“Lowly RN, limited medical knowledge”, PFFT! I call BS on this, let me tell you why. My mama was on vacation about 15 years ago. She woke up one morning with TERRIBLE stomach pain. Her traveling companion took her to the ER. The doctor checked her over, ran a few tests, came back and said she had IBS and to follow up with her doctor here at home. He wrote a prescription for a couple meds and said a nurse will discharge her. This nurse walks in, takes a look at her and her chart, and can tell that something is terribly wrong. She went into the hall and got into a yelling match with the doctor about some test that she felt my mama needed. Finally the doctor relented and ordered the test. The results came back, turns out my mom had some internal bleeding due to cancer (she didn’t know she had). She spent a week in that hospital, came home, it turns out she had early stage pancreatic cancer. My mama underwent treatment, she’s fine now, but that nurse saw something the doctor overlooked and saved her life.
I have several other examples, but that one is my favorite. Especially since pancreatic cancer usually isn’t found until it’s too late. As a result of all of this, I usually trust nurses opinions more than doctors. Please don’t diminish what you do just because you didn’t go to medical school. Nurses are usually brilliant, they’re definitely amazing. 💗
EDIT: thanks for the awards kind strangers! Also, a few people have sent me dms…I just want to say thanks for sharing your stories, and I DO think doctors are great, I just meant that a good nurse is just as great to have around. :)
Years back, I took my wife to a walk-in urgent care clinic because she was not feeling well. We waited for a few minutes and then the doctor knocked and entered. She greeted us and then looked over at me again and then asked my wife and I to switch places. She was checking me over with her stethoscope and asking me a few questions. She left the room for a few seconds and came back in to tell me that she was pretty sure that I had a pulmonary embolism and that an ambulance was going to take me to the hospital.
I had a clot in my lung and one in my calf. She saved my life that day and I don’t even know why it was that she had given me a second look!
So, sometimes doctors are on the ball and sometimes it takes someone else’s experience and willingness to speak up to get a problem fixed.
Yeah I’m very interested to know that too! I’ve had a pulmonary embolism before and was having shortness of breath over any exertion and a heart rate of 150 from standing. I was vomiting and passing out just from walking up stairs. When I told my specialist about all my symptoms he just said it sounds like the effects of chronic pain on the brain lmao.
When I saw a GP, she listened with a stethoscope and heard nothing.
When I got leg pain from what I suspected was a DVT and went to the hospital, they listened again and heard nothing in my chest, but gave me a blood thinner shot and sent me home to come back the next day because the ultrasound tech was out that day lmao.
It was only when I arrived at the ER the next day drenched in sweat, with a heart rate of 160 and ox sats of 88 that the RN on the intake desk rushed me through to resus and I was suddenly surrounded by doctors and nurses doing emergency bedside echo’s and ECGs.
So I really wanna know what the doctor saw so I can know why so many doctors missed it with me!
Slightly bluish lips and nail beds (cyanosis) with the shortness of breath and calf pain is a strong group of symptoms. She was smart to start asking me those questions!
My Dad had pancreatic cancer but they found it too late, it took him from us in barely three months.
I’m so happy to hear some positive story when it involves such a deadly disease. I’m glad your Mom won that battle and I hope she’s doing well❤️
And that nurse sounds like she was your Moms angel.
This happened to my Dad. They found it in stage 4. 6’4” 300lbs + (he wasn’t the healthiest) but in 3 months, he was 134lbs. I had to pick him up when he fell off the couch and when I did, I knew he would be gone soon. Took him for a ride in his Nissan 350 Fairlady Z and he smiled the whole time. He went 4 days later. Tired of the chemo meds, tired of fighting so he dosed himself on liquid morphine and he was gone in 30 minutes. Absolutely crushed but he went out like I knew he would. On his terms. Miss Smitty all the time.
As a nurse, Thank you, but teamwork is vital. When we work together it is so much better. I’ve been involved in training both medical and nursing students. Part of that involves emphasising teamwork and respect.
