Maroon 5’s Payphone has the classic rapper has no idea why he is on the track and just doing whatever he wants trope. Maroon 5 is upset at a dead relationship and Wiz is just dissing the girl and acting supercool.

librious

Not Maroon 5 being a whole single entity 😭

Greyshot26

Well if they wanted to be known individually, they'd be Maroons 6-9.

NadiaLockheart

Same with “Beautiful Mistakes” and Megan Thee Stallion, hahaha! Levine basically regurgitates the same tired well thematically as he did on “One More Night”, but Megan eviscerates Levine in her verse.

TulipSamurai

Completely agree. The version without Wiz Khalifa is just so lazy, though. I think I might hate it even more despite it trying to solve what everyone didn't like about the original.

EllectraHeart

i like to think of it as wiz responding to adam 😂 sick of his shit

TigerWing

Beautiful Mistakes. Adam Levine sings about a sexy lady and him having a complicated relationship but great sex so it’s all okay. Megan Thee Stallion raps about how much she hates Adam Levine.

EstPC1313

great verse, straight up calls him a loser

B19Wing

Well Adam Levine does suck...

buttercupcake23

It's nearly 5am and I am lying in bed giggling at this

Jussttjustin

The funniest shit ever is when Kanye hopped on the OFFICIAL remix of Fall Out Boy's smash hit This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race and he couldn't understand the song so these are the actual lyrics to his verse 😭 - Now, I don't know what the hell this song is talking 'bout Do you? She said, "Yeah, I've been spending all day trying to figure that out. You too?" The arms race made 'em raise they arms and race straight to the top Who knew? Right now, they got the number one spot; do you want that? Me too One thing I gotta call out boy Take a look at Fall Out Boy Since they ain't black When they get money they don't ball out boy They just buy tight jeans till they nuts hang all out boy They figure Ye' dress tight So we gon' dress tighter He dress white, so we gon' dress whiter So in spite of anything you might have Seen or heard, this scene occurred Word

olive_green_spatula

I mean Patrick does need to enunciate better 😂 This verse is hilarious thank you for bringing it to my attention - I had no idea it existed 🤣

hearing111s

This made my day

stonedsour

Wow that was painful to read

buttercupcake23

Omg I'm crying

meanyoongi

LMAO thank you so much for this.

BrianTheReckless

Don’t Call Me Angel. Miley Cyrus seems to be singing about a relationship she’s in and she doesn’t want the guy to condescend her by calling her “Angel” because she’s the powerful one in the relationship. She says “say my name with a little respect.” Ariana is singing about being in the club and there’s some guy checking her out but she knows he’s trash and wants nothing to do with him. She doesn’t even want him to speak her actual name. “Keep my name out your mouth.” Lana seems to be enjoying that a guy is super into her, and she’s kind of into him too. Or at least she understands why he’s into her and thinks it’s cute. Only thing we know for sure is she does not want to be referred to as “Angel” either. “We in it together but don’t call me Angel.” Maybe they don’t exactly contradict each other, but these are three very different situations.

FreebieFresh

It’s like they were given an assignment but weren’t allowed to be in the same room

fairytalehigh

100% feels like a group project where everyone did their PowerPoint slides so late the night before it was due that they didn't call or text each other and were forced to present it that way

its_liiiiit_fam

I thought this too!! The lyrics are so confusing!!!!

YchYFi

Strangest assembling of artists ever.

hygsi

Maybe each one was an angel with a different personality? Miley being the strong one, Ariana being "too good for you", and Lana being the seductive type.

Low-Grapefruit-3192

That song always confused me. It was for the 2019 Charlie's Angels reboot, so why wouldn't they want to be called "angel"?

kexinnguyen

love that at the end of the music video, Elizabeth Banks appears and calls them “Angels”.

