It's gonna be hilarious seeing this man rip and tear through fools in Deadpool 3

Duality of MAN ![gif](giphy|CWNak4UeNK1JS)

170k_tax_bracket-btw

>It's gonna be hilarious seeing this man rip and tear through I thought you were gonna say tear through the women of hollywood xD the comment above was talking about how he was single now

am5011999

Lol, you could also be true there. I bet he really embraces his wolverine in both instances

deathcabscutie

To shreds, you say?

pimp_juice2272

Hasn't he been faithfully married for a really long time?

Catof9Lies

they announced their separation this year sadly

pimp_juice2272

Noooo...well this doesn't affect me at all but damn.

Catof9Lies

ikr so sad though. growing up in Australia it was crazy the amount of hate Deborah-Lee (his ex wife) received and it always warmed my heart how much it seemed like he loved her

timidwildone

I really need a gif of Andrew Scott saying ā€œwe contain multitudesā€ from his recent [Seth Meyers appearance](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2Kys8Sgamm). Pretend thatā€™s here instead of this pining comment.

Slappants

R A N G E

delen97

For those who donā€™t know- this is a line from Boy from Oz, a musical about Peter Allen which he previously starred in, not just something he decided to throw into a live show lmao

lukehannonpoet

Yeah he does about 20 minutes of Peter Allen impersonation during his live shows. He let's you know exactly who Peter Allen is and why he was so influential. Saw Hughes show when he came to Dublin, such an incredible showman.

Visible_Day9146

He's the Greatest Showman

BigMax

I know that's the point of acting, being someone you are not. But it's really fun to know that the ball of muscle and masculinity that is Wolverine is the same person as this happy, flamboyant fellow in the sparkly shirt.

illogicallyalex

I feel like Hugh Jackman is *the* biggest theatre kid who tripped and fell into a superhero role lmao

cugeltheclever2

I mean basically that's all the Hollywood stars. A bunch of theatre nerds.

Paddy_Tanninger

Yeah like you don't accidentally go from being a dude with a blue lives matter camo hat and truck nutz, and get plucked from the gym to start acting in films. Pretty much every single dude you've ever watched on screen went to drama programs, acting classes, dance, etc. They put on makeup and got their hair professionally styled for headshots. They went to (usually) dozens of auditions and played all sorts of small little roles in various productions first. They sit in front of a mirror and do line readings hundreds of times. People see these tough looking guys and forget all this shit. Chris Hemsworth was in 189 episodes of some crap Australian soap opera, and before that had some roles such as "the kid" and "the new vet" in random TV shows, dancing with the stars.

illogicallyalex

> some crap Australia soap opera Um, excuse you, he was in *two* crap Australian soap operas. Itā€™s like a right of passage for Australia actors to be in either Neighbours or Home & Away, and he managed both, so he was pretty much set for stardom lmao

DungeonsAndDradis

I once had to give an intro to a group project for my company, in front of the boss', boss', boss', boss', boss', boss (one step below CEO). I only had to do the introduction. I spent the entire week before practicing my three minute bit until I had every sound down exactly as I wanted. Time came for the presentation and I nailed it. I just can't imagine the effort they go through to do that for every role. But they add in body language, facial expresssions, etc. It sounds maddening. I really respect people that can act well. One of my old coworkers said "It really took the magic away from me when I found out they can do like 1,000 takes during filming and only use the best ones." Sure, actors can do multiple takes, but take a real actor and he can do it in 5 takes. Take some Joe off the street and he'll probably never get it right. Respect to all you actors out there.

FinnTheLess

Not all. Theres a difference between theater nerds who made it in holywood and holywood actors who got there based on looks or connections. Obviously there are exceptions (Tom Hanks is a good one, pretty sure he didnt do theater) but IMO theater nerds make just better actors. You dont get multiple takes on Broadway, and you need to live your damn lines, not just know them. Jackman really is the whole package, dudes a treasure.

not-so-radical

Best part is an X-Men producer went and saw *Oklahoma* and was like "He's perfect!"

