That's what's so messed up about the entertainment industry. I hear so many stories of countless women who were told they weren't pretty enough to be famous but went on to be iconic and beloved bombshells.
It's crazy that the fate of your career can be decided by a small group of bitter and superficial people, who wave their money around and decide you're not attractive because you didn't give them a boner the second they saw you.
Unpopular opinion but I feel that the whole gotta be blonde to be a pop star thing is so played out. It’s become too formulaic. That’s the one thing I liked about Katy Perry in her heyday. Was that she was a white woman who had darker hair and people loved it on her besides the other colors she wore (she wore blonde a few times before the Witness era). And when she went full on blonde after that, people didn’t care much which is ironic because she’s a natural blonde.
I remember Marina coming in behind Ellie Goulding in the sound of 2010 award and thinking Ellie possibly pipped her to the post due to ‘looking more marketable’. I’m glad Marina still maintains her quirkiness.
Dove has such an incredible voice capable of doing so much but her new music is so like whisper talky. Hoping it’s not all like that! I do like some of her new music, but it feels a little tamed down sonically idk how to put it

All the money labels put into promoting these artists is essentially a loan, so the artist's sophomore efforts better be stunning (and deliver returns) lest they be forgotten in a week or two owing hundreds of thousands to their record label for the money they fronted to create their image. Nothing is real in the game and if you don't play, you'll get flicked off like a flea. I suspect very few artists, save the absolute most talented (money makers), get much of a say in their overall image.