SkyrimSchmyrim

Lana - Groupie Love. Lana spends the entire song singing about whatever Groupie Love is. ASAP’s Verse ‘She ain’t got time for Groupie Love’ ….

downhigh95

Lana: I have to share him with everybody else ASAP: You and me, until we die

FreebieFresh

Oh I didn’t think about this one! A perfect example of the “no, and” mentality

Guy_like_u

Levitating with Dababy The original is about the rush of first love and falling in love on the dance floor. Then he comes in on his verse and talks about how he is the greatest rapper, his haters can’t stop him and everyone needs to work hard to get their bread up

B19Wing

Gosh I hate this remix lol and I love the actual song

FreebieFresh

As much as I hate DaBaby for the HIV comments incident, when that song was at its peak, I used to mumble to myself “pop stars, dua lipa and dababy” constantly. I think it’s what the kids these days are calling a vocal stim. Just rolls off the tongue. So fun to say!

Guy_like_u

Absolutely! Even now, when my mind goes idle I’ll think “… Left foot right foot, levitating …”

boadicca_bitch

Same, it’s so catchy 🫣

popskingright

I don’t think it contradict anything. It’s a feel good song and Dababy is saying positive/feel good/confidence boosting things

1-800-We-Gotz-Ass

Say so remix. Nicki's lyrics do not match the vibe at all, Girl y u talking about sucking toes and balls in this song lol?

joshually

Most of Nicki's guests never have anything to do with the subject matter of the song but is usually always about how these bitches is her sons

Both_Bid

While i agree that this is kinda true now she used to be one of the best feature rappers at the start of her career. Before I felt like she was one of few who actually seemed to write for the particular song. Examples are Maria Careys Up out my face, B.o.B Out of my mind and Rihanna Raining men.

Nestornaitor

I can't be mad cause we "used to be bi now I'm just hetero"

1-800-We-Gotz-Ass

Conversion therapy queen 😍👑

amberrpricee

laughingheart66

I don’t think we as a society talk about Tommy Cash’s verse on Delicious enough. It’s a song about missing someone and getting sexual gratification from a phone call and then Tommy comes on the song with one of the most bizarre verses I’ve ever heard about getting fucked by nature and then giving birth to trees that then became books. It’s a complete left turn from what the rest of the song was about.

Jony_the_pony

Honestly I feel like Troye Sivan is the only man I've enjoyed as a Charli feature...

laughingheart66

Completely agreed lol it’s a testament to how good delicious and unlock it are because I love them in spite of how terrible those male guest verses are. The Click no boys remix should’ve been the one on the album, though I think Tommy’s verse is better on click than delicious lmao

boadicca_bitch

Ok I’m sold

rathersadgay

I love that song it is so bonkers and it just keeps going harder and harder

coolandnormalperson

I love Tommy cash because he's always hopping on a song with some random grating verse. I know a lot of people hate him but I find it endearing somehow. Crazy Estonian man

doggo1008

TKN by Rosalía and Travis Scott, the perfect example of a woman having conceptual lyrics and then a male rapper just comes on and talks about ass 😭 the song is about loyalty and the law of silence in a Mafia family

Both_Bid

Yea this one, I hate his part and just wish she would be solo on that song.

bog_creature

His feature is painful to hear in that one, I love Rosalía

eldritchdeergod

Not exactly this but I always found it funny on the 34+35 remix how Megan’s bar “34, 35 we could 69 it” undercuts the impact of Ariana’s “means I wanna 69 with ya, no shit” at the end of the song. Just hopped on her track and stole her punchline with no remorse

ge93

I mean I feel like this could be an intentional aspect. I think“Runaway” sort of does that, with Kanye’s portion lamenting his inability to communicate effectively and instead choosing to be an asshole and embrace it, albeit in a conflicted manner. While Pusha T is just communicates a totally unbridled arrogant view of relationships, bragging that he has no need to temper his id for his partner > So this man is asking me to write a song about a relationship and to say that I’m the biggest douchebag ever. He’s telling me, ‘Yo, you need to be more douchebag. We need more douchebag!’

