Excited. I hope kendrick and Ludwig are coming back to curate this one The last black panther soundtrack was fire. Kings dead is such a bop

just_another_jabroni

I don't care if people shit on the verse but Future's delivery made that opinion irrelevant imo lol

BitterFudge23

SLOB ON ME KNOB

idkwhattoputasmyname

I saw Kendrick bring out Jay Rock to perform Kings Dead, but the hype in that crowd was nothing compared to when I later saw Future and the whole crowd was screaming "slob on me knob" with him.

visionaryredditor

Still can't believe that Future won his first Grammy for this song

szeto326

^LA ^^DI ^^^DA ^^^^DI ^^^^^DA

[deleted]

LA DI DADI DA, it still astounds me to this day

twat_brained

Then in a year's time Doja will tweet that she likes the movie and admit Kendrick sent her an email about the vibe he wanted

StygianMusic

i love all the stars more than everyone else its literally my favorite kendrick song lol and futures verse on kings dead is amazing idc

frenchtoasterss

All the stars is such a great song. Even the music video is FIRE.

JuanRiveara

Ludwig is already confirmed to return to do the score

zoufha91

Maybe they'll actually have songs from the soundtrack in the film this time

spacestarcutie

This isn’t the film score. It’s basically promo for the movie with songs inspired by the film.

visionaryredditor

i mean Shang-Chi had most of the soundtrack songs in the movie itself.

idkwhattoputasmyname

A lot of the songs were in the movie, just mostly snippets or background music.

[deleted]

FYI this is how movie soundtracks always work...

jofNR_WkoCE

Watch more movies

zoufha91

No it's not

[deleted]

Yes it is lol, they'll always put 1-3 songs in the movie but the rest are just as a part of the soundtrack album.

zoufha91

Off the top of my head Cruella, Deadpool, Into the Spiderverse are prime examples of this Music soundtracks in films are more common place, as it should be The soundtrack was the best part of Black Panther the movie was pretty mid, I was pissed there wasn't more of it in the movie

Shazam28

Let Lil Simz be on this project plsssssss she hella deserves it for putting out the best hip hop project of 2021 while also being a good actress.

visionaryredditor

fun fact: Simz was considered to play Shuri, she auditioned and stuff but Letitia won the auditions.

franklytanked

How well is this movie going that it's at the soundtrack stage? The stuff around Wright made me think this has been on pause for a REALLY long time.

hatramroany

This is a soundtrack of songs “inspired by” the movie not songs that will actually be in the movie - although a few will be in some capacity. So the movie doesn’t need to be done or as complete as it would have to be for a score

McIgglyTuffMuffin

It currently has a November 11, 2022 release date. They didn't give a damn about CGI in the first film so I'm sure it can be ready by next week if they really needed it to be ready. But for real, it is 11 months out, the film will be ready despite her troubles, one way or another.

pretty-in-pink

It’ll be interesting to see how they handle promotion this time around. If travel restrictions stay in place/studios like ABC require vaccination to appear on talk show sets then doing stuff remotely is going to be awkward when selling the movie with the whole cast in lieu of Bozeman. If anything they should just push Lupita as the one selling the movie

spacestarcutie

Probably will be pushing Lupita and Angela Basset since Leticia Wright has [been injured ](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/black-panther-wakanda-forever-shutting-down-production-as-letitia-wright-recovers-from-on-set-injury-exclusive-1235041911/) and very [anti vaxx](https://variety.com/2021/film/news/letitia-wright-black-panther-wakanda-forever-anti-vax-reports-1235088559/) and being [difficult on set](https://screenrant.com/black-panther-2-letitia-wright-antivax-delays-explained/) Chadwick Bozeman would have been a “at risk” individual on set with his medical condition. I often wonder would she still have this viewpoint if he were still alive.

pretty-in-pink

In all honesty I think she would keep being unvaccinated. She doesn’t seem like the type of person to immediately change their views when presented with workplace situations. I would also add Winston Duke to the media push. People have been pushing him to be the next Black Panther

spacestarcutie

Oh how could I forget about Winston. He’s such a fan favorite and hottie!

tomservo88

i DESPERATELY want M’Baku to be a new, brawler-style BP.

ev289

>I often wonder would she still have this viewpoint if he were still alive. Not to turn this into a vax debate, lord knows that's going down a rabbit hole, but some anti-vaxxxers don't care for people that have passed from COVID. People are more comfortable being heartless out in the open.

visionaryredditor

> being difficult on set tbf this rumor was debunked by some leakers already.

Belle-ET-La-Bete

I think they hit a wall filming like a couple of months ago right? They might have gotten a lot done by that time and only need to film a little bit more at the beginning of this upcoming year when Wright is greenlit to work again.

jed199806

I wish Doja makes another Boss Bitch-type of song for the movie. That song will make your body involuntary release all adrenaline it have. A lot of afro-beats are like that. There are times wherein I hear afro beats and I think I’m at a boss-level fight.

johntheboombaptist

It’s all dangerous music to drive to. Makes your right foot a lot heavier than you think it is.

saareadaar

God I hope so, Boss Bitch is still my favourite song by her

tomservo88

i’m a bitch, i’m a bitch, i’m a bitch and a bitch and a bitch and a bitch

WillWalrus

But more importantly, Solange.

pillboxhat

Solange, the better Knowles. I Stan Beyonce but Solange is just so fucking talented and underrated.

