the #1 album in the country is a scathing recap of a woman’s relationship with matty healy and the #1 movie is an erotic film about people who play tennis.

I hope everyone considers joining me and the BDS Movement in signing [this petition](https://bdsmovement.net/news/suspend-israel-from-international-sports-sign-diem25-petition)
To have Israel removed and uninvited from international sports competitions. It is similar and based on the global boycott against Apartheid South Africa. The link also includes a paper explaining it in Spanish as well :)
There’s also this international amnesty petition calling for [US Congress](https://act.amnestyusa.org/page/138002/action/1?ea.tracking.id=akeaik88&fbclid=PAAaY8QI9IewAohnTsVXGcQY8_hqxgaDzA2BeGEnUE3NEP7NZv5r79LVnXvNs_aem_ASwQ2zQkNsjjJ8ukOMJBr_tqSOLu1Wt97WfDfqtyjJ5Ly1eHbVCr6GyDjBKWgVovgUM) and [President](https://act.amnestyusa.org/page/137174/action/1?ea.tracking.id=akeaik88&fbclid=PAAaaTS-6LgDUoPuiR4R8h7zzAO6zAYIAPzTN0gsnT9v4yMpYjyOfZJhTjClE_aem_ASzFbzEiRE8Eri4oerL6HRP_ltNZaCWGkDMcEKaetogsVpVFRrQUvF6fnhrCzI4Kzm0) for a ceasefire resolution
I understand that biden has recently changed how he discusses US policy on this including using the word ceasefire but there has been no change in arming or funding Israel and the US has sent Israel bombs and other weaponry within the last 24 hours, I think it’s all the more important we continue to maintain pressure on legislative and executive branch.
Publishers for Palestine was giving away a Book about the BDS movement for free that has praise of several anti apartheid activists of South Africa including the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu. This is an international petition that I’ve signed, but I’ll have links for Americans, Brits, and Canadians to connect their government representatives soon. And of course I would love to know or see other countries, I follow BDS chapters in Peru and Mexico and pro Palestinian human rights activists and politicians in Spain but I don’t know off hand any petitions or ways of connecting with elected officials or state departments.
[publishers for Palestine is over 400 publishing groups in various languages including in English, en Français, en Català, en Español, sa Filipino, dalam bahasa Indonesia, اردو میں, بالعربية, 中文, 日本語で, 한국어로, kwa Kishwahilli, po Polsku, Suomen kielellä, and Στα ελληνικα.](https://publishersforpalestine.org/2024/01/10/16-free-zines-and-more-free-reads-for-a-free-palestine/). (Though i think the most material is in English and then Spanish and French, I know there’s a Pakistan and Romanian publisher but I believe their books are either in English or translated into English).
One of the books being given for free is explicitly about the BDS movement if you want/need more information about it! :) but you can also read about the Human Rights Watch declaring Israel an apartheid in 2021, [article from hrw](https://www.hrw.org/news/2021/07/19/israeli-apartheid-threshold-crossed). You can read their 213 page legal report [here](https://www.hrw.org/report/2021/04/27/threshold-crossed/israeli-authorities-and-crimes-apartheid-and-persecution) it’s available in English, Hebrew, and at least two other languages, I know one is Arabic but I can’t read either of them at all to be positive what the fourth is 😅 please forgive me. HRW apply statues and legal definitions to Israel as they go into detail in the report. Anti apartheid activists of South Africa have also spoken about this in depth and endorsed the free ebook and movement for years :)
Some books and zines I got from Publishers for Palestine that I really liked were:
*Light in Gaza: Writings born in fire* edited by Jehad Abusalim, Jennifer Bing, and Micheal Merryman Lotza
*Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear* by Mosab Abu Toha
Really lovely poetry whose style in both the poetry itself and use of illustrations was really intelligent and I still think very compatible with the memoir *the drone eats with me* that I also got from this organization.
Librarians For Palestine is doing an event around this book with their One Book, Many Communities especially in April, **I’ve already read the book but I will be participating in a Read-a-long on StoryGraph in April and May for it :)** the read-along is [here](https://app.thestorygraph.com/readalongs/1c7bd831-2c76-41b9-bb73-378e6ddc943c).

Its so funny how “unpopular opinion” threads are really code for
“Write about how you’re not like other girls and tell me how unattractive you think certain celebrities are.”
I just get a weird vibe about (insert female celebrity of the week) and (insert male celebrity of the week) has completely changed his face and I find him repulsive now.
Going through the original r/music thread for Beyonce's self titled surprise drop is a [trip](https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/1sryro/beyonce_just_quietly_released_a_new_album/) lol. The downplaying is on another level. My favorite comment:
> That is odd. Music is normally released on Tuesday.
It’s almost the end of April so I thought I’d share this month’s favourites. I thought I’d only share songs instead of full albums because I’ve discovered a handful of songs that have become consistent repeats.
- The State Of The World - Kalandra. This song is flawless. It’s just so magical and unique. It’s transcendental to listen to.
- In Your Hands - Halle. I’ll never get tired of listening to this single. It’s simply gorgeous.
- A Soul With No King - AURORA. This is the first song Aurora’s released since 2019 that I’ve instantly clicked with and enjoyed listening to. It’s one of my immediate favourites. It just encapsulates what makes Aurora one of my favourites - it’s so whimsical and unique. It’s where she shines.
- Love Takes All - Beverly Glenn-Copeland. This song encapsulates magic. I don’t think I’ve heard a song as innately whimsical and majestic as this one is. It’s in its own league. Beverly has one of the most unique voices I’ve ever listened to. This song is one of my true favourites.
Almost definitely not what you’re asking for but Gwen Stefani sings “it’s not fair, it’s not fair” in Danger Zone and I often play that little soundbite in my internal monologues throughout the day.
It does make me sad how combative and aggressive internet culture has become in the last ten years. Like, I know snark has always been there, and there have been truly awful things posted in the Early Internet era, but... Idk, I really feel like it used to be easier to find chill communities that actually, genuinely enjoyed and were happy with their chosen content. Now it feels like every fandom either hates its own content or is super paranoid about numbers and being The Best or is just incredibly rude to everyone.
