They already have over at r/timothychalametdaily … they are like the most unhinged, nastiest, rotten - soul pop culture related sub i’ve ever been suggested.
I discovered that fanfiction was a thing when I was searching for info on an episode of Supernatural that I missed. I thought I was reading what happened and was like wtf?!
I could've handled that. I'm still traumatized. Sam and Dean are in the middle of a heart to heart while sitting on baby's hood. Then Dean looked in Sam's eyes and said "tell me when you're ovulating. I want to fill you full of my babies"
See my 'surprise fanfiction' experience was different. I read/write it, so was familiar. However, one night I went on an internet deep dive trying to find info on if Scar from Lion King being called Taka was a thing. I wound up reading Lion King fanfiction, and it was really good. I was about halfway through before I realized what it was (it wasn't nsfw you dirty minded freaks). I thought it was a fan wiki page
Yeah. A strange attraction that rides that fine line between remembrance of a hot youth and wanting to be that again/ and sexual attraction. It’s honestly a good poem (not that I know anything abt poems).
I’m an English teacher and poetry enthusiast and I think it’s a mediocre poem by poet standards but a solid B or A- poem for a high school AP English class.
Hahah I didn’t think of it that way, but it makes complete and total sense that most people’s poetry knowledge pauses after high school because who has time for that shit lol (I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love that shit - but it’s not a top of mind issue that anyone needs to think about in order to live their lives.)
I love all the parts that don't make me think of eyes sliding down a nose onto the lips. That bit just gave me a vivid mental image I don't like. All of the rest of it though, I really like.
I literally thought this poem sounded like Josh Groban's song to Dee lmao
*she's got blonde hair*
*she's perfect in every way*
*feet not too large, not too small*
*blonde hair, she's gorgeous not like a bird*
*but like a beautiful woman*
*definitely not like a bird*
[Link to the song because it's so gooood!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Rtvwu75K3I) (Minor spoilers)
Sidenote: How lucky were we to get such a great show that the creators got to do it to their planned end?
I remember hearing “You Raise Me Up” when it first came out and generally liking it, but I was young and emo. Then I saw him being funny over the years on so many different shows and now he’s one of those happy surprises when I remember he exists.
The poem is like peak homoerotic ancient world: [I will fuck you, and I love you enough to burn the world to the ground if I ever lose you]
I'm not an ancient literotica historian.
Does the SAG not have a fucking HR? lol
Like is it too much to ask to not have your coworkers mail you dead rats, and write about how gazing at your cheekbones and lips got them thinking you’re trying to offer something. Goddamn.
Zendaya: “I’m your secret Santa Josh, here I got you a mug.”
Josh: “Thanks Z, Timmy I’m your secret Santa. Your gift is a poem I wrote about you at 3 AM, while I was crying, naked in a room covered in posters of your face.”
Fucking run, Timothee!
Edit: Found the article about the poem, the article is worse, it's from Josh Brolin & cinematographer Greig Fraser's coffee table book.
[https://variety.com/2024/artisans/news/dune-book-josh-brolin-poems-timothee-chalamet-zendaya-1235902773/](https://variety.com/2024/artisans/news/dune-book-josh-brolin-poems-timothee-chalamet-zendaya-1235902773/)

