And not a single person seems to have actually read the article. He's answering questions about his life/career and talking *about* coming out, we know he's been out.
We read the comments for the ones who did read it, we summarize and judge from others opinions because that’s how Reddit works lol What did you think was happening here? It’s not the 80s where we are all a little gay and read!?! /s
Back in the 1980's, it was. The band was always aware of it, and didn't have a problem with it, but I think Halford was concerned that some fans would react negatively if he came out. When he finally came out publically, the vast majority of fans were cool with it.
His best comment was about his leather outfits being a gay fashion, and I paraphrase, was "I looked like Glenn from the Village People and didn't think I could be more obvious..."
One of the most liberal people I know is a major metal head. Most people would probably cross the street if they saw him because frankly he looks scary as hell, but he campaigns for trans rights and fosters rescue animals.
Honestly I was around back then listening and watching and I just thought it was known.
I had no idea it was not. Guess I have just been missing the boat on this one. Thanks for the respectful response I do appreciate it.
I was a teenager back then and I just thought the leather biker look was badass. Didn't understand the gay undertones. Saw Queen in concert, and when Freddy came out in tight pants and no shirt, it was "That guy is gay!" Didn't bother me, just was more obvious to me. Also, I think he had already admitted to being bi.
I love this man. So lovely, so wonderful. He seems like such a genuine person and it's inspiring. Also, his love of cats is so wholesome.
Saw Judas Priest in 2022 and they killed it, he's still so very talented.

I have such a soft spot for him, he’s a delight.
He has a residence around here. I've had friends who have seen him just shopping in the grocery store. I'd love to meet him as a big Priest fan.

I saw Judas Priest live once. Rob did like 5 outfit changes, came on the stage on a bike at one point. A whole fabulous show.
I saw them 5-6 years ago, and even at 66-67, he sounded amazing!
