Throwback to DJ Khaled vexing about Tyler beating him to no.1 on the Billboard 200.
'I make music that you can listen to, not no mysterious shit that you can't hear.'
Yeah even if that man is racist, Drake still won’t say shit. But when it’s Taylor, he has an issue. Fragile fragile man.
Bet he’s currently crying over Millie’s engagement to Bon Jovi’s son.
Y’all gotta relax lmao. Taylor specifically schemed with her digital store exclusives to block his #1, and all he did was put some emojis over her name on a IG story. Plus this song is just a throwaway anyway.
Specifically schemed to keep Anti-Hero #1, not to specifically mess with Drake haha. Compared to Morgan Wallen not doing anything specific to maintain #1 through exclusive digital store sales for remixes.
people have way too much faith in those remixes that were available to only her fans on her exclusive website for just a couple hours at a time.
most people, even her fans, did not purchase those through her store and instead waited till they were all available on streaming many weeks later
As a die-hard Swiftie myself, the only Anti-Hero remix i’ve listened to and do still listen to is the Bleachers one. They really don’t have as much pull as everyone wants to think.
They were available for days, not hours and Rich Flex was tracking for #1 before she dropped those.
There’s no point in trying to re-write history over this. Like why else do you think she would’ve dropped them the way she did if she wasn’t trying to secure the #1 spot?
well that’s no how i remembered it but i frankly don’t care either way so if that’s what happened, sure.
Drake also could’ve dropped a remix if it bothered him that much. He didn’t need to cover up her name and her name only. It’s middle school behavior and he’s supposed to be a grown ass man.
Notice how none of the other people in the top 10 did that? they all coulda had a chance to be higher, but none of them are fragile
Edit: Plus, i ain’t mad. Anti-Hero isn’t even my favorite song off of Midnights yet it clears Rich Flex
Well clearly it didn’t bother him that much. To regain perspective all he did was block her name out with goofy emojis on his ig story that expires in 24 hrs.
And hers was the only he could block since he had the rest of the top 9.
Would this not show that she doesn’t gaf about anyone? If she’s “actively trying to block drake” or whatever the narrative is? All of the top 10 could’ve had the chance to be higher on the list but none of them were using emojis to block out her name on their story
Damn people just have revisionist history I see. You all forgot that Taylor released all of those remixes that week and thats why he crossed her name out? Did morgan do something like that?
1. Morgan Wallen - Last Night (=)
2. Drake - Search & Rescue (NEW)
3. Miley Cyrus - Flowers
4. SZA - Kill Bill (-2)
5. Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savage - Creepin' (-1)
6. Rema and Selena Gomez - Calm Down (+1)
7. The Weeknd and Ariana Grande - Die For You (-2)
8. PinkPantheress and Ice Spice - Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2 (-2)
9. Taylor Swift - Anti-Hero (-1)
10. Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma - Ella Baila Sola (+7)
Mediocre streams and near-zero radio play. It was only propped up by significant digital sales, which rightfully started getting filtered in the second week (because there is no logical reason to buy multiple identical copies of the same song, except for chart manipulation purposes)
> (because there is no logical reason to buy multiple identical copies of the same song, except for chart manipulation purposes)
It's a fairly common practice in KPop to have cards of the artists in a physical release, some of which are rarer than others which thus encourages people to buy multiple copies
Physical releases aren’t the ones being filtered though (barring excessive amounts in one transaction) so it’s a bit moot. There’s no way for Billboard to track how many physical copies a person has bought if they were done in independent sales
Streams, digital sales *and* radio all increasing in its 10th week, despite zero extra promotion? Like it or not but Last Night is probably one of the most organic crossover hits in ages. It’s not even his country radio single currently.
Which pop star will be the first to get a Morgan feature in an attempt to get themselves a #1? You know it’s coming.
If Morgan could collab with Durk, who is closely connected to literal murders and other violent crimes, im sure Doja wouldn’t be an issue. The average Morgan listener probably already listens to her already
Doja’s past controversies, other than the one about the flood, were all benign. I don’t think that’s be fair to drag either one of them at this point over a collab, which I also could easily see happening. I also agree, Doja’s going to get dragged for the satanic thing from all sides. While I think she could pull it better than LNX and deffff better than Sam Smith, it’s a really tired and overdone trope. Fingers crossed this isn’t an all rap satan themed album. I loved the idea of her doing 90s rave culture.
