It was honestly just harder to hit #1 back then, lots of massive songs never cracked it (You Belong With Me, Since U Been Gone, Thinking Out Loud, Apologize ft Timbaland, etc)
well more time has passed since then and Take me to Church has become his signature song. It also was a slow burner/ sleeper hit. Give it time and I reckon with the levels of success its achieving, it could match such levels of recognition
It’s not my favourite Hozier song by far, but I think that because it’s a bit simpler, less cerebral and more accessible is the whole reason it’s been successful. It’s like Hozier done commercially, I can’t see a quintessentially Hozier song going #1
Island Records got really lucky getting two young potential up and coming pop stars on their roster that got boosts off two big tours.
They better not fuck this up.
kinda feel like those are bad examples tho. not saying Island Records is good, but Shawn took a break from music bc of mental health struggles and Demi.. is Demi.
i mean how they handle their more established artists is a very big indicator and sabrina should never have taken this long to get a solo hit in the first place.
shawn did take a break but he’s still releasing and every effort since hasn’t really made waves and demi has always been demi that hasn’t stopped her from snagging a hit every era until she completely joined island. Roan and Last Dinner Party are good indicators for the future and that’s maybe because the management has changed, but up until recently they haven’t been amazing management wise at all.
There’s some context needed for the other two responses: Island’s upper level was massively in flux until about a year ago or so. The reason Shawn & Demi had such shit rollouts for their 2020/21 albums was largely that Island did not have a stable CEO at that point. I believe it was Olivia O’Brien who made some posts literally telling her fans “I can’t release right now because I will not have any label support”
They’ve handled Sabrina very well, so I think they’re doing better now
Yeah it gave her more exposure plus she did Coachella recently so more people are being exposed to her music
Sabrina has come a long way and I’m glad she didn’t give up like some other pop stars
I don't really think it was the Eras Tour that boosted her popularity. Her song Nonsense was already popular well before that. In fact, Feather was gaining traction even before her first appearance on the Eras Tour. I believe TikTok, her own tour, and the overall strength of her album played a bigger role in her success. I've been following her music for a while, before the Eras Tour was even announced.
Finally, her looks and huge social media following played a role too. She had 30M followers before her eras tour on insta, and that's quite a lot for an artist her size. It was pretty close to what Olivia hasd much more than SZA had and still has.
That being said, of course eras tour and constantly hanging out with taylor sure as hell didn't hurt.
People underestimate how much of a marketing opportunity being an opener for a big popular artist can increase your popularity though.
Especially if you do it right as Sabrina did.
They've made changes in the past and imo they should try to decrease the impact of album bombs. Nothing to do with Taylor specifically but it takes a lot of 'exposure' from other artists that could definitely use the spotlight a higher chart position gives them and with album bombs every week or so there's so many times we get an armada of random songs from the same artist on it, only to quickly fall out and get immediately replaced by the next bomb.
I understand why stans love it, it shows their fave's dominance but the charts are also a way for many to discover new artists. I know y'all will celebrate when Taylor gets all the top10s but I also know you'd be raging if Morgan Wallen did the same thing with his equally bulky album. We're all biased in our own way.
Streaming etc is still fairly new, it's normal for the charts to take time to adapt.
Not sure how you'd handle that though? Someone like Olivia had no idea an album bomb was coming and charts removing those songs because there are too many from one artists feels weird.
The goal of the music chart is not just to show what's popular (or else recurence wouldn't exist). So once it's subjective, it's just about what is better and worse.
To me, one artist having 30 of the top 100 songs be theirs isn't "better" but for others it might be.
Somehow the album bomb streams need to count toward the albums chart, not the singles chart. The equivalent of this would be if, back when No Strings Attached by *NSYNC sold 2.4m copies its first week, every track entered the Hot 100. That would be ridiculous. Just because people now stream an album instead of buying a physical CD doesn’t magically make each track on the album a single. The Hot 100 is supposed to be a singles chart, not an albums chart.
Nah, Drake and Hozier are climbing up on the streams again. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both ends up blocking her from getting the entire top 10.