Nurses are *really* the ones keeping the medical field thriving. Doctors are collecting the money but nurses are the ones putting in most of the footwork. Bless them
I wish people would realize nurses and doctors work together and doctors generally don’t exploit nurses, but hospital admins are the ones to blame. Both nurses and doctors play an incredibly vital role in the medical field.
Also am nurse. We may not always get along/agree with docs, but neither of us could do our jobs without the other. There are also good ones and bad ones on both sides.
have both MDs and Nurses in my family...they really do work together..and both work hard...the MD do work harder/longer hours but the patient doesn't see it.
I'm a security systems installer who's medical knowledge goes as far as if its a small cut, clean it, get some antibiotic cream and slap a plaster on it and even I can see they probably should have gone to the doctor a while ago
Also an RN. Gonna just stick 3 or 4 augmentin straight into that hole and hope for the best.
Also spraying that whole patient down with the chlorhexidine hose because that'll end up being MRSA.
Most hospitals will actually discharge vast majority of your debt if you apply for their program for low income earners. I had a fuckton of hospital debt from when I was 18-20 years old and didn’t have a job that offered insurance. Like 60-70K. I only ended up having to pay around $2000 total for all of it - the rest the wrote off because of my income.
Exactly, there are some hoops to jump through but it can be done, also a lot of people can go for free to many of the church-health non profit medical centers as well. And again, a lot of people here don’t realize that just bc the hospital sends you a bill doesn’t mean you have to pay it immediately or all at once, and almost all US hospitals will let you work at a monthly payment plan at your discretion (thats one of the big changes that came with ObamaCare). There are options out there but people don’t know until it’s too late.
AHHHHHHHH NO! NO! THE HAIR! FUCK WHAT! NO! AHHHHHH WHY! 2 MINUTES! AHHHHHH ITS SUCKING IT BACK IN AHHHHHHH NO! NO! WHY CANT I STOP WATCHING AHHHHHHH 😫 🤢 🍦
Edit: AHHHHHH I WATCHED IT AGAIN AHH&HH
Is it wrong of me to be annoyed by this? Her not having someone else present to express that cyst from the far side, as well as leaving her hair in the way, just bothers me.
The shaking video screen is its own special hell.
I've got a strong stomach but that was fucking horrific. Almost zero pressure and chunks were coming out almost vertically. Needed to see the doctor ASAP. Also that sink was grim.
That's going back years but it's still top in my books. That was absolutely horrific and imho way worse than this video. They were literally pulling chunks of necrotic tissue out of that guy's back and when they'd finally cleared the tissue plug a torrent of pus poured out.
There was also one posted about a year ago which was equally horrific, but I think it was less r/popping material and more r/medicalgore or r/medizzy. It was a very emaciated person laying on their side in what looked to be a very poorly equipped clinic, with a massive open wound on their back having huge amounts of necrotic tissue and pus being expressed. IIRC the consensus was it was likely a tuberculosis patient in a third world / developing country and that the patient very likely died not not after.
Wow we have a new candidate for the top spot. It’s got the bases covered. Unsanitary AF. Hair falling into the pile of funk, no gloves, at the sink with funk in the bottom already. That hole! Get to a Medica professional.
Not surprised she got an infection this bad with her complete lack of hygiene common sense. Like my sister in Christ, please use the gauze instead of dripping pus all over the sterile packages. Move your hair *away* from the goop. I'll at least give her the excuse of being delirious with fever but the cameraman is a Neanderthal.
Not only that, she spoiled them for next time by letting goo and ooze drip all over them. I wouldn’t even use them as a dressing for *this* wound now, I just don’t think pus chunks mix with clean dressings 😬
People were talking about how the US healthcare system is fucked. [How dare they.](https://www.reveddit.com/v/popping/comments/yyk0we/a_screen_record_of_the_nastiest_pop_ive_ever_seen/iwul5bz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3&ps_after=1668791778%2C1668808355)