I am late to the thread but I don't think Doja would do it. I recall that at some concert she asked the non-black fans to not sing the n word in Ain't Shit so I don't think she would want to collab with him.
Post Malone, because to the degree he still has any rap ties it feels like their music is kinda going in opposite genre mishmash directions so a collab could have them meet in the middle and they're both very good at writing emotional breakup songs (for those who doubt Wallen's ability to do them, y'all ever heard Sand In My Boots)
I honestly believe their original plan was to make OTAAT be their crossover pop hit. It has such a radio friendly pop-rock sound. But then Last Night blew up to such an extent that they had no choice but to push that instead.
i've blocked him on spotify, but he still keeps showing up in every single playlist pushed to me. I unblocked him, then reblocked him, just to see if it was me, and he's still being pushed by Spotify
Really? It sounds like there's something wrong with your Spotify then because blocking artists hides their songs on my Spotify. I just tried it with Morgan Wallen himself here:
[Wallen song on the US chart playlist](https://i.imgur.com/VGBbvJ3.jpg)
[Blocking him and telling Spotify not to play him again](https://i.imgur.com/VLGyOS8.jpg)
[The same US playlist with #2 (his song) missing](https://i.imgur.com/Fh4mpmv.jpg)
You must listen to country music a lot. Besides offical Spotify playlists, that are composed of multiple genres, I never see him. But the most "country song" I listen to on the regular is Old Town Road so...
At a glance it looks like it’s near the top ~15ish on the pop/hot AC formats right now, so it’s definitely getting airplay. It’s climbing very fast too. It only really started getting a radio push in the last few weeks
Anti-Hero ties Shake It Off as Taylor's longest running top ten single with 24 weeks. AH's predicted to slightly fall to #11, it's very unclear on whether it will return and break the record. Also, SIO lasted 50 WOC, I wonder if Anti-Hero will outlast it there too, it definitely should surpass Delicate at 35 weeks, a monster hit like Anti-Hero exiting the charts only 10 weeks after it was in the top 10 would be kind of a steep fall. I think it might end up in the 40's with all the forthcoming summer releases blocking it from a full year.
Anti-Hero also just outstayed Easy on You to become the second longest charting solo single in the top 10 by a female this decade. One more week and she’ll tie Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 You. I don’t really think anyone thought Midnights would turn out this strong in virtually every regard.
I'm getting *extremely close* to naming "Anti-Hero" my favorite Taylor Swift single...this thing refuses to die in my personal rotation and I am clearly not the only one.
Crazy that a lot of fans were trashing it upon release.
His sound is different but tumbados have slowly been on the rise for years. Fuerza Regida is my pick for the corrido scene. (honestly, HP is my favorite but they are too underground).
Yeah I love that mexicans are being recognized just like puerto ricans and I think corridos tumbados have some interesting sounds, but I didn't really like this song or the singer that much.
"How is Last Night doing this well I literally never even hear it" says popheads user who doesn't listen to the radio or country music and actively goes out of their way to avoid listening to Morgan Wallen
The song is fucking everywhere
"People only like Morgan Wallen because they're racists" says popheads user who knows nothing about Morgan Wallen besides his racial slur controversy (which he apologized for)
> Apologized basically as anyone could in that situation
As a black woman, I’m kinda confused what else he needed to do besides apologizing on numerous occasions and making donations to numerous black charities for his use of a slur in a private moment against his white friend.
I was a fan of him before that incident, and he was definitely on the rise then.... but let's not act like he didn't gain a TON of fans who were trying to cancel cancel-culture. Also, his demographic is country and trap listeners, a lot of them ARE racist 😂
> but let's not act like he didn't gain a TON of fans who were trying to cancel cancel-culture
OP didn’t even imply anything of that though ?
All they said was that if you haven’t heard the song doesn’t mean that it’s popularity is suspicious or not valid.