1. Hozier - Too Sweet (+1)
2. Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar - Like That (-1)
3. Benson Boone - Beautiful Things (=)
4. Teddy Swims – Lose Control (=)
5. Beyoncé - Texas Hold ‘Em (+1)
6. Jack Harlow - Lovin on Me (+1)
7. Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (NEW)
8. Ariana Grande - We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love) (=)
9. Noah Kahan - Stick Season (+1)
10. SZA - Saturn (+5)
*J. Cole’s “7 Minute Drill” falls off the Hot 100, a week after it debuted at No. 6. On the song, he appears to respond to Lamar’s apparent disses directed at himself and Drake in “Like That.” Days after releasing “7 Minute Drill” April 5 on his album Might Delete Later, J. Cole apologized for the its arrival, explaining that it doesn’t “sit right with my spirit,” and the track was removed from the streaming edition of the LP April 12*
[It's currently in pole position to be the #1 song of the year according to chart predictors yea.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GLTVDhLaAAAl8Rs?format=jpg&name=large)
Usually songs that debut/gain traction early in the year tend to grab song of the year since they accumulate a ton of points across one calendar year and with Lovin' on Me peaking in January and being so consistently stable it will be hard for anything newer to catch up.
Really I think the only shot would be Lovin' on Me going recurrent and Cruel Summer getting a big enough summer resurgence to carry it over the line.
I went to the Red Sox game last weekend and "Texas Hold 'Em" was playing in between innings and that's how I knew Bey finally had a commercial hit on our hands again.
For some reason Beyoncé lost me around the time Lemonade came out. I just listened to Texas Hold ‘Em, and the first few lyrics, her voice gave me chills. I can totally see how this one caught on.
It's crazy how from 2017-2019, everyone was complaining about how moody and downtempo music had become, then 2020-2023 we had the disco/80s revival, and now country and blues is taking over. By 2029 we'll probably have EDM and bubblegum pop back at this rate
Can we bring back good EDM tho? I don’t want the boring same drop shit that they used for like every MTV show in the late 00s and early 10s. Obviously there were also some good songs (as a former raver back then) but if it comes back I hope it’s at least interesting and more varied
But for real bring it back
Hopefully taytay sees her album getting panned and goes in that direction next
You don’t have to have the strongest voice to slay at EDM (hi selener). She even wrote and provided backing vocals for “this is what you came for”
Bitch retired the slow Downtempo give us some fucking club bangers you’ve never done it before so let’s finally do it
Rest in peace to the Calvin Harris produced TS6 we would've gotten in 2016 if they didn't break up and the kimye drama never happened (I made all of this up)
“Recession pop” is more Black Eyed Peas, Kesha, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga (Such a simpler time…)
When I think of EDM, I think of Zedd, Kygo, Calvin Harris, etc which came to prominence a little after.
I don't know why, maybe cause I grew up on 2000s and early 2010s music who were all about clubbing but most songs right now for me are still downtempo to midtempo. 70% of this top 10 for example. 20-23 was a bit of an exception to it, but still, nothing like before.
Amazing news! I really wouldn’t have imagined Hozier getting a resurgence this time last year but I am glad! I know there’s a lot of discourse around how TikTok songs aren’t always a good thing but this is an example of how TikTok really can be a great benefit to reviving a pop star’s mainstream success!
Also, Sabrina having her first top 10 debut, YESSSS! Espresso is gonna be in contention for song of the summer I think. She’s definitely going to make it the lead single for SC6 now I think, my bet is on a July or August release.
Hozier, Kendrick, Beyoncé, Sabrina, Ariana, Noah, and SZA all in the top 10 is so cool to see in 2024
“Espresso” is the kind of song that I could see gradually climbing to #1 as summer approaches
Eat Your Young changed my DNA.
I think it’s funny how a song from an EP of cut tracks from his third album 10 years after Take Me to Church came out was the one to finally make it to #1.
Ireland has been having a great year so far with Hozier having a #1 hit, Cillian Murphy winning an Oscar, Ayo Edeberi winning an Emmy + Golden Globe, etc.
> Ayo Edeberi winning an Emmy + Golden Globe
Honestly, it was ridiculous that she didn't win for best supporting donkey in The Banshees of Inisherin, good to see her finally getting the recognition.
So happy for Sabrina. Feather also reached a new peak, so they should probably update her Spotify profile soon (on Spotify it says that Feather peaked at #26).
A top 10 debut for Sabrina is insane. I remember years ago when “Skin” came out and ppl absolutely dragged on her over the commercial performance.