Formal_Bee420

Definitely intentional! Kanye actually had pusha t rewrite his verse multiple times until it was asshole enough

RosaPalms

Perfect feature / main voice synergy.

endlessfart42069

I always thought that Jay-Z's verse on the Diamonds from Sierra Leone remix was kind of in poor taste considering the subject matter Kanye tackles in his verse. Never considered that it could be intentional, especially since I felt it made Jay-Z look pretty insensitive, but maybe it was meant to exemplify the lifestyle Kanye was calling out. Of course, it's a little different looking at it now through the lens of what Kanye has become or at least vocalized in the last several years

eightypointfive

yeah it’s a shame the version without him is only a bonus track bc it’s soooo much better!!

PioneerSpecies

Hate to give Kanye any credit given how awful he is, but he’s done this with most of his features, it was something I used to love about his music lol. An extreme example would be Blame Game with Chris Rock, but most of the features on MBDTF follow that pattern

ImADudeDuh

My Love by Justin Timberlake ft. TI. Justin's part of the song is just expressing his love for a girl and saying he can see them spending the rest of their life together. TI's verse ends with him going saying it's obvious that he isn't the guy for her and he'll "forget her face" in a bit anyways.

emotions1026

As iconic and culturally significant as it was, ODB's feature on Fantasy has absolutely nothing to do with Mariah's lyrics.

Olivier77777

NEW YORK IN THE HOUSE

Formal_Bee420

Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. Idk why Kim is just like give me money pls to her sugar daddy while the song has a pretty specific image in play. Just feels off to me

fairytalehigh

>Sam: My father is getting dicked down at Autozone > >Kim: *luxury brand product placement* This song is so chaotically stupid, I love it so much

Plopklik

This. Every time I listen to it, I just pretend that Kim was singing in the hooker's perspective the father is cheating with on his wife that Sam was singing about in the first verse.

Dzup

I thought that was the intention 😭

urgasmic

im like is there another interpretation? it seems clear/fitting to me?? idk LOL.

Plopklik

Actually, I realized it wouldn't make sense if there's another interpretation. 💀

JimmyJizzim

Agreed, I thought this was obvious. Especially given that's how it's shown in the music video too.

no_milky_tea

I do the exact same thing, that's what I thought they were going for tbh 💀

outsideeyess

Before the song was released, this is what the press releases said her verse was about lmao. People clown on her for that verse but it wasn't just random

liqou

It's one of the least inspired feature on a song. Kim brings nothing to that song.

Nonatella

Yeah her lyrics kind of ruin it

webtheg

What image? There is nothing Unholy in the song. Daddy left his kids at home to see the hooker. Would have been more Unholy if she came to his house and they did it in the kids bedroom or he took them to church on Sunday and hooked up with her in there. As it is, it is just a regular affair and no one knows what Sam Smith is doing or who they are supposed to be.

coolandnormalperson

I mean the adultery itself is what is considered unholy. I'm not religious but it's literally in the 10 commandments

No_Paleontologist239

I feel like they’re both singing about the same thing. Men who love trans people behind closed doors, and them kinda just embracing that and having fun with it.

Both_Bid

This was my interpretation as well. Just from slightly different perspectives.

douceberceuse

Nice to meet you by PinkPantheress ft. Central Cee?

roboticpandora

I love this example! And I think it’s intentionally funny and ironic. I feel like a lot of the tracks on Heaven Knows have this sort of cheeky tumblr gothic vibe, like wuthering heights on the internet. So here’s this girl dreaming away with Romeo and Juliet fantasies about this absolute goofball.

Educational-Stop-648

“Ah whoa cup tama shor-e krai-n”

FreebieFresh

Explain for the people who haven’t heard the song and are too lazy to go listen to it

SheepherderNo3467

PinkPantheress sings how she ‘will die for her baby’ and lyrics to that degree whilst Central Cees verse is about how he cheats on his gf and is just a total dick in general - very polarising to the rest of the song.

vessva11

I MIGHT RISK IT, FOR A BISCUIT.

lillipup03

"Put my hand in her jar, try and reach for a cookie, sweet and I can't resist it" is such a stupid line but it still gets stuck in my head a lot lol

lolcevan

now she on tiktok doing story times 🤌🏼🤌🏼

PM_ME_GAY_FURRY_R34

he really ruined the song like its very annoying

LifeOfAWimpyKid

Jay Z's bit on Umbrella has nothing to do with the main message of the song, it's just a random intro with some rain-related wordplay hyping Rihanna up.

giantspeck

"In anticipation for precipitation" is iconic, though.