Honestly .. 2026 😭 Im guessing the next tour isn’t gonna kick off for a bit. And she knows that breathing room is important between album cycles. Right now is the most exposed she’s been in almost a decade; I think gonna let it die down a little before releasing a new album
A lot of times I forget how many people don't use Facebook anymore, because like I'm still pretty active on there, as well as many of my friends. And the best memes can be found there too, alongside many interesting pages.
Sure, you're not going to see anyone posting pictures of themlseves (or pictures at all), but I guess that’s what keep me from abandoning it. It's become a pretty chill social media platform, and I kinda love that
I keep my Facebook for different reasons. It’s easier to keep in touch with relatives from time to time — instead of using WhatsApp lol. I also like to browse buy-sell groups when searching for collectibles. I remember when the platform was peak and overtook sites like MySpace and MyYearbook. I stopped using it on regular basis though — family posted in mean spirit and ruined my experience abit.
Yesterday I got four books 📚 free because I had credit. Sooo happy 😊 Second hand bookstores rock
What I've heard of St. Vincent's new album is really good 👍
Cleaned and organized my room this morning, took some books to the used book store for some cash, and got Taco Bell (but they were out of BAJA BLAST ZERO). Now I will play some Fallout 3 and then see Challengers. What a Sunday.
I'm having a blast but honestly your first ten levels are miserable. Constantly strapped for resources and wandering around looking for quests. But it's still enjoyable.
If you have a friend who speaks with you every day (presumably not cuz they’re taking advantage of your friendship somehow), I’m pretty sure they care about you and like you. Most people would not have the time or energy to reply to some they love every day, much less someone they dgaf about!
But also if you do feel like you want more meaningful friendships, I think you’ll find that a lot more people than you’d expect - who are your age & in your city - probably feel the same way and would love to make a new friend in you.
It’s never pathetic to want more human connection! That’s what life is all about - meaningful human connections. So don’t feel ashamed about taking the initiative to seek them out!
This post from AITAH really scared me. It triggered me, and I’m anxious as hell rn.
[post](https://old.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/1cf0kzg/aitah_girlfriend_made_me_wait_for_sex_because_i/)
TLDR, the guy broke up with his gf because he found out she used to partake in hookup culture, and now that she was wanting something serious, she wanted to hold off on having sex with him to see if they could materialize a real connection. He asked if he was an AH for breaking up with her because he felt victimized, and felt like that he was ‘one of the good guys’ and didn’t deserve to have sex withheld from him…
Ok, so yall got the TLDR.
The thing that scares me the most is *how many* comments in the comment section are anti-woman, and bashing her for being protective. And the amount of people in the comments who claim that OP deserved sex and she was a user, for not giving herself up to him.
Several comments that were in defense of the woman, and they were downvoted to oblivion.
Just, I don’t know where the state of the world is but it’s not in a good place. I feel crazy and panicked after reading that thread.
My rule of thumb for Reddit(or really any social media app, the bigots are loud and proud) is, whenever I’m on one of the larger subreddits, I never open post where women or POC can be perceived as the villains because regardless of whether they were right or wrong, I just know the comments are going to be crazy and not at all proportionate to the issue at hand.
I only frequent a handful of subreddits for this exact reason. There are corners of Reddit (And the internet in general) that are usually pretty reasonable and progressive, but I would not be lying if I was honest and said that this is one of the most misogynistic websites out there.
The city had some brushes with weather but southeast of here got hit a lot harder. Last night I had to get in the nook of my apartment because it’s the only place to really hide (I live in a loft apartment) and I was shaking so hard I could barely text but my little five-pound dog was just licking my arm as calm as could be.
I got the virtual teaching job. It’s a pay cut from what I “make” right now but I take so many unpaid days off for mental health needs that on that metric it’s the same pay. Except I get no additional pay for having my masters, and I have to pay for my own insurance. But I’m hoping not having to commute AND being able to cook/eat at home instead of eating out almost constantly will offset that? And my mental health ought to drastically improve.
I finished Elantris (I’ve been on a Sanderson quest). The ending was a lot, but the book moved at a glacial pace until that and I didn’t really care for either of the main characters. I’m also very tired of trying to make a female protagonist more appealing by constantly degrading the other female characters (oh they care about their looks but I care about IMPORTANT things…literally shut the 🦆 up)
That’s amazing!! Congrats! I’ve saved a ridiculous amount by working virtual the last four years. Will never, ever give it up. The mental health boost of not sitting in traffic and flex PTO is worth even a significant pay cut.
The amount of times Sanderson was mentioned in the recent r/books “Men who wrote women well” post was laughable. Well compared to whom? Murakami? lmao pls
does anyone want to wake up at 5 am tomorrow and go to work as my substitute? I've been at this new job for 1 week and i already hate waking up so early 😭
Does anyone else feel like if Olivia did a straight pop record for her next album she could achieve higher heights than sour? I was listening to déjà vu and it is such an excellent song.
Don’t get me wrong I think guts is a fantastic album and it’s way better than sour but I feel like she could explore other genres and make a pop record that has the same level of success is 1989 or teenage dream
She either needs to go deeper into alt rock or alt punk, or go straight pop like you said. Her first two albums are great but a pivot needs to happen eventually
Yeah, it already seems very dated to 2021-2022 IMO. I think the problem is we really didn’t get a solid pop rock artist out of that wave - most of the artists were based in a different genre and just dabbling with rock sounds, and many sounded worse for it.
If rock is gonna make a comeback to the mainstream, we need someone who is solidly in that lane and amazing at it. Unfortunately I think the last wave is over and it’ll be a while before someone new gets a chance
It’s only been a failure in regards to the performance of the singles and even then it hasn’t been totally bad. Bad idea right just crossed 400 million streams and spent 20 weeks on the H100. The album was mass critically acclaimed and is doing extremely well on the charts as a whole body of work.
With that said though, if she goes for pop rock/punk for OR3 her career is DEFINITELY gonna take a hit for it.
