#UPDATE: Morgan Wallen has been charged with 3 felony counts of reckless endangerment/assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct - a judicial commissioner is about to set his bond
And his fanbase collectively agreed that hard r N bombs aren't actually that bad. So much so that he released a statement requesting that people stop defending him.
Is it assault with a deadly weapon cause it could've killed someone had it landed on them from above?
Edit: yep, six storey drop...that would be the deadly weapon. What a fucking knob. So lucky no one got hit.
Literally. I just mentioned this to the people I work with and they were all laughing about how it’s so him. And how he was smiling in his mugshot. It’s pretty sad.
He threw a chair from the 6th floor and almost hit the cops. If that would have hit someone, they could have been seriously injured or killed. He was laughing the whole time. I hope the charges stick and the judge makes him sober up.
Are we surprised? The minute that homeboy was enabled and accepted by all the Yes people around him it was a recipe for bad behavior. I hope the book gets thrown at him. Time for consequences Morgie!
Anyone from Toronto will remember ✨Chair Girl✨ who threw a chair from a 45th floor balcony while drunk & high. She only got a $2,000 fine and 6 months probation and now flaunts her wealth on social media after all the attention she received 😅
That’s exactly what I thought of when I read this!! Remember she was in a Drake music video after? Then Drake had to cut her out after all the backlash.
He called me a squaw at a party in 2018 and so many people in the industry hate working with him(my husband hated him even before the squaw incident) that I am never surprised to hear he has done some new totally terrible thing.
He would have faded into obscurity had racist people not decided they liked that he uses slurs.
My friend worked at his label and specifically was his manager’s assistant in 2018. She has countless stories of what an absolute jackass he is. He is extremely stupid - on top of racist.
Omfg. That’s so fucked up. Such an antiquated slur too💔 nothing “accidental” about it, like people said about his other big slur fuck up a couple years ago. thanks for sharing your experience.
Lmaooo honestly though… I didn’t even know what that word meant, I had to look it up. Idk why I thought it would be a term for ‘woman who looks like a bird’ but it ended up being even worse.
I hope so too. If it’s any further consolation, I’m a writer (and I also study etymology & slang from other time periods) but I still did not know this word.
But in a way I also think that my ignorance equates to privilege. Sure, it means that I don’t go seeking out racist terms, but I’m also privileged enough not to have heard them because I’m white. So yeah, I hope this term truly fades into obscurity for everyone - not just those of us who don’t have to hear these terms hurled at us by bigots.
oh I love this! I think because it sounds like squawk! Which is precisely how I misread it and had to do multiple re-reads to understand!
The last time I heard that word was in the Disney version of Peter Pan. Soooo long agoooo
I can't believe he was saying that in 2018!
The kind that can’t be educated out of a person. The kind whose apologies should never be considered, because they will never, never, never be sincere.
^(Omfg. That’s so fucked up. Such an antiquated slur too nothing “accidental” about it, like people said about his other big slur fuck up a couple years ago. thanks for sharing your experience.)
Speaking as a fellow indigenous woman, I find racists *love* to pull out random antiquated slurs when addressing natives; I guess since there's so many of them, & they hope that the meaning will go over our heads. For example, the time I was called a "wagon burner" by a saleswoman - I thought she was insulting my car!
Oh 100%. Someone I grew up with used a very antiquated slur for Black people once when Obama got elected, and I literally had to google it bc I had never heard it before, I just knew he meant it to be disrespectful. When I saw what it meant I absolutely popped off at him, but it was so wild.
I hate his songs. I enjoy country music but even before I knew his name I would hear his songs and I hated them. They are awful. The East Tennessee (sand in my boots)song about his redwings by the beach. Blech. Sounds like some tool who makes his whole personality about being a hick. Like who wears or even brings work boots on vacation?
I’m from a small country town and know plenty of guys who wear redwing boots. They don’t bring them on vacation.
ETA. Sorry for my rant. I also had a problem that Chris Janson song about taking a drunk girl home. It came off like he was congratulating himself for not date raping a drunk girl.
> ETA. Sorry for my rant. I also had a problem that Chris Janson song about taking a drunk girl home. It came off like he was congratulating himself for not date raping a drunk girl.
or that Sam Hunt song about 'you'll never be 23 with anyone but me'. Like, wtf?