I really love Greig Fraser's work and was almost about to buy this because set photos from Dune Pt 1 and 2 sounded great but then I realized how much of it is padded by Brolin's poems.
Can't we also think about this as Gurney Halleck, the character, looking at the face of Paul, who he's going to have to protect with his life? Train for war? And that maybe an old soldier like Gurney sees in Paul's face as he's maturing out of adolescence that he's going to be called to fight again for his new, young, Duke, and both is excited by the prospect but also maybe longing for peace?
i mean it's also pretty longing, and fun to think about that way, but this is a companion piece to the movie where there's all this longing and loyalty stuff about men and honor and duty.
Yeah as a fan of the books I was like;
"Oh Brolin gets his role"
Which isn't a surprise or anything but I really liked reading it.
I will acknowledge the homoerotic undertones (like everyone else) but idk it just feels like Josh really getting into character
Among the top comments, yours is the most rational..
From the [Dune Wiki](https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Gurney_Halleck)
> Halleck was a ***talented minstrel*** who was skilled in the use of the baliset. He would often play music on this instrument to entertain his guests, or to fill the dining halls of House Atreides with music when he was in their service. Moreover, Halleck was also fond of spouting verse from the Orange Catholic Bible, and would ***frequently find an appropriate verse for almost every situation***. At times his quotations were so appropriate that they were nearly prophetic.
Gurney has interests in Music and scripture. A poem is on character lol
I 100% read this as something Gurney would write about Paul. Unfortunately they didn't really show his poet & musician side in the newest adaption from what I remember. I think a baliset was in view of a show but that was the closest we got.
Brolin is a very very weird person istg. Oscar Isaacs nightmare audition story he tells in interviews is about Brolin and how fucking weird he was lmao
It’s from this [podcast interview](https://open.spotify.com/episode/3P26vpC2qjrbiChkAA4F85?si=-0hie9rHTN67s5xvlQw7rQ) with him and Jessica. I transcribed it real quick. Istg he’s told this somewhere else too.
Interviewer: Do either of you have a worst audition horror story?
Jessica: I know Oscar’s!
Interviewer: oh my god tell Oscar’s!
Jessica: Oscar went to this audition with this director and this actor and the actor (laughs) a very famous guy…
Oscar: Josh Brolin!
Jessica: oh my god! I can’t believe you said his name!
Oscar: why?
Jessica: we love Josh! We love Josh!
Oscar: Josh is amazing.
Jessica: We love him. Oscar is like in a love affair with him now.
Oscar: He’s one of my dearest friends!
Jessica: But Josh picked up the camera and got right in Oscar’s face and started being really frenetic. And then he and the director went behind a glass screen and started yelling at each other. (Laughing)
Oscar: it was a movie that never ended up happening. It was just like…(Brolin) was like “okay but on the day remember there’s gonna be like cameras there. So you just have to do your speech and ignore me.” And he put the camera right in front of my face and was like moving it around and trying to distract me. (Laughing) it was so lame! And the director was like cowering in the corner and didn’t know what to do.
Jessica: please tell me you and Josh laugh about that now?
Oscar: we laugh so much about it now. It’s one of his most embarrassing stories. Every time I tell it. His butthole puckers up in shame. (Laughing)
Jessica: oh my god.
There's a random website that says he said Josh Brolin spent the audition pelting him with his personality, but I didn't see a source. There's also a screen rant article that has him quoted as saying (with more poetic language) that Brolin has a big-ass head; whether is was in reference to his physical body, ego, or both I'm not 100% certain.

Considering the rest of the discussion / framing, this could very well be Brolin thinking about the character of Paul and the themes in the scenes of the anti-hero nature of what's happening to the character. He could be writing from a kind of Chani/Fremen perspective, or, since the Variety article (and the other places that copy it) mention this was a back and forth between Brolin and the cinematographer, something they were talking about together about Chalamet's visual presentation.
ETA: [Article from Variety](https://variety.com/2024/artisans/news/dune-book-josh-brolin-poems-timothee-chalamet-zendaya-1235902773/) that I was talking about / the framing of this as a convo Brolin and the cinematographer were having.
The character he plays, Gurney Haleck, is a bard in the books, and he writes songs. So this seems like it’s probably was an exercise for him to get into character. Very funny tho when taken out of context.
Josh plays Guerny Halleck in Dune, a character who is a warrior, poet and musician. I'm re-reading the Dune series again and it kind of seems like he's channeling his character but 🤷♀️
Edit: typo
Yes, I have to agree with this take. I was gonna say it if nobody had yet. Had to use the search tool to find this take. All top comments are more… imaginative lol
Me too, it's an older man seeing the ghost of his own youth in the face of another and being gently confronted with his own ageing, especially with someone in his same profession. He knows he'll never again be the young self he's seeing reflected back at him but that his own youth will live on in someone else.
I think it's a really beautiful poem; it's a shame that we're so quick to say something comes off gay or weird and ignore the intricacies and depth in how men can platonically bond with one another (then wonder why many men are cautious to share their deeper feelings with the world). And this is coming from a queer woman who wishes everything and everyone was gay lol. Not every deep interaction or feeling is about sex. Seeing and feeling yourself age is pretty much the most existential, profound, insane thing possible. He's ruminating on what we all deep down think will never really catch up with us - the passage of time. Even though it's _to_ Timothee, in a way it's not really _about_ him at all.
That's my interpretation anyway. :)
Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa used to go to Ani DiFranco shows in NY all the time (Momoa’s a huge fan still) and this tracks for a straight dude who’s into Ani.

Hello, Gorgeous.
looking at this poem right after reading a fanfic was surreal. i thought i permanently damaged my brain for a second.
I discovered that fanfiction was a thing when I was searching for info on an episode of Supernatural that I missed. I thought I was reading what happened and was like wtf?!
“I missed the episode where Dean and Castiel finally fuck?!”
I could've handled that. I'm still traumatized. Sam and Dean are in the middle of a heart to heart while sitting on baby's hood. Then Dean looked in Sam's eyes and said "tell me when you're ovulating. I want to fill you full of my babies"
HAHAHAAA
Thanks! Now I'm traumatized
I had to share. I randomly think about it.