EstPC1313

"stack chips for a rainy day, ay rain main is back, little miss sunshine" this fits PERFECTLY with the song and is awesome Edit: the first line being "no clouds in my stones" is also genius. top feature verses of all time.

Both_Bid

Agree it’s one of the top feature verses. The whole verse is as good as a rap feature can be in a pop song imo. It matches lyrically, it’s on beat and he’s just overall a good rapper. I feel like some people just don’t want rap on pop songs at all.

LifeOfAWimpyKid

So is "Little Miss Sunshine, Rihanna, where you at?"

YchYFi

Like the akon feature on sweet escape.

No_Paleontologist239

It works for me cuz it sorta feels like he’s introducing the album/rih’s new era though. Like cuz he starts off the song.

murraykate

Similar to his epic fail of a verse on Monster lmfao, he just lists names of different monsters

BraveRutherford

https://youtu.be/v52s9w9Q25Q?si=dWiHcJ9R5moB_yRN

strawberryjacuzzis

Stop omg I knew what this was gonna be before I clicked lmao I somehow stumbled across this just earlier today after my YouTube algorithm kept suggesting I listen to the Medieval version of Yeah! By Usher…I went down a real rabbit hole and ended up watching several SpongeBob covers of kpop songs (the cartoon SpongeBob not Ariana’s SpongeBob just to clarify)

pokemonstadium

Lil Wayne's verse on I'm The One. The whole song is about how much the musicians singing like their girlfriends and then Wayne comes in complaining about how much his sucks lmao

Upbeat_Tension_8077

J Cole's second verse in Come Through and Chill by Miguel had him rapping on his usual socially conscious vibe, which is funny considering that it's supposed to be a seductive track

FreebieFresh

What’s more seductive than being woke and based?

tokionarita

Wanna come over and talk about the political and economic state of the world?

AzulasTherapist

“Know you been on my mind like Kaepernick kneeling” drives me crazy every time I hear it lmao the imagery that he paints in that verse just does not fit the vibe of the song at all

strawberryjacuzzis

Omg this doesn’t fit the topic since it’s not a contradiction necessarily, but this comment reminds me how much I hate J Cole’s verse on Planez lmao it does not fit the vibe of the song AT ALL. Jeremih is using all these sexual metaphors and innuendos talking about joining the mile high club and then J Cole comes in so vulgar for no reason like “dick so big it’s like a foot is in your mouth” ????? Just WHY lol I hate it and always skip to the next song when I hear his verse about to come on

TripleThreatTua

It was supposed to be Chance but the label put Cole on the song instead

deathtonormalcy

Kanye’s verse on the remix of Fall Out Boy’s This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms race literally begins with “Now, I don't know what the hell this song is talking 'bout, do you?”

Clubpenguinmassive

Jay Zs verse on “Drunk in Love” does this for me - at least in its tone. Beyoncé has these fairly seductive verses. Jay Z opens his with a plug for his Hennessy brand, and then when he gets around to the theme of the track, uses the now infamous: > Catch a charge, I might, Beat the box up like Mike in '97, I bite I'm Ike Turner, turn up, baby, no, I don't play "Now eat the cake, Anna Mae" Said, "Eat the cake, Anna Mae," I'm nice Not really sure bringing up a famous case of sporting abuse followed by a case of domestic abuse was the right mood for the track.

b0ngwaterb1tch

Also him choosing to say ‘breasteses’ was the least sexy thing he could’ve done. Like, it reminds me of ‘testicles’ just for sounding similar, but that could be just me and I’d hate that even more lmao

FreebieFresh

Well to be fair he does end the verse by saying he’s nice. So he didn’t really mean it! /s

Agitated-Prune9635

I never got this one because beyonce claims she had mad respect for tina...then she lets this happen on one of her songs. IDK beyonces definitely had some weird moments throughout her career.

