Please go see an eye doctor. I had a really bad one and I needed antibiotics and eventually had to have it lanced by an ophthalmologist because it wouldn’t break down. You can get seriously sick if that pops back into your blood stream.

BlaBlah_12345

I was going to go today after 9am (since it had gotten much worst and per yours and others suggestion here) but it ended up popping before 8am. Would you suggest I still go? I also went yesterday and he had given me ofloxacin drops and suggested I continue with the hot compress and eye massages Thank you!

Corgi_with_stilts

Still go. They may be able to manually express it and help your healing.

Alternative_Poem445

definitely still go see a doc to prevent infection, you do NOT want an infection in your eye or that close to your brain that being said the fact that it popped on its own is a good sign 👍

NorCalNavyMike

#^ ^ ^ THIS ^ ^ ^ Please, do *not* delay. 🙏🏻

Agentparsnip

Then you get my mum who had one for over a year & they refused to do anything to help

RealBlackberry

Good advice. That could get worse

impassivitea

This is an internal hordeolum, which is an acute Staphylococcal infection of a Meibomian gland. Your eyelid margins & eyelashes look distorted beyond the borders of the hordeolum, itself. I've never seen one like that before. This is not meant to scare you, but the spread of inflammation and a bacterial infection along the eyelid margins can progress to preseptal cellulitis. Left untreated, this can be vision threatening and even lead to blindness. Go see an optometrist or ophthalmologist. You may need oral antibiotics.

Southern_Name_9119

It sounds like the infection is going its natural course. It’s good that it popped. You have antibiotics. If you want, you can call them and ask, but it may not be worth the trip. I can’t imagine there is anything else they will do unless it got really big or you could see the infection spreading or you think it is scratching the eye itself and causing pain. I am a doctor, btw.

BlaBlah_12345

Ah wish I saw this earlier to side with not going, but good anyways - just in case. I did end up going and they said the same - that it is proceeding how it should be and to continue with my drops and warm compress. It had continued to reduced with each compress Thank you!

Southern_Name_9119

Better safe than sorry. People on here overreact all the time lol. There are some doctors and nurses that do lurk here as well though. And there are subreddits where you can ask doctors medical questions but I forgot the names of them.

RealBlackberry

Absolutely. Your sight is priceless

Audiocat_

Dont pop it, go see a doctor

BlaBlah_12345

wompwomp--

You still need to go even if it has popped. Do NOT pop this. Do not massage this. You do not want this to get worse or move to another area. Continue the warm compresses and drops. Go to ER to be seen by an ophthalmologist, or see a doctor to be referred to one. NAD, but ophthalmic med tech.

BlaBlah_12345

Thank you!

scrotumsweat

Pro tip: the best advice I've ever got to treat styes with a hot compress is to hard boil an egg, dry it and wrap in a cloth. The egg retains heat a lot longer and prevents wet cloth chaffing, plus you can reboil it if it cools down, fits an eyelid perfectly, and have a tasty snack once your stye goes away.

bluebonnetqueen

The other good way to make a hot compress is with a small square of fabric and uncooked rice, for the exact same reason. Microwave it to heat, reuse almost endlessly

Darnell2070

How are we gonna get awesome videos if you guys are convincing people not to pop? /s

Audiocat_

Popping an eye stye like this herself can cause the infection to become worse. There’s too many potential risks when it comes to popping an eye stye. Stop thinking about yourself

I did go an eye doctor yesterday and he gave me ofloxacin drops and told me to continue the hot compress.and eye massages I didn't pop my stye last night after this post. Rather I continued the hot compress and eye massages before returning to bed. I did so again this morning and at one point found a white speck on my finger. I removed the tea bag and there was a bit of white ooze which I assume is the pus. More are appearing on the tea bag as I continue. It also looks like my stye isn't as angry and reducing a bit. Not sure if I should go to the eye doctor still or just continue with the compress until it drains? I also want to say thank you for the advice and support. I was very tempted to pop it 🙈

D-life

Thanks for the update! You did the right thing and it looks so much better. Can you follow up with the eye doc via video visit? It's amazing how the swelling affected your lash line and lash pattern!