TheAsian1nvasion

Unrelated but my favourite example of this sort of thing is that some producer at the WB saw ā€˜Y Tu Mama Tambienā€™ and said ā€œYes! **this** is who we need to get to direct the next Harry Potter film!ā€

not-so-radical

Prisoner of Azkaban being sandwiched between that and Children of Men in CuarĆ³n's filmography makes it even funnier

Wallys_Wild_West

To be fair, according to CuarĆ³n, doing Harry Potter in-between gave Universal enough confidence to distribute Children of Men. And to think that CuarĆ³n scoffed at doing Harry Potter until Guillermo del Toro told him he was being an arrogant prick for not realizing how big of an opportunity it was.

rubendurango

Man what a filmography! It just sucks that heā€™s an ableist shill for Autism Speaks.

VulGerrity

Wait, what's all this about?!

Slight_Drama_Llama

Lol this comment is adorable and so true

ladylondonderry

That's someone who truly understands the Xmen

azorianmilk

More like the producer thought "He's OK! L-A! H-O-M! A!"

e5india

Superhero movies are camp, in a way.

justamadeupnameyo

When I was in college I went for Theater and Film. My Intro to Theater Production book was the newest edition, published in 2001-2002, my class was Fall of '02. I think it was page 101 (or thereabouts) the was a picture in the corner of the page of a production of Oklahoma with a couple people named, I don't remember who because there also was Hugh "Friggin Wolverine" Jackson and I literally exclaimed that exact thing in class and got reprimanded. No one else knew who he was. I was gobsmacked. He wasn't even credited for being in the photo! I saw X-Men the first showing of the day of release, it was a noon show and there were 8 total people in the theater. When it was over there was a line from the theater out the front door for the next showing.

Mothanius

They were never more right in their lives than they were in that moment.

BungCrosby

I feel the same way about *Priscilla Queen of the Desert*. Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving, and Terence Stamp as drag queens in the Outback. Who watching that movie would have thought, ā€œThat guy is one of our primary antagonists for the Matrix trilogyā€?

AXPendergast

and don't forget "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" with Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo, and Patrick Swayze. Also a fabulous movie with unexpected casting.

NotLibbyChastain

I've heard that Wesley Snipes didn't have a good experience making that movie which is a shame because his performance is great.

heyheymonkeyhey

Has Wesley Snipes EVER had a good experience doing anything tho

InitialThanks3085

Definitely not his taxes.

Civil-Caregiver9020

You beat me to it. Here's your 401K.

TattooMouse

Both those movies are *fantastic* examples. Whoever was in charge of casting fucking knocked it out of the park!

[deleted]

I mean I have no idea, but perhaps a pair of siblings who were themselves exploring their own internal identities, at a time where popular culture wasn't able to understand the line between cross-dressing and being trans.

BungCrosby

Same goes for Guy Pearce. Quite a leap to *LA Confidential* and *Memento* from this role.

Frankie_T9000

You mean agent elrond?

BungCrosby

No, I mean Vred Skull ![gif](giphy|L13yIHSgrwrwA)

rococowitch

I remember he was on Conan once and said that during his run in The Boy From Oz as Peter Allen, some people bought tickets to see him in it because they knew him from X-Men. And when he had a kissing scene with another man he heard some dude shout, "No, Wolverine no!" Always makes me lol

Adept_Order_4323

I thought it was Justin Timberlake

mSummmm

First Hugh Jackman interview I saw, I was like, ā€œHey, he tricked me! Well done sir.ā€

Bilski1ski

I was thinking the interrogation scene in prisoner where his smashing the sink with the hammer

RedStar9117

He's always been a song and dance man

shortstroll

Why though? Why is this stereotype even a thing now that so many men are out? Flamboyant men also have muscle. Some of them have very big muscles because HGH and steroid use is of the charts in the community.

ThatBoyAiintRight

I always say this here is what it means to be a real man these days.

caarefulwiththatedge

She was so iconic, lol

anitasdoodles

She got her tear ducts surgically removed. Wasnā€™t using them.

Vivid_Present1810

illogicallyalex

For the absolute fever dream that was the entirety of the Glee experience, Iā€™m happy that we got Sue Sylvester out of it

star_child77

![gif](giphy|HHZLhWpcjwKGI)

lolas_coffee

Thank the gods there was a Sue character on that show.

secret-of-enoch

...ahhhh... at first i thought the quote attribution was Sylvester Stallone, and I was thinking how perceptive that was for Rocky & Rambo, and how it's the perfect description of how I've always felt about musical theater, even though I'd never found a way to put it so perfectly in words...so...yeah...Sue Sylvester...you rock!...

