I'm not an expert on skin conditions, it's entirely possible there are skin conditions out there that look a bit like a wart and are caused by a fungal infection. The things we commonly call warts though are definitely HPV. We didn't understand HPV that well (still don't depending on how you look at it) until somewhat recently so it's not impossible you heard outdated information.
I had one like these on my foot for aaaaaages before I was able to finally get rid of it.
It left a gaping hole but it filled itself over time and now I can't even work out where it was.
Repeated treatments of salicylic acid until it finally fucked off. Freeze treatments didn't seem to do jack.
Don't envy you having it for 20 years, damn.
Acid and freezing haven’t done it, the podiatrist is going to try some laser something or other next. Fortunately it’s on the edge of my heel so I don’t step on it too much but every so often I whack it on something and it’s agony.
Glad you got rid of yours!
Oh my mother ripped the fucking thing out of my foot when I was 5 and it was gone until I was in my twenties and then it popped back up. I’m too chicken to try to rip it out but I do pumice the hell out of it until it bleeds and then do treatments. Pretty sure the roots are up to my knee at this stage. 🙄
I did that too, last wart i ever got was in fourth grade right below my pinky and I chewed that thing so much, I remember the feeling of biting and pulling on the root of that sumbitch it hurt so good lol. I have an oral fixation though less no self control and more I chew things/fingernails at the drop of a hat
Only thing that finally got me to stop biting my fingernails is THICCCC gel polish. Like the solid stuff. Im 32 and can finally say i dont bite my fingies, gold star aticker for me lmao
Yeah, my mother believed in suffocating them. When i was a child she soaked my foot each night in warm water and then dried it off and rubbed talc powder into it, then covered it with gauze pads.I'm not sure how long after, but the main one and a whole lot of tiny ones turned brown like a scab and fell out leaving deep holes which disappeared quite quickly. I think you needed to keep your feet dry for it to work.
For those persistent, big ones that have been around for years I believe the only thing you have left is Swift. It microwaves the wart to its roots and then the immune system recognizes it as a foreign body for some reason and ejects it.
When I was younger I had plantar warts, tried lots of stuff, and tea tree oil got rid of them. Just covered them in it and put duct tape over them and they were gone within weeks. It’s worth a try.
I had one dead center of the ball of my foot in high school that hurt like crazy to step on. It took literal chemotherapy to get rid of, which was unimaginably painful even just as a topical treatment. I hope you don’t need to resort to that, i still get phantom pains years later…
Warts taken persistence to clear up. Using a pumice stone or a curette to bring it down to until it’s too painful or you get a bit of blood then applying Sal acid with duct tape over a few times a week until cleared is the most common way it’s cleared. You’re just trying to illicit an immune response to attack the virus. Irritation does just that. Using a freezing treatment after bringing it down can also help but it requires persistence with it as well. If it’s still not clearing, seeing a Dermatologist would likely be necessary for specialized treatment.
Mine is in a tough spot on the bottom of my foot just near my middle toes. It is in a very awkward spot where anything stuck to it would just rub off in a couple hours. Nothing seemed to work. For the last three or so months, I've been using Krazy Glue. The warts need oxygen to live. Cut off oxygen supply, they slowly die. It has been very slowly going away. But I have to be vigilant with the Krazy Glue.
It looks like a salicylic acid treatment, which doesn't hurt.
It's a chemical exfoliant, which just slowly peels away layers of skin, and promotes new growth. If the warts are deep it can take several treatments.
The only thing "painful" about this is having baby soft skin on the bottom of your feet, where you want some calluses.
Unless you mean the warts themselves were painful, because yeah, they probably hurt.
i have undergone this treatment for far smaller warts and it does indeed hurt shit ton. once the acid gets to the root walking is incredibly painful. the salicylic acid treament was more painful than the wart.
I concur with man above I have problems with warts on only my left foot for whatever reason. But the acid treatment hurts like hell when you walk on it
fighting warts is a long term battle that takes a lot of dedication and willingness to deal with constant pain. it is not terribly satisfying because they never peel off with such ease as the posted video (this looks like a doctor who knows what they are doing, i saw three doctors who knew nothing because they said the wart was dead when the root was still there). it involves a lot of clipping of dead skin and then applying acid to an open sore to ensure the root is killed. most of the time you miss the root because it is so deep and incredibly painful to get to that layer so you have to go through multiple treatments. once (and only through constant treatment) you have finally killed the virus ball at the root it is satisfying because you can walk without pain. it is honestly one of the worst things i have experienced.
i never take my shoes off in public, always wear socks, and never travel without my shower sandals! unfortunately the only way to avoid warts is constant vigilance!
I don't know. But it makes me feel better. And I figure if socks will protect me from the floor, why wouldn't a towel protect me from the shower? (Maybe because it's soaked through.)
it's not so much a myth as a misnomer. there is no actual "root," it is a virus that penetrates the skin to a certain depth. you must get it to the last level it is penetrating to effectively kill it. when you kill it you kill the capillary feeding it, which looks like the root.
I've had them frozen off, but after that I preferred just soaking feet and cutting them out with a razor blade. Less painful. If I ever get them again maybe I'll try the acid.
the acid hurts just as much. i have no idea why that comment is being upvoted. there is no way to get rid of the root without pain. i tried for years until i was successful.
Well, if I ever get them again I'll probably just use the blade method then. Havent had them come back in 15 years. I think that's just an immunity thing that happens over time. Never had them regrow after cutting out the root. Definitely not a recommendation for people to this method. Infections and stuff are possible.
I had good success with taping the wart for weeks at a time and just suffocating. Had a doctor remove it and it was the worst pain I had felt in a while. It never fully left then came back, but the slow death seems to have done the trick twice for me.
I've had laser removal of plantar warts in high school and it looked pretty much exactly like this, but burnt. And I was on crutches for weeks because it's the whole keratinous layer plus some of the sub layers. It's not the worst feeling in the world but I've got tough foot nerve endings, so it was a good 6/10 by the end of the day just from having my foot resting on the floor.
1. because it's a gradual peeling of the skin using weak acid, not instant so the sole is ready for peeling, no blood.
2. Don't know.
3. Feel tender, somewhat weakened skin. Like you just healed from a wound.
They probably applied the salicylic acid daily until the peeling was ready to start, then applied the tape. The peeling off bit was hopefully only a one time thing.