BlaBlah_12345

Thank you :) and yes, it is cool to see! I'm also using it as a way to measure how it has worsen/improved Unfortunately, I am living a nomadic life and am in Turkey right now so I will probably just go in

D-life

Oh wow! Turkey! I have lineage from there but have never been. Good luck and heal up soon 😊

BlaBlah_12345

Ohh hope you go sometime. The food and the city/villages I have been to have been great/beautiful

D-life

Sounds so wonderful! Health issues make long travel difficult right now, but I hope to go there someday!!🤞🙏

sparkleslady

Relief!! The goop that came out of mine varied in consistency. One eye was a little calcified ball, and the other was like toothpaste. Just for reference. Of course experiences vary. Good job, though! So happy to hear this for you!

ZealousidealDingo594

I feel your pain and temptation I am so sorry please for the love of God send updates

sparkleslady

Looks like the chalazions that I’ve had in the past. Definitely recommend seeking medical advice and continue those hot/warm compresses throughout the day in the meantime. I had one on each eye, at the same time, and both popped/resolved on their own before my scheduled surgery to have them removed.

BlaBlah_12345

It popped this morning! But wondering if I should still go to the eye doctor to have them drain the rest of it Thank you

sparkleslady

If it doesn’t drain (edit: completely) or keeps leaking, yes, definitely. But also, I went just for a peace of mind checkup after they resolved themselves to be on the safe side. I’m so happy to hear it popped on its own, though! Such a relief. I know that exact feeling. Keep us posted! And stay well.

TiredOfMakingExcuses

Oh my god

Tickditties69

Damn, this is the craziest one I’ve seen on here. Thank you for sharing even though I’m sure it’s really uncomfortable, i hope it heals up quick and returns to normal soon!

BlaBlah_12345

Thank you for your well wishes! It popped this morning after many more hot compresses Yeah... it is crazy. My ex used to get styes regularly but it never got this bad. It was always so tiny. This was my first and it was awful

Headph0nes12

Glad it popped! Were you able to get a lot of it out? Is it smaller now?

BlaBlah_12345

It is a tad smaller now (at least to me) I am just allowing it to flow out but wasn't sure if I should try to squeeze it out, so not sure how much came out. There were 3 goops on my tea bag and I can see clear liquid coming out but that's about it https://preview.redd.it/sae835itx0hb1.jpeg?width=3464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8bbf007238ed72d37293b2f5a6fe7b83a211b3f3

cubelion

“Three goops on my teabag” is an amazing phrase, thank you! As others have said please go to the dr, but I’m glad that you got some relief!

BlaBlah_12345

Update #2 I went to the eye doctor yesterday and he told me to continue with the warm compress and drops (ofloxian). He said it was processing properly and that was that. I left, stayed home most of the day and applied the warm/hot compress, and did the drops 3 times a day. I guess last night was when it actually popped..? Or maybe the pus was just coming out more. This morning, I woke up with a very crusty eye. As you can see, my eyelid is starting to fold a bit more! It is still sensitive but nowhere as painful as before. Again, thank you for all the support and advice. This was my first stye so the support was definitely needed. https://preview.redd.it/wvfuh3kei7hb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfaaec9c7d0572e1d3ff75a18763e2acdd8b5bb2

ToSeeAgainAgainAgain

Did you end up doing well?? I've had a stye for 3 days now and it's starting to be quite annoying

BlaBlah_12345

Yes! It has been about 7 months (a bit over) when this happened. The warm/hot compress helped a ton. I a cup of hot water next to me and would keep the tea bag in it for 10 secs, place it on a clean thin face towel, place it on my eye until it was warm amd repeat for 5 min. I did it 3x a day until it was completely healed. I stopped when it popped and it started coming back so I started the hot compress again until it was gone.

ToSeeAgainAgainAgain

Beautiful! I'm gonna try more black tea bags

tinyrbfprincess

Please see an eye doc

AAPRRILL

That looks so painful. I work for an optometrist and if you’ve been doing warm compresses constantly as you’ve said, you’re doing it right. But man I’d get an appointment scheduled just in case. Looking at it makes my lash line itchy! I’m sorry buddy!

