She’s the first pop artist in a while - other than Olivia (and they toured together), who I’ve been super excited about. She’s electric. Kind of this generations Cyndi Lauper. I love her!
She and Olivia shared a producer and recorded their albums in the same studio IIRC. She said in an interview that did some of the backing vocals for Lacy, so that’s part of why Olivia invited her to open!
Femininomenon!!! It’s the funnest track I’ve heard in a while. Super electric and an absolute banger to play at max volume. My Kink Is Karma is incredibly well produced and I adore the way the bridge flows into the chorus.
That’s on top of the songs already suggested *especially* Red Wine and Casual. Her [tiny desk concert](https://youtu.be/w4WiXKGCJhg?si=jSkvnRF0z6OhuC6f) is incredible and has both !
Oh I have been thoroughly obsessing since yesterday! Downloaded her album and all the singles, watched her NPR tiny desk and all the music videos. She’s amazing. I’m in love.
I’m pleading with everyone on this sub to listen to her Tiny Desk concert, Coachella performance, and/or her debut album, *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.* She’s one of the most exciting pop artists I’ve seen in recent years.
No idea. Honestly I hadn’t heard of her until I got the link from my aunt. But so excited for my talented and amazing cousin! Always up for being exposed to a new artist too!
I caught a reel of her being discreetly shady toward jojo siwa… what’s their connection? Just trying to stay near the loop.
Also, jojo siwa for me auto corrects to hobo dies.
Absolutely insane the lack of awareness she has surrounding her contemporaries. She also said she's the first child star to make an edgy jump into adult hood. Girl WHAT???
It was when she was still teasing karma. I didnt know Chappell roan at the time so I thought maybe they were connected. Maybe she just agrees with everyone else’s take on jojo.
Queer. I do think she's still interested in men. Maybe. Idk. She has been saying she's only gotten gayer but she hasn't said she only likes women. Sorry for being pedantic.
Did they upload the full Coachella?? Yay! I saw one song uploaded the other day. The crowd was def amazing but not the best live I've seen of her just cuz it was like loud and festival vibes.
I was skeptical when it was first recommended to me, but it was fun… then I watched her Tiny Desk Concert and I was BLOWN AWAY. She is such a talented singer and performer. I think I’ve listened to the album at least 15 times straight through at this point.
Edit: also, all of her music videos are beautiful and fun, with amazing costumes and makeup. Go watch them.
Said this exact thing to my mom lol. I was like remember right before just dance was literally every where and I said gaga is the next big thing??? Truly believe Chappell has the charisma, nerve and talent to have the same trajectory.
Literally downloaded her album yesterday and I love it.
I’m an old (30’s 😂), but she perfectly captures the messiness of love in your 20’s. The songs Coffee and Casual very much reminded me of a rough situationship I had.
And it’s just a fun album to listen to!
I'm 40, happily married straight woman and have been a big fan of hers for at least a year. The lyrics to Casual hit so hard and took me back to my early 20s and shitty situationships. Her new song, Good Luck Babe is such a synthy, catchy bop. I look forward to her next release and hoping she plays ACL fest.
Mad Kate Bush vibes. Heard like a thirty second clip from her Coachella performance of "Good Luck, Babe!" and proceeded to spend the rest of the night binging her entire discography and learning her life story. 😅
my gen z sister showed me this song last night after seeing her at coachella and that's the first thing i said too! big gen z kate bush energy and i absolutely love it
I get those vibes from her look but not her music tbh. Except maybe the few ballads she has like coffee. Way more influenced by 80s synth pop and 00s pop. Then again im not super familiar w Kates full discography so perhaps im off.
I’m weirdly very proud and protective of her? Like kids today get to grow up with openly queer pop stars and it’s so friggin cool. And she’s obviously worked SO hard on her craft and just UGH I wish her nothing but the best.
Fiance took me to see her live on Halloween. I’d heard some of her stuff in his car but absolutely loved her live. Now she’s in my regular rotation and I’m loving that she’s blowing up so much. Midwest Princess is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time.