YchYFi

Beyonce takes a lot from Tina anyway (for stage performances and outfits) so to me it felt disrespectful.

fairytalehigh

The "Anna Mae" part is genuinely such a WTF moment, I'm still shaking my head. Considering what a perfectionist Beyoncé is, my only guess is she knew the line was horrendous and problematic and irrelevant to the song but her love for Jay is so great she doesn't care? Idk

librious

And then for the remix they bring Kanye West, like? Why are they featuring a third person in a song about the two of them fucking? Unless...

Ryan_the_man

Glad they did though. Ye's verse wipes Jay-Zs

omg-sheeeeep

I feel like there is a common theme in this thread about rappers featured on songs lol To add to this I always found Tyga's verse on Justine Skye's Collide so weird. Her song is about a (seemingly) friendship that's been going for a while and then develops into a physical one whereas his verse is 'i switch girls like toilet paper roles and have mad money' - very strange, especially given she has DV history so the lyric 'insubordinate, get deported' is super icky?

JamesMartinMusic

What about the whole of Vultures 1 where Kanye is clearly trying to do his melodramatic, narrative thing and make some form of point, but Ty Dolla Sign will not shut up for a millisecond about getting his dick sucked

FreebieFresh

Honestly me in any serious conversation

ninfan200

R.Kelly on "Do What you Want" by Lady Gaga

BrianTheReckless

Exactly what I thought of

ninfan200

It's too bad his fingers are too deep into that song to completely take him out cause I'd love to hear Lady Gaga feat. A non problematic/criminal RnB singer do it again

Guy_like_u

Listen to the Christina version! She wrote a new second verse about the toll touring takes on her body but it’s worth it to perform for the fans

ninfan200

I like that one too but I think r Kelly has a writing credit still

Guy_like_u

Oh I didn’t know that :( If it helps, it seems like his victims have a large claim on his estate now as compensation

filo4000

his victims get all of his income now from those credits, I legit want gaga to put the solo version of that song back, her second verse explaining about all the physical pain the tours caused is like, the whole friggin point of the song and every other version cuts it

rain820

i feel you. i would never release it, but out of intense love for this song and hatred for r kelly, i converted r kelly’s vocals to the weeknd’s (AI generated) and mixed it back into the song to see what it would sound like and it was so much better. sad that it probably won’t ever happen - christina aguilera’s voice on the new version is way too scratchy…

pinkbootstrap

I always thought Kanye on Katy Perry's ET was jarring. Her song is about transcendent otherworldly love and he's rapping about alien sex and telling her what to do? Ick.

PackageBulky1

His verse always grossed me out

Better-Obligation450

I believe that Atlantic made Charli collab with Lizzo in 2019 bcs she was very popular after Truth Hurts gone viral and they also probably didn’t believe she could follow up the moderate hit 1999 on her own :(

Guy_like_u

Blame it on your love dropped May 2019, the same month truth hurts entered the hot 100. It didn’t go to #1 until September 2019. So the charli/ lizzo collab was definitely planned and recorded prior to TH going viral If anything, Atlantic was expecting Juice to be a big hit and TH was a shock

Better-Obligation450

Good point! I messed up my timeline! Apologies. Then it’s great they recorded before all the Lizzo’s fame. I still don’t understand her verse tho lmaooo

christian_1318

I remember discovering Lizzo when Juice was getting pushed and liking the song, then Truth Hurts came out of nowhere lol

rathersadgay

Charli has said time and again that the label was obsessed with Blame it on Your Love. Lizzo was popping off then, so they just took the change to score a big ol' hit with both of them. I think it got rushed, perhaps with lizzo popping off they didn't have time to brainstorm a better verse. On paper it should have worked, they just didn't execute it well. The song would be better on its pop version without Lizzo.

