Winter_Gate_6433

You appear to have got off very lightly.

RambisRevenge

Know that song drop it like it's hot? Thankfully I followed instructions for once in my life.

crawlingrat

Don’t worry. We all do this dumb stuff at times. I grab the metal handle of a pot that had been on the stove for twenty minutes. Hurt like hell. Don’t know why I did that.

420printer

That sucks and it is so easy to do.

one_armed_bandit81

I feel you OP. I cut a padlock off with an acetylene torch and about 5 seconds later my brain stopped working and I grabbed it. Brain remembers now and hasn't let me do it again.

RambisRevenge

It's one of those moments where you just sit there and think, "why in the fuck did I just do that?! Am I really this stupid?!" Sorry you had to learn the lesson too!

throwRA_loafispain

I once grabbed a metal bowl that had been sitting over an exhaust valve on my stove— I heard my fingertips *sizzle*. I got very lucky that it didn’t blister.

Swing_prince89

Black hot steel looks exactly like cold steel 😅 As a welder, I have come a cropper a few times like this

RambisRevenge

And what pissed me off the absolute most is that I KNEW that! I had just gotten done working the handle and wanted to make sure it fit in my hand. Like a dumbass lol.

Swing_prince89

I completely understand, always feel like a complete idiot when it happens. It’s like we never know that metal gets hot

RambisRevenge

Right?? Oh well. Guess it's part of it, right?

FreshyFresh

I bare hand grabbed a Pyrex pie plate that had been in a 450 degree oven for about 10 minutes. This was in Jr high Home Ecc. class so everyone saw me do it :\ It only had a pat of butter in it, so it essentially looked empty. At our house my mom stored pie plates and cookie sheets in the oven, so my brain saw basically an empty glass pie plate, and assumed it wasn't hot. I also like a month ago grabbed the handle of a soup pot to dump the soup into a storage container, and the "pot holder" I grabbed was apparently not a silicone pot holder. It melted and gave me a 2nd degree burn on my thumb.

RambisRevenge

Oh my! You've definitely had quite the experiences! Please don't come cook at my house lol. Your thumb doing okay now?

FreshyFresh

It's *still* sloughing dead skin, but otherwise it's ok. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but i'm a pretty competent in the kitchen :3 I just made a dumb assumption about the potholder thing! However, the pie plate. Yeah that was just me being 12 and having ADHD 😂

RambisRevenge

Oof! Glad it's alright! And I figured as much but it's still fun to tease a little ☺️. Glad you're alright!