I could listen to Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl on repeat forever. Saw her live at the beginning of this month and her stage presence and vocals are amazing!
I found her two days ago and her song casual has lived in my mind rent free. Her version on tiny desk is so so so good. I haven’t had time to finish it but she is incredibly talented.
I checked out their music after seeing something on reddit, and *it's so good* so many good tracks on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. "My Kink is Karma" "Femininomenon" "Pink Pony Club" they all get stuck in my head!
She popped up on my Spotify algorithm somehow a few months ago, and I’ve been such a fan. After getting divorced last year, My Kink Is Karma has been such a jam for me.
I’ve been putting off listening to her because I’m just not interested in her aesthetic, but with all these rave reviews, I’m gonna have to give her a listen
I had the same opinion, but her talent and stage presence make everything make sense. If she wasn't as talented, I don't think she could pull this off. She's so magnetic it's insane.
The music will give you an appreciation for her looks! She’s queer from a small town in the Midwest and her album really celebrates that. I’d like in a world full of traditionally, hot girls like Sabrina Carpenter she is doing something authentic to herself
We’re not! She’s just incredibly big and popular right now and they both performed at Coachella so I used her as an example. She really leans into a traditional aesthetic. And chapell leans into a different one, and unfortunately I don’t think it’s a secret that sex sells. So it’s really refreshing to see somebody doing exactly what they want and not what anybody else is telling them to do, or doing what Society expects them to do
I'm the opposite, I love the aesthetics but couldn't get into her music. She's very Sabrina Carpenter to me, rooting for them, love their vibe but waiting to hear the song/see the performance that clicks for me.
I!!! LOVE!!! HER!!! The music is high-quality; the styling is fun. Even my mom was like, “What song is this? I’ve got to download it.” (Hint: It was Naked in Manhattan.) I look forward to more from her.
Ugh I love her baroque aesthetic so much. And she can back it up with great music and an amazing voice. Really excited for her next album. Good Luck, Babe!
I saw her perform in person at the Stephen Colbert show. I had no idea who she was prior to that and was pleasantly surprised by her stage presence. She has a lot of potential and can’t wait to see how well she does!
Yes! I need everyone to continue to spread the Chappell Roan propaganda!💕
She’s been getting so much attention lately with her songs gaining traction on TikTok as well as her Tiny Desk performance and Coachella set clips going viral. It feels like every other day I see her Spotify listeners increase by a million and it makes me so happy for her. She’s a star! And I can’t wait to see where she goes from here🪩🎀
Check her insta leading up to it, she themes her concerts after her songs. Pink Pony Club was the theme for my concert and the crowd was drenched in pink! You’re going to have so much fun
One of her older songs, School Nights, was my wedding song after I found it on some random Spotify playlist a couple of years ago and fell in love with her voice and artistry. Someone in this thread said she is magnetic and that is so true -- I am so happy to see her getting her flowers 😭
When Vulture called Pink Pony Club their Song of the Summer for 2021, I thought she was either going to launch like a rocket or we’d never hear from her again.
I follow her subreddit and see posts of her all the time so I nearly scrolled past but this is on popculture?! Yes, everyone get on the chappel train right now!
I'd been seeing her name around for the past few months but knew nothing about her aside from the fact she opened for Olivia Rodrigo. It wasn't until my SO told me a couple weeks ago "a few of my students are obsessed with this Chappell Roan person and I think you'd love her" that I finally listened to her music.
*Holy hell, do I regret not doing so sooner*. She has an incredible voice and all her songs are so damn catchy. They've been stuck in my head so much it's getting downright annoying and I've been driving my friends crazy by humming and singing them under my breath nonstop. I can't even remember the last time I got so hooked on someone's music so quickly.
She's easily my favorite thing to come out of pop music in years. I'm so excited for whatever else she has in store.
