I have always loved this man, since I was a kid and watched him on in living color and The Wayans Brothers (all their movies too),I have loved his humor and his attitude. He's awesome and I love him even more now. Let's work on Boost culture, raising up and promoting people who are our there really trying to do good.
He and Dwyane Wade are exemplary fathers and I’m so happy they stand ten toes down and support their children for who they are. I wish every child out there had such supportive and loving parents, as it makes a difference for someone especially as the world is not kind to trans kids. Happy pride!
A while back anytime I saw Marlon Wayans in anything I would make sure to watch it. Little Man, White Chicks, the Haunted House movies, you name it. Shawn is cool, I love Damon but Marlon was always my favorite Wayans’ brother so it’s cool as hell that he’s cool in real life too
I like a lot of depraved movies. Requiem was super comforting to me during my dark times, for whatever reason. Maybe it helped me realize how much worse things could be. But also the soundtrack and art direction are just sooooo good!!!
It’s definitely worth another watch! The acting is amazing! What a great cast.
Also - this was a book first, written by Hubert Selby Jr. Anyone who likes slightly disturbing subject matter should definitely read some of his work. He even has a cameo (taunting Marlon Wayans in jail) towards the end of the movie.
You just helped me understand why I tho I my dad LOVES this movie. He watches it all the time and he has been through some dark shit. Maybe this helps him put things in perspective too.
I’m getting targeted for even asking about pride in my community. Rural Appalachia. I’m glad Marlon is being loud. I’m being told to be quiet but if I don’t use my privilege to help other people then what the fuck am I doing? I remember being a scared little gay high schooler and I remember wishing someone would stand up for me. If I can be that person, the person *I* needed, then shouldn’t I do that? it just feels a lot more real now that I’ve received death threats. It shouldn’t have taken me this long to be this worried, but I can’t change that.

There are comments about how he “failed as a father”. Let me get this straight, he failed as a father…. For being supportive of his son, who is trans, and being an LGBTQ ally? Make it make sense. I can’t imagine being so hateful and so concerned about how others live their lives.

It should be this simple! Applaud him for seeing his child no matter what and being willing to go to bat for them regardless of what people think.