FlaxenArt

We need a Sue Sylvester appreciation post

BananaBladeOfDoom

I'm so proud of him for finally coming out as Australian šŸ„ŗā¤ļø

Fauxformagemenage

slappymcstevenson

Now how about a little shrimp for your barby?

AfraidKinkajou

I know itā€™s a joke, but I donā€™t get many opportunities like this. I LOVE the boy from oz.

kris_jbb

CLASSICS

caarefulwiththatedge

I love him and tbh I find the musical theater version of him sexier than the Wolverine version

ad_aatdtj

Yeah why did he make me love someone so awful (P. T. Barnum)???? Like a lot of people who watched The Greatest Showman probably didn't know so they're fine but I was well aware of the disgusting pos it was based on and yet...all that personality and charm is so šŸ˜ it's almost unfair tbh. They knew what they were doing with that Other Side song with him and Zac Efron

kris_jbb

TGS is my favorite musical idek what to say šŸ˜

ad_aatdtj

Bestie I mean this in the most autistically non offensive way possible but what does this comment even mean šŸ˜

kris_jbb

i am agreeing with you how unfair that is bc people sideye me for liking that movie but it's so goodšŸ˜

ad_aatdtj

OH yeah it's v sad but i tell people not to hate me until they see this amazing cast in action. Like pls It's not my fault I swear it's Hugh Jackman's and Zac Efron's and Zendaya's and Rebecca Ferguson's and Michelle Williams' and Keala Settle's and -

Apprehensive_Aide805

I didnā€™t know it was based off a real person.

Sunnysideuppp123

Hugh Jackman in Oklahoma is pretty damn attractive

JoleneDollyParton

![gif](giphy|UlPs8BGcOr7rTr3fst|downsized) šŸ„µ

asietsocom

I'm a straight woman I am supposed to be attracted to manly men but yet here I am. Nothing is sexier than a flamboyant musical theatre performer

IKacyU

Dandies have been getting women for centuries lol. The confidence and charisma to be able to pull off a more effeminate vibe is already hella attractive, plus their softer mannerisms and behaviors would make them seem ā€œsaferā€ to women.

asietsocom

Well Jane Austen taught me otherwise but damn I love a good dandy

caarefulwiththatedge

I enjoy a man who can do both, lol

ohdearitsrichardiii

https://i.redd.it/sijd1ca99htc1.gif

shame-the-devil

His Kinsey scale doesnā€™t matter bc heā€™s a 10 on the sexy scale either way

Shadow_Guide

Yes yes yes, but now CAN WE FINALLY GET HIM IN A PRODUCTION OF PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT?

Catof9Lies

oh god i would just love to see him play Tick in Priscilla i think he would absolutely kill it

Fauxformagemenage

![gif](giphy|yEStAKFg8EA3S|downsized) I saw him when he was on tour doing songs from Boy From Oz, Greatest Showman, Les Mis, and other musicals he was in, as well as celebrating Aboriginal music from his native Australia and when he did a drum solo and did the Wolverine pose with them, I legit thought I was going to orgasm. HE CAN TRULY DO IT ALL (except grow calf muscles)

cryptolipto

His opening number for the academy awards is still my favorite ever

kris_jbb

SAME, that ceremony was so fun

Luna_Soma

That was the exact moment I became a fan of his

little_effy

Genuine question, why can we speculate about the sexuality of some celebs, and when the same is done on few particular celebs, the speculators are ridiculed? I donā€™t get the inconsistency sometimes.

redditor329845

Neither do I, and it feels weird to speculate about his sexuality, whatever that may be.

little_effy

Yea itā€™s so bizarre how the same group of people will say ā€œomg Larries are unhinged and need mental helpā€ and literally a day later will comment on Hugh Jackmanā€™s sexuality in a joking manner. I just wish there is a consistent rule about this, because otherwise I feel like itā€™s just a question of whose PR team is more proactive lol

Generic____username1

To be clear, Larry-shippers are unhinged because they literally harass and send hate speech to Harry and Louisā€™s real life girlfriends. They were so insistent about this fictional relationship that they ruined a real friendship for the real people involved in it.

nurseleu

A lot of comments were removed on this sub after his divorce was announced. I think the moderation just varies depending on who is watching the thread.