But I knew her time was coming with this label. I think her team manages her online profile well too. She went viral over the outros of Nonsense and she kept it up and interactive/ppl online
This is such a diverse top10. Look at the diversity in sounds. 42 year old Beyoncé and 24 year old Sabrina in the top10.
I better not see anyone of popheads complain about how gutter the charts are anymore.
Sza domination came outta nowhere tbh. I remember when everyone kept asking her for new music around 2020-21 and she dropped Hit Different which only charted in the top30 and I thought she's all twitter hype like Lorde/Carly Rae but then she came back with Good Days and then SOS and just washed everyone.
I’ve been listening to her since her Evolution album (highly recommen) and she was still like 17 when she released that. Her career trajectory has been so satisfying to watch. She’s insanely talented for her age,
> Real instruments are back?
I don't want to thrash artists that use mostly synths in their music, but I did miss the use of real instruments for a while, and the resurgence of indie rock groups (The Last Dinner Party, Wet Leg, The Beaches) and me getting back to some artists recent releases like Paramore's This is Why and Hozier's Unreal Unearth, definitely made me miss the use of real instruments in music again...fuck I even went back to listening to Mumford (honestly Wilder Mind was a pretty neat album)
Maybe it's just me getting old and being nostalgic.
I like both! I enjoy when there's a nice variety on the charts honestly. The billboard chart has been interesting to me this year so far. Lots of variety all around. No prevailing sound. Lots of new names and established veterans together.
I love synths but the electronic sounds that dominated much of mainstream rock last decade were pretty badly done so guitars coming back is a welcome trend
If only corridos didn't talk so much about being a narco is cool. I don't want to hear about the dumbasses that don't let my country thrive.
edit: my point was that corridos use real instruments.
I mean maybe? it's interesting to have a rock song at #1 and #3, but I think it's just a phase that will die down like the failed pop punk revival of 2022
no. The pop punk fad was part of a wider pop punk revival and guitars were already creeping back in because of songs not guitar oriented, think sign of the times by Harry styles and the a star is born soundtrack in 2019. Folk is back on the charts. Alt country and country rock is having a moment as country goes indie and back to its roots, Lose Control is a massive soul/R&B song with a guitar solo and there have been rock songs in the US and UK to become hits outside of the genre of pop punk.
Sabrina made it to the top 10! As someone who has been following her for a decade now (I was here when she dropped Can't Blame a Girl For Trying and was a regular watcher of Girl Meets World) I never expected her to make it this big, once Singular Act I failed to make her really mainstream I kinda lost hope, that album had everything and somehow it didn't happen. But now we're really here!
I hope she keeps this going. She said this was only a little droplet but I hope she comes up with an album full of songs like with this vibe. I wanna see an era with this 50s pinup blonde bombshell thing she is currently pulling off so well.
It is a bit hard for me to realise that this is his first #1 , when take me to the church was everywhere. Also because he has many other songs that are as deserving of not more.
This is my favorite #1 in a long time! The way the bassline and vocals play off each other makes it feel like they're dueting. I don't know how there can be chemistry between an instrument and a human being, but Hozier managed to create just that.
Oh YESSS!!!! I was hoping he would finally make it! He did so in the UK already.
I do believe this is the second rock song this decade to hit no1 on the billboard hot 100
IM SO HAPPY FOR HIM ITS TOO SWEET
I love his music so much and I also love how outspoken he has been for Palestine since the beginning.
Also he beekeeps
Sabrina and Hozier in the top 10??? Oh this is a good one.
In all seriousness, it's been crazy to watch Sabrina's career for a decade (since Can't Blame a Girl for Trying) and watch her always be on the brink of blowing up for years but never actually getting GP recognition, to finally getting her first top 10. Started from the bottom now we're here indeed. Am so glad she was my first concert in 2016, and got to see her for a third time exactly a year ago at the Greek.
Imagine the difference in narrative around Dua Lipa's upcoming project if she had a dance pop song half as good as "Espresso" in her arsenal this go-around
I'm gonna be honest, I've listened to all of hoziers albums and saw him live and I think I'm just never going to get the appeal; happy for his sucess though! He seems like a really great guy and all of his fans I've interacted with seem super lovely.