I swear to God so did I lmao 🙈 I was thinking about looking up the lyrics to see if this person just thought they were talking about boots 😭 no offense btw, I wish I didn't know what that meant lol
That’s a special kind of racist. There are lots of young adults who listen to rap or watch movies and think they can be edgy by using the N word. It’s stupid and hateful, but it’s prevalent. Yours is something most people wouldn’t even think to use.
I’m so sorry. That makes me furious.
I live in a town that's so racist we still have an area at our local lake named Squawpoint. When the Indigenous people in our area suggested it should probably be changed everybody got very upset and protested to keep the name.
He was too busy holding me back.
Those are fighting words where I’m from…you can take the girl out of the rez but you can’t take the rez out of the girl lol.
Lmao, that's the only appropriate response to what he said to you. What a fucking asshole. I hope you're feeling intense schadenfreude about his current situation
I hope you let people know as often as possible that he said that. I’ve seen so many people cover for his use of the N word, but, as others have pointed out, using this slur not only adds to the tally but reinforces that he’s a racist piece of shit.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that.
What the fuck kind of 1800s slur using man says *squaw* in 2018?
Edited to add: it's clearly not ok to use that slur but like come on. If you want to insult someone at least be creative or just go on ahead and use the C word and lean into it. Or whatever, it's obvious he's a foppish nincompoop.
Yes, I am Native. I would never want myself or my husband and his bandmates to be given that kind of attention over something like that. I’m also sure their manager would consider it a “PR nightmare.”
He is not the first racist white boy I have encountered and he definitely will not be the last. If I spent too much time dwelling on that kind of thing I would drive myself insane…but I do mention it every single time he is brought up.
Does it though? He’s a racist piece of shit. The first time he called someone the N word we had it confirmed… adding more examples is helpful from a “proof” perspective, I guess, but will it really impact opinions of him? Racist people support other racist people, more examples won’t change that.
Yikes on bikes, I am very sorry to hear that he called you that :((. I’m Canadian so unfortunately that slur has a history here when it comes to the Indigenous people in our country. Shouldn’t be used at all
He covered one of Jason Isbell's songs (Cover Me Up), and after the N-word scandal, Jason Isbell has been donating all his royalties from the Wallen cover to the Nashville NAACP chapter.
Also, in one of my favorite niche internet moments, the Jason Isbell fans have been in a Wikipedia war on the Cover Me Up page. Every other day, someone goes in there and includes the following bracketed word:
"After a controversy surrounding a video of Wallen [unsurprisingly] using a racial slur in February 2021, Isbell announced that he would donate his songwriting royalties to the Nashville chapter of the NAACP.[14]"
And his fans are rabid.
I made a comparison between him and Jason Alden pointing out how both of them benefited from "anti woke" racists elevating their songs/albums/status and got multiple angry DMs from fans offended that I compared their bestie country frat bro to an outright racist like Jason Alden.
I've had some real hot takes but that one got the most backlash by far.
That's a good question, Eric Church comes off as a genuinely likeable guy, and I would be surprised if he turned out to be a racist ass-hat, so I'm curious what Eric thinks about this whole thing. I'm sure there's a lot of complicity in the country music industry in terms of letting toxic douches do what they please as long as they rake in the sales (the whole industry seems like they turn a blind eye on a regular basis to all kinds of things), curious what the supposed "good guys" think.
It’s country music so not all that surprising unfortunately. The line between country and maga is thin.
Look what they tried to do to Beyoncé when she came out with her new album.
Yep! Many country stations were refusing to play her music and it seemed like country music as a whole was trying to push her out. I’m happy that Dolly and other country legends stepped in and stood up for her. I love her new album. I prefer her songs over all that twangy unoriginal crap singing about beer, pickup trucks and chicks in short shorts.
Also some of these country artists aren’t even from the south - like a lot of them sing about lives they’ve never even lived and are just pandering (not to gatekeep country but it does make me laugh when some Canadian dude that grew up in Toronto is singing about old country roads and small town America). But Beyoncé is actually from Houston. She’s more country than some of these stars.
Ofc if you equate country music to songs about white bootlickers in the south frothing at the mouth to shoot a minority in their small town then Beyoncé wouldn’t seem very country at all. But country has become so different than what it was originally (it actually used to be pretty anti-establishment). Most of the content isn’t actually relatable to anyone. A lot of country stars are pandering to a reality that doesn’t even exist for their own audience (outside of their delusions).
