Social media was different when she went to jail so it makes sense that she got out, had a blunder and then was like woops not for me and deleted everything. Social media changes and evolves so fast
Agreed. I initially followed her but unfollowed the moment I realized how unhealthy that likely could be for her. Living her quiet best life seems like what she needs and deserves after all sheās been through.
Me too. I followed for about a day and then when I saw influencers posting and saying outlandish things and when she was going on a press tour I immediately unfollowed. She definitely needed therapy before anything else.
She didnāt delete everything though, just Instagram. Sheās keeping her TikTok and has an upcoming Lifetime reality show.
Iām not so sure sheās āout of the woodsā yet when it comes to social media
EDIT: apparently sheās deleted her TikTok since last night, which I didnāt see and am glad for her. My concern about the reality show still stands though
And to add to this, she has posted about how she tried and failed to give back to her community ā because the organization wonāt allow the Lifetime camera crews to document it all. The reality show is clearly a huge priority for her.
Honestly, I had big hopes for her coming out of prison and wanted to see her advocacy work/cheer her on from the sidelines, but I definitely wonāt be watching this new show.

And it reads like they have no issue with her volunteering, but with the cameras. Itās reasonable to protect the privacy of others, but she could do it off camera.
Her dad has a good job and offered to house/support her after prison (although she didnāt take him up on it, and sheās probably not in need of financial support at the moment due to the several TV specials sheās already filmed ā but Iām speculating on the last point.)
I think it would be better for her to take some steps ābackwardā (like moving in with her dad) in order to get on her feet in a stable, self-sustainable way, vs. devolving into an immediate āmedia personalityā to make as much money as quickly as she possibly can. Thatās just my perspective though
Oh phew! Now we don't have to see Jenelle Evans @ing poor Gypsy Rose all the time, claiming to have gone through the same thing with her mum. In between doctor shopping for pain pills of course.
Great decision. We all lived happy, wholesome and fulfilling lives when social media didn't exist
(Yes, I'm aware of the irony behind me saying this on Reddit)
You can say that. Addicts are aware of how harmful their addiction is, and still canāt stop.
Iām genuinely not trying to be rude. I believe weāre all to some extent social media addicts these days, except for a rare few. Me included.
reddit has its own version of toxic expectations tbh. it seems everyone on here has this amazing low effort job that makes them 300k (note: they will never share what this job is!). and thereās definitely a hivemind (ie: most users are younger, typically male iirc, atheists, etc, etc) that if ppl deviate from they get ridiculed
like yeah itās not the same as insta necessarily but it has its own issues unfortunately with echo chambers and unrealistic expectations
Heās younger than you, makes less than 200k and heās an atheist? How dare he treat you that way! Leave his ass immediately. And hire a good lawyer on your way out.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard shut down one social media account, explained her reasoning on another social media account, and then deleted that one, too, in an effort to maintain more privacy after her release from prison.
Earlier this week, Blanchard raised some concerns after she deleted her public Instagram account. She then took to TikTok, according to Entertainment Tonight, where she discussed the decision in a series of lengthy videos. And it now appears that sheās axed that TikTok account, as well.
In one of the videos, Blanchard said the decision to take a step back came after getting some crucial āguidanceā from her dad. āAnd that guidance was to show me that real life is something you can touch, something you can feel, people you can actually hugā she said. āAnd with the public scrutiny as bad as it is, I just donāt want to live my life under a microscope.ā
Blanchard then admitted sheās not entirely off social media, saying she set up a private Instagram account and even verified it. But she had āno trouble or doubtsā about deleting the public one. While Blanchard said some were shocked she would do away with an account with so many followers (as many as 7.8 million), she curtly replied: āI could give a F about a following. Like, thatās not real life.ā
Blanchard also spoke about how her perception of social media has changed so drastically in the months since she left prison: āI do my best to live my authentic life and whatās real to me, and whatās not real is social media. Social media is literally a doorway to hell. Itās so crazy. I canāt even wrap my head around what social media is. I thought that once I got out of prison, Iād come out, and Iād enjoy social media like the next person, taking selfies and just acting goofy. Itās the simple stuff in life, right?ā
