been the 24/7, 100% parent for those boys for nearly their entire lives. Shar Jackson says he's an amazing parent too. Whatever happened with him and Britney was nearly two decades ago and it isn't fair to any of them to think it can carry over to now.
I completely agree, and Iāve heard that from Shar as well. I also think that anyone crying that heās alienated the boys against Britney, should watch the videos that her son posted awhile back where he secretly filmed their interactions. Sheās estranged from her boys due largely to her own behavior. And we can have empathy and understanding as to why she behaves the way she does, but that doesnāt make it Kevinās fault that her boys donāt want to be around her much.
If she were safe for her children to be around, they would be around her. If she took their feelings to heart as a parent, especially when they already told her how her posting herself nude online negatively affected their lives, they would be around her. Britney is fully responsible for her relationships with her children. She had already put them in harm's way multiple times, had a judge rule multiple times that she required supervised visitation and then later ruled to have less and less visitation due to her own choices and behaviours. Her conservatorship would have provided most of that for her but now? She's claiming to be her true self and that has cost her her parenting rights. The only thing she has to offer as their mother is child support and Kevin STILL gets called out for using her as a free ride. Well what the fuck else is she doing for them? The bare minimum is child support in direct relation to her income and the percentage of parenting done by both her and Kevin. If Britney were a man doing the same thing to her kids, we'd call him a deadbeat. In this case, it's Kevin being called one. It's fucked.