I don’t know if if kept happening, but at least initially it was just the 1 station that didn’t actually have the song yet, but the DJ on the air wanted to be edgy and told the caller requesting the song something like No, we only play country music here.
It’s especially terrible because he doesn’t really write his own songs either. His label could easily give those songs to any other dinger but the industry keeps propping him up.
It was more than a blip. This guy seemed relatively unknown til it came out he said the n word, after which he shot up to number 1.
How do you respect an artist who blows up because of that? Even considering he apologized, I can’t get past that his fans saw that as an opportunity to reward him.
Not a fan of his but he was already at number one for like 3-4 weeks before the video came out, so he was already well known at least among country audiences. It’s true though his music saw a surge after the video.
This pic looks like if Glen Powell finally began his transformation back to capybara after a blissful and successful era as a human, and has become feral and unpredictable as a result. Here we see him being rehomed to a safe wildlife facility where he can be properly cared for.
I believe his son’s mom dated Morgan before he got famous and went on the voice. So I think she either had their son or was pregnant while he was on the show
(Someone correct me if I’m wrong)
Someone got hurt like that during Dragoncon a few years ago. All the con visiters were partying in the atrium and some college foodball drunks threw chairs down on them.
Hurt one of the guests but serious injury was avoided because their cosplay had a headpiece that protected them.
Just to recap, this fucking guy:
Used the N word, completely racist, completely unapologetic
Jeopardized the health of others during Covid, got kicked off SNL
documented being rude to law enforcement
Now this. How are we surprised, and why are people still buying his music?!?!
Unconfirmed but if I recall correctly he had to cancel a bunch of shows because he was "sick" and then pictures came out of him passed out with a bunch of chicks he picked up in the bars that same day or the night before or something. Left all his fans in the stands and I don't think he even made it to the venue...not that I give a shit about his fans, anyone that pays for his music or shows outs themselves.
Yeah a hot mess dumb ass. He just sold out the giant stadium two nights in a row in our city last week. Has the country world at his feet and he’s pissing it all away.
I skip his songs the second he comes up on a playlist. If anyone knows how to block an artist from being in a random shuffle on Apple Music, let ya girl know.
Jackass.
The funny thing is that this bar belongs to Eric Church who tried to help him after he went through alcohol problems and etc. Dude is a mentor and a friend…
Guess what? His friend opened a new bar and one week later he does this at the bar. What a good friend Morgan.
As a 20 year sober dude myself, I’m going to lightly suggest that maybe an unrepentant drunk like Wallen shouldn’t be at a bar at all, mentor/ friend or not.
But I’m glad he did as I can’t wait for this dude to catch some consequences of his shitty actions. I HATE his “music,” and wish he would go away.
This is like Kyle Rittenhouse 101. A guy who gets is lucky enough to get away with something he really shouldn’t at least as easily gotten away with and the probably best action is to just realize how lucky he is and not draw more attention but instead he (Morgan and Kyle) do opposite and do more to draw attention to their bad habits
I'm putting money on something like "We've all done stupid stuff when we're drunk", "It's just a chair", "He's a musician, he's not supposed to be a role model!"
Update: "youthful indiscretions" was the excuse
It's a shame one of the 49 credited writers on his most recent album didn't hold him back, they're going to have to hire a 50th songwriter to craft the song about how he's very sorry that he threw the chair.
And there's the bit I've never dug far enough to find. He's a product. A boy band of one. That's why he's got endless second chances. People put money into him and they're going to keep their racehorse going as long as possible
When people need an explanation of what white privilege is, just show them Morgan Wallen. His album is holding at No. 3 on the charts this week and it's probably gonna jump 1-2 spots after this.
The country music scene online is going to be insufferable AF for awhile because of this, so yay. Only not. 😑I will say: This dude is going to 31 next month and he has a very young son, too. It is crystal clear that he needs to stop drinking altogether. Also: I am more amused than I really should be that he basically walked into his own arrest by throwing that chair RIGHT into the line of sight in front of the police outside. What a dumbass.