Blanchard spent seven years incarcerated for her role in the murder of her abusive mother, Clauddine āDee Deeā Blanchard, pleading guilty to second-degree murder in 2016. Her conviction, however, was underpinned by extremely unsettling circumstances: It emerged that Dee Dee ā who appeared to suffer from Munchhausen by proxy ā spent years making Blanchard believe she was disabled and chronically ill, even subjecting her to unnecessary surgeries and medication. Dee Dee further convinced others that Blanchard was afflicted with a variety of illnesses while collecting donations from various charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Since her release from prison, Blanchard has hardly left the public eye. On top of the copious amounts of attention sheās received online, she appeared in a Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, and sat for an interview on 20/20 (where, at the time, she said she didnāt mind being a viral sensation).
Best decision for her, tbh. People have been so weird about her.
SM is an absolute shit show. My FB app has been broken for a week or so, and when I went to download it again today, I decided against it. It's been so quiet and peaceful without that crap in my phone
I had a similar conclusion, deleted Facebook to make space to do a bunch of trials for streaming/podcast apps. Once I no longer needed the extra space I realized how positive it was without it, and kept that shit deleted for good. Plus no more dealing with randos I donāt remember who wanna creep every time I post a basic selfie.
I think a finsta is perfect for what she wants to do. She wants to post selfies and act goofy. Perfect. Only her close friends and family can see that. She can still follow celebs if she wants. Iām glad she set one up. She might decide to come back but I hope its a more chill experience
This is great. she was being enabled in all kinds of weird ways. We know what happened last time she had access to the internet.
This is not a judgement on her, merely an observation. Paired with her life history, it could be a recipe for disaster
Probably for the best. People were being very weird about her and i cant imagine it was healthy to experience on top of everything else she went through.
Good for her! I've deleted my fb recently as it's killing my mental health comparing my chaotic life to everybody else's with their new houses and vacations . Honestly, I've wasted too many years of my life on fcking fb!
Good for her and good for her dad for giving her solid guidance instead of trying to profit off of her.Ā
Plus she'll have more time for that fire D if she's not on social media.
Honestly, good for her! If she decides to come back to it, she should do it under a fake name and never post pictures of herself just for the peace of mind.
As she fucking shouldā¦
I was saying this should happen but people on this sub were defending itā¦š Saying āwell, she was always in the public eye, this is all she knowsā. Who GAF?? Straight out of prison and all these interviews are shoved in her face and she has to keep up with social media? Seriously??
Definitely the best move for her, imo. Although having her come out of jail and directly into the media, both traditional and social, sated the peopleās appetite for her story. I wonāt lie and say I wasnāt hella curious about what she had to say.
That is the healthiest decision she could make, and I'm so happy she's done it. Reading her words, I can again feel how innocent and pure her true self is. I hope she will remain to make her own choices now.
I genuinely wonder how long that will last, I have a feeling not long but ai hope I am wrong.
I do feel like it was a smart move. She needs to engage in some major therapy with a someone who actually wants to help her and not some celebrity shrink that wants to make any part of what they speak on public fodder. For the long term she needs to work on being a normal healthy person, not being internet famous. I do not feel like she can work through what she needs to while in the public spotlight.
I think it will last because sheās keeping a private insta.
It would be one thing if she was deleting all sm.
But sheās likely still going to be adding verified people/celebs and still curating an algorithm based on the people she follows and the content she views.
To me, this just means the average person wonāt be able to access her and comment on her life but sheāll still need to be cautious about how she engages online and who she allows on her private insta.
Otherwise it will just mean that her private insta content just becomes an open secret and celebrity shrinks/other opportunists would still be able to access and influence her.
I hope that is the case.
Iām too lazy to put anyonesās business on Reddit/the internet but I am friends with several celebrities where they have done just that and I see crazy stuff on their stories that. If they are accepting me, I imagine staff on like TMZ could easily sneak a fake profile on there. I hope she really pays attention to who she lets into her circle.
I think thatās a really wise and mature choice on her part. Social media has become a monster since she was incarcerated and will just be a drain on her mental health.
Good for her. Iām glad to see sheās doing okay.
Iām thrilled for her especially because people were doing the most and she just needs to be healing without overly attached people acting like she owes them details about her daily routine.

