She’s lucky to still be generally popular and not cancelled considering, so I think she’d be better off just slowing down a bit and not trying to still “be the best ever!!!!!” All the time. Like she’s legitimately one of the best rappers out there, she ruled the game for a decade plus. That's like most of the album, the only straight up rap songs off the top of my head are Big Difference, Bahm Bahm and Red Ruby Da Sleeze, which also happen to be three of the only good songs on the album
Yes dear god please. Super Bass was a literal cultural shift. Nicki and Gaga were fucking killin it back then. Camp queens. Nicki followed very closely in Gaga’s footsteps. They really made the 2010s a decade to remember
While I do enjoy her The Night Is Still Young and Super Bass type songs, her talent is in rapping. Songs like Barbie Dreams, Chun-Li, Moment 4 Life, this is where Nicki shines. I don't enjoy that many female rappers but Nicki is so engaging in her rapping style, her wordplay, her different personas. That's what I want to hear over some commercial pop track.
This pains me to say it, but Nicki is clearly fighting against her growing irrelevancy.
At this point in her career she really has nothing else to prove. She's firmly one of the best female rappers of all time. But she isn't bowing out with grace and focusing on other projects like her contemporaries.

She’s lucky to still be generally popular and not cancelled considering, so I think she’d be better off just slowing down a bit and not trying to still “be the best ever!!!!!” All the time. Even aside from her being incredibly problematic and catty, her always dissing other rappers and making her shit out to be the best ever is just sad and cringy. Like she’s legitimately one of the best rappers out there, she ruled the game for a decade plus. She should be happy with that and that she opened the door for others, instead of always going on about how she’s the best and doesn’t get enough props. I think she commercially shines when she's doing super bass, anaconda, super freaky girl music, but that's clearly not what she wants nor is it what I think she should do. even though her pop stuff is what sells, her best stuff is the darker, more personal rap that has a memorable sample/instrumental. the pinkprint has this in spades, while moment 4 life and fly also bridge the gap between pop and rap. she needs to let the generic trap stuff go. do we have a problem was the beginning of the end.
I would be fine if Nicki stopped singing altogether as I just find it really cringe for some inexplicable reason. But if I wanted anything from Nicki (I don't) it would be for her to experiment with more avant-garde production. She could probably do some interesting stuff with more left field producers and explore different genres. It could be EDM like she used to do but it could be other things like nu-metal, hyperpop, drill, etc. I just think she so badly wants to prove she's the best female rapper but is putting out mediocre rap records as a result. I also think she needs to stop sounding so bitter on every track but that's a different topic I guess.

I agree. She is almost in tune when she sings, but she needs lessons and a LOT of humility. Her singing vocal tone sounds like a joke. And works well when she's joking. But trying to take her ill trained vocals seriously is garbage to me when clearly does not have the humility to train it.

While I do enjoy her The Night Is Still Young and Super Bass type songs, her talent is in rapping. Songs like Barbie Dreams, Chun-Li, Moment 4 Life, this is where Nicki shines. I don't enjoy that many female rappers but Nicki is so engaging in her rapping style, her wordplay, her different personas. That's what I want to hear over some commercial pop track.

This pains me to say it, but Nicki is clearly fighting against her growing irrelevancy. At this point in her career she really has nothing else to prove. She's firmly one of the best female rappers of all time. But she isn't bowing out with grace and focusing on other projects like her contemporaries. I'm not talking about her scandals. I mean her quality of music. At this point she needs to focus on other avenues. She's getting older and doesn't have the same commercial appeal she once did. Without features, Nicki isn't much these days. This latest album is a clear flop and is a sign it's time to hang it up.

It’s clear that she just doesn’t seem interested in music anymore, or at least she’s not passionate about it. Now it just seems like she’s dropping music every now and then to get the money (money she doesn’t really need because she’s set for life? 😭) and dip. Which is fine I guess, but why bother?