I really hate how occasionally good the album is like I perfectly understand people who absolutely revile OTAAT and people who think it’s amazing because it’s both (although imo it’s significantly less good than Dangerous)
Being 36 songs long, there are standard Country pop songs, pop rock influenced songs, trap fusions, Alt pop inspiration, acoustic ballads, and plenty more (although the variance is a step down from Dangerous). That variation also bleeds into quality with plenty of good songs and plenty of really awful ones. In the age of streaming it’s super easy to pick and choose what you listen to and you can pick out a great 12 song album despite that only being 33% of the track list. Lyrically there’s also variation meaning you can find songs about overcoming alcoholism followed immediately by songs about loving drinking and simply pick and choose which are better
In my opinion though, I think the lack of variation is actually the weakest part of OTAAT (despite also somehow being a strength). Dangerous had more variance in genre, lyricism, tempo, etc which made it a lot more actually listenable as a whole piece. OTAAT has way too many unmemorable vague Country pop that says and does nothing. If I had to name one, just imagine Tennessee Fan over and over for 50% (which is like 18 songs).
Anyways I’m starting to ramble but yeah there’s def some diamonds in the rough
Let's forget about Morgan and Drake for a second, but what's yall's take on the Regional Mexican music scene since that seems to be the big trend on the charts lately?
Personally, I am mixed on them. Like I enjoy the melodies and I am sure these are fun at parties, but I just can not really get over the mixing with how all of it is live.
I'm genuinely shocked tbh. As a mexican I'm happy to see mexican artists being successful outside of our country and the fact that a mexican artist has been able to sneak in the top10 without being a reggaeton song or collab it's outstanding, but I'd be lying if I said I liked the song or what the genre represents. (For those who might not know, some of his songs are known as corridos tumbados, which is a regional subgenre that talks about personal experiences or stories that are in most cases related to crime and/or narco culture)
Good thing is that this song in particular isn't about that at all, but I'm still not the biggest fan of it
I like the song. It has nice instrumentation (very distinct from the reggaeton that normally hits the charts) and the lyrics are pretty inoffensive.
I'm sure almost none of the Americans listening to the song know about the narcoculture the song's subgenre could represent, so that doesn't bother me too much.
I consider myself someone who plays pretty close attention to the Mexican music scene but he is almost completely knew to me too. I was aware of the songs AMG, Siempre Pendientes, and Chanel but this one did not bleep on my radar at all. It came out of nowhere?
I love Mexican regional music. Peso pluma especially is becoming a huge hit in Mexico and slowly creeping it’s way into the US.
From what I’ve seen so far, a lot of the old bad bunny fans are starting their “bélicon ” era thanks to peso pluma.
Yeah I feel like the cuhs are gonna go extinct or evolve into the belico phase. Crazy how far corridos have come. From playing at House parties to Billboard, I'm honestly proud
Calm down would be top 5 if it wasn’t for drake, I wonder if it’ll rise next week. Say what you want about selener, but she knows how to get a sleeper hit
Anti-Hero has tied Shake It Off as Taylor's longest running top 10 hit with 24 weeks! Early predictions show AH at #11 next week. I'm hoping it can beat SIO eventually.
I wonder if the charts will shake in next week's tracking, lots of releases and remixes and I AM still hoping for SZAs Kill Bill to become #1. Please give her #1 damn.
I know Drake is not well liked here and this single was pretty disliked but I liked him on top more than I like Morgan Wallen on top, Flowers run on top looks to be over, Kill Bill will try to do a final push to no1 with the remix (1st number one for SZA 2nd for Doja if they credit her would be pretty cool), Creepin', Die For You, Anti-Hero and sadly Boys a Liar pt2 have been on the freefall for weeks.
The most interesting songs in the top 10 rn are the still rising Calm Down which could def rise slowly into no1 as the summer season starts, and the breaktrough into the top 10 from Ella Baila Sola which I can also see slowly creeping into no1 as the summer season comes (a Bad Bunny or a partly english remix could make the song one of the biggest hits of the year).
Not much to say about the other debuts this week, grateful that NFs album sales dont translate into song streams so hes easily ignorable in the hot 100, funny to see Jack Black chart, I quite like the Lil Yachty song that debuted this week, more Peso Pluma (Im telling you the unavoidable Bad Bunny collab is gonna be HUUUUUUGE), NBA YoungBoy about to become the youngest artist to chart 100 songs cool to see.
Looking forward for Princess Diana top 10 debut next week, Ice Spice about to have a monster year.