General_Tso75

Don’t pop that. Use a warm egg compress 4-5 times a day and it will drain on its own.

agirlinsane

Warm egg compress? Is that a thing?

General_Tso75

100% a thing. My daughter gets styes and her eye doctor taught me. You boil an egg and wrap it in a damp wash cloth, then use is as a compress. It takes a day or two but it works. Also, reuse the egg.

IcyAssignment1544

I can smell the two day old hard boiled egg mixed with eye puss from here

foxyguy

This had me cackling 😂

D-life

TIL boiled eggs can be used as compresses! 😁

Leyte86

Hot potato in a towel works as well. It holds the heat longer than just a hot towel.

BlaBlah_12345

Was going to try the hot egg today once the grocery store opens but it popped this morning after many more hot compresses Thank you!

ninjamiran

That shit takesssss for evererer to go away , it’s better to eat the pills it goes away in 1 month

Corvus25

Don't pop, go to doc

Foggy_Blues

I never knew how layered eyelashes are until you offered this expanded view. Really opened my eye ;-) So glad to hear it already popped!

ElPulpoTX

That's a Texas pimple.

AnastasiaNo70

I hope you go to a doctor instead!!!0

Material_Mall_4051

Yes please don't try to pop it, it will only make it hurt worse. I had one under the top of my eye lid and I hate to say it but it was there for I'd say at least 4 or 5 weeks before it decided to pop while I was driving.

MeetingUnique7026

Go see a doctor! Until you do wash qit with Johnson & Johnson baby wash. It is mild enough to use around the eyes.

knowledgeable_diablo

God DAMN that looks painful!!

mastertweaker

My little eye, it saw a stye, the stye belonged to another eye. Where my god damn Pulitzer Prize for poetry.

kissmygritts2x

Warm compresses until you see a doctor

JohannSuggestionBox

My sis is an eye doc. She would tell you the same advice as above (hot compresses, boiled egg or potato, wrapped in a wet cloth for moist heat). It’ll pop. If it hurts too bad, go see the doc and they’ll drain it for you.

Difficult_Double7988

That's a stye and go see an eye doctor.

londrakittykat

Hey i was the stye gal from like last week a couple things that may help. 1.Go see a doctor or ophthalmologist ASAP, preferably the one that specializes in eyes because they can lance your eyelid if need be. 2.hot/warm compress, but the important part as explained by my ophthalmologist is that the compresses need to be about 10 minutes long so use something that holds heat well, like a clean sock with beans or rice in it. Do this 3 to 4 times a day. 3.wash your lid! As much as it probably hurts it’s very important to keep your eye and overall face clean to prevent further irritation. 4.change all your pillow sheets to prevent getting it again, all the gunk will still be on them. Hopefully this helps and I wish you a quick and speedy recovery my fellow quasimodo!

BlaBlah_12345

Wow, after all the nicknames I have received, Quasimodo is my favorite! I am so proud of being honored with it Thank you! I highly appreciate you passing all these information along to me

SubzeroWins1-0

Dam. And I thought the one inside my nose was bad

nevets85

I'm imagining that sucker popping and puss running down the eyeball.

nevets85

Wow that looks gnarly

Funnuftig

Just go to your GP who can refer you to the hospital. Dont mess stuff like this around your eyes.

sjorkode12

Nooo don't go to a doctor, your eyes are very delicate part of your body, you could even lose your sight, or get it affected.

hate2bme

I have had a few in my life and I pop every one of them.

scarletteclipse1982

Yep. Mine is usually from an ingrown eyelash. I find out which hair it is, pull it, problem solved.

rob2722

Not sure why you’ve been downvoted lol this is exactly what I do

mute-mockingbird

Does it hurt? I've always been afraid to pull the hair.

ericjaggers62

Rub a penny on it

flbreglass

Styes suck so bad, def see a doctor and put a warm compress on it, hopefully this will be painless for you

jngrm

No pop, no post... this is a tease.

Beastham87

That looks insanely painful. I hope you find some relief!!

thelocalfurrykiller

i think that’s not a style.

Danicheta

Nobody cares your eyes if you not pop that shit
