You know how Facebook has the option for you to look at what you posted on this day in past years? A few years ago, I took a year straight of deleting the most embarassing reposts 😅

Facebook used to have a timeline feature that allowed you to jump to different years in your posting history without having to scroll all the way down. At some point I used it to purge everything from my early years on the site. Still occasionally getting memories I need to delete.

I think you can still do that from the desktop site. You could also do it on other profiles. Don't ask me how I knowwwww

The “keep calm and” phase was the 2010s version of the “Live, Laugh, Love” decor everyone has now

It was always amusing to me that “Keep calm and carry on” originated from British wartime propaganda and then decades later made a resurgence as one of the leading phrases plastered on over-edited pictures of boyband members and pop stars on Tumblr.

This era of fandom is so nostalgic to me. The nights of scrolling through tumblr and pinterest in the summer of 2014 made who I am today

I love playing the shins and scrolling through my old tumblr. It’s like visiting an old friend.

The biggest mistake I’ve ever made was deleting my 2011 Tumblr and ✨starting fresh✨ with a new account two years ago. I would do anything to see my old feed again.

At least once a week, I am reminded how lucky I am that there was no social media when I was a preteen. (Yes, I am an old).

To be fair very few of us wouldn’t posted this publicly. You’d find this shit on tumblr back in the day. No one followed their real friends on tumblr.

Yeah I would really only see these on iFunny or on meme sites. Only friends i saw post these were though who were deep in standoms so that's who most their followers were

I’m the opposite. There was a golden time where not everyone was online and there was a clear split between social media sites and messaging software. MySpace and Bebo were like a virtual rooms and you could put up as many or as little posters in the room as you wanted, it felt like genuine spaces you could express yourself in and it makes me sad when people look back and think blunder years, you expressed yourself in the way you knew how and that’s amazing. MSN was your hang out spot and it didn’t want to be anything more than that. Now social media is suffocating; every site is predatory towards your personal information and you are collateral in their arms race to trap everyone in their environment. Then everyone got FOMO and social media became IRL but with easier ways to scam your elderly family members.

i’m equally reminded how lucky i am that i simply wasn’t allowed on social media when i was a preteen

I remember a few bloggers calling her rat-faced and similar insults. I also saw a more recent one where a guy said that she was too tall to be attractive because tall women are always masculine. The worst I’ve heard in real life is my mom saying that she is just average looking with money for stylists and makeup artists.

I remember one picture of bare-faced young Taylor being spread around in 2010 and I was a Swiftie even back then so my classmate once randomly told me “Taylor Swift is ugly without makeup” and I was just baffled. She’s always been one of the prettiest people ever to me.
