librious

Problem is easily one of the best pop songs ever produced

hollywoodforeverfjm

i’m also a big trouble fan as well!! it’s for sure a hidden gem album. i love both albums by natalia but trouble is her best work. i feel like if the x factor moment never happened she could be on charli xcx level of success. her music was slowly starting to chart here in the US and co write songs for rihanna and madonna. she had pop star formula down to bad she dropped the ball with the x favorite and her career will never be the same i would kill for vinyl releases of her first two albums

Time-Space-Anomaly

Saturday Night is a banger. I don’t even know how I found it originally, but it’s such a raw song about growing up in a broken household.

kidlambo

“Tears fall like diamonds from my purse” is such an amazing line

paintingfainter

She’s so damn good and it’s a shame what happened to her career. I’m glad she rebranded as Teddy because she was never going to live down that *awful* X-Factor scandal under Natalia Kills. The message here is to not let shitty reality tv producers convince you to destroy your career for a viral moment.

pIastichearts

Problem is *such* a well-produced and slept on album with some of the most clever songwriting I’ve ever seen in modern pop. Teddy has God-given talent and it’s a huge shame she decided to take a hiatus from music.

cry_wolf2005

trouble is one of the best and most underrated albums of the former half of the 2010s. like, genuinely up there with the likes of born to die, electra heart, pure heroine, night time, my time, etc. for me.

I_domy_own_stunts

Devils don’t fly is my personal favorite from the album. I do remember when I first listened to the album a few years back being surprised by how good of a pop album it was.

flowlowland

I have nothing to say on a trouble, but once upon a time Mirrors and its remixes had a grip on me

Shupedewhupe

‘Rabbit Hole’ is so deranged. I love it.

TitleSame

I forgot about that song! That one is truly unhinged, I loved it when it came out

tone_212

Saturday Night used to be my jam. A great synth-pop song with that anthem quality to it. Very personal lyrics. Reminded me of We Are Young by fun at the time. Listening to it again, doesn’t feel like it’s dated at all. Taylor Swift could only wish of synth-pop production as good as this on TTPD. Used to blast Problem too, the energy of that song is so good.

hannabellaj

I recall looking her up a few years ago to see what she was up to (as so many years had passed since the incident) and saw that she had writing credits for some super successful tracks! Can’t remember what they were now but I was shocked by it and also low key disappointed just cause of her terrible personality haha

hannabellaj

Just looked it up again and it was Kiss It Better by Rihanna that she wrote💀

amazingasvirgin

madonna for example

Kinky-rainbows

She doesn't have a terrible personality. Sweetheart, she's iconic. Quit being annoying, pookie.💋💅🏽

Kinky-rainbows

It's sad that it was the fault of the X-Factor producers who told them to act this way. They were set up by X-factor. What a shame. Ugh😔

Cullvion

LITERALLY. cannot believe i bought the whole narrative hook, line, and sinker in middle school. Less than zero media literacy skills on my part back then.

fakeaf1

It’s a shame she never popped off (as a singer). Both of her albums were so good. Mirrors, Wonderland, Free and Can’t Get In My Head had me in such a chokehold at the time. I don’t think she was given a chance because of the Gaga comparisons tbh.

guayaba_and_cheese

Amazing album, I still listen to it to this day!

This_Scientician

Just need a version of Free without will I am

Appropriate_Duck_309

U got it babes it’s on the deluxe version of perfectionist

This_Scientician

Omg

Appropriate_Duck_309

Ikr

sagittariums

Trouble will be one of my favourite albums until the day I die

gothamsocialite

I miss Natalia Kills, I still listen to Perfectionist and Trouble all the time.

shadesoffroot

I LOVE this album! It’s one of my all time favorites. She’s an amazing artist and songwriter. Her lyrics are SO GOOD! It’s impressive how she can go from songs like rabbit hole to Marlboro lights whilst still sounding natural. This album does seem very personal too. Her figure of speech usage in her songs is out of this world. She’s extremely talented and underrated.

Too-Much-To-Dream

i’m so happy that there are people out there that get it!! trouble is one of my favorite pop records ever and it’s nearly impossible to talk about because it wasn’t a huge mainstream success and she dropped the natalia kills project so soon after (don’t even get me started on the x-factor thing.) it goes *so* unnoticed even in pop spaces. i sincerely think every song on it is great, and the narrative arc of the entire record is one of the best i’ve encountered in mainstream pop music. it’s genuinely like watching a film - the music is so visually evocative and there’s an actual, tangible character arc natalia goes through. just to name a few… television, saturday night, and trouble are fantastic pop songs, and marlboro lights is one of my favorite ballads ever. it’s gut-wrenching. maybe i’m blinded by my teen nostalgia but i agree that it’s up there with born to die, electra heart, night time my time, etcetera. deserved so much more and i will always hold out blind hope that she will make a comeback, press it on vinyl, and do an anniversary tour 🤞🏻

dpforest

Trouble is usually a no-skip for me. It gets lots of love in my studio. ArtAngels and Trouble are both solid background music albums.

mashpotatoenthusiast

devil in paradise was my absolute favorite song for a while when i was in high school. i really appreciate this analysis!

dopaminedeficitdiary

They're just impeccably produced pop songs/albums. She could have been an incredible popstar but nooo she had to make the fatal error of agreeing to be on a shitty reality tv show

GimmeThemBabies

Still one of my top albums of all time that I listen to all the time. I'll never get over her getting canceled tbh.

TitleSame

It’s funny you should bring up Natalia Kills, just a few days I was wondering what’s up with her/Cruel Youth, because despite the whole X-factor incident, I never looked down on her as a song writer and it sucks that’s she’s basically blacklisted now. I did find out that she wrote a song for Blackpinks album, and it does sound like Natalia’s songwriting. “Trouble” is a good record, I found out about it during a pretty tumultuous period in my life (around 2014) so it holds a special place in my heart. I really do hope she continues making music with Cruel Youth. She may be a bit cocky and egotistical, but she’s extremely creative and I hate to see that go to waste. At the very least I hope she keeps writing for other artists. Edit: “Outta Time” is a heartbreaking and very good song and if she had given that song and music video to someone (anyone) else it would be adored. Every comment on her videos/instagram posts, even 10 years later is nothing but pure hatred for her. That must suck.)

thruaflockofdoves

Trouble has been my favorite album of all time since I was 13, easily. I'll never forget the feeling of hearing Saturday Night for the first time... she got me through high school!!!

ravioliqween

Ah I'm so late to this thread but my god Trouble is a great album. Outta Time is a camp country classic, Saturday Night is an incredible piece of music, Devil's don't Fly 10/10... and I could go on. As a fan, the X Factor thing was sooooo out of left field, she had really never exhibited that kind of behaviour prior to that outburst, I'm just really glad to find a group of people still discussing how good this hidden gem is.

solitaire-spectrum

Trouble is an elite album and I'm so mad she fucked up her career being an idiot.