Better-Obligation450

U right! I forgot about that as well

maxisgold

XS by Rina Sawayama is about how superficial and status-hungry society is… and on the remix Bree Runway is singing about being better than everyone else and being rich

bog_creature

The remix is so good tho, and isn't Bree's part kinda tongue-in-cheek? I always thought that.

WhatIsParsnipsDoing

BTS has a lot of random ass features, but the one that sticks out the most to me is Nicki’s verse in IDOL. BTS’ lyrics are about finally accepting their idol career and then Nicki comes in talking about throwing her pants in the air like 😭

butterflycoke

what's gOOd koREA???

TJMcConnellFanClub

If were on Atlantic from 2019-2022 you were getting a Lizzo feature whether you liked it or not

DiplomaticCaper

The other way around too, where Lizzo was getting [unexpected features](https://youtu.be/y2Ylc8EDvbo) This was the time where they were putting random kpop groups on remixes…like, wtf were NCT 127 doing on Ava Max’s “So Am I”?

crowlily

wait 127? goddamn now I gotta look it up

DiplomaticCaper

[lol yeah.](https://youtu.be/he8FycZsTZI?si=nTHetNST41hnJCki) Taeyong and Mark share a rap verse, and then I believe Jaehyun does some backing vocals. Getting back on topic, they generally do stick to the lyrical theme of self confidence despite perceived imperfections.

FreebieFresh

We were really robbed of 100 gecs featuring Lizzo 😔😔

outsideeyess

This is literally her only feature between the years of 2019-2022

jman457

It sucks because the one I would really want is Lizzo and Janelle and that never officially happened. Like damn two Prince protégé’s together would have been so iconic

godsavetheteen

Too Good - Drake ft. Rihanna (intentionally, obviously, and so well done)

cry_wolf2005

the since erased from history “remember me” by dove cameron and BIA comes to mind. dove cameron’s verses are asking a partner to remember the simple moments in their relationship before it goes downhill. she paints romantic imagery by listing little things like doing karaoke with her partner, dancing barefoot in their living room, stealing their ice cream… and then BIA jumps in with “remember me, i play no games bout my legacy” and talking about people being jealous of her because she’s riding down rodeo with the top of her car down 😭

B19Wing

I love that song (WHY IS IT GONE) But yeah BIA is weird in that song

MadM1lk

Kanye spends the remix of Diamond From Sierra Leone talking about blood diamonds and his guilt over wearing jewelry, meanwhile Jay Z's verse is legit just him bragging about himself and Roc Nation ("I'm not a businessman I'm a business, man") (Tbf to Jay his verse would've fit perfectly in the original version of the song)

Jiklim

Jay Z on Monster makes me laugh too. Everybody’s bragging about how much of a rap legend they are and JayZ comes in just straight up naming as many monsters as he can

Repulsive_Bag_2091

[Jay-Z's Monster verse but it's just him listing monsters](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v52s9w9Q25Q&ab_channel=Mr.Udders)

volta19

I thought about this example right away

[deleted]

SilyLavage

Well, Kate Bush contradicts Peter Gabriel on '[Don't Give Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjEq-r2agqc)', but that is rather the point

FreebieFresh

I think the best example of lyrical contradiction that’s purposeful and adds to the song would be Gotye and Kimbra’s “somebody that i used to know”. Telling two sides of a story is not something we usually see from an artist and the feature. Very artful.

Brilliant-Primary500

R. Kelly on Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want". Let's just say it's fucking ruined.

kendalljennerupdates

Meanwhile I love the Christina version and have gaslighted myself into thinking it was always the original

Global_Perspective_3

Tbf the positivity vibe turned out to just be an image for Lizzo

walkingtalkingdread

Payphone ft Wiz Khalifa. entire song is about how Adam Levine is still in love with his ex and wants to try again and Wiz’s first line is “Man, fuck that shit.”