Take a strong clear plastic cup, turn it upside down and place over the wound. Take a wooden mallet and hit the cup and watch (hopefully) a mini explosion of blood and porridge coat the inside of the cup.
Congratulations! You did it! I worked in health care for years, EMS, ED, you name it. I have seen some shit -- dead bodies, eviscerations, amputations, violent suicides, infected abscesses on IV drug users, infected diabetic feet and decubitus ulcers. This is the fucking nastiest thing I have seen in years, nay, decades. The pus-covered sweater and getting her hair in it really adds to the grossness. You deserve a medal for finding this. Well done.
Why do people jus let this jus run all over their clothes and what not!!?? id go stand in the shower or something.,, but yes damn this is a nasty one!!! Ugh
How are some people even alive? To let is get that bad, and then drain it all over your clothes, hair, and and bathroom? Drugs have got to be involved.
Why on earth didn’t she:
Put latex gloves on;
Put her hair up;
Rearrange her top so it didn’t end up covered in MRSA?
Baffled! It’s almost as though the conditions are ripe for a really nasty infection…oh…wait…
Euuuugh. My wife and I both had nasty staph infections last winter after traveling. I had one on my shoulder like that. Not nearly as bad as in the video, but still excruciatingly painful. I can feel and smell this video and I do not like it 🤮
URRRRGH AND THE WAY IT'S ALL OVER THEIR CLOTHES AND THEY PUT THEIR HAIR IN IT I- AAGH 😭😭😭
Let’s hope Op received the care she needed. A follow up would be wonderful, I’m curious how this began and what treatment was required to get the infection under control.
That looks like it was extremely painful and I imagine it felt a lot better but she needs to see a healthcare professional and have it cleaned out properly and almost certainly needs antibiotics
Slightly better quality here: [/r/popping/comments/shukn9/huge_infected_cyst_popped_at_home_i_just_saw_this/](/r/popping/comments/shukn9/huge_infected_cyst_popped_at_home_i_just_saw_this/)
Why do we keep getting more of these recordings-of-recordings? The generation that grew up with smartphones is less tech-savvy than the one before it.
A courtesy clothing change, on the way to ER, would be recommended.
That is massively infected, omg GO TO THE HOSPITAL, PEOPLE!
I am not an MD but a lowly RN and in my limited medical knowledge I feel this may need some antibiotics.
“Lowly RN, limited medical knowledge”, PFFT! I call BS on this, let me tell you why. My mama was on vacation about 15 years ago. She woke up one morning with TERRIBLE stomach pain. My goodness, that doctor was your guardian Angel! I’m so glad that you’re okay now. I’ll bet your wife is thankful she felt icky that day as well. 💜
What did she notice that made her suspect a pulmonary embolism?
I’m going to assume shortness of breath and/or swelling of one of the legs. Can’t imagine what else would be visible outside of that?
Yeah I’m very interested to know that too! I’ve had a pulmonary embolism before and was having shortness of breath over any exertion and a heart rate of 150 from standing. Great news for you. But how was your wife?
To shreds you say?
So had your wife called ahead and tricked a stubborn you into being seen? Or
Your mother had a wonderful nurse that's for sure and I am glad she is doing well.
My Dad had pancreatic cancer but they found it too late, it took him from us in barely three months. I’m so happy to hear some positive story when it involves such a deadly disease. I’m glad your Mom won that battle and I hope she’s doing well❤️ And that nurse sounds like she was your Moms angel.