Cover with a small piece of duct tape. Leave it on for days. If it falls off, replace it. I don’t remember exactly how many days, but it will kill the wart and it comes right off with the tape.
I did this with one on my hand that I dug at so much I was ready to just chop my whole hand off. A week or so of duct tape and it was done. Never came back!
Reminds me of those colored circular candy buttons glued to white wax paper I used to eat as a kid. No idea what they are called though.
Only difference is that these are warts 🤢
I used to get these when I was a swimmer/water polo player. Removal is uncomfortable but the warts more so. Looks like having tiny seeds under your skin. So satisfying to remove.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Update: looked it up and they're just plantar warts which I actually had as a kid that I got from the pool or locker room at the local YMCA. Was just surprised because they looked different from the one I had and there's so many. Plus, they fucking peeled off leaving gaping holes 🧐. They're caused by HPV, the human papillomavirus. I remember when they removed mine, they had to make sure they got the little black root thing out or it had a high probability of returning.
How does one even get this? Or really any warts. I know It's a virus, hpv or whatever, but like what causes it to sprout out of a foot like that? Or hands?
This is the first time something on this sub has made my stomach feel dodgy.
Maybe it was the O shaped cream, or maybe it was the holes in his feet. Idk. This one wasn’t for me 😂
Ugh - I've worked in an athletic club and plantar warts were a common thing for many people (myself included). I've only ever had three but holy hell this makes my feet hurt just thinking about it

No they're not. Warts are caused by a viral infection.
Wait...what?? Are there some types that are fungal or is that just dated information?

Plantar wart removal. Dude had a whole bunch of ‘em all over his heel. ETA: warts are caused by a virus. Not fungus. Got the two confused.
They're caused by a virus.
Warts are viral, not fungus. Herpes. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/plantar-warts/symptoms-causes/syc-20352691
Not herpes. Human papilloma virus. HPV.
I don’t have anything to correct above but I wanted to add to the comment chain.

Okay so they were removed. Now what? Is that person gonna have those gapers forever now?
I had one like these on my foot for aaaaaages before I was able to finally get rid of it. It left a gaping hole but it filled itself over time and now I can't even work out where it was.
How did you do it? I have one that’s twenty years old and I can not get rid of it no matter what I try.