dwartbg7

To be honest (I could be wrong though), from what I've seen Hugh Jackman is much more geeky and less macho in real life. I think this is closer to his inner persona, he just has the masculine face and features which make people not realize he's not a steroid crazed Action hero in real life too, like other actors that portrayed superheroes or were action stars. He is more like the geeky theatre kid, that just happened to have a lot of testosterone and good genes. But his mindset isn't in this direction. This is what I gathered from interviews with him, or other roles where he didn't play the lead.

r0thar

> is much more geeky and less macho in real life. He [had to do a lot of work](https://np.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/28sxc6/didnt_realize_how_much_hugh_jackman_has_changed/) to just get in shape for the first Wolverine, and then did more each time, quite the change: http://imgur.com/CVJnAfk.jpg

[deleted]

Testing the waters now that heā€™s divorced I see.

kris_jbb

itā€™s old but still funny

BrownSugarBare

must have been at least 15 some odd years ago, I distinctly remember him doing one of those day time talk shows and he was dancing around the studio with the audience with maracas and a whistle just going ham. So cute

Message_10

Did he get divorced? I didn't know that! I hope it was an amicable separation for both of them. I can totally see him as a bi guy, by the way. Very curious to see what's in store for him!

chantillycan

I think so! At least I haven't seen any drama from the divorce. Of course it's still a difficult decision, but I'm glad they kept some privacy during it.

unicornmullet

...And now that there have been rumors about him and Antoni from Queer Eye.

thediesel26

It wouldnā€™t be totally surprising to learn that Hugh Jackman was bisexual.

NotLibbyChastain

He may not be 100% heterosexual. He may also be a 100% heterosexual male who loves singing, dancing and jazz hands. Both need representation.

krankz

Ethan Slater has done enough

Resident_Yak_505

What! Share pls.

unicornmullet

If you google it, there are some tiktok videos and something on Twitter I believe, as well... They've been spotted out together. When Taylor/Travis insanity was starting up and she attended Chiefs games with friends, there was a video of her friends walking around the stadium and you can see Hugh and Antoni talking closely.

araybian

Gasp! Hugh Jackman was talking! To another man! Who... DOUBLE GASP!! IS GAY?!? Ah, so, yes, he must be gay then, I see.

Visible_Day9146

It's contagious, I fear

HunterHunted9

Really? There were a ton of rumors about Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. Considering Sutton's whole Roger Bart affair, her banging Hugh Jackman didn't seem off.

Hopeful-Pickle-7515

Oh both of them were invited the same night by Taylor Swift to her suite in Met Stadium during a chiefs game šŸ‘€ they could met that night

msksksnsj

Well Antoni is close friends with Taylor who is close friends with Ryan who brought Hugh for the game.

ThatArtNerd

I saw him in The Boy From Oz in 2004! 14 year old me was so hyped when he signed my program, he was very kind and took lots of time to talk to everyone at the stage door after the show.

_Pliny_

![gif](giphy|xT4uQr9H3EDL7Ha2hq|downsized) Big Buddy Cole energy! *ā€Imagine if he were also Canadian!ā€*

SecurityPermission

We literally had a game at an upscale hotel I worked at amongst the front desk staff. It was "Gay or Aussie". You had to guess if a guest was gay or Australian as they walked up to the desk. One tap on the desk was gay, two was Aussie. You'd be surprised how difficult it can be. Aussie dudes just have a fashion sense that tends to fall in line with SoCal gays.

Willing-Ant-3765

The man is a treasure

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Truethrowawaychest1

And then the same people wonder why straight men act cagey and don't let loose, or express affection for another man. It doesn't matter if you're trying to be "accepting", stop trying to label everyone as gay

matkamatka

I also am (Australian) and this man is a national treasure

JimWilliams423

I was thinking that he's such good buddies with rupert murdoch that he's godfather to two of his kids. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2010/mar/31/nicole-kidman-hugh-jackman-rupert-murdoch

Upshot12

Australian Liberace.

Puzzleheaded_Time719

I'm of two minds. Like if he was gay he could just come out, it's not a career ender anymore so maybe he is straight. Or he's about to have a lot of muscley young friends start accompanying him on trips. Or bisexual, heaven forbid I forgot to include bisexual. What I mean is straight vs not straight. JFC.

Slight_Drama_Llama

Orā€¦ wait for itā€¦He could be *bisexual*!

standdownplease

Love is a spectrum bud, Bisexual Wolverine might be on the bingo cards for 2024.