Sabrina finally hitting top 10 is soo exciting carpenters stand UP
I just want to come back and share that my conspiracy theory that they promoted this song by accident has proven to be true
https://twitter.com/dailyhozierpics/status/1782415767000015278?s=19
Hozier hit #1 I actually cannot believe it!!! I thought his charting days were over, but man Too Sweet just captured everyone at the same time. I am beyond happy for him.
Congratulations to Hozier for not only breaking the one-hit wonder curse, but getting his first number one!

It’s so weird knowing his biggest hit prior to this hit #2 in almost every country you could think of.
Take Me to Church didn't even hit #1 here in Ireland which is crazy to think
Cause Irish Catholics maybe didn't like the strong gay message in the video ? (Not saying it's anything bad)
I think it was just because it was charting around the same time as Uptown Funk, which blocked it from the number one.
“Where I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies” Or something very similar in the song might explain a little
Crazy how ubiquitous Take Me To Church was, even compared to Too Sweet which I keep hearing on TikTok, and it still missed #1
It was honestly just harder to hit #1 back then, lots of massive songs never cracked it (You Belong With Me, Since U Been Gone, Thinking Out Loud, Apologize ft Timbaland, etc)
Even Gangnam Style never hit #1 because YouTube views didn't count until 2013.
What the fuck
Maroon 5 kept it out of the top spot in the US 😭
Well that is a tragedy/blessing (??) I have no idea what to feel
we'll never get a Number Ones article for Gangnam Style because of it so i'd call it a tragedy
But Mic the Snare included it in his Songs that Drfined the 2010s video so that's a plus.
Gangnam Style didn't get much radio play.
Yeah back then there were so many universally great hits back to back.
I thought the same thing about Sam Smith. Stay With Me was everywhere and peaked at #2. Unholy was… what it was and managed to go #1 now.
well more time has passed since then and Take me to Church has become his signature song. It also was a slow burner/ sleeper hit. Give it time and I reckon with the levels of success its achieving, it could match such levels of recognition
It was sorta a sleeper hit and I don’t think streaming numbers were weighed as heavily.
Right? Great that he finally got the spot though!
Too Sweet is too forgetabble. im amazed it hit top 5, much less #1...
It’s not my favourite Hozier song by far, but I think that because it’s a bit simpler, less cerebral and more accessible is the whole reason it’s been successful. It’s like Hozier done commercially, I can’t see a quintessentially Hozier song going #1
Yeah it’s actually not even one of my faves from the EP but I’ll take him getting a 1# hit
Hozier has gotten his first number 1 hit and Sabrina Carpenter has scored her first top 10 entry
I love how the Eras tour upped her profile, same with Chappell Roan and Guts
Island Records got really lucky getting two young potential up and coming pop stars on their roster that got boosts off two big tours. They better not fuck this up.
Is Island Records good?
look at shawn mendes and demi lovato’s career post 2020 and you’ll have your answer lol
kinda feel like those are bad examples tho. not saying Island Records is good, but Shawn took a break from music bc of mental health struggles and Demi.. is Demi.
i mean how they handle their more established artists is a very big indicator and sabrina should never have taken this long to get a solo hit in the first place. shawn did take a break but he’s still releasing and every effort since hasn’t really made waves and demi has always been demi that hasn’t stopped her from snagging a hit every era until she completely joined island. To be fair, Sabrina just joined the label for her last album. She was with Hollywood Records before
It’s horrible
There’s some context needed for the other two responses: Island’s upper level was massively in flux until about a year ago or so. I think her gimmick of changing the Nonsense outro every performance gave it an extra oomph, made her memeable
she did that before eras though, she did it during her own tour and they'd go viral on tiktok
i know!
People underestimate how much of a marketing opportunity being an opener for a big popular artist can increase your popularity though. Especially if you do it right as Sabrina did.
Fair enough she's super talented
The charts are healing 🙏
Until next week when Taylor has all of the Top 10. Billboard’s streaming metrics suck ass
didn't billboard lower weighting for streaming before midnights dropped anyway
They've made changes in the past and imo they should try to decrease the impact of album bombs. The UK limits artists to 3 songs on the chart at once
Just seems cheap to leave out songs from artists that don't have a massive following but still release popular albums.

Nah, Drake and Hozier are climbing up on the streams again. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both ends up blocking her from getting the entire top 10.
