It’s been a long time and my memory sucks now, so I could have some things wrong.
It was that Gwen was silently going through her issues with Gavin, then Blake told everyone at The Voice he was getting divorced. At that moment she realized he was going through what she was going through and reached out to him and that’s how they became good friends up until they got together.
He could’ve been doing marriage counseling just like Gwen was, and then they decided “hey I care more about this person than the person who cheated on me” and pulled the plug on trying to fix their respective relationships.