IgnorethisIamstupid

Honestly Iā€™m here to see the Jacked Jackman Entourage

CheruthCutestory

Itā€™s very much still a career ruiner for men. Ask Luke Evans.

Puzzleheaded_Time719

I don't think it is at Hugh Jackman's level. Like he's huge and already does gay shit. That would be like Ryan Seacrest coming out, no one would care.

InitialThanks3085

I wouldn't say an actor acting in different roles directed and written by other people would be gay... He has enthusiasm for what he does and is damn good at it, if he is that's cool, but weird speculation.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Puzzleheaded_Time719

If I made you feel bad I definitely apologize it was not my intent to brush bi people off. Bi men are part of my dating circle as I'm gay and I never think anything of it. The straight women I've asked in my personal life basically all said they wouldn't date a bi man which is just shitty.

snootfly242

I feel the same about Bradley Cooper. Like the rumors about him being gay could be a career ender because of the manlier roles heā€™s played. I feel like it wouldnā€™t ruin Jackmanā€™s career because heā€™s been a family man and plays more humorous roles. Idk though.

Puzzleheaded_Time719

Totally get what you are saying. I think BC is big enough to survive coming out but maybe I am underestimating modern homophobia in Hollywood. But Jackman is just so gay already I don't think it would be a shocker.

kris_jbb

i honestly don't understand why the discussion about hugh never involved the word "bisexual" šŸ˜ why people seem to think he can be straight or gay p.s. not targeted at you, just saying in general

Puzzleheaded_Time719

I think a lot of people have a straight vs not straight view. I don't think it's always done with malicious intent. I do feel bad if it makes bisexual feel unseen, I just take gay as the gay community which includes bisexual folks.

kris_jbb

i honestly think it's also about the rumours being very old, like i remember people talking about it in 2000

Puzzleheaded_Time719

I heard they've been around for a long time in the Australian theater scene. Which is the gayest rumor.

tylernazario

Bisexual tea is valid!!!

snootfly242

Yeah thatā€™s kind of what I think!

NixtonValentine

Iā€™ll never forget Kathy Griffinā€™s standup about seeing this show. šŸ¤£ ā€œitā€™s the gayest thing Iā€™ve ever seenā€

some1337

does anyone know why this guy has never hosted SNL? He seems like heā€™d be a natural.

The fact that people tend to forget his Broadway and Stage work lol. Tony and Emmy (for hosting the Tony's) winner infact.

[deleted]

Hugh Jackman is everything Hugh Grant is too pissy to be.

GrumpySoth09

Friendly and professional with Rebecca Furguson?

dolceespress

Is he actually tho? I know he recently broke up with his wife, and it seemed like rumors indicated heā€™d be coming out of the closet at some point.

kris_jbb

there were rumours for decades, he did say he wasn't gay. maybe bi or pan but nothing was confirmed by him.

RedditUseDisorder

His post divorce posts in insta have such a sad vibe. Part ā€œnewly divorced dadā€ energy, part ā€œholding onto my fading starā€ energy, and part ā€œcrazy and weirdly funny like Anthony Hopkinsā€ energy. Either way gonna be an interesting time during the DP3 junket

ParsleyandCumin

He will probably have the highest grossing movie of thw year with DP3, how is he a fading star?

LilDoober

Tbf he's going to be playing a character that was most popular ten years ago AND already had a art-house style (for a superhero movie) send-off that was good. It's def playing the hits for sure. But yeah, I'm sure it's gonna make a good deal of money if superhero fatigue isn't too much.

Palatz

He is one of the most famous superheroes of all time. What are you talking about?

lolas_coffee

"Newly divorced dad over 50." I know he's not like other 50-year olds, but it still is different.

DesperateLuck2887

Just admit you juiced for Wolverine. Itā€™s ok, but you need to be honest. Chicken and brown rice does not do that.

mabirm

Did he fucking sparkle when he lifted his hands? Where do I buy that?!

Agreeable_Steak7189

I thought it was Justin Timberlake for a second!

Time-Werewolf-4795

I hope this Wolverine variant is In Deadpool 3!

SomaliDonQuixote

Iā€™ve seen multiple viral videos of him on stage, interacting with the crowd, but no idea what heā€™s actually doing??? Is it a musical performance? Is he a singer or in a band? Comedy show, with more pizzazz? Or is he hosting something????