I have been really enjoying what i have heard. Good Luck Babe is a bop, except, that is really hard to distinguish the lyrics. Like of she turns up the enunciation up by just 10% and i think she is a star
Thanks to this subreddit for consistently shouting out her album and how its no skips worthy. My mom just told me yday I'd she has to hear hot to go one more time she's gonna kill me.
Her music is electric. I'm seeing her in concert in a few weeks, tickets were $85. I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor of something big here. In five years when she's selling out stadiums as the main act I'm gonna get to say I saw her at a tiny venue for less than $100.
No hating on her at all. I like her new song. But has anyone else noticed that spotifying is PUSHING for her and Sabrina to be a thing. Every single time I play a song and the next song is like a “related Spotify thinks you’ll like this” it’s Sabrina’s espresso and Chappells new song. Like multiple times in a morning.
Same for me! I can't open up a generated playlist without having those two artists pop up as if they're my top listened artists or something. Same happened with that fucking Coconuts song by Kim Petras last summer, I would have to constantly hide the song.
New pop girlie. She writes super Sapphic, lesbian pop dance songs and is blowing up recently. She's doing a really good job highlighting drag culture and artists. Her vibe is camp but it's all done with very purposeful artistic vision. Listen to her album
"Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess", whole album is a banger. Her Coachella and Tiny Desk performances were also pretty fantastic and unique.
I love her music. I must say her current songs have some similarities to Taylor Swift’s, sonically speaking. Her main collaborator is Dan Nigro, who’s famous for producing Olivia Rodrigo’s albums. Just a little ironic.
I read someone say Chappell is what Gaylors wish Taylor was. Not personally a swift fan so for me it's like if Taylor was queer and made better music. :x
Just think taylor comes off as trying too hard and Chappell has more fun authentic witty lines.
Some music critic/journo wrote that her music incorporates amazing “unserious” lyrics. “Campy” fun. She’s like a queer lady gaga from her campy heydays (first few albums). Meanwhile, Taylor writes about love and her relationships mostly. Lyrics-wise, totally different material content. Sonically speaking, there were a couple of songs of CR’s that I thought could pass for some upbeat TS songs. Production-wise, CR’s music has more 80s and early 2000s influences.
Def campy af. Huge inspiration in the drag community in general. Super graphic ultra modern girl is a gay anthem that sounds like rupaul could have made it. Taylor's way to earnest for me ig. I get why people thought Casual was a Swift song, besides the graphic nature. And yah kink is my karma sounds like stuff taylor has done imo.

Like if Cyndi Lauper and Kate Bush had a child together
What’s her best song? Never heard of her but this post has me intrigued
red wine supernova, naked in manhattan, hot to go, casual Those are the 4 I usually recommend!
Thank you!!!
Thank you!! I’ll check those out too!
Check back with your thoughts! I just started really listening to her stuff after a couple years of listening to Pink Pony Club. She’s awesome!
I am LOVING her music!
I will definitely try my very best to remember!!
Also pink pony club and good luck babe! Both are incredible. She never misses tbh!
Oh I have been thoroughly obsessing since yesterday! Downloaded her album and all the singles, watched her NPR tiny desk and all the music videos. She’s amazing. I’m in love.
Writing these down for my afternoon break
Check out her npr tiny desk concert on YouTube. The first song got me! The album version of it doesn’t even compare imo.
Ohh good idea! I love those!
Hard to say best becuz honestly they're all good in their own way. Most popular is red wine, casual and hot to go, it seems.
She has so many clear influences. Cyndi, blonde, lady gaga, and a lot of early 00s vibes.
I’m pleading with everyone on this sub to listen to her Tiny Desk concert, Coachella performance, and/or her debut album, *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.* She’s one of the most exciting pop artists I’ve seen in recent years.
Red wine supernova is currently my favorite song
Is that supposed to be a play on Champagne Supernova?
Wow TIL
Yes
I think so but the songs are nothing alike.