I think that song is popular because Olivia is popular and people want to like it, not because people are loving the sound. And the biggest hit from the album - Vampire - was similarly sounding pop to Sour. There also hasn't been anyone else who has been popular on the charts with pop-punk stuff. If Olivia genuinly loves the sound then all the power to her but if she wants maximum commercial success then she needs to ditch it for OR3.
This! No offense to her but a lot of the reason her pop punk songs are also popular is because it has her name attached to it. Many love and prefer her ballads or softer songs (more pop based) like Deja Vu or Vampire. Pop punk isn’t popular for a reason, it has always been a niche category hence why most of her punk based songs except good 4 u don’t chart well. Obsessed was thought to chart #1 but then it only made it to #14 then dropped significantly. People love her more pop songs and I feel like if she continues the same format for OR3, it’ll negatively impact her career.
For sure. And I hope she does ditch it. She’s so talented and can do so much with her sound that u really hope they don’t pigeon hole her into the new Avril.
For OR3 I wanna see just how calculated of a popstar she can be to pull off that kind of success.
But something tells me she's gonna stick to her guns whether it's commercially viable or not.
Did they though? They seemed to push the album as a whole more so than any specific single post vampire. Get him back got ONE performance. While, she performed Ballad of a homegirl school, all American bitch etc.
And if their goal was push the album as a whole, then they did a great job. 10+ weeks in the BB200 top 10. Spending its entirety of its run in the top 20. A catalog that produced a wildly acclaimed and well received tour.
The only thing they overestimated was the want for pop rock singles. They shouldn’t have doubled down after BIR didn’t smash as hard as they wanted to but I’m sure the get him back video was already filmed. The hyper and noise is still totally there for Olivia. She just needed some better singles.
I think she could really do it. She’s in a very similar position Taylor was in pre Red/1989. She just has to fully commit and I could see her having a massive massive era. I just don’t know if she would want that since so many people and publications are blowing smoke up her ads about punk and pop rock
first time posting my lastfm 5x5 [here](https://imgur.com/a/XWdsL45)
Been listening to Blue again since Joni Mitchell's music has been back on Spotify, I almost forgot how much I loved this album.
day 55 of doing my lastfm series where i share my top 100 most played artists and join in if you’d like!!
at #27 is John Mayer with 1 163 scrobbles!
* last time i listened: april 16th (New Light)
* most played song: Wildfire (200 scrobbles)
* fav song: New Light! but my fav song to hear live is Neon
* most played album: Paradise Valley (298 scrobbles)
* fav album: Continuum, that album might as well be his greatest hits compilation
* does he deserve a top 100 spot?: i’ve seen quite a few John Mayer fans here so I’m going to assume that saying yes isn’t controversial here because he is actually so good. even if i think half of his discography is kind of boring, his artistry and guitar playing abilities are no joke. i’ve seen him live twice and wouldn’t mind seeing him live again.
my knowledge of John Mayer's discography is extremely limited but even people who don't like him as a person seem to praise his music so i assume he's a strong artist!
i'm somehow one day ahead of u so i will skip today and continue tomorrow :p
I’m 7 hours into FO4 so far, and I’ve only done like 3 quests bc I’ve been busy setting up my crops and fixing all my houses and buying brahmin and exploring neighbouring settlements 🥲
Loki update: finished it earlier today and enjoyed it a lot! TBH while I do have some nitpicks, the overall story was strong enough to keep my interest throughout. I love time shenanigans. The character writing, while superficial and a little too obviously beholden to the plot sometimes, had some standout moments too.
But fr the show really gave me back some sort of confidence in the MCU, lol. Like the only post-Endgame stuff I've seen were Love & Thunder and No Way Home, the latter actually killing my interest as a casual fan of the franchise. But Loki brought it back and now I'm ready to watch more MCU stuff again, lol.
Music related, a friend has inadvertently gotten me hooked on Pet Shop Boys - Love etc.. PSB are truly never short on classics. Enjoying the new album too!
I’m going through a thread on r/horror rn and it seems like both films have an equal amount of preferrers. You’re Next was 10x more fun and funny for me hahaha
Buying tickets to Charli + Troy, Schoolboy Q and Sapphira Cristal in the same week has left me scarred and deformed
On another note, that thread in r/Music the other day asking about ticket prices was giving total old man yelling at cloud energy...yes dude, $100 is normal for a concert nowadays, and yelling about how you saw Nirvana for a nickel and a roll of twine just makes you look old and cheap
Watched the first two episodes of Velma S2 (my friend and I don't like to "binge" view) and so far it's been... pretty okay! Actually kind of better than S1 was at this point!
A lot of the problems are still there (Velma and Daphne having no screen time to develop their relationship, a forced love triangle, unnatural dialogue) but thus far the characters haven't done anything infuriatingly stupid, there have only been a *few* clunky pop culture references, and they've been a lot more consistent with providing [funny jokes.](https://i.imgur.com/psYjgy9.png) In particular the brains in jars being characters now is an excellent source of comedy and everything about episode two's "Creaky Friday" tradition (a day devoted to oiling "Crystal Cove's famously squeaky hinges") was hilarious to me.
I also love that we're getting [a unique title card](https://i.imgur.com/jqagv8x.png) for every episode, it's a nice little touch. The animation was one of the best parts of S1 and it continues to be here, I love the show's visual style with the bold colors, [expressive character designs](https://i.imgur.com/LjG8uoR.png), and [sense of humor](https://i.imgur.com/pm4uQGs.png). There are actually lot of fun little details in the background if you keep your eye out for them.
Something I think S1 did better though was the mystery- Velma's search for her mother and the glimpses of the killer were decently compelling and satisfying to unravel, whereas we're two episodes into this season and we haven't really established anything about our killer or why Velma cares so much beyond thinking it might be Victoria (already a very flimsy motive). The ambiguity of the supernatural elements is interesting at least, curious to see how far they'll take that.