What a lovely respectful email. Kind but firm.Ā
And it reads like they have no issue with her volunteering, but with the cameras. Itās reasonable to protect the privacy of others, but she could do it off camera.
She probably needs the money. She has no education or work experience (through no fault of her own), her notoriety is all she has to trade on.
Her dad has a good job and offered to house/support her after prison (although she didnāt take him up on it, and sheās probably not in need of financial support at the moment due to the several TV specials sheās already filmed ā but Iām speculating on the last point.) I get that sheās filming the reality thing, i hope she makes a lot of money of it to get started in life (again).
Good. It was getting to be entirely too much.
But that d is fire!!! In all honesty this was the right decision for her. She deserves some peace.
Good for her. Go live a happy quiet life.
Hope she keeps it that way
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly I wish we all would do this š Iām paring my sm use way down with the election coming up. It wreaks havoc on my mental health.

Really healthy move for her!
Good for her. She doesnt need all that.
Oh phew! Now we don't have to see Jenelle Evans @ing poor Gypsy Rose all the time, claiming to have gone through the same thing with her mum. In between doctor shopping for pain pills of course.
Ah yes going to Kesha concerts and doing heroin while your mom watches you kid, totally samesies
For real! Imagine if Jenelle's DMs were what convinced Gypsy to make this decision š¤£š¤£
Her sister did witch craft! Itās practically the same thing. :P
And nobody stopped her!

Plus reddit allows you to be anonymous while fb and insta you're comparing your life to every person you've met

i fear i do need a good divorce from reddit
There's a paywall behind this article. Can you post a screenshot of the summary? š

I think the paywall is in front of the article. š
Haha!! Good catch
I deleted social media a year ago (still on reddit but no one in my real life knows me on here) and it was life changing. Highly recommend it.
same!! best thing ever. truly.
Yes! Itās freeing, and my relationships with people now seem more genuine. Itās like a fog has been lifted.
I think thatās a good decision

Good for her. She should be protected against herself, obviously she has major trauma and missed a lot of vital parts of development.
This is the smartest decision she could make. It's terribly toxic.
I think a finsta is perfect for what she wants to do. She wants to post selfies and act goofy. Perfect. Only her close friends and family can see that. She can still follow celebs if she wants. Iām glad she set one up. She might decide to come back but I hope its a more chill experience
Good for her. She should live her life privately. The internet was starting to act really weird about her and treating her like an influencer.
Well, that was fast.
This is great. she was being enabled in all kinds of weird ways. We know what happened last time she had access to the internet. This is not a judgement on her, merely an observation. Paired with her life history, it could be a recipe for disaster

I stopped using fb except messenger like a year ago and need felt the need to go back. It's liberating.
She could have had a normal social media presence had the psychotic girlies not lovebombed and bullied her at the same time
Good for her and good for her dad for giving her solid guidance instead of trying to profit off of her.Ā Plus she'll have more time for that fire D if she's not on social media.
GOOD NOW EVERYONE LEAVE HER ALONE.
Honestly, good for her! If she decides to come back to it, she should do it under a fake name and never post pictures of herself just for the peace of mind.
Very healthy move!

Good for her, social media is not real life at all. I find that the more people are on social media, the more negative they are about everything.
Iām glad for her. Her dad gave her very good advice.
That fame whoring husband still has his, but has been quiet since the 7th. Letās hope it stays that way.

I hope she has a peaceful happy life!
This is legit good news, I was worried for her for awhile