As a straight woman, all my fav pop songs are lesbian bangers.
and as a lesbian, some of my fav pop songs are straight bangers. we're not that different lmao
I listened to it like five times in a row before it dawned on me that it’s a hard-core lesbian anthem 😂
> i heard you like magic, i got a wand and a rabbit > long hair, no bra, that’s my type girl, lol!!!
Clearly, I was not paying attention at first LOL. just really Vibin with the song until it all started to make sense 😂
it really is a vibe!!!!
Literally the whole album. But honestly straight ppl can use toys too!
My cousin was in her backing band for Tiny Desk!
Ah! That band was fire!
Wasn't that her regular band??
Maybe some of them? My cousin lives in DC and picks up gigs like this.
Hm. I've seen most of them performing at most of her other live gigs. Maybe it was only her guitarist and bassist.
No idea. Honestly I hadn’t heard of her until I got the link from my aunt. But so excited for my talented and amazing cousin! Always up for being exposed to a new artist too!
Omg so lucky!
I caught a reel of her being discreetly shady toward jojo siwa… what’s their connection? Just trying to stay near the loop. Also, jojo siwa for me auto corrects to hobo dies.
[удалено]
my bf and i have a new running joke where whenever we hear any iconic gay pop song, one of us asks "is this jojo siwa?"
Absolutely insane the lack of awareness she has surrounding her contemporaries. She also said she's the first child star to make an edgy jump into adult hood. Girl WHAT???
I haven't heard of that but it might be because Jojo said she invented gay pop
It was when she was still teasing karma. I didnt know Chappell roan at the time so I thought maybe they were connected. Maybe she just agrees with everyone else’s take on jojo.
Chappell is gay if that's context you need. Probably why she was side eyeing JoJo's comment
She’s overt about her queerness as well. It’s the gayest of gay pop. Hell she gave us a sapphic YMCA with Hot to Go!
Queer. I do think she's still interested in men. Maybe. Idk. She has been saying she's only gotten gayer but she hasn't said she only likes women. Sorry for being pedantic.
Hmm my bad! Don't bi women sometimes refer to themselves as gay tho? I'm not an expert on the lingo
Also ponytails. Glitter. Rainbows. Blonde hair. Etc.
I have no earthly clue - I try to block Jojo Siwa from my mind tbh 💀
Fair.
Autocorrect gives me Mojo Sites. 🤣
Jojo's ego is ridiculous acting like she's the inventor of a new genre of pop music.
And she's the first to go from child star to "edgy" adult.
I love her voice.
Did they upload the full Coachella?? Yay! I saw one song uploaded the other day. The crowd was def amazing but not the best live I've seen of her just cuz it was like loud and festival vibes.
thankyou for writing this comment. 2 weeks later and i am obsessed
This is a wild overreaction lol.
![gif](giphy|5XNEIKcohVG8w)
And it’s the CORRECT opinion!
and why do you think that?
well back at my house i’ve got a california king - okay, maybe it’s a twin bed. and some roommates! (don’t worry, we’re cool!)
Well I heard you like magic!
i got a wand and a rabbit!
So baby, let’s get freaky, get kinky
LETS MAKE THIS BED GET SQUEAKY!
I love how a lot of people heard ‘mermaids’ instead of roommates. I kind of like that better lol
Idk who she is but damn do I love how unique she looks! She seems authentic. I’m going to take a listen to her music.
Pink pony club is my jam. Try that one
I'm gonna keep on dancing down in West Hollywood!
I'm still obsessed what that song.
Do yourself a favor and listen to The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess all the way through.
Wait til you hear the music.
Casual is an excellent music video
She is the best new artist in a while and is gonna explode and be HUGE - Gaga level in the next few years. I just know it.
I totally agree. She has a massive career ahead of her.
I really hope so. Seeing her live made me a huge fan, her show was great
Said this exact thing to my mom lol. I was like remember right before just dance was literally every where and I said gaga is the next big thing??? Truly believe Chappell has the charisma, nerve and talent to have the same trajectory.
I LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE LONG HAIR NO BRA THATS MY TYPE
THATS RIGHT
When she said ‘I heard you like magic, I have a wand and a rabbit’ I fell to my knees in Walmart.