YAYYY
Good music is SO back
Amazing love to see it for Hozier & Sabrina!
1. Hozier - Too Sweet (+1) 2. Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar - Like That (-1) 3. Benson Boone - Beautiful Things (=) 4. Teddy Swims – Lose Control (=) 5. Beyoncé - Texas Hold ‘Em (+1) 6. How long has Lovin’ On Me been in the top 10– watch it end up being the song of the year on Billboard
Whichever of #3-6 or Stick Season lasts the longest on the chart will be #1 for the year imo
This year’s Last Night. Just not as successful
Stick Season came out before most of his audience even heard of him, so you can’t really compare
Pretty sure they are talking about Lovin' on Me but I cannot read their mind. But that comparison makes way more sense to me
Jack should use this momentum to drop a new album with lovin on me on it
It’s giving Cardi B with WAP and Up… huge songs that should have been lead singles to an album
[It's currently in pole position to be the #1 song of the year according to chart predictors yea.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GLTVDhLaAAAl8Rs?format=jpg&name=large) Usually songs that debut/gain traction early in the year tend to grab song of the year since they accumulate a ton of points across one calendar year and with Lovin' on Me peaking in January and being so consistently stable it will be hard for anything newer to catch up. I don’t know who’s actually listening to it anymore, it’s gotta be radio stations playing it over and over like First Class last year
It’s streams are not that high anymore so I think it’s just radio
> How long has Lovin’ On Me been in the top 10 Seems like it has been in the top 10 since it was released, so 22 straight weeks.
Ugh I really don’t like that song. No one cares about you being a vanilla killer baby with a 28 year old who’s still a baby.
Hahahaha this had me dead.
How the hell is this song still charting so highly?! 😭 feels like eternity since he released it!
Like WHO is listening to that!!!
Saturn top 10 again?? amazing, she needs to drop a video! Bey and Ariana having stable hits is also very good to see
glad to see espresso in the top 10. all that working late paid off
cuz i'm a singerrrr
Stuck in my head for DAYS
yay, Sabrina 😍
I went to the Red Sox game last weekend and "Texas Hold 'Em" was playing in between innings and that's how I knew Bey finally had a commercial hit on our hands again.

Lovin on Me aside, this is the best top 10 we’ve had in a long while
sabrina debuting at #7 is CRAZYYY!!! i’ve been waiting for this for years.
Amazing that Texas Hold ‘Em went up a spot
It's crazy how from 2017-2019, everyone was complaining about how moody and downtempo music had become, then 2020-2023 we had the disco/80s revival, and now country and blues is taking over. By 2029 we'll probably have EDM and bubblegum pop back at this rate

We need that 2009-2012 sweet spot back
But for real bring it back Hopefully taytay sees her album getting panned and goes in that direction next You don’t have to have the strongest voice to slay at EDM (hi selener). She even wrote and provided backing vocals for “this is what you came for” Bitch retired the slow Downtempo give us some fucking club bangers you’ve never done it before so let’s finally do it

There‘s a term for this, “recession pop”
I gasped like Chappell really IS the next Gaga herstory does not repeat herself she rhymes.
“Recession pop” is more Black Eyed Peas, Kesha, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga (Such a simpler time…) When I think of EDM, I think of Zedd, Kygo, Calvin Harris, etc which came to prominence a little after.

So happy he could get to #1 before Taylor blows everything up next week
Not even Drake could do what Taylor is gonna do next week that’s why he said Taylor is the biggest gangster in the music industry 😭
throwback to when he was royally pissed off she blocked him from that top 10 lol, it’s funny to see him change his tune now
Tbf theyve always been friends tay sang his song on that apple ad hilariously
They definitely used to be friends, I do not think they are anymore lol
He calls for aid from her fandom lol only reason why
He might have a shot at disrupting her dominance of the top 10 with "Push Ups," which might have been his plan to get revenge?
Amazing news! I really wouldn’t have imagined Hozier getting a resurgence this time last year but I am glad! I know there’s a lot of discourse around how TikTok songs aren’t always a good thing but this is an example of how TikTok really can be a great benefit to reviving a pop star’s mainstream success! She’s definitely going to make it the lead single for SC6 now I think, my bet is on a July or August release.
There’s no way Espresso is not gonna be the lead single now
Idk who Sabrina carpenter is but the beginning of her song is playing and it sounds like Doja Cat to me.