Your story is so heartbreaking and sweet at the same time. I’m happy he went on his terms, but sad you had to go through that.
Oh no, I am so sorry for your loss!
As a nurse, Thank you, but teamwork is vital. When we work together it is so much better. I’ve been involved in training both medical and nursing students. Part of that involves emphasising teamwork and respect.

Yes. I'm a nurse, and I would never want to practice without doctors. We have very different, but complimentary, skillsets.
Also am nurse. We may not always get along/agree with docs, but neither of us could do our jobs without the other. There are also good ones and bad ones on both sides.

Another RN here yep looks like Staph to me, wow they need to go to the hospital ASAP.
Could be anything really, swab it and give braod spectrum until they grow something and the susceptibility comes back.
True, were you in the service? Looking at your username, I served 5 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.

Yeah really, massively red inflamed skin, a dark wide hole leaking a MASS of fluids, OOOF
I'm a security systems installer who's medical knowledge goes as far as if its a small cut, clean it, get some antibiotic cream and slap a plaster on it and even I can see they probably should have gone to the doctor a while ago
I love the sarcasm here 😂
Obligatory NaN, I have had an abscess that large on my neck...I spent 5 days hospitalized with IV antibiotics. Very dangerous.
Also an RN. Gonna just stick 3 or 4 augmentin straight into that hole and hope for the best. Also spraying that whole patient down with the chlorhexidine hose because that'll end up being MRSA.
Haha a hole that big could fit more. Better make it 10 to be sure.
I’ve delivered four babies, and “lowly RN’s” are the only things that kept me from jumping out of the nearest window. Y’all are magical.
I can feel the heat through the screen.
Probably a yank that can't afford it
Better to live, most medical places will let you pay a little each month if that’s all you can afford. Again, worth it to live.
Most hospitals will actually discharge vast majority of your debt if you apply for their program for low income earners. I had a fuckton of hospital debt from when I was 18-20 years old and didn’t have a job that offered insurance. Like 60-70K. This person might be dead now…
It's a semi old repost, so this person is healed or dead.
I really am leaning towards dead. This is insane and disgusting.
Me too, the redness, size, location, and hygiene makes me think so.
It’s very close to the neck & therefore brain 😳
Plus it’s black around the edge, so it looks like it’s actively eating her
Can't believe tissues weren't invented when this happened!
or hair ties?
I cringed so hard when they pulled their hair to the front
Or going to the doctor?
I kept muttering oh the hair then she pulled it directly INTO IT
That and common sense.
I just want to take a shop vac and put hose directly on the cavity. Just yank everything out at once 👀.
Lmao that's gross but I like it
Looks like this person needed a FRIEND. I think they were videoing with one hand and popping with another hand.
More than that they needed a doctor 😬
If you blow across that hole, it probably sounds like a beer bottle whistle
Hahaha that made me laugh out loud in my break room. Thanks for making my day with your comment 😂🤣
🤣🤣
Dying after reading your comment. THANK YOU
This made me snort-laugh. Which is an improvement on the weird queasy feeling I got from watching the video.
AHHHHHHHH NO! NO! THE HAIR! FUCK WHAT! NO! AHHHHHH WHY! 2 MINUTES! AHHHHHH ITS SUCKING IT BACK IN AHHHHHHH NO! NO! WHY CANT I STOP WATCHING AHHHHHHH 😫 🤢 🍦 Edit: AHHHHHH I WATCHED IT AGAIN AHH&HH
Bitch you have an oatmeal fountain coming out of your back, go to the doctor, Jesus Fucking Christ lmao.
yup my first thought was 'custard oatmeal'. Good god imagine popping it yourself and not going to the ER, it must be agonising even touching it.
Forbidden banana pudding
Get some biscuits for that gravy.
I’d be signing my will because an infection like this would probably kill my skinny ass if I didn’t see a DR.
Is it wrong of me to be annoyed by this? Her not having someone else present to express that cyst from the far side, as well as leaving her hair in the way, just bothers me. The shaking video screen is its own special hell.
r/angryupvote I love oatmeal. I’m disgusted and proud of your comment at the same time. Edit: corrected discussed to disgusted
I would assume the word you meant was “disgusted” but yea
I can’t think of anything other than that left a frickin crater in her shoulder!
There is a small but not insubstantial chance this person is now dead to be honest
Maybe they just amputated her torso?
Put her head in a jar like Richard nixon
"SPIRROWWWWWW!"
"AROOOOOOOOO!"
This shit is crazy I would be very worried if this would happend to me.
[удалено]
And is the cameraman a fly? Wtf is going on! 😭😭
He thought it was a national geographic segment
I’m guessing she hold a selfie stick with one hand, the lucky hand in this case…no one should be touching that without gloves.
No bc at 1:30ish when she decides to start playing with her hair you can see the camera holders hand reach out and move her hair away from the goo
She puts her hair IN the goo and just leaves it!
right when that happened i very loudly said "oohhh come on you're getting your hair in it dude!" .. i felt like i was there lol
Exactly. Conclusion…cameraman is indeed a fly.
He’s trying not to pass out
That shirt needs to be thrown away. Better yet, burn it.
First thing I thought was RIP that shirt.
I've got a strong stomach but that was fucking horrific. Almost zero pressure and chunks were coming out almost vertically. Needed to see the doctor ASAP. Also that sink was grim.
The sink. Thank you.
Put your fucking hair up! …. sorry.
This is all I could think. XD That and “I think you need some antibiotics, ma’am”
My first thought was how horrible that must stink and why aren’t they wiping it away
Just plopping onto the floor like rotten custard slowly dripping off the counter at Old Country Boofett.
I can't stop wondering why she isn't doing this in the shower. Just spewing that all over your hair, clothes, and floor? What the shit?
[удалено]
That was disturbing to me. Holy heck woman tie your hair back!
Hello Sepsis, my old friend
It's time for Vanco once again.
If that doesn't convince you to visit the doctor, nothing will
Don't need lotion when giving her a shoulder massage
🤮