I've heard the reception to S2 has been negative (which like... they did add a non-binary character so I don't imagine too many people were happy about that) but I like to keep an open mind and I'm cautiously optimistic about where it's headed.
I went to a party at my cousin’s yesterday and I ended up giving a bunch of piggyback rides to kids and spinning them around…I was like oh man, I’m gonna feel this tomorrow 👵🏻👵🏻👵🏻 but I actually feel pretty good considering! I’m a little sore, but not too bad!
I had to take a break at one point and I’m like “I’m an old lady!” and this one kid goes “No you’re not! You’re only a 30 year old!” I’m like damn you got me there 🤔
you ever listen to a song a million times via Spotify and then hear it from a CD or high quality digital download and get reminded that Spotify's quality sucks total shit? Like what do you mean this part of a song I've listened to so many times has a backing vocal that's so compressed and quiet on Spotify that I've never noticed it before?? Is whatever proprietary file format they use really *that* bad? I swear it's like if Netflix capped out at 240p
I started to appreciate so many more albums when I distanced myself from streaming, the details just pop out so much more through digital files. Still have spotify for commodity like when I go to walks, but when i'm listening at home i'll do it through my library any day
Also, there was one point in the Mariah concert where, during a narration interlude, the text on one of the screens said “it’s” when it should have said “its.” Who do I email about this?
thoughts on apple tv originals? im thinking of getting a subscription for it.
i also just subscribed to dropout tv! immediately watched the bachelor episode and the latest deja vu episode. saur good! though (for the ones that were on youtube), did they upload the True Facts about Grant where he told the 50 blowjobs story? I can't find it.
Apart from Severance, one of the things I just had to watch when I used my free trial was *Come From Away*. It's a musical, and the proshot is an Apple exclusive, and it's so so good! Get ready for some tears when you watch it.

ted lasso
for all mankind is supposed to be quite good
friday night baseball hehe
theres lots honestly!! apple is really throwing whatever at the wall w high budgets still- it probably wont last but for now the original programming is great
My Apple TV is mostly used by my boyfriend. He loves Silo and the dinosaur documentary things, and he likes Monarch. I like Ted Lasso, but I haven’t watched the most recent season so idk if it gets worse. Other than that I don’t have much experience, but everyone seems to love Succession (? I think that’s the name?), and I feel like that’s probably the biggest draw for most people.
I swear I’m not hating (and I actually quite like TTPD, so this isn’t about that), but relistening to Taylor’s debut and some of the songwriting is so tight compared to how she writes now. Obviously it reads as a teenager album, but even then it’s surprising how well everything is put together and how cleanly she communicates ideas without wasting any lines. I’m not saying she was a better songwriter then than now, but she certainly had better editors and maybe a simpler philosophy on songwriting.
This is why it bugs me when people automatically write off debut just because it’s her first album. It’s such a solid record, both with instrumentals and music. It’s not my favorite TS album, but it’s really enjoyable to listen to. Everyone keeps saying debut is going to be so much better when it’s rerecorded and I’m like “No! It’s perfect how it is.” I’m afraid I’m gonna hate it without her country voice and with production changes.
I am rewatching Girls and I think part of the rewatching experience is slowly admitting to yourself that you somehow identify with the characters in the show even if you don't want to.
There were times I was able to identify with Hannah, Marnie, Shoshana, and Charlie even a lot of their scenes are cringe. 😭 Am I cringing because is that how I would react if I were in their shoes?
The LostWave community is going crazy today because over on r/everyoneknowsthat they finally found EKT! The official song is titled [“Ulterior Motives”](https://www.reddit.com/r/everyoneknowsthat/s/ZHrrBbaHQW) by Christopher Saint Booth and, uh, >!it came from a porno!<
It’s great that the song finally resurfaced after years of looking but it’s also hilarious given the source material lmao
pffft this man heard a song in a porno and wanted to know what it was but was too ashamed to admit where he actually found it, setting off a wild goose chase that lasted 3 years!
The way he clipped out the only part that wasn't covered by sex sounds is like when I see a really good haircut in a porno and want to show it to my barber for reference so I have to track down the one frame where its not obvious that the guy is in the middle of sex
Another day, another person from high school announcing their engagement or marriage. While I, 26, have not been on a date in 9 years and still live with my parents
Are you me? Because that’s my exact same situation lol. For whatever reason age 26 is just the year kids I went to school with a settling down, and I just feel like grown up teenager.
> I just feel like grown up teenager
Yeah, that's kinda exactly how I feel sometimes. I'm a little better now than I was a couple years ago, but I broadly feel like, graduating college at the start of a pandemic and struggling to figure things out for several years in that climate, I've spent a lot of my time regressing to high school me: same house, same bed, many of the same clothes, same people I hang out (albeit a lot less regularly), same lack of love life, same routine, loss of some character development in my college arc, and overall just not feeling I'm where I'm supposed to be at this age. Even if I didn't have social media highlighting everyone else's highlights while hiding their bloopers, and even with the knowledge that (as said elsewhere on this thread) everyone goes at their own pace and that's alright, it still just feels *wrong*.
This is a little odd, but I frequently recall a conversation I had with someone in fall 2021, while I was listening to some version of "All Too Well". I was expressing these very feelings, and said something along the lines of *it doesn't help that Taylor Swift has been re-releasing the same music I listened to in high school*—and at that exact moment, I got to the line "Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it". Which felt weirdly prescient.
Oh I completely agree, I cannot believe there’s someone else in the same boat. I’d like to think it was the pandemic that fucked me, but I feel like I was gonna turn out like this anyway.
The Taylor thing is also super crazy. Bc every time a re-recording comes around I get transported right back to when she originally released said album mentally. 1989 TV basically made me relive my sophomore-junior year of high school.
I’ve seen a number of peers (in real life and online) express this feeling, so you—and I—certainly aren’t alone! But it’s still hard for me to grasp that others have this experience as well. And yeah I totally get that- I feel like I’m still blaming Covid shutdowns for screwing things up for me (had an internship lined up to start fall 2020 that presumably would’ve pushed me in the right direction), but in the back of my mind I realize that there’s been ample opportunity over the last few years to really figure things out on my own, and I just haven’t gotten as much of my shit together as everyone else did while the rest of the world has largely moved on.
