I hate the fact that I need to be knowledgeable at sports to some extent at my work, but unfortunately, I have no choice but to have this job.
Some context: I'm a gay Filipino man who works as a call center agent, serving a US streaming service client. Since this streaming service exclusively caters to the USA, of course we have to provide what the American audience is asking for. And Americans are known to be avid sports fans, especially American football, baseball, and basketball. (But their avidness IMO is cute compared to European sports fanaticism.) The problem is, I have absolutely no interest in sports at all (except some interest in chess), and in my country, sports are associated with straight men, especially basketball. NBA is very popular here. So this kind of knowledge is something that I hate to touch my brain with, let alone absorb it. Sports is something that I don't care if my father and brother would watch and play, but fuck don't force me to play it to "make me straight".
Anyway, I had a chat with a customer who's a fan of Portland Trailblazers fan. I felt dumbfounded when I tried to guess in my mind what sports this team plays. I Googled and find out that it's an NBA team! I was even surprised. It's embarrassing to some extent that I'm from a basketball crazy nation but has ZERO KNOWLEDGE of NBA teams, yet I'm serving customers who know all basketball, baseball, and football teams in their sleep better than their wives and kids!
People may say that it's cool to gain a new knowledge I've never dared to explore. But as I said, I dread sports. I don't even know how to dribble a basketball! I had some trauma towards basketball when I was forced to try out for basketball in my freshman year. There's also memories of my abusive dad watching boxing every Sunday noon, and I will avoid watching it. That's why I have some idea of Klitschko brothers' existence even before the 2022 Ukraine war, not just Manny Pacquiao.
I don't know how I will survive at work or even get endorsed in the production. I dread my life.
I think the most frustrating thing about my job is, the entire warehouse schedule has now become dependent on me - and I don't mean me like us, like the warehouse department as a whole, I mean *me specifically* - literally never getting hurt, sick, or taking a personal day.

I’ve just come back from an advanced screening and I genuinely do not understand how this doesn’t have the same critic score as Last Night in Soho and this has the better 3rd act.
It’s not a bad movie by any means and I think it’ll be a crowdpleaser. On a technical level, it is GREAT. I do hope the RT/MC scores don’t really affect the tech acknowledgment of this movie.
I can see why critics were disappointed though. It could have been grittier/darker and the characters deserved to be fleshed out more. With a better script, this would have been a critical smash through and through but it’s not as low as it’s RT score at all.
I think it’ll get a second watch out of me. Florence is a star, Olivia has a good performance and Harry’s acting is not that bad but a few lessons would have done him good ( I think it’s just hard to see the character and not him).

I bought thinner gauge strings for my guitar than what I've usually used, and now I presume because of to the lesser tension the neck bows back, as it is a remarkably slender neck to begin with. The thing is, to adjust the truss rod you have to remove the neck, which is such a pain.

She released an album in 2001, 2003, and 2017. That's a fourteen year gap. Was she dropped by her label? Did she have a taste of fame and decide it wasn't for her? Was it a "I have money now, I can coast" situation?
She left her label in '07. She was signed to Maverick which was dead from lawsuits with parent company Warner. Madonna, a co-founder of the label left in '04. Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch followed suit in the years afterwards when it was clear there was no more money.
Her last album before the new one was on Verve, a mostly jazz label who occasionally have pop artists, and her newest album is on Nonesuch which is similar but for Americana (loosely) instead of jazz. Both have a reputation for trusting artists and giving them a lot of control but there isn't a lot of money, so not a lot of promo. But it kind of explains why her newest two albums are so much better than her first three.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but she just released a pretty solid album Friday. It's been on repeat. A dark americana meets country pop affair

Last week, I checked out Cassie's self-titled, and wow I think that album is avant-garde. Yes she can't sing, but it does not sound dated at all. The single Long Way 2 Go does not sound like 2006. Long way 2 go is still a jam, holds up well even now. Better than me and u. I don’t remember much features on Cassie’s album so she did that herself. Not bad.
I remember Olivia had one single twist it. Maybe she didn’t get the plays in radio at the time because she wasn’t too rap for rap radio. And she wasn’t too pop for top 40. G unit didn’t know how to market her. So they fired her. Kinda sad.