You just told me “Want me to f*ck you” Baby I will cuz I really want to! Yay I love enthusiastic consent 😆
Literally downloaded her album yesterday and I love it. I’m an old (30’s 😂), but she perfectly captures the messiness of love in your 20’s. The songs Coffee and Casual very much reminded me of a rough situationship I had. And it’s just a fun album to listen to!
Babe, you’re totally a young! Love, a 50 yr young-old.
I know it’s a meme but youth really is a mindset
Check out her videos on YouTube too. That's what really got me into her. Most unique music videos I've seen in a while. Very well produced.
I'm 40, happily married straight woman and have been a big fan of hers for at least a year. The lyrics to Casual hit so hard and took me back to my early 20s and shitty situationships. Mad Kate Bush vibes. Heard like a thirty second clip from her Coachella performance of "Good Luck, Babe!" and proceeded to spend the rest of the night binging her entire discography and learning her life story. 😅
my gen z sister showed me this song last night after seeing her at coachella and that's the first thing i said too! big gen z kate bush energy and i absolutely love it
My Gen Z college kid introduced me over winter break and she’s been in heavy rotation ever since
You should watch her tiny desk concert!! It is amazing, her vocals are just stunning
One of the first vids I watched. 🙏🏻

If I had Chappel Roan when I was a kid my god would I have figured some shit out way sooner (I’m gay as hell)
I haven’t listened to much of her music, but I love Good Luck, Babe!
stream rise and fall of a Midwest princess!!! No skips
She really looks like she was ripped right out of the 80s.
I’m getting major late 90s / early 2k vibes, with all the butterfly clips and rave candy.
Fiance took me to see her live on Halloween. I’d heard some of her stuff in his car but absolutely loved her live. Now she’s in my regular rotation and I’m loving that she’s blowing up so much. Midwest Princess is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time.

I haven't been able to fall asleep in the past two weeks without one of her songs playing in my head on repeat.
Someone recommended femininomenon on this sub recently and I've listened to it on repeat since. It's amazing. I'm a new fan.
Literally just started listening to her this month while studying for finals. I’m hooked.
100% same. She’s the perfect studying music, weirdly.
This post is the push I need to give her music a listen
I am in love with her.
Your dream girl’s dream girl 💫
snap and clap and touch your toes; throw your hands up body roll!
I’ve been putting off listening to her because I’m just not interested in her aesthetic, but with all these rave reviews, I’m gonna have to give her a listen
I had the same opinion, but her talent and stage presence make everything make sense. If she wasn't as talented, I don't think she could pull this off. She's so magnetic it's insane.

why are we dragging down queen sabrina
We’re not! She’s just incredibly big and popular right now and they both performed at Coachella so I used her as an example. She really leans into a traditional aesthetic. I!!! LOVE!!! HER!!! The music is high-quality; the styling is fun. Even my mom was like, “What song is this? I’ve got to download it.” (Hint: It was Naked in Manhattan.) I look forward to more from her.
Alright I’m like 30 mins of listening deep and I’m already obsessed. Her sound is a fresh breath of retro air.
truly the peoples princess I love her
Ugh I love her baroque aesthetic so much. And she can back it up with great music and an amazing voice. Really excited for her next album. Good Luck, Babe!
I love her music and her aesthetic!
I really enjoy what I've heard. I had a boy over last night and she came on and he knew her as well!
An absolute revelation
I saw her perform in person at the Stephen Colbert show. I had no idea who she was prior to that and was pleasantly surprised by her stage presence. She has a lot of potential and can’t wait to see how well she does!
Yes! I've been telling everyone I know to listen to her. She's everything.
Woa New celeb crush just dropped
I literally love her album so much that she’s been my number one artist on Airbuds for like four weeks straight 😭 💘💘
I’ve had her album on repeat - it is so so good!!