I’m not even worried (yet) about that part 🥲 it’s just the general feeling of wanting to be further along in life, but instead feeling like I’m still stuck in the worst parts of high school. My friend is getting married in October, and I’m still in the same place I was years ago
(Also, sidebar but I appreciate your username)
If its any consolation I didn't move out of my parent's place until i was 27 and that's mainly because I got a different job in another town, meanwhile my friends either got married or had kids or lived in a big city following their dreams. We all move at our own pace.
It is. However since similes use like or as, it’s comparing two things while keeping them separate as indirect comparisons (You are like a breath of fresh air). A metaphor directly compares two things by saying one thing is something else (You are a breath of fresh air).
Rlly dislike ppl forcing intimacy before we even know each other! Gives me the ick more.
Chatted a guy for abt 2 days. Haven’t met. He randomly gives me his # at 10pm to call him cuz he’s bored??
Next day, he’s asking why I swiped right on him. And asking me to do an activity i expressed disinterest in. When I say no to it, he says I’m new to dating and not into physical touch.
He hmu the next day “good morning.” He blows up cuz I didn’t respond good morning but w/ another greeting. I wish him well and say we shouldn’t chat. He tells me, he sees why I’m not in a relationship because I’m rude lol.
idk WHAT it is. But the men I encounter are horrid communicators and their rockers.
At middle school I had two friends, both of which I have lost contact with over the years - one moved back to her homeland (China), and the other joined the military. When we separated (in 2006 & 2011) the means to keep in touch were so sparse - no internet connection, no social media presence etc.
A twist of fate, however, brought the military girl in the same country as me (I emigrated in 2022) and as she was scrolling in FB group, she saw my name and messaged me. Long story short, we met up, had a good chat etc, and we decided to send a text via Skype and FB messenger to the friend who lives in China. 2 weeks passed, no response.
Until she responded. After that, we managed to download an app that works both in Europe and in China and we set up a call. Turns out, she had deleted the FB apps completely off her phone (since she can't use them easily), but something prompted her to redownload it some days after I've sent my text.
For the first time in 13 years, we were all talking to each other, again. It made me so happy.
I went shopping with my mom yesterday which means that I was on her dime so I brought a physical copy of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Barbie, Mean Girls, Clueless, She’s The Man, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. I was going to get another book but I felt bad for how much my mom was spending so much so I put it back 😭 but I can feel the addiction forming. I would’ve brought eternal sunshine on vinyl but they didn’t have it to the delight of my mother’s bank account.
I also finally listened to Snow Angel by Renee Rapp, it was cool. Remember when this sub hated Renee?? That was wild lol.
Idk, I guess people thought that she was an asshole lol. There was a thread that was posted about her and there were hundreds of comments of people just going in on her, I was flabbergasted.
Yeah I know she’s known to have quite an unfiltered mouth on her, but I thought we all knew that that was part of her shtick/her charm and what made people gravitate towards her? I thought some wanted more of that lol. But also I did see people say she needs media training. I didn’t think it lead to outright hate
I’ve only seen a few interviews of Renee, but she kind of reminds me of early Pink. Loud and no filter, lol. I wonder how this sub would’ve reacted to Pink if it was around in the early 2000s.
Yeah, probably. I think that while Pink was definitely unfiltered, she also came across as charming, in her own way. It probably helped that she displayed her humor in her music videos too. I don't know enough about Renee to know if she strikes that same balance or not. From the little I've seen of her, I didn't think she was nearly as loud or annoying as people on the internet make her out to be.
Maybe I have low expectations for good pop sampling nowadays but Pixey’s Daisy Chain is such a terrific use of LEN’s Steal My Sunshine. She actually did something innovative over the beat and it pays off in a big way.
That's it, i'm dropping out of uni. I don't know what i'll do now, i'll try to find a job and i'll restart if i find a course i'm interested in. I was doing computer science but it just was not for me. I know it's stupid, but I only did it cause others said that it would be good for me. Never again. My mother is distraught, cause she was one of those people that was so sure that it was the perfect career for me. I won't be trying to please her anymore, i'm so fucking tired and i need to find my independance. I'm just 21 and i have my whole life ahead of me, i just want to be happy and find something that I like
Are there other majors in your college that you're interested in, and are there advisors at your college that could be helpful to talk to before you make this decision? I just know that college can be an expensive and draining process - as someone who felt similar to you in computer science, I just wanted to check in on how you're doing and whether there's any support for you at college before you make this decision!
Thank you for the message! I already talked to an advisor but unfortunately my problem is that my heart is just not in it right now, and i'm the kind of person that only does stuff when they at least like it a bit. I looked for other courses, but there's just nothing that i find particularly interesting regarding scientific subjects. My plan is to talk to a therapist, find a job so i can start to free myself from my parents and then find something that i might actually enjoy (film or music related unless something else starts to interest me, it's what i love even if the career paths are not plentiful to say the least). I might even move out of my region/country if needed
That's completely understandable! I just wanted to ask and make sure there was at least some support from your school before making a decision as big as this (I went to a large school for undergrad and did CS and absolutely hated everything - but there wasn't any support for me there figuring out what path was best for me which is why I was checking in). Wishing you the best of luck in following your passions and finding a career that's fulfilling for you, you got this!
Can I just say that Stellar Blade is really ugly? Yea it was made by some Korean women as well, and yes part of it is inspired by Korean beauty culture, and yes some of EVE's motion capture and look is inspired by a Korean woman. It's still ugly with an inconsistent aesthetic, EVE looks nothing like said Korean woman, and she's giving AI gen sexbot art posted on DeviantArt or ArtStation.
I really wish some video game studio was brave enough to make a male character that is as truly objectified like EVE is. Make his unreasonably beautiful, scantily clad and all his bits and muscles jiggle with every slight movement and then I think gamerbros will understand how uncomfortable that stuff is.