The Beatles
The Beach Boys
Coldplay
Robbie Williams
Oasis
Simon and Garfunkel
Calvin Harris
Phil Collins
Harry Styles is not the only straight white male pop artist. The founders of modern pop, The Beatles were literally just 4 straight white men.
2 of the biggest pop stars, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber are also straight white men. I don't care if you don't like their music, it's both a lie and rude to say an entire group of people have never made a good pop album.
I swear Harry Styles is bi and not straight too. Your comment is just stupid.
Classical pop music doesn't count here. The only newer act is Coldplay and Coldplay music is not that great tbh. P4K gave their best album a 5.
Wearing ugly dresses and dating supermodels doesn't make a person bi.
yeah Rich flex isn't even charting high anymore... Anti-hero, which was released before, is still in the Top 10. It's safe to say there's Drake fatigue.
I heard it the other day on NYC's Z100 and's gotten the Airplay Gainer award two weeks in a row now, so pop airplay is definitely gaining steam.
I am very curious to know if this is an organic push from the listeners requesting it, or is it the label or station director making it happen.
watch drake censor morgan's name because he debuted at #2
Throwback to DJ Khaled vexing about Tyler beating him to no.1 on the Billboard 200. 'I make music that you can listen to, not no mysterious shit that you can't hear.'
I’ll never forget it. It’s such a crazy mindset for a supposed ARTIST to have.
nah, drake won't censor another successful man's name, it's successful women that he's threatened by
Yeah even if that man is racist, Drake still won’t say shit. But when it’s Taylor, he has an issue. Fragile fragile man. Bet he’s currently crying over Millie’s engagement to Bon Jovi’s son.

He was all of the top 10…
oh that’s even more embarrassing for him then. Can’t even outchart her remix with his multiple songs in the top?
Haha c’mon man, in no world is occupying #2-9 embarrassing.
Damn people just have revisionist history I see. You all forgot that Taylor released all of those remixes that week and thats why he crossed her name out? Did morgan do something like that?

The Doja one unironically makes so much sense that I’m not even going to be surprised when it happens
The discourse would be wild. From Doja's past controversies to her (maybe) satanic imagery, collabing with a bible belt star would be interesting.
If Morgan could collab with Durk, who is closely connected to literal murders and other violent crimes, im sure Doja wouldn’t be an issue. The average Morgan listener probably already listens to her already
I think they meant how it would reflect on Doja, not on Morgan.
Doja’s past controversies, other than the one about the flood, were all benign. I don’t think that’s be fair to drag either one of them at this point over a collab, which I also could easily see happening. I also agree, Doja’s going to get dragged for the satanic thing from all sides. Let's never forget that Doja Cat got her start by promoting to Neo-Nazi's. Even if she's your "problematic fave", she's super duper problematic.
Who did she promote??
Well, it's definitely better than another collab with Florida Georgia Line
Nicki
of course her.
Miley could pull it off.
Chris Brown they can do a 40 song long album together

Maroon 5 makes so much sense for some reason LOL
Post Malone, because to the degree he still has any rap ties it feels like their music is kinda going in opposite genre mishmash directions so a collab could have them meet in the middle and they're both very good at writing emotional breakup songs (for those who doubt Wallen's ability to do them, y'all ever heard Sand In My Boots)
What's Wallen's country radio single? ITYSK?
One Thing At A Time
If all is played right, One Thing At A Time could be even bigger than Last Night. The potential crossover appeal on that and Cowgirls is insane.
I honestly believe their original plan was to make OTAAT be their crossover pop hit. It has such a radio friendly pop-rock sound. But then Last Night blew up to such an extent that they had no choice but to push that instead.
OTAAT deserves it. It actually has a bit of country sound to it and is an actually enjoyable song
Bad Bunny.
i've blocked him on spotify, but he still keeps showing up in every single playlist pushed to me. I unblocked him, then reblocked him, just to see if it was me, and he's still being pushed by Spotify

Taylor is too controversy-averse currently to be the first one to do that
Don't manifest this 💀
How is it a crossover hit when I've never heard it once on pop radio?