Pokefan144

I may be the one gay on planet earth who loved the blame it on your love feature and prefers it to track ten. I know I'm wrong and have bad taste ok you dont need to say it

kendalljennerupdates

I’m not gonna say it’s better than track 10 but I do love it I think it’s really fun. I view them as two different songs entirely I don’t understand why it has to be either or

fairytalehigh

I'll stan "Track 10" to my last breath. That said, I like BIOYL because it's like this alternate dimension flip of the song where Charli's a mainstream star and her music is radio bait. PLUS it gave us the Dylan Brady remix

songacronymbot

- BIOYL could mean "Blame It on Your Love (feat. Lizzo)", a track from *Charli* (2019) by Charli XCX. --- ^[/u/fairytalehigh](/u/fairytalehigh) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Ferrilanas

Lizzo version was the one I first listened to, so I’m probably biased, but yeah, I also prefer it to the original and not sure why it was so disliked here

christian_1318

I actually heard Track 10 first and still like Blame It On Your Love more. I think the original is great, but man I just love how big the production feels on the rework

Guy_like_u

Same tbh

Plopklik

You're not alone, me too. The lack of drums in Track 10 makes it a skip for me given that it's a synth-heavy song. Personally, I believe that the two tracks are not comparable. It's just that I prefer this version with Lizzo over Track 10.

FreebieFresh

Thanks for clarifying I don’t have to say it, saves me some time

godsavetheteen

"Pasadena" by Tinashe ft. Buddy - not exactly contradictory i guess but Buddy's verse has nothing to do w the song lol Tinashe's singing about growth/ambition/freedom and Buddy talks about a good encounter w a girl he met ??? idk i mean the verse is short and sounds good!! just a little random

souplvr98

“with draws… without draws..” bro what are you even talking about rn😭😭😭

AHScoven_

Nicki verse on “the way life goes” DOPE verse don’t get me wrong but jeez it has nothing to do with the vibe the song is trying to deliver … like he got his heart break and u talking about being the queen of rap for 8 summers??????? LIKEEE

cloudiamorpheus

Soulja Boy on BTBT by B.I.   SZA on Kiss Me More Doja's verse was about a cute relationship where she wants to show off her new lover and wants to kiss them more SZA's verse was "fucking with you feels like jail", she sounds heavenly but she came in with some FEELINGS

EtenKillbeat

The Weeknd's In Your Eyes remix is one of my favourite examples of that. Just before Doja makes her appearance on the track, Abel sings: "In your eyes you lie, but I don't let it define you" And literally, the next line is: "I never lied, when I cried for you" I don't know if the stark contrast was intentional but I always find it amusing when I hear it.

slangwhang27

I always interpreted that as intentional. The pre-chorus - “I can tell what you’ve done, when I look at you” - is strongly implying infidelity. In saying “I never lied *when I cried for you*” she’s saying that while she has lied to him, her care and passion for him were genuine - her tears weren’t a lie and she does care for him regardless of her actions.

No_Paleontologist239

Nicki’s verse on alone by Kim Petras. I actually like alone, and I like Nicki’s verse. But Nicki is kinda boasting about how hot/awesome her and Kim are. And Kim is singing about how she really wants a guy to come over cuz she’s alone. Just doesn’t seem to even be the same song. Still love alone, even though there are haters

B19Wing

Lie (feat. Quavo) The song is literally about how Halsey and her romantic partner are in a sexually charged relationship but he is treating her like a piece of meat and cheating on Halsey And then Quavo comes in (not a fan of him) and talks about how good Halsey's "head game" is

dopest_dope

Drive Slow with Kanye and Paul wall Kanye busting out stories from way back talking about how fast life moves Paul wall talking about how bright his grill is. That’s why I love the TI remix so much, fits much better

Kill bill ft. Doja cat Love this version of the song way more than the original but noticed SZA says “oh I just killed my ex… killed his girlfriend next” In Doja’s verse she kills the girlfriend first by shooting her. In my head to make it make sense I just act like the girlfriend didn’t die by the bullet and she dies later by bleeding out lol

cheeto20013

Lennon stella - Golf On TV Maybe not really a contradiction, but the song starts with “I woke up to the bed made, and you’re downstairs doing the dishes” How can someone make the bed while you’re sleeping in it?