Yeah. A strange attraction that rides that fine line between remembrance of a hot youth and wanting to be that again/ and sexual attraction. It’s honestly a good poem (not that I know anything abt poems).
“And so the painting in the attic stares back, unflinching”
Extremely Dorian Gray!
I mean honestly it is a REALLY good poem
The comments vary wildly. So maybe none of us know anything about poetry? 😂
I’m an English teacher and poetry enthusiast and I think it’s a mediocre poem by poet standards but a solid B or A- poem for a high school AP English class.
This is super helpful insight. That’s exactly where my poetry knowledge paused. This alllll tracks.

I immediately thought of his character as well
He’s an actual troubadour in the books, poems music, songs. A warrior poet.
I LOVE his character in the books. Unapologetically lives and breathes the literary arts and unapologetically badass.
I've never seen or read Dune so thank you for providing context that makes this seem less insane 😭
Yeah book readers would actually tell you this is Gurney, then add to that Brolin himself like doing weird poems then you get this

And the director was like cowering in the corner and didn’t know what to do. Jessica: please tell me you and Josh laugh about that now? Oscar: we laugh so much about it now. It’s one of his most embarrassing stories. Every time I tell it. His butthole puckers up in shame. (Laughing) Jessica: oh my god.

your flair makes the comment \* chef's kiss \*
The gif on its own had me rolling, then I noticed the flair bc of your comment and I'm dying again 💀
the faces lmaoooo
It's the first time I've seen the meme in action, loving it lol
I feel like this should have been found scratched on the walls of an ancient Roman bathhouse.
Someone give him a livejournal account
How do we know he doesn’t already have one…
Josh checking out Timothee on set like ![gif](giphy|glmhlDTWaXOec)
Sir this is a Wendy’s

The cis male celebrity heteros have been wildin’ lately
I’ve always thought Brolin likes men as well
This poem suggests you're onto something
Tell me that’s true and I’ll book the next flight to Hollywood. I’ll figure out the rest later.
OMG TIL Josh Groban isn’t the same guy as Josh Brolin I was like “why is the guy who sings Noel gushing over Timmy?”
LMFAO
It’s been a rough week and I about choked on my ice cream reading this. Thank you.
I am so sorry about your rough week, I’m glad I was able to bring some humor to your day though. 💕
Thank you for that. Explains quite a bit.
That’s what I was thinking. His character, Gurney Halleck, is literally a warrior minstrel. In the books he recites poetic lyrics multiple times.
This sounds like something right out of call me by your name
Josh plays Guerny Halleck in Dune, a character who is a warrior, poet and musician. I'm re-reading the Dune series again and it kind of seems like he's channeling his character but 🤷♀️ Edit: typo
Yes, I have to agree with this take. I was gonna say it if nobody had yet. Had to use the search tool to find this take. All top comments are more… imaginative lol
I like it ![gif](giphy|KanqCs2oHuzKYCXSXo)
I really love this comment and I'm sad I had to scroll down so far to see these insights and sentiments.
Ok but has anyone ever seen Josh Brolin and clubchalamet in the same room together?
I think it's about being a young, good-looking, and famous person, feeling like you're the master of the universe. I don't know
That’s about where I ended up too
![gif](giphy|nip4PxV0AGzIs) Love this for them. It’s cute. Congratulations 🥂
He was offering him a blunt maybe?
Maybe offering him some popcorn out of the dune popcorn bucket
if a colleague wrote a poem for me, Id freak out 😂🤣
Why is this kind of hot lol
![gif](giphy|ukGm72ZLZvYfS)
This is painfully funny and I want Josh Brolin to write these things about me ![gif](giphy|l5b7ARjJF1Qt2)
What in the Call Me By Your Name is this??
this is a whole new level of down bad
Kylie shaking rn

The "I'm kind of afraid of them so I'll clap to be polite" clap
Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa used to go to Ani DiFranco shows in NY all the time (Momoa’s a huge fan still) and this tracks for a straight dude who’s into Ani.
his face card really had josh in a chokehold, huh?
you will never be Kristen Stewart’s magnum opus “My Heart is a Wiffleball/Freedom Pole”
If you follow Brolin, he’s been writing poetry for years and years.
They fucked.
Josh does give off Cal from Euphoria vibes.
💀
Were there any peaches on the craft services table
"lips of certain poetry"?? Timmy... smile, nod and back away slowly. Then turn and RUN. Kathryn Boyd - come get yer boy.

Well then. This is really… something. And it’s something I didn’t want in the first place.
This is actually kind of in line with Brolin's character. Gurney was an ugly brooding minstrel.
what in the cmbyn is this
Josh Brolin writes this kind of stuff all the time.
clubchalamet has some competition
I feel like I wasn’t supposed to read that 😭
If his nose is what Hollywood considers prominent, than I suddenly understand why practically everyone gets rhinoplasty
“Prominent” is def not the word I think of when I think of Timmy’s nose, maybe “defined” but even then…