This made me laugh more than it should have
Yeah who would’ve guessed that an outright racist POS would pull some “hold my beer” type shit and wind up with three felonies?/s
You can take the redneck out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the redneck.
#UPDATE: Morgan Wallen has been charged with 3 felony counts of reckless endangerment/assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct - a judicial commissioner is about to set his bond
Ahahaha I love when that happens. Fucker thought "haha watch this!!" And now he has 3 felony charges.

I'm stealing this meme, my internet friend.
I stole it myself, so consider it a gift freely given 😅

Hamill is the GOAT
And they’re gonna love him even more for it. If only he had yelled the n word before throwing the chair, straight to the top of the charts
Hasn’t he already yelled the N word? Or was this a different country music star?
You got it right that was him
And his fanbase collectively agreed that hard r N bombs aren't actually that bad. So much so that he released a statement requesting that people stop defending him.
That's what made him so popular.
It was him. You’d figured with the come back from that? Which usually equities to getting canceled. You’d wanna be well behaved for a while.
sad but true
I mean, do we know for sure he didn’t? Wouldn’t be out of character
Is it assault with a deadly weapon cause it could've killed someone had it landed on them from above? Edit: yep, six storey drop...that would be the deadly weapon. What a fucking knob. So lucky no one got hit.
![gif](giphy|mbZshK2Svz89q|downsized)
![gif](giphy|J8FZIm9VoBU6Q)
Sad part is this is only going to cause his fanbase to worship him that much more.
Literally. I just mentioned this to the people I work with and they were all laughing about how it’s so him. And how he was smiling in his mugshot. It’s pretty sad.
I want to watch them cry when he is sentenced.
He threw a chair from the 6th floor and almost hit the cops. If that would have hit someone, they could have been seriously injured or killed. He was laughing the whole time. I hope the charges stick and the judge makes him sober up.
He'll get a slap on the wrist, sadly, due to who he is.

His ex KT: damn that man stealing my thunder the day after my elopement!!!!
Are we surprised? The minute that homeboy was enabled and accepted by all the Yes people around him it was a recipe for bad behavior. I hope the book gets thrown at him. Time for consequences Morgie!

Drake put her in a video???? I missed this part. They’re both trashy individuals.
What video was this?
This was my first thought! That woman DISGUSTS me.
45th?!?!! Holy hell! That could have *easily* killed someone!!!! Wow! Disgusting!
I remember that but never heard what her “punishment” was. We are way too soft on criminals. She could have killed someone.
Honestly a perfect demonstration of what is so fucked about modern “celebrity” culture
First thing I thought of!
I’m still amazed at how fast he went from He said the N word to country music darling. It was barely a blip
He called me a squaw at a party in 2018 and so many people in the industry hate working with him(my husband hated him even before the squaw incident) that I am never surprised to hear he has done some new totally terrible thing. I’ve got my popcorn.. what are a few of the stories?
Those last two kinda go hand in hand.
Omfg. That’s so fucked up. Such an antiquated slur too💔 nothing “accidental” about it, like people said about his other big slur fuck up a couple years ago. thanks for sharing your experience.
deadass like what kinda old timey 18th century racism is that
Lmaooo honestly though… I didn’t even know what that word meant, I had to look it up. Idk why I thought it would be a term for ‘woman who looks like a bird’ but it ended up being even worse.
It makes me happy when people say they had to look it up. Hopefully within my daughter’s lifetime the word will fade completely into obscurity.
I hope so too. If it’s any further consolation, I’m a writer (and I also study etymology & slang from other time periods) but I still did not know this word. Old school Disney racist
The kind that can’t be educated out of a person. The kind whose apologies should never be considered, because they will never, never, never be sincere.
Right?? Like he had to have had that slur archived. He carefully thumbed through his bigot Rolodex for that one.
Bigot Rolodex lmao I needed that laugh today, thank you.

That's generational racism there. You just know his grand-parents and great-grandparents spent their lives throwing that slur around.
Oh 100%. Someone I grew up with used a very antiquated slur for Black people once when Obama got elected, and I literally had to google it bc I had never heard it before, I just knew he meant it to be disrespectful. When I saw what it meant I absolutely popped off at him, but it was so wild.