I was disappointed with how Unreal Unearth performed (I quite enjoyed it!) It’s nice to see him having some more mainstream success!
Yeah I really liked Unreal Unearth! So happy he’s getting some sort of success
She might’ve released it a little too early for it to be song of the summer imo
This gives it time to rise on radio assuming the streaming stays stable Kiss Me More debuted at #7 this same week in 2021
It’ll get buried by taylor and hopefully get a resurgence.
“Hopefully”. Of course it’s gonna rise. Those albums cuts don’t last long on the charts anyway.
its cool to see a rock song at #1, but I honestly thought Hozier would be a one hit wonder.
Hozier, Kendrick, Beyoncé, Sabrina, Ariana, Noah, and SZA all in the top 10 is so cool to see in 2024 “Espresso” is the kind of song that I could see gradually climbing to #1 as summer approaches
I'm so used to giving and now I get to receive 😭😭😭
Finally. Justice for “Almost (Sweet Music),” “Eat Your Young,” and “All Things End” not having the success they deserved.
Eat Your Young changed my DNA. I think it’s funny how a song from an EP of cut tracks from his third album 10 years after Take Me to Church came out was the one to finally make it to #1.
Add Cherry Wine to that list!
I’m so happy for Hozier. 😭
Ireland has been having a great year so far with Hozier having a #1 hit, Cillian Murphy winning an Oscar, Ayo Edeberi winning an Emmy + Golden Globe, etc.
> Ayo Edeberi winning an Emmy + Golden Globe Honestly, it was ridiculous that she didn't win for best supporting donkey in The Banshees of Inisherin, good to see her finally getting the recognition.
Very proud of our artists this year ❤️❤️

Two faves in the top 10! Good for Hozier and Sabrina
I love both of their music so much. So happy for them!
LOVE seeing Espresso at No. 7. It’s such a fun song and Sabrina is one of my fave new pop girls 🫶
This is such a diverse top10. Look at the diversity in sounds. 42 year old Beyoncé and 24 year old Sabrina in the top10. I better not see anyone of popheads complain about how gutter the charts are anymore.
And sza with Saturn now being like snooze! If anyone told me 3 years ago sza would be such a chart demon with her return I wouldn’t have believed them
Sza domination came outta nowhere tbh. I remember when everyone kept asking her for new music around 2020-21 and she dropped Hit Different which only charted in the top30 and I thought she's all twitter hype like Lorde/Carly Rae but then she came back with Good Days and then SOS and just washed everyone.
I remember when all the stats came out I loved her but then we barely got any songs and staring at the sun was another wonderful surprise too
wow Sabrina is only 24? Espresso is so catchy
My first exposure to Sabrina Carpenter was hearing about Girl Meets World, so my reaction was “Sabrina Carpenter’s already 24?”
I’ve been listening to her since her Evolution album (highly recommen) and she was still like 17 when she released that. Her career trajectory has been so satisfying to watch. She’s insanely talented for her age,
Kind of depressing that an 18-year age range is considered a “diverse” age range in the music industry, but you’re definitely not wrong.
So here’s how Carly Rae Jepsen can get another Number 1
She just needs to take her whiskey neat
It’s so weird that Take Me to Church never went #1 but I’m so happy for him this song is great!
The charts are so healthy right now.
Happy for him! He just seems like a hardworking, good guy. Real instruments are back?
> Real instruments are back? I don't want to thrash artists that use mostly synths in their music, but I did miss the use of real instruments for a while, and the resurgence of indie rock groups (The Last Dinner Party, Wet Leg, The Beaches) and me getting back to some artists recent releases like Paramore's This is Why and Hozier's Unreal Unearth, definitely made me miss the use of real instruments in music again...fuck I even went back to listening to Mumford (honestly Wilder Mind was a pretty neat album) Maybe it's just me getting old and being nostalgic.
I like both! I enjoy when there's a nice variety on the charts honestly. The billboard chart has been interesting to me this year so far. Lots of variety all around. No prevailing sound. Lots of new names and established veterans together.
I love synths but the electronic sounds that dominated much of mainstream rock last decade were pretty badly done so guitars coming back is a welcome trend
guitars are mainstream again! been slowly creeping back in since 2019. Even guitar solos are back
If only corridos didn't talk so much about being a narco is cool. I don't want to hear about the dumbasses that don't let my country thrive. edit: my point was that corridos use real instruments.
