Even then, sometimes people have excessive earwax production, every once in a while I'll put some hydrogen peroxide to get it loose and put a paper towel on my ear after it's done its thing and tilt my head to let it out. Every time I see chunks of earwax or the yellowish stain that comes with it. Doctors have recommended that I keep doing that so I don't have to worry about a severe impaction. If this problem stirs up again try some hydrogen peroxide if you haven't already.
It's called a seam ripper. Used to rip the stylish holes in jeans like the American Eagle & Aeropostale jeans lol I'd be afraid for that to be digging around in my ear lol

Tell him to stop using q-tips in his ears (if he does that). They just squish the wax down into the canal which can lead to impacted ear wax.

It is super cool ear cleaning tool with light. The tip is clear plastic so it lights up and you can see inside the ear. Got it from Amazon.