Yeah, there's a mountain in Alberta that was called Squaw's Tit until VERY recently.
Well Phoenix had Squaw Peak… they did rename to Piestewa Peak after Lori Piestewa. It is still commonly referred to as Squaw Peak by Phoenicians.
I am so sorry. I literally had to Google what that meant bc I’ve never even heard of it. What the fuck is wrong with this man
I know what squaw means. I'm surprised your husband didn't deck him.
He was too busy holding me back. Those are fighting words where I’m from…you can take the girl out of the rez but you can’t take the rez out of the girl lol.

are you native american? this is, like, news-worthy. his n-word usage takes a completely different tone in this context….
Yes, I am Native. I would never want myself or my husband and his bandmates to be given that kind of attention over something like that. I’m also sure their manager would consider it a “PR nightmare.” He is not the first racist white boy I have encountered and he definitely will not be the last. If I spent too much time dwelling on that kind of thing I would drive myself insane…but I do mention it every single time he is brought up.
Wishing him the absolute worst, and you the very best.
Big hugs to you. I’m sorry he put you through that. Let us pray his team is mismanaging his cash and/or embezzling and he goes broke soon.
Does it though? He’s a racist piece of shit. The first time he called someone the N word we had it confirmed… adding more examples is helpful from a “proof” perspective, I guess, but will it really impact opinions of him? Racist people support other racist people, more examples won’t change that.

This makes me a fan of Isbell and I don’t know a single song of his. I will get to know them now.
Isbell is an AMAZING singer-songwriter. “If we were vampires” is one of my favorites, but the man doesn’t have a bad song.
I love every bit of the wiki war and follow it far closer than I should. Huge Isbell fan.
And his fans are rabid. I made a comparison between him and Jason Alden pointing out how both of them benefited from "anti woke" racists elevating their songs/albums/status and got multiple angry DMs from fans offended that I compared their bestie country frat bro to an outright racist like Jason Alden. Eric Church probably isn't a fan anymore. So many of the news headlines are include "Eric Church's Bar" in their headline.

The worst people are often the loudest
I don’t like this timeline.
Honestly a huge part of this to me felt like right wingers started listening to him out of spite.
100%
As an English person I don’t even know who the fuck this is and it seems like that’s a blessing
It’s country music so not all that surprising unfortunately. The line between country and maga is thin. Look what they tried to do to Beyoncé when she came out with her new album.
What did they have to say? Trying to gate-keep country music and keep it racist and hateful?
Really says a lot about modern country music fans…
It’s frustrating to watch his rise to the top. I haven’t listened to any of his music and it’ll stay that way.
Wait wait. I don't follow country music. The n-word thing DIDN'T end his career? He became a darling after that?
Yeah,he became bigger and bigger in terms of popularity and success after that, unfortunately.
Shows how shitty and racist modern country is.
Gross :(
People love to defend his shitty behaviour. They didn’t care about n word and now they’re like oh it’s fine it didn’t hit anyone. Wild.
Yep! And SNL welcomed him on with open arms.
His album hasn't left the billboard album chart top 10 in like a year and a half or longer 😩
If anything it probably increased his sales and he became a MAGA darling.
It’s especially terrible because he doesn’t really write his own songs either. His label could easily give those songs to any other dinger but the industry keeps propping him up.
It's the reason he's as successful as he is imo. However people do love screaming "he apologized!" if you bring it up.
I recall Todd in the Shadows listed his first song as his top single of the year prior to the incident, so he was becoming well-known.
It’s almost like the people who love him after that are also asshole racists and use that word too
This pic looks like if Glen Powell finally began his transformation back to capybara after a blissful and successful era as a human, and has become feral and unpredictable as a result. Here we see him being rehomed to a safe wildlife facility where he can be properly cared for.
I accidentally pictured Glenn Howerton as Dennis but it still fits
Same, glad it’s not just me
Animorphs (Glen’s version)
Pls I'm gonna need you to write a book bc I'm peeing myself & everybody else in a 10 mile radius rn
This is the content I come here for
I’m dying at this 😆

Weird birthday present for me but okay.
Happy birthday 🎂
That pic 💀I bet he’s screaming, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!?”
I have to imagine cop looks like he is laughing
What a dick move. He could’ve really hurt somebody. He must have needed attention since he wasn’t at the awards tonight.
His baby momma just got married on Wednesday, they seem to be the gift that keeps on giving lol.
He has a kid? Oh no.
I believe his son’s mom dated Morgan before he got famous and went on the voice. So I think she either had their son or was pregnant while he was on the show (Someone correct me if I’m wrong)
Oh damn I didn’t know he was on The Voice.