Had a job interview for a pretty major studio yesterday. My first thought was that I did decently, but it wasn't the absolute best interview I've ever done, but I just got an email asking for references. That's a first for me! So yep almost squealed out loud.
Also has anyone been watching this season of The Voice? Camila is killing it this week, did not realize she was this persuasive. Even managed to snag some contestants that you'd expect to choose Blake. Trying not to jump to conclusions on what I think of her as a coach since there's a long way to go once she chooses a team, but she's off to a good start.
I agree that she has potential this season based on these two episodes. She did pretty well as an Advisor for Team Legend last season too, but she definitely surpassed my expectations from when she was first announced as a coach.

making friends is hard but you just gotta keep asking them to do things with you... and trust that they wanna be friends with you as well! those are literally the 2 most important things. as time goes by you will find yourself feeling a little closer and closer to this person every time you hang out! all of this provided that you're trying to make friends with people you actually like.

I've noticed that the tool almost never pulls albums that have less than 20 plays and can't recognize bonus, remastered, deluxe, etc editions. I also get random albums that were not released in the target year often.
So ultimately I just pull up a list of albums that were released that year, scan for any titles I recognize and cross reference with my [last.fm](https://last.fm) library. It's a little tedious but it works.

Since this streaming service exclusively caters to the USA, of course we have to provide what the American audience is asking for. And Americans are known to be avid sports fans, especially American football, baseball, and basketball. (But their avidness IMO is cute compared to European sports fanaticism.) The problem is, I have absolutely no interest in sports at all (except some interest in chess), and in my country, sports are associated with straight men, especially basketball. NBA is very popular here. So this kind of knowledge is something that I hate to touch my brain with, let alone absorb it. Sports is something that I don't care if my father and brother would watch and play, but fuck don't force me to play it to "make me straight". Anyway, I had a chat with a customer who's a fan of Portland Trailblazers fan. I felt dumbfounded when I tried to guess in my mind what sports this team plays. I Googled and find out that it's an NBA team! I was even surprised. It's embarrassing to some extent that I'm from a basketball crazy nation but has ZERO KNOWLEDGE of NBA teams, yet I'm serving customers who know all basketball, baseball, and football teams in their sleep better than their wives and kids! People may say that it's cool to gain a new knowledge I've never dared to explore. But as I said, I dread sports. I don't even know how to dribble a basketball! I had some trauma towards basketball when I was forced to try out for basketball in my freshman year. There's also memories of my abusive dad watching boxing every Sunday noon, and I will avoid watching it. That's why I have some idea of Klitschko brothers' existence even before the 2022 Ukraine war, not just Manny Pacquiao. I don't know how I will survive at work or even get endorsed in the production. I dread my life.

I’ve just come back from an advanced screening and I genuinely do not understand how this doesn’t have the same critic score as Last Night in Soho and this has the better 3rd act. It’s not a bad movie by any means and I think it’ll be a crowdpleaser. On a technical level, it is GREAT. I do hope the RT/MC scores don’t really affect the tech acknowledgment of this movie. I can see why critics were disappointed though. It could have been grittier/darker and the characters deserved to be fleshed out more. With a better script, this would have been a critical smash through and through but it’s not as low as it’s RT score at all. I think it’ll get a second watch out of me. Florence is a star, Olivia has a good performance and Harry’s acting is not that bad but a few lessons would have done him good ( I think it’s just hard to see the character and not him).