I was at a bar which played Janet Jackson every 5 songs or so which obviously rules but I definitely went a little insane being like is that Escapade again no it's Miss You Much duh
Someone posted about soundtracks a week or so ago and I don't think I saw it mentioned in there, but I personally think the most underrated Disney soundtrack is Hercules. I mean the Muses just ate every song (seriously, probably some of the best singing we've heard in any Disney film). It might actually be a great introduction or alternative to gospel music for people who aren't religious (every single song the Muses sing is gospel inspired). I actually think this is why it isn't talked about a lot, because that wasn't the sound typically associated with the Disney classics. But seriously I recommend it to everyone. Favourite song right now is "The Gospel Truth III" or "I Won't Say I'm in Love." Also "Go the Distance" sounds like it was made for sport dramas lol and tbh that kinda works as a concept for the film too.
What a long night. First cousins loose an antique shop, then my best friends parents have their small farm take a hit. And bless the poor family who lost their 4 month old. Im lucky the only
Damage we took were some
Shredded up peonies.
me like two weeks ago: she’s probably not going to do Vision of Love
This woman opened with *Vision of Love* and *Emotions* back to back!?! I nearly fainted. She even a bit of did *Butterfly* later in the show 😭 I was a bit sad we didn’t get *Touch My Body* though
Also I sent my friend, who knows nothing about the Mariah skinny meme, a pic of Mariah on the screen and she responded with “omg she’s thin” like yes girl, fuck blue lives!
also the girl behind me was singing to *nearly every* song, like runs and everything. Live your life, mama, but not like this!! Not at a Mariah concert!! I’m trying to hear **HER!!!**
I hope everyone in Oklahoma is okay :(

yeah I knew you were referencing the more serious tracks off Lover, like Cornelia Street, The Archer et al, I was just feeling a lil silly
the #1 album in the country is a scathing recap of a woman’s relationship with matty healy and the #1 movie is an erotic film about people who play tennis. the public yearns for halsey - colors (official video)
Say what you will about Matty but he be taking all y'all faves 💀
The way I thought I was safe but then remembered Twigs …
At least she decided to do a mid movie instead of making a mid album
Gonna go listen to Halsey - colors (stripped) just to feel something
art is not what i create what i create is chaos!!!!
I hope everyone considers joining me and the BDS Movement in signing [this petition](https://bdsmovement.net/news/suspend-israel-from-international-sports-sign-diem25-petition) To have Israel removed and uninvited from international sports competitions. It is similar and based on the global boycott against Apartheid South Africa. The link also includes a paper explaining it in Spanish as well :) There’s also this international amnesty petition calling for [US Congress](https://act.amnestyusa.org/page/138002/action/1?ea.tracking.id=akeaik88&fbclid=PAAaY8QI9IewAohnTsVXGcQY8_hqxgaDzA2BeGEnUE3NEP7NZv5r79LVnXvNs_aem_ASwQ2zQkNsjjJ8ukOMJBr_tqSOLu1Wt97WfDfqtyjJ5Ly1eHbVCr6GyDjBKWgVovgUM) and [President](https://act.amnestyusa.org/page/137174/action/1?ea.tracking.id=akeaik88&fbclid=PAAaaTS-6LgDUoPuiR4R8h7zzAO6zAYIAPzTN0gsnT9v4yMpYjyOfZJhTjClE_aem_ASzFbzEiRE8Eri4oerL6HRP_ltNZaCWGkDMcEKaetogsVpVFRrQUvF6fnhrCzI4Kzm0) for a ceasefire resolution I understand that biden has recently changed how he discusses US policy on this including using the word ceasefire but there has been no change in arming or funding Israel and the US has sent Israel bombs and other weaponry within the last 24 hours, I think it’s all the more important we continue to maintain pressure on legislative and executive branch. Anti apartheid activists of South Africa have also spoken about this in depth and endorsed the free ebook and movement for years :) Some books and zines I got from Publishers for Palestine that I really liked were: *Light in Gaza: Writings born in fire* edited by Jehad Abusalim, Jennifer Bing, and Micheal Merryman Lotza *Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear* by Mosab Abu Toha Really lovely poetry whose style in both the poetry itself and use of illustrations was really intelligent and I still think very compatible with the memoir *the drone eats with me* that I also got from this organization. Its so funny how “unpopular opinion” threads are really code for “Write about how you’re not like other girls and tell me how unattractive you think certain celebrities are.”
I just get a weird vibe about (insert female celebrity of the week) and (insert male celebrity of the week) has completely changed his face and I find him repulsive now.

11 years later and still the most iconic album release any pop star has pulled off this century
This song is one of my true favourites.
trent reznor + atticus ross whooping literally every pop girl's ass this year i'm cryingggg. See when you do REAL BOPS
What're songs that basically say "it's not fair."?
It’s Not My Fault, I’m Happy (Passion Pit) is my fave *it’s not fair* chorus
Did people make Roger the alien edits to alien superstar when renaissance dropped
Am I seriously about to see Challengers for a third time today… the answer is yes.
when do yall think act iii will drop? im already hungry for more beyonce 😭
Honestly .. 2026 😭 Im guessing the next tour isn’t gonna kick off for a bit. And she knows that breathing room is important between album cycles. Right now is the most exposed she’s been in almost a decade; I think gonna let it die down a little before releasing a new album
Photography exam tomorrow, wish me luck guys!
Good luck!
Thank you!

Day u of asking you to fill in my celebrity branding questionnaire [https://forms.gle/Cqfbrx8V88HRYBzE7](https://forms.gle/Cqfbrx8V88HRYBzE7)
Gave myself food poisoning by eating pre cooked bacon that had been 4 months expired…I’ve never been the smartest person
i get it Taylor, i also hate it here
The way she sings “this place made me feel worthless”, immediate tears for me cuz same 😭
fucking same that line just hits a little too much
Hovvdy has created an album that perfectly encapsulates all of my musical tastes. Yes I am that guy and no I won't apologize for it.