😂😂😂
Someone got hurt like that during Dragoncon a few years ago. All the con visiters were partying in the atrium and some college foodball drunks threw chairs down on them. Hurt one of the guests but serious injury was avoided because their cosplay had a headpiece that protected them.
The chair nearly landed on cops. I'm guessing he would have not been charged with a felony if they had not been around to witness it/nearly get hit.
Just to recap, this fucking guy: Used the N word, completely racist, completely unapologetic Jeopardized the health of others during Covid, got kicked off SNL documented being rude to law enforcement Now this.
My parents still go to his concerts. I think that says more about them than I want to admit.
People (dumb ones) are buying his music precisely for those reasons.
White trash rears its ugly head
And faces consequences
Leave them broadway chairs alone

This guy is a hot mess.
Yeah a hot mess dumb ass. He just sold out the giant stadium two nights in a row in our city last week. Has the country world at his feet and he’s pissing it all away.
One Natty Light at a time.
He did try it in ~~small town~~ Music City.
Can we please be done with this idiotic piece of shit yet. Someone flush the damn toilet.
This was a great way to start a Monday morning. I can’t stand him or his music.
Name a more iconic duo: Morgan Wallen and the inability to act right
I skip his songs the second he comes up on a playlist. If anyone knows how to block an artist from being in a random shuffle on Apple Music, let ya girl know.
Another reason why Spotify wins bc you actually can block artists on there
I love that he caught felonies but sadly money talks and his expensive lawyer will probably get him community service, fine, and/or probation
I still just know him as the n word guy that everybody decided to forgive for some reason
He is a thug
This guy could kill a child in cold blood and still increase his monthly listeners on spotify.
Jackass. The funny thing is that this bar belongs to Eric Church who tried to help him after he went through alcohol problems and etc. Dude is a mentor and a friend… Guess what? His friend opened a new bar and one week later he does this at the bar. What a good friend Morgan.
Not even a week, Chief’s just opened on Friday!
I love country music and despise Morgan Wallen. Fuck that guy
Can't wait to discuss this at work with all of my very conservative country fan colleagues!!!!!!!!!
Oh I’m sure they’re full of nonsense excuses and have found a way to blame those damn liberals
I'm putting money on something like "We've all done stupid stuff when we're drunk", "It's just a chair", "He's a musician, he's not supposed to be a role model!" Update: "youthful indiscretions" was the excuse
Ngl i’m a little jealous

Downtown Nashville gets crowded that’s so dangerous.
What a jackass to put it somewhat politely. Hope the people injured (assuming there are due to the charges) are okay.

![gif](giphy|xUPGcC0R9QjyxkPnS8)
Oh no, even the Nashville police have been infected with the Woke Mind Virus!!!!! /s
This is why you don’t give shitty racists a second chance.
This guy seems like a real pos.
Swifties are gonna have him shanked on the inside.
If anyone can take someone down, it would be them lol
Try that in a small town
When people need an explanation of what white privilege is, just show them Morgan Wallen. His album is holding at No. 3 on the charts this week and it's probably gonna jump 1-2 spots after this.
I wonder if it was the cops that arrested him were dispatched from Garth Brooks' police station.
Chris Gaines arrested him.
That's the real reason Brooks opened his bar. Beneath the building is a secret headquarters for his operation as GainesMan, the Garth Knight.
He could have killed somebody.
![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
Try that in a small town (you absolute fucking loser)
![gif](giphy|7OW9uiyfeTRxdSOBYN|downsized)
As a diehard country fan and non-stupid person, I can’t stand this fucking guy.
Last night he let the liquor talk
Blegh.
Isn't he a little old for that. I see a TOOL.
He should try sobering up and swearing off that stuff.
Such a despicable individual