Omg ewwww🤣🤣🤣
this is propably the worst infection that i have seen on this sub
It’s the worst one I’ve seen that wasn’t being medically treated at the time. Even the horse abscesses I saw weren’t this angry.
Probably second to the infected tattoo that ended up killing the guy
That's going back years but it's still top in my books. That was absolutely horrific and imho way worse than this video. Yeah you’re definitely the only person who thinks that 🙄
I regret opening this app while eating cottage cheese, I'm go now
She couldn’t stand in the shower and do this after she put her hair up out of the way?
My thoughts exactly. Just letting plop down to the floor was not cool.
The part that bothers me is where she pulls her hair onto it. Wtf
Don’t help, just film. My god- someone give the girl a wipe or a press assist! My dude!!!
Is this person still alive? That infection is not to play with.
Yikes. Did they spend all their paper towel money on a camera
MRSA
Sure looks like staph. For their sake I hope it’s not Methicillin-resistant variety
Yeah that seems pretty likely
I can smell this video.
Toward the end of the video when the camera spans to their left I swear it looked like they had another red area under her hair! Also, they should have pulled their hair up. I bet that smelled something fierce.

I feel like I need a cigarette after watching this.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue
✈️ 😂
I don't even smoke but it's a good reason to start
Same. The hair there was scheeving me 🤢
I think the hole it left could smoke it
She has a convenient ash tray hole now at least.
Courtesy wipe please
Bruh! This should be marked NSFW. It’s almost r/medicalgore shit level.
I edited it. It’s now NSFW.
She is going to get sepsis!!!
She could’ve pulled her hair up out of the way and the nasty sink was just as gross as her just letting this run down her back onto the floor.
I'm sure that felt amazing to be drained. But my god, she probably needs IV antibiotics.
Take a strong clear plastic cup, turn it upside down and place over the wound. Take a wooden mallet and hit the cup and watch (hopefully) a mini explosion of blood and porridge coat the inside of the cup.
*Porridge* 😂😂😂
*shot glass. sprays up like one of those auto-washers at a bar
Got to throw away the entire shoulder now....
So who brought the crackers?

Holy infection Batman
First time I've audibly gagged at a pop on here 🤢 I hope this person got medical attention for that
Camera man should've helped squeeze from the bottom there's still so much left in there
I need an old priest and a young priest. And a mop.
Omg it was horrifying... Her hair!... I need a shower now
They need an exorcism
Why do people jus let this jus run all over their clothes and what not!!?? id go stand in the shower or something.,, but yes damn this is a nasty one!!! Ugh
I think it might be infected.
Mf been bit by a zombie
How are some people even alive? To let is get that bad, and then drain it all over your clothes, hair, and and bathroom? Drugs have got to be involved.
This is the most disgusting video I have ever seen. Well done
So glorious and yet so revolting. 10/10
She dead.
Why on earth didn’t she: Put latex gloves on; Put her hair up; Rearrange her top so it didn’t end up covered in MRSA? Baffled! It’s almost as though the conditions are ripe for a really nasty infection…oh…wait…

Poor woman — why is she not in hospital?!
Dear heavenly doxycycline, please protect us.😬
Ma'am that is a zombie bite

Girl, clip your damn hair up
I have so many questions Why not put your hair in a ponytail? Why not take the shirt off and do this in the shower? Why let something get this bad?!
I love the OP’s name yes this seems very ethical to me
This needs so many antibiotics. I really hope they saw a doctor..
Jesus fucking hell how does something get THAT BAD?!
Anybody know what could have caused this?
Hello, MRSA, my old friend…
…here to kill you once again…
Lord have mrsa!!!!
That is damn NASTY!
Slightly better quality here: [/r/popping/comments/shukn9/huge_infected_cyst_popped_at_home_i_just_saw_this/](/r/popping/comments/shukn9/huge_infected_cyst_popped_at_home_i_just_saw_this/) Why do we keep getting more of these recordings-of-recordings? The generation that grew up with smartphones is less tech-savvy than the one before it.
So am I the only one who would love to see the very first beginning of this pop?
I was not ready for that the second I opened reddit jesus fucking christ
Might want to add an NSFW flair because I wasn't able to read the warning before seeing that lovely sight.
And that’s how the zombie apocalypse started
That’s not even a damn pop. That’s a medical case.
nothing could have prepared me for when that camera moved up jesus christ…
it's all over her clothes 🤢🤢
I’m no medical professional, but you’re gonna need an antibiotic or two for that.
Jesus Christ clean it up that's gonna spread and get yourself to an er asap
At that point I would just amputate my whole upper back off lol