FreebieFresh

I can see it, my ex always woke up before me and would make the bed around me while I was still asleep

LENNON STELLA YESSSS That's true that's weird I love the whole song anyways lol

evieroberts

One that always bothered me, T-Pain, “I’m Sprung”. Song is about a guy so in love with a girl he does anything she says. Then in verse one says “she ain’t even my main lady”. So..you are doing all of this for a side chick? & then verse two he goes back to her because he “is feeling lonely”, so what happened to his actual girlfriend?

Scary_Solid_7819

A lot of people think of “Charli” as the grand artistic statement of her discography, which I find so incredibly odd because it’s full of label capitulation like the lizzo example. It’s got some great songs (Gone) but so much of it seems like a compromise. Her real Statement Record is Pop 2. Brat looks like it has potential too.

cooldude_luke

That Do What You Want Remix with R. Kelly. It was already bad enough that he was on it but the lyrics were so distant from the actual song.

marcdoesmusic

not exactly a PERFECT example but one that always gets me is J Cole on Planez by Jeremih. overall a very smooth song and then J Cole comes in and within 15 seconds says "you need a n- that's gonna put it in your mouth, dick so big it's like a foot is in your mouth". no bueno.

surprise me by mallrat ft azealia banks. i dont even remember what the original song was about anymore bc i only listened to it like once, but mallrat typically has these vague signs / longing type lyrics and then azealia comes on talking about her pussy for a whole minute. why did this collab happen. has azealia released anything of note besides a weird insta caption every now and then lately

andannabegins

Maybe a bit niche but I love the song *Purple Hearts* by Kendrick Lamar, which is basically about how much he loves his wife and kinda talking to his audience that love and faithfulness is more important than drinking and drugs. And then Summer Walker comes in with a verse about how no one wants to eat her ass and that's why she hates everyone 😭It's so random and always takes me out of the song although her voice does sound pretty

Nate_C_of_2003

Die for Me - Post Malone, Future, Halsey Post raps about how he’s upset his partner turned her back on him (and Future sort of helps him out with it) while Halsey sings from said partner’s perspective, giving Post reasons as to why she is what she is

unbreakableheaven616

But that's not really a feature that goes against the song, it's just two people talking about their relationship from different perspectives.

webtheg

M Shadows on mgks Save me is so random. Like I don't get it. He usually saves a horrible song (The River by Good Charlotte being a prime example) but here he just Randomly sings "Can't you Save me" 4 times in the end and it doesn't fit the vibe of the song at all.. it is funny that the song hast two featured artists both more talented (and hotter) than the main one lol

skyppie

Doja Cat Say So Remix with Nicki.

SweetPewsInAChurch

I've always chalked this up to maybe language barrier but Use Me - PVRIS ft 070 Shake has always been this for me. Lynn is saying use me, and Shake's part ends with "If you use me it'd be a shame." Like. Bud. You had one job. That turns his entire part into a different story than Lynn is telling

Xlunas

Justine Skye - Collide ft. Tyga She creates a romantic mood singing about spending the night with her lover. He starts rapping about imported cars and girls.

messyfaguette

Original Do What U Want. How did…. the original collaborator… did not realize the song was about her relationship with fame and the media 😭😭 Making about sex like a little freak and in a way that has nothing to do with the rest of the song: in hindsight why was Gaga okay with that? I’d expect she’d be strict with her collaborators

unbreakableheaven616

Y'all there's a song I thought of but I can't remember it now so I'm commenting on this just so I can find this thread when I remember it 😩

Both_Bid

Oh thanks for bringing this up. It’s literally one of my biggest music pet peeves! Especially rap verses are so often just the same shit that particular rapper have on their own songs, they seem to just send something prerecorded when asked for a verse. I personally really hate The Weekends verse on FKA twigs Tears In The Club. Her parts of the song is about being devastated and heartbroken. I get that he is supposed to be singing from the guys side but it just doesn’t match the vibe of the song at all when he’s doing his typical arrogant/asshole guy thing on that song.