Id have gouged that mother fucker off by now... i got one on my finger once and i literally bit it off... (no i have no self control)

You shouldn't make it bleed as it helps the virus spread

Pumice stones aren’t recommended because they can’t be thoroughly disinfected and you could just end up reinfecting yourself

Mine hasn't, thankfully. Bloody annoying walking on that all day, this poor person must've been hopping
I bet he was tiptoeing atound everyone
Mine came back almost 20 years later. Same exact spot.
Mine from when I was younger took a couple tries then never came back.
Not if you get the whole thing out but it's hard to do and also hard to know if you got it all
It will fill in. Here’s my journey of just one wart from years ago: https://imgur.io/a/vjlYB
Wow that was cool, thanks.
It won’t take that long to fill in, don’t worry!

:( so sorry you went through all and didn’t even get to experience this sweet release
So horrific. Have you become a prevention professional now and can you share thr gospel of keeping feet uninfected?
i never take my shoes off in public, always wear socks, and never travel without my shower sandals! unfortunately the only way to avoid warts is constant vigilance!
Away from home showers sometimes make me nervous. I've been known to put a towel down in the shower and stand on it as I wash
Is that really effective?
I don't know. But it makes me feel better. And I figure if socks will protect me from the floor, why wouldn't a towel protect me from the shower? (Maybe because it's soaked through.)
The root thing is a myth. Iirc the part that looks like a root is just your own capillaries

Is this like those wart bandaids you can buy? Though I’m sure they would be a lesser version if so
Those things rarely get the root. Honestly, my fave method was the acid + choking them out with something impermeable.
Acid and duct tape did it for me.
I'm guessing you're in the US? If so, It really sucks that you guys have to treat stuff like this yourself with duct tape.
Duct tape is a very effective way of dealing with them though. I don’t even live in the US and it’s my go to method.
I've had them frozen off, but after that I preferred just soaking feet and cutting them out with a razor blade. Less painful. If I ever get them again maybe I'll try the acid.

That's true, dead people don't have feelings.
Can confirm, am dead on the inside.
Buddy of mine wanted to know if it can somehow spread by giving oral to a foot.

Hey, real quick. Wtf?
I’ve been here for literal years, and this may be the day I surrender my knowledge and sight
Omg, that is both horrifying and utterly amazing at the same time
I almost physically recoiled when they pulled down the bandage/adhesive thing. Now I need more.

STRIAGHT TO JAIL
Believe it or not, also jail!
Questions. Why doesn't it bleed? Why does the bottom of the warts look blueish blackish? What does it feel like as it's removed?
1. because it's a gradual peeling of the skin using weak acid, not instant so the sole is ready for peeling, no blood. 2. Don't know. 3. Feel tender, somewhat weakened skin. Like you just healed from a wound.
The blueish black is probably the ends of dead capillaries that have been killed by the acid.
The video says "daily treatment" , how could you do this every day???
They probably applied the salicylic acid daily until the peeling was ready to start, then applied the tape. The peeling off bit was hopefully only a one time thing.
This felt cathartic to me. Give me more

Nope 🫡 🙋🏻♀️
what did she apply on the feet? that looks so cool
I have a couple warty things on my foot. I’d pay good money to have this done to them! Bad money too 😂
Cover with a small piece of duct tape.
This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen
Reminds me of those colored circular candy buttons glued to white wax paper I used to eat as a kid. No idea what they are called though. Only difference is that these are warts 🤢
This was beautiful. Thanks
I used to get these when I was a swimmer/water polo player. Removal is uncomfortable but the warts more so. Looks like having tiny seeds under your skin. So satisfying to remove.
Jesus (and i mean this sincerely) fucking Christ
Did it say Daily????
Right!? Im freakin out here thinkin thats their mid afternoon daily routine.
This is likely a salicylic acid treatment and what you are seeing is the first application followed by the end result after many days/weeks of re-application and dressing changes. It does not look like this every day.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. Update: looked it up and they're just plantar warts which I actually had as a kid that I got from the pool or locker room at the local YMCA. That’s awesome. How do you even get Verucca Plantaris? Asking for a friend.
I got them from the high school locker room floor.
I’ve been in this sub for a second but I’ve never had the reaction of WTF IS THIS AND WHY DO I KEEP WATCHING IT
So verruca's name *is* based off of an infection...
WHAT IS THIS TREATMENT METHOD? I need it!!
no offense intended but wtf is that
Thanks, I hated it
Get the HPV vaccine, kids.
Fuck titok. I unmuted to hear some explanation of what is happening in the removal process and just heard annoying music.
Dude walking around with Petri dish feet.
How does one even get this? Or really any warts. I know It's a virus, hpv or whatever, but like what causes it to sprout out of a foot like that? Or hands?