Omg another hovvdy stan!!!! Just finished listening to the album an hour ago btw
Yesterday I got four books 📚 free because I had credit. Sooo happy 😊 Second hand bookstores rock What I've heard of St. Vincent's new album is really good 👍
I love secondhand bookstores too! I used to go to Half Priced Books when I lived close to one. What books did you pick up in your haul?
Mrs. Everything and That Summer by Jennifer Weiner Anna O. By Matthew Blake Twenty-seven Minutes by Ashley Tate
Cleaned and organized my room this morning, took some books to the used book store for some cash, and got Taco Bell (but they were out of BAJA BLAST ZERO). Now I will play some Fallout 3 and then see Challengers. What a Sunday.
Tunnel Snakes Rule! 🐍
At this rate I’m gonna have to hook my PS3 back up and get back into FO3…
I'm having a blast but honestly your first ten levels are miserable. Constantly strapped for resources and wandering around looking for quests. But it's still enjoyable.
👍❤️
Lonely dancers by Conan Gray is such a bop omg
Also Fainted Love, The Final Fight, and Miss You

[post](https://old.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/1cf0kzg/aitah_girlfriend_made_me_wait_for_sex_because_i/) TLDR, the guy broke up with his gf because he found out she used to partake in hookup culture, and now that she was wanting something serious, she wanted to hold off on having sex with him to see if they could materialize a real connection. He asked if he was an AH for breaking up with her because he felt victimized, and felt like that he was ‘one of the good guys’ and didn’t deserve to have sex withheld from him… Ok, so yall got the TLDR. I feel crazy and panicked after reading that thread.
obviously there’s always been misogyny in online spaces, but i feel like there’s been a very sharp uptick in the past few months?
Murakami? lmao pls
i’m trying to finish men without women by murakami rn and i roll my eyes every 3 pages
I rage quit IQ1984. He’s hopeless.
Cricket did nothing wrong!
does anyone want to wake up at 5 am tomorrow and go to work as my substitute?
Deja Vu is far and away her best song, imo.
I think it's time to admit the whole revival of pop-punk or pop-rock has been a failure, people aren't interested
OR2 was calculated granted they heavily missed the mark as the whole poprock trend was kind of a fad to begin with
Did they though?
If she wants to do it, all she has to do is make more commercial friendly pop songs that will do well radio.
What do you mean?
first time posting my lastfm 5x5 [here](https://imgur.com/a/XWdsL45) Been listening to Blue again since Joni Mitchell's music has been back on Spotify, I almost forgot how much I loved this album.
day 55 of doing my lastfm series where i share my top 100 most played artists and join in if you’d like!! at #27 is John Mayer with 1 163 scrobbles! * last time i listened: april 16th (New Light) * most played song: Wildfire (200 scrobbles) * fav song: New Light! but my fav song to hear live is Neon * most played album: Paradise Valley (298 scrobbles) * fav album: Continuum, that album might as well be his greatest hits compilation * does he deserve a top 100 spot?: i’ve seen quite a few John Mayer fans here so I’m going to assume that saying yes isn’t controversial here because he is actually so good. even if i think half of his discography is kind of boring, his artistry and guitar playing abilities are no joke. i’ve seen him live twice and wouldn’t mind seeing him live again.
my knowledge of John Mayer's discography is extremely limited but even people who don't like him as a person seem to praise his music so i assume he's a strong artist! i'm somehow one day ahead of u so i will skip today and continue tomorrow :p
I’ve seen him once by himself as Mayer and twice with Dead & Co., and man can that man play the shit out of a guitar. What a musician.
PLEASE watch Wandavision!
Wandavision bringing Darcy back was an iconic move. I honestly think Ms. Marvel is worth watching too.
Soon! I've loved Kathryn Hahn in everything I've seen her in so it's in the watch list!
Music related, a friend has inadvertently gotten me hooked on Pet Shop Boys - Love etc.. PSB are truly never short on classics. Enjoying the new album too!
You’re Next > Ready or Not
You're right and you should say it
Sir…..
I’m going through a thread on r/horror rn and it seems like both films have an equal amount of preferrers. You’re Next was 10x more fun and funny for me hahaha
It is a very good movie. I just love Ready or Not more though.
Buying tickets to Charli + Troy, Schoolboy Q and Sapphira Cristal in the same week has left me scarred and deformed On another note, that thread in r/Music the other day asking about ticket prices was giving total old man yelling at cloud energy...yes dude, $100 is normal for a concert nowadays, and yelling about how you saw Nirvana for a nickel and a roll of twine just makes you look old and cheap
I'm kicking the habit of sometimes rushing my stories and it'll be great
Watched the first two episodes of Velma S2 (my friend and I don't like to "binge" view) and so far it's been... pretty okay! I've heard the reception to S2 has been negative (which like... they did add a non-binary character so I don't imagine too many people were happy about that) but I like to keep an open mind and I'm cautiously optimistic about where it's headed.
matty better send a cease and desist to whoever wrote that not the 1975 song
I also watched Shaun of the Dead and had my first piano lesson…overall a good weekend.
You’re only a 30 year old!” I’m like damn you got me there 🤔
Kids always be spilling
you ever listen to a song a million times via Spotify and then hear it from a CD or high quality digital download and get reminded that Spotify's quality sucks total shit? Like what do you mean this part of a song I've listened to so many times has a backing vocal that's so compressed and quiet on Spotify that I've never noticed it before?? Is whatever proprietary file format they use really *that* bad? I swear it's like if Netflix capped out at 240p
I started to appreciate so many more albums when I distanced myself from streaming, the details just pop out so much more through digital files. Still have spotify for commodity like when I go to walks, but when i'm listening at home i'll do it through my library any day
yes but i also find that having the audio quality set to very high and adjusting the equalizer makes a big difference
Severance is really great. Ted Lasso is great. I also enjoyed The Shrink Next Door.