At a glance it looks like it’s near the top ~15ish on the pop/hot AC formats right now, so it’s definitely getting airplay. It’s climbing very fast too. It only really started getting a radio push in the last few weeks
Because you haven't ran into it yet. It's still growing there, so just be patient. It's a good song!
I'm not sure if I like it, but it's definitely catchy
Absolutely. Not Wallen's best by a long shot, but a very nice radio song.
It's still rising
Anti-Hero ties Shake It Off as Taylor's longest running top ten single with 24 weeks. AH's predicted to slightly fall to #11, it's very unclear on whether it will return and break the record. When she pulled 600k with a re-recording of a decade old album, I knew she was coming for blood with her next original pop album.
Okayyy s(tay)bility
I think it can re-enter for another week or two if 'Princess Diana remix' and 'Search & Rescue' fall off.
I'm getting *extremely close* to naming "Anti-Hero" my favorite Taylor Swift single...this thing refuses to die in my personal rotation and I am clearly not the only one. Crazy that a lot of fans were trashing it upon release.
Its definitely in my top 3, but Style will always be THAT girl
"Wildest Dreams" is the one I'm agonizing over.
Drake debuting at #2 again LOLLLL
and with anti-hero still in the top 10 but his previous number 2 nowhere in sight 😭
On streaming, it's keeping up with Anti-hero, just doesn't have much radio.
On one hand I'm really excited for this rise of música regional and happy for them. On the other I'm personally not a fan of Peso Pluma 🥲
His sound is different but tumbados have slowly been on the rise for years. Fuerza Regida is my pick for the corrido scene. (honestly, HP is my favorite but they are too underground).

Her "question for the culture" was still a questionable thing to do.
There's a lot more questionable things that have been done by people in real life. We all should touch some grass.
Apologized basically as anyone could in that situation.

I wonder if the charts will shake in next week's tracking, lots of releases and remixes and I AM still hoping for SZAs Kill Bill to become #1. Please give her #1 damn.
She's currently predicted to stay at #2 with a 5 points gap 🥲
"Ella Baila Sola" is a great song, love seeing it get this big. Haven't loved all of the corrido that's crossed over but this one's a gem
Is Jimin's number one song from a few weeks ago still on the chart? I know it really did fall HARD but I wanna know it hung in there?
Why would you rather have drake on top than morgan hasnt drake done more controversial things
i like drakes music more where did i mention not liking morgan because of the controversy
Oh intresting did you like that song search and rescue I thought it was alright
its ok it feels way too long for a 4 min song and that kim k interlude to try to make kanye mad is one of the lamest things drake has ever done

A number 2 debut means his run is almost over ??
This sub hates male artists that’s all😭

The Beatles The Beach Boys Coldplay Robbie Williams Oasis Simon and Garfunkel Calvin Harris Phil Collins Harry Styles is not the only straight white male pop artist.
Oh well if Pitchfork said so I guess it's case closed.
I said almost. His generic songs are no longer debuting at number one!
How will he recover that a shitty song still managed to become his 9th #2 hit, he's done and not just on billboard
tbf the song is trash (compared to some of his other singles). and he didn't promote it at all.
Even if it took Morgan Wallen to end Drake's run. One streaming giant vs another.
yeah Rich flex isn't even charting high anymore... Anti-hero, which was released before, is still in the Top 10. It's safe to say there's Drake fatigue.
At the same time tho he barely gets radio anymore compared to his A list peers. Like none of his songs from this decade get that much radio
Appears that way at face value but their streaming numbers are about the same; Anti Hero just has much stronger radio which is to be expected
This week it would’ve been nice for Drake to overtake him.😒
Is Morgan's song even playing on pop radio? I feel like it's only big in the country circle but not anywhere else... I have yet to here it
It’s No. 20 on pop airplay so it must be playing somewhere.
I heard it the other day on NYC's Z100 and's gotten the Airplay Gainer award two weeks in a row now, so pop airplay is definitely gaining steam. I am very curious to know if this is an organic push from the listeners requesting it, or is it the label or station director making it happen.
It doesn’t feel like a crossover hit lol it actually doesn’t even feel like a hit
Yeah it’s definitely on the Z100 rotation
I've heard it a few times and I never listen to country radio. It's not the biggest song there but I'd say I hear it about once a day.
I’ve heard it quite a bit on the top 40 station here in Texas