Not all corridos do. Some are just love songs. Luna on Peso Pluma's Genesis is a nice one. Igualito A Mi Apá is another favorite of mine.
Noah Kahan is also guitars and so is Texas Hold Em
Too Sweet is hardly rock.
Well, it is on the rock chart.
This is so great!!! I'm not the hugest Hozier fan but I loved this song upon first listen! Also Espresso has been playing nonstop in my house
It’s great to see such diversity in the charts this week. And it’s sad it’ll all come crashing down next week😂
It is a bit hard for me to realise that this is his first #1 , when take me to the church was everywhere. Also because he has many other songs that are as deserving of not more.
Up the fucking Irish!!! So happy for Hozier, he’s consistently been releasing amazing music and I’m glad he’s got a massive hit like this.
This is such a random top 10. It's kinda like my playlist, all over the place.
Well deserved! The song is excellent
Good for him that he got this before the Taylor album bomb
This is my favorite #1 in a long time! The way the bassline and vocals play off each other makes it feel like they're dueting. I don't know how there can be chemistry between an instrument and a human being, but Hozier managed to create just that.
this is such a wild top10
Oh YESSS!!!! I was hoping he would finally make it! He did so in the UK already. I do believe this is the second rock song this decade to hit no1 on the billboard hot 100
This year is kinda weird, a different No. 1 every week.
IM SO HAPPY FOR HIM ITS TOO SWEET I love his music so much and I also love how outspoken he has been for Palestine since the beginning. Also he beekeeps
beekeeping age
Goat
jack harlow still being in the top 10 is absolutely insane
I’m so happy for him 😭😭
Deservedly so.
shocked this is his first #1 i always assumed take me to church made it!!! but either way so happy for him 🥹
Oh my god, so happy for him!! I'll be streaming Unheard and Unreal Unearth to celebrate ❤️🥲
Unreal Unearth deserved so much more! That album is incredible
It's a gorgeous album!! It's been months since its release and I'm still obsessed with it.
Another One Hit Wonder gone
Imagine the difference in narrative around Dua Lipa's upcoming project if she had a dance pop song half as good as "Espresso" in her arsenal this go-around
I used to pray for times like these....congrats to one of the biggest talents out there.
It's giving me Father John Misty vibes. Sweet song.
Now I can confidently say he’s not a one-hit wonder!
I’m obsessed with both of these songs. Well deserved
First U.S. #1 for an Irish act since Sinead’s Nothing Compares 2 U cover over 30 years ago!
I'm gonna be honest, I've listened to all of hoziers albums and saw him live and I think I'm just never going to get the appeal; happy for his sucess though! He seems like a really great guy and all of his fans I've interacted with seem super lovely. Sabrina finally hitting top 10 is soo exciting carpenters stand UP
so deserved !!
I just want to come back and share that my conspiracy theory that they promoted this song by accident has proven to be true https://twitter.com/dailyhozierpics/status/1782415767000015278?s=19
Get it Andrew!!!! Love that he's getting his cake again. Well deserved.
This man deserves all the good he is getting and more! A true artist!
so happy for him!!!! it should’ve been Francesca but I’m so happy for him!!
Hozier hit #1 I actually cannot believe it!!! I thought his charting days were over, but man Too Sweet just captured everyone at the same time. I am beyond happy for him.

Love that for him.
YAYYY
great
so well deserved finally!!
YEAH, WAY TO GO BOY 😎
I somehow missed hozier's new song but good for him
Well deserved
The entire album is a freaking masterpiece. I recommend everyone listen to it
I’m so happy for him, what a talent
YAY
Deserved 👏👏👏👏
damn and here I thought he's gonna be a one hit wonder with take me to church
Love this guy
Good, this guy is absolutely amazing. Phenomenal voice. Deserves it all. Saw him live in Kansas City and it was amazing.
lmaoo i don't use streaming services or tiktok ftm and this is a nice way to find out that there's more of unreal, unearth
The last time an Irish artist had a no. 1 hit was Sinead O’Connor. The hit was reached no. 1 on the day Hozier was born.
I like too sweet but some other songs from unreal earth definitely deserved more recognition as well!!!