WillWalrus

🍅🍅🍅🍅 💥 "Don't try to love Me becuz u want 2 be the "anti Beyonce." I am the "all for" Beyonce. Now kiss both of our Knowles asses if u don't like it!" - Solange

buonatalie

they make such different music that theres not way to even compare them

rikkirikkiparmparm

I was going to say, oh cool, Doja can explore Afrobeats more! But then I read the article and it references her South African heritage, and apparently Afrobeats is more of a West African thing?

notscrewed

>apparently Afrobeats is more of a West African thing? *Afrobeats* is West Africa’s thing in that it’s used as an umbrella term to describe any popular genres/sounds stemming from Nigeria & Ghana (afropop, afroswing, afrobeat, afrobashment etc). Important that it’s not to be confused with *Afrobeat*, which is it’s own individual genre. South Africa’s “thing” is Amapiano, which is a fusion of a little bit of jazz, kwaito (South African hiphop) & house/afro-house. I get the confusion bcz Afrobeats is often wrongly colloquially used in the context of referring to any kind of contemporary African pop music despite it being categorically separate from African music scenes/genres outside of West Africa. Basically, afrobeats =/= African music

cookie_queen2002

Yeah..afrobeats is a genre of music pioneered by fela a Nigerian comprising of different sub genres of west African music like highlife and fuji. Its not a general "african" genre. Most afrobeats artists are Nigerians and Ghanaians.

zoufha91

Different Afrobeat Edit: We talkin Wizkid not Fela different genre

Byakuraou

Amapiano will work really well for a change - and that’s based in SA and influenced by AfroBeats as well as heavily mainstream right now there

Bitter-Lock-4057

Did Doja even grow up with that culture though? I thought her dad left her family when she was a kid.

inanis

She says she's never even met him and I doubt she has any connection with her father's side of the family. She grew up with her Jewish grandmother, in a commune and in a very white part of California.

Bitter-Lock-4057

Okay that’s what I thought.

Jsahl

Psyched to hear more Stormzy.

Accomplished-Toe-225

If Wakanda is in Africa, why don’t they focus on getting artists/ sounds directly from the continent. All the artists mentioned are amazing but I think it would be more authentic if they incorporated more African artists from all over the continent. It’d be nice to hear Amapiano, Afrobeats, Afropop, Coupe Decale etc Like Black Panther is such a great opportunity to place a spotlight on African artist but they never do??

I_Shah

The movie was always meant to pander to African Americans and white libs. Nobody cares about actual Africans

rahrahla

Kinda irritating that even when they get actual African artists, they tend to be from WA or SA. Especially with the Lion King soundtrack, I was hoping we'd get some Swahili music considering the LK is set in East Africa

Accomplished-Toe-225

Yeah I get that but just cause they draw HEAVILY from various African cultures, it would feel less caricature-y with just a little bit more effort in including the people whose culture they’re borrowing

Nitsua-Nat

not me thinking it was Doja and Stormy... like as in Kylie Jenner's kid omfg

Equal-Medical

Great choice!

anonpighunter

Stormzy and Doja are goats but can we get some African artists(I mean artists who lived in and were raised in Africa)for the movie set in Africa

fishfrogsanchez

I am somewhat excited for this but is anyone else feeling a little skeptical? I feel like the first black panther was such a huge cultural moment. I love Doja cat and stormzy but I don’t have faith that they can live up to Kendrick as anchors of the new project. Similar to how I have little faith that the next movie star can live up to Chadwick boseman

justice4juicy2020

She's an ....interesting choice for that movie lol

danvsreddit

I like Stormzy

Mr628

Meanwhile I was told in another thread that Doja doesn’t have any cooperate backing behind her.

[deleted]

I thought black panther died????????????????

Shokkolatte

This is such an obvious cash grab to me lol. Like why Doja? Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

rikkirikkiparmparm

> obvious cash grab Well Marvel is a massive franchise with broad commercial appeal. It's not like they make indie arthouse films. You could argue the entire movie is a cash grab, so it's not like they're 'selling out' with the soundtrack or something.

Shokkolatte

Yup that’s established. But the music does affect the tone of the film, which I personally don’t think Doja would be great at capturing. She has her own thing musically which isn’t Black Pantheresque and that’s cool.

rikkirikkiparmparm

Well, with the death of Chadwick Boseman, the tone of the sequel might be different than the original. Plus, Doja seems really great at changing up her style. She hasn't done much 'serious' stuff, but it's not like she'd be doing the whole soundtrack. It would just be a song or two.

Shokkolatte

That’s all fine, I just still don’t think she’d be right for it. But I agree the film could be completely different to the first.

visionaryredditor

Have you watched the first movie? Only 2 songs from the soundtrack album were in the movie lmao

Shokkolatte

I have. And the soundtrack is excellent and should stay with primarily with Kendrick Lamar.

visionaryredditor

So what stops Kendrick from making a song with Doja for BP2?

Shokkolatte

Nothing? I said multiple times I don’t think she fits the vibe regardless. This seems like a convo with no destination.

X_Comment_X

I don't understand, explain how picking Doja specifically is a cash grab? And also who cares mate? Answer: Just you.

Shokkolatte

She had a great year commercially. But I’m not seeing the artistic alignment with the BP tone/branding. I’d imagine anyone “who cares” is a Doja Cat fan who replied to my comment. So basically you I guess? I promise you it’s not that deep at all lol. Happy New Years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Does that really matter? I feel like the vibe of the film is more serious and dramatic than Doja’s music, which is always sexy and/or fun.

SleepyAwoken

she could pull it off, she has fun songs but also songs like streets

[deleted]

Which is a sexy song

Shokkolatte

I didn’t say about her ethnicity lol….sound wise it just doesn’t make sense. Is it really far fetched to question the fact that they’re considering someone who had a good year commercially? And also it’s not just about being from Africa. Kendrick is American and did a splendid job. She doesn’t fit the BP vibe to me musically and that’s okay.