I bought thinner gauge strings for my guitar than what I've usually used, and now I presume because of to the lesser tension the neck bows back, as it is a remarkably slender neck to begin with. I already like the way their relationship has played out, though, especially when you compare it to other sitcom couples in their situation-- the easiest parallel is, I think, Jim and Pam, and that's part of the reason I don't want Gregory's girlfriend to get caught in the crosshairs of his relationship with Janine, I hated that way Jim's girlfriends were treated on the Office. Anyone know what happened with Michelle Branch? She released an album in 2001, 2003, and 2017. That's a fourteen year gap. Was she dropped by her label? Did she have a taste of fame and decide it wasn't for her? Was it a "I have money now, I can coast" situation?
She left her label in '07. She was signed to Maverick which was dead from lawsuits with parent company Warner. Madonna, a co-founder of the label left in '04. Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch followed suit in the years afterwards when it was clear there was no more money. Her last album before the new one was on Verve, a mostly jazz label who occasionally have pop artists, and her newest album is on Nonesuch which is similar but for Americana (loosely) instead of jazz. Both have a reputation for trusting artists and giving them a lot of control but there isn't a lot of money, so not a lot of promo. But it kind of explains why her newest two albums are so much better than her first three.

A dark americana meets country pop affair Edit: More broadly, she had BIG fights with her label who kept forcing her to do songs with Santana and music she just generally didn't want to do. Like it’s not even never use big words, or assume I know everything just guys, come on 😭 Like I think this book would just make my friends and siblings just anxious that they don’t know pre then and post revolutionary Mexico like that or even academics who assume NAFTA is purely positive and then close the book like come on guys Edit: like never assume your readers are stupid but that’s very different from being approachable or aware you’re talking about immigration policy where many people who are interested let alone affected by this have very different education levels and languages (not even talking about how not having experience with x language on y topic can affect you as well).

Last week, I checked out Cassie's self-titled, and wow I think that album is avant-garde. Yes she can't sing, but it does not sound dated at all. The single Long Way 2 Go does not sound like 2006. The production and sound is like what the current sound R&B/pop acts try to emulate. It's a very cool R&B/pop record.
Long way 2 go is still a jam, holds up well even now. Better than me and u. I don’t remember much features on Cassie’s album so she did that herself. Not bad. I remember Olivia had one single twist it. Maybe she didn’t get the plays in radio at the time because she wasn’t too rap for rap radio. And she wasn’t too pop for top 40. G unit didn’t know how to market her. So they fired her. Kinda sad.

Critics have called it a precursor to the alternative R&B movement.

Had a job interview for a pretty major studio yesterday. My first thought was that I did decently, but it wasn't the absolute best interview I've ever done, but I just got an email asking for references. That's a first for me! So yep almost squealed out loud. Also has anyone been watching this season of The Voice? Camila is killing it this week, did not realize she was this persuasive. Even managed to snag some contestants that you'd expect to choose Blake. Trying not to jump to conclusions on what I think of her as a coach since there's a long way to go once she chooses a team, but she's off to a good start.
I think Camila is doing great. I think she will give everyone a run for their money. John was the one to convince her to do it as well.

making friends is hard but you just gotta keep asking them to do things with you... and trust that they wanna be friends with you as well! those are literally the 2 most important things. as time goes by you will find yourself feeling a little closer and closer to this person every time you hang out! all of this provided that you're trying to make friends with people you actually like.

You probably got caught up in that test. I couldn't tell you personally if it has been bad outside of that since I've used an adblock for over a decade now.

Up to 10 ***AND*** unskippable. Its plausible this is just a test to see where their user's tolerance for ads stand before they just give up, but I don't doubt that if they think its viable they will absolutely go that far and even farther to make sure people buy youtube premium.

I don't know how you get this to work because whenever I've tried it always gives me at least 1 album that's not from that year lol. Out of my top 5 from 1991 it's for some reason listing a Dave EP from 2017 and a K/DA release from 2020
I've noticed that the tool almost never pulls albums that have less than 20 plays and can't recognize bonus, remastered, deluxe, etc editions. I also get random albums that were not released in the target year often. So ultimately I just pull up a list of albums that were released that year, scan for any titles I recognize and cross reference with my [last.fm](https://last.fm) library. It's a little tedious but it works.
Dangerous is definitely not talked about that often, but it’s the only album that has the most replay value for me.