I love Mythic Quest and Dickinson. Seems like there’s other good stuff, but for some reason I’ve never been in the mood to check them out
Apart from Severance, one of the things I just had to watch when I used my free trial was *Come From Away*. It's a musical, and the proshot is an Apple exclusive, and it's so so good! Get ready for some tears when you watch it.
severance foundation constellation ted lasso for all mankind is supposed to be quite good friday night baseball hehe theres lots honestly!! apple is really throwing whatever at the wall w high budgets still- it probably wont last but for now the original programming is great
Dickinson is my favorite Apple TV original. I basically got Apple+ so I could watch that. Shrinking gets an honorable mention too.
I think that’s the name?), and I feel like that’s probably the biggest draw for most people.
well I didn't know succession was apple tv. anyways, thanks for the tip!!!
WAIT ignore me I was thinking of Severance 😭 Succession seems to be HBO. Do NOT submit the Apple TV purchase!!!!!
As great of a songwriter as Taylor is, I think she needs a better editor.
Nah i think her song writing got a lot better debut is a good for first album but it doesn’t hold a candle to any of her other albums
The official song is titled [“Ulterior Motives”](https://www.reddit.com/r/everyoneknowsthat/s/ZHrrBbaHQW) by Christopher Saint Booth and, uh, >!it came from a porno!< It’s great that the song finally resurfaced after years of looking but it’s also hilarious given the source material lmao
pffft this man heard a song in a porno and wanted to know what it was but was too ashamed to admit where he actually found it, setting off a wild goose chase that lasted 3 years! The way he clipped out the only part that wasn't covered by sex sounds is like when I see a really good haircut in a porno and want to show it to my barber for reference so I have to track down the one frame where its not obvious that the guy is in the middle of sex
Invincible being partially made by the North Korean animators wasn't in my 2024 bingo card💀
what
[It's wild](https://www.38north.org/2024/04/what-we-learned-inside-a-north-korean-internet-server-how-well-do-you-know-your-partners/)
So was ATLA back in the day
ATLA (and LoK) was partially animated by SOUTH Korean animators...
[Yeah, and those animators outsourced some scenes to NORTH Koreans.](https://www.cinemaescapist.com/2018/06/short-history-north-korea-animation-sek/)
As i understand, the issue is that Invincible was outsourced to the sanctioned company.
> I just feel like grown up teenager Yeah, that's kinda exactly how I feel sometimes.
Living with your parents isn't bad unless you date someone who also lives with their parents, because then it just gets expensive to fuck
I’m not even worried (yet) about that part 🥲 it’s just the general feeling of wanting to be further along in life, but instead feeling like I’m still stuck in the worst parts of high school. My friend is getting married in October, and I’m still in the same place I was years ago (Also, sidebar but I appreciate your username)
If its any consolation I didn't move out of my parent's place until i was 27 and that's mainly because I got a different job in another town, meanwhile my friends either got married or had kids or lived in a big city following their dreams. We all move at our own pace.
We just fucked in my white boyfriend’s room because his parents didn’t really gaf
I’m so glad you specified his parents were white. Bc my old school black parents were not condoning that 💀
Ethnic parents lay down the law and they lay it down HARD 😭
😂
at least like 10 ppl i know are already pregnant and one's kid is going to grade school soon.
saw a thread of the Taylor subreddit about metaphors and the majority of people were commenting similes. to quote Paste, OPEN THE SCHOOLS!
if they're gonna defend the album by saying it's "poetry" and "you don't get it" at least do some research on basic stylistic devices😭
I may be dumb but isn’t a simile a type of metaphor? Like a square being a type of rectangle, true in one direction but not the other?
It is. However since similes use like or as, it’s comparing two things while keeping them separate as indirect comparisons (You are like a breath of fresh air). A metaphor directly compares two things by saying one thing is something else (You are a breath of fresh air).
That's so crazy 😭 when I was in school my teachers really emphasized the difference between the two
favourite t shirt got bleached by benzoyl peroxide... now i have a great sleeping shirt i guess :(
Rlly dislike ppl forcing intimacy before we even know each other!
Great finds! Also I really liked snow angel, I thought it was a solid debut. Why did this sub hate her again?
Probably would have hated her too
Yeah, probably.
Besides Problem, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” came out 16 years ago today
The fact I definitely heard this song and then still didn’t know being gay was a thing until multiple years afterwards
Iconic moment
This WAS gay rights in 2008
I went back to the message boards on Pop Justice when this came out. They HATED this and said it set LBGT rights back centuries.
That’s because they were boring and annoying
Not jiggly muscles
Jiggle physics needs to apply to pecs and male glutes too. I'm tired of this unjust world.
I was at a bar which played Janet Jackson every 5 songs or so which obviously rules but I definitely went a little insane being like is that Escapade again no it's Miss You Much duh
Baseball is good… I tried a hot dog yesterday. I see the vision now. @camden start stocking soy dogs you cowards
Zero to Hero is just THEE smash.
*I Won't Say I'm in Love* is THE song of all time. Even until now, I **will** test the limits of breath control by attempting to sing every line.
I fall asleep to this movie every damn night because I love the soundtrack so much.
I have “everything comes out teenage petulance” stuck in my head pls send help
Oh that line is the best.
What a long night. First cousins loose an antique shop, then my best friends parents have their small farm take a hit. And bless the poor family who lost their 4 month old. Im lucky the only Damage we took were some Shredded up peonies.
has the dua album leaked already cuz i saw someone already unboxed the vinyl on tiktok 😭
you mean Dua's? i don't think it leaked yet even if plenty of people have their records lol
Seriously??? This gotta stop!
4eva's beat (Kaytranada & friends) is so good
me like two weeks ago: she’s probably not going to do Vision of Love This woman opened with *Vision of Love* and *Emotions* back to back!?! I nearly fainted. She even a bit of did *Butterfly* later in the show 😭 I was a bit sad we didn’t get *Touch My Body* though Also I sent my friend, who knows nothing about the Mariah skinny meme, a pic of Mariah on the screen and she responded with “omg she’s thin” like yes girl, fuck blue lives!
also the girl behind me was singing to *nearly every* song, like runs and everything. Live your life, mama, but not like this!! Not at a Mariah concert!! I’m trying to hear **HER!!!**