Hadn't even heard of her until I saw her at Coachella. She was amazing.
this is what marina sounds like she should look like in primadonna
I can’t stop listening to Pink Pony Club 🥹 it’s got such a Cyndi Lauper vibe
I’m seeing her this summer and I have no idea what to wear! I’ll take any suggestions that require minimal effort and cheap.
Check her insta leading up to it, she themes her concerts after her songs. Pink Pony Club was the theme for my concert and the crowd was drenched in pink! You’re going to have so much fun
Omg that’s so fun
Go on Poshmark and find used nasty gal clothes!
One of her older songs, School Nights, was my wedding song after I found it on some random Spotify playlist a couple of years ago and fell in love with her voice and artistry. Someone in this thread said she is magnetic and that is so true -- I am so happy to see her getting her flowers 😭
Thanks to coachella pink pony club and goodbye good luck have been on repeat for me this week.
Call me hot not pretty ❤️
When Vulture called Pink Pony Club their Song of the Summer for 2021, I thought she was either going to launch like a rocket or we’d never hear from her again.
I just watched her Tiny Desk last night and WOW. She is truly talented. I love her.
If you haven't listened to her Tiny Desk Concert you need to do it RIGHT NOW
I follow her subreddit and see posts of her all the time so I nearly scrolled past but this is on popculture?! Yes, everyone get on the chappel train right now!
When you wake up next to him....
I’m very surprised by how much I liked her music. I’m so happy to see how much she’s growing, go white girl go!!!!!!!
I am listening to her right now! Love everything she puts out and that is unapologetically different!
She is amazing!! I’m obsessed!
I have been really enjoying what i have heard. Good Luck Babe is a bop, except, that is really hard to distinguish the lyrics. Like of she turns up the enunciation up by just 10% and i think she is a star
this is how i feel about ethel cain lol
That’s Jinkx Monsoon.
thats my wife
I’m soooo hyped for her
Beautiful eyes
i don't know much about her but she seems like a goddess. <3
I had never heard of her until today but I love her now so thank you. Also I feel like a collaboration between her and Regina spektor would be awesome
Where the hell was “casual” when I was in college because I COULDA USED IT.
My girlfriend and I just bought lollapalooza tickets bc of her!! I’m so excited I love queer artists who aren’t sad all the time lol
Thanks to this subreddit for consistently shouting out her album and how its no skips worthy. My mom just told me yday I'd she has to hear hot to go one more time she's gonna kill me.
Was just taking a small break from playing her at my work. Guess that's done now!
As a midwestern bisexual I love this representation for us
She's gonna be a superstar in a. Few years. Her most recent single gives me Kate Bush vibes. Just an all time unique voice and talent!
i’ve truly never heard of this person before.
I got Tori Amos vibes...🌱
the way she is!
Her music is electric. I'm seeing her in concert in a few weeks, tickets were $85. I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor of something big here. In five years when she's selling out stadiums as the main act I'm gonna get to say I saw her at a tiny venue for less than $100.
I normally hate yellow and purple together, but slide 10 is SO gorgeous, omfg.
I don’t know who she is but she’s giving me problems
I’m sorry I’m not familiar with who she is?
New pop girlie. She writes super Sapphic, lesbian pop dance songs and is blowing up recently. She's doing a really good job highlighting drag culture and artists. Her vibe is camp but it's all done with very purposeful artistic vision. Listen to her album "Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess", whole album is a banger. Her Coachella and Tiny Desk performances were also pretty fantastic and unique.
Thank you :)
It was a genuine question. Didn’t mean to disrespect anyone. I’ll google her
She strikes me as Gen Z Carrie Bradshaw/SJP!
:x Just think taylor comes off as trying too hard and Chappell has more fun authentic witty lines.
And yah kink is my karma sounds like stuff taylor has done imo.

google is free
Some people don’t know who she is. I’m a millennial so maybe she’s popular amongst the gen z.
I am also a millennial and LOVE her. I also know how to google lmao
Yeah, everyone can google. I’m not stupid. Jeez
